Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Fri Apr 23, 2021 9:02 pm
The morning of the third exam Gonk woke up with butterflies in his stomach.
“Man, I hope I don’t  screw up,” Gonk thought as he ate his breakfast. “I already made it this far, I’ve got to make it all the way. Especially now that I’m the only one representing Kirigakure.” Gonk glanced over at Kita and Ban. “It’s a shame Kita got disqualified, he could have been a strong contender. But what’s surprising is that Ban didn’t make it to the third round. I thought for sure she could have made it.” Gonk shrugged internally. “Well, I guess it just goes to show that you never know what’s going to happen.” Gonk bid farewell to his teammates before making his way to the stadium.
“I’ll prove to all the other shinobi that Kirigakure is the strongest village of them all!”
When Gonk arrived he was led away by some Hoshigakure shinobi who were running the exams and placed in a waiting room. Gonk sat in anticipation for what felt like hours until he finally heard his name called. Steeling his nerves, Gonk walked out into a wedge shaped arena. The terrain was fairly swampy, but there wasn’t much standing water. There was a little bit in the corner, but not very much. Noticing the large boulder, Gonk decided it would be a good place to start the match.  Gonk gazed down at the arena he was in from his vantage point on top of the boulder. It was a nice spot to be. He was 12 meters above the ground, and had plenty of room to move around. Now all he had to do was find his opponent and defeat them. He hadn’t found them quite yet but the time would come. He could see everything except what was in the patches of forests. But he wasn’t concerned with the opponent hiding. Afterall, they would have to reveal themselves if they wanted to try and defeat Gonk. So for now all he had to do is wait. With nothing else to do, Gonk glanced up at the roaring crowd that surrounded the area in a circle.
“Interesting, judging by the shape of this arena, those big walls, and the shape of the audience, I would guess that the five fights are all happening at once in this circular arena, and those walls are dividing it into fifths. But what’s the point of doing it this way? To make things quick? Something isn’t adding up. There must be a reason that I just can’t see yet.” Gonk shifted his focus back to the arena, seeing if his opponent had shown his face yet.

Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Re: Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Sat Apr 24, 2021 2:58 am
Yuuma's Stats:

So it had finally arrived. The day of the final round. This was it- his chance to begin his road to redemption and prove not just his loyalty to the village of Hoshigakure but his capacity to defend himself. That morning, he had brewed a pair of healing potions to take with him into the finals but he hoped they would not be necessary. Even still, Yuuma felt more focused today than he had in any of the tests before; this was going to be his very first fight under the eyes of his peers, and he needed to make certain that he acted decisively. There was not going to be time today to contemplate things deeply as he preferred, nor room to second guess his course of actions or wish that Tsuna was here to back him up. No, today meant standing on his own two feet and showing what he could do. With his supplies checked and secured, he would wait patiently for his name to be called before he stood. A silent prayer whispered in his mind as he made his way out onto the field to address his opponent. “Whoever you might be, may we test ourselves upon the battlefield to our fullest.” A quiet regret was had that he could not spare the time to address his opponent fully before the match began- or any of the opponents he might face for that matter- but there would be a time to make pleasantries once the fighting concluded. Assuming any of them wished to offer him as much.

But there would be time for that later.

Having entered from the southern part of the wedge, Yuuma was slowly and quietly making his way across the landscape with his chakra suppressed. He had no idea who he was fighting, and being caught out before he caught sight of his opponent could put him in a compromised position before he had a chance to react. Thankfully, it seemed his opponent would do him the favor of revealing himself first as the blue-skinned Hoshigaki appeared on top of the only large boulder in the area. The appearance of the boy had caused Yuuma to halt in his tracks and duck slightly in the grass that was already nearly a foot over his head. Thankfully, the height of the grass didn’t compare to that of the boulder, allowing him a clear vision of his opponent who had landed directly in the middle of the rather sizable boulder. Watching for just a moment, Yuuma had stopped his movement and was careful to not disturb any of the grass around him less it gives away his position to the south. “Gonk. From Kiri. He was that guy with that crazy long sword. Better not let him get close to me…” Yuuma thought to himself as he watched from his hidden position in the long grass situated twenty-five meters from Gonk’s position. A little closer than Yuuma was comfortable with, but Gonk didn’t seem concerned to spot a hidden opponent, and Yuuma would use this to full advantage. “I’m very sorry for this, my young friend. But I must end this swiftly,” Yuuma thought as both of his hands went about beginning to make a different set of hand seals each, both of his hands moving slowly and carefully so as not to disturb the grass and compromise his hidden position.

His left hand began forming four seals. Ox. Tiger. Ram. Snake. On his right hand, five seals. Ram. Horse. Dragon. Hare. Snake. Both hands going as fast as they could without breaking concealment, but unfortunately for the Hoshigake, the seals on his left hand would complete just as Gonk glanced upwards towards the crowd. Around Gonk would form five spears made of earth at a distance of four meters from his person, each of them racing towards Gonk in an attempt to skewer him through his torso and continuing beyond while avoiding colliding with one another. The positions of these spears were relative to Yuuma but followed a simple pattern. From how he was facing his opponent, one spear would spawn on what would be Yuuma’s left and right, a third on the other side of Gonk and skewering directly towards Yuuma. The last two spears would be halfway between the spears on the left and right, likewise aiming to puncture the torso of Gonk. The spears on Yuuma’s left would push straight across with the same target, while the spear on Yuuma’s right would instead aim a little more towards Yuumas direction and intersect with the three “back” spears in order to compensate for any movements Gonk might make to retreat from the three spears that would punch through and continue on to their full length of seven meters each, careful to not destroy each other in their path of travel by avoiding direct collision with each other. Each spear had a base that was two meters in diameter. His left hand continued to hold the symbol of the snake, just in case.

The right hand would finish its seals only moments after the left having had only one additional seal to make. Directly to Yuuma’s left at a distance of four meters, a dragon’s head would sprout from the ground and stand at a height of one meter with a width of one meter. Immediately upon forming, the dragon’s mouth would open and let loose an absolute hell-storm of earthen bullets that were one meter in diameter each, flying directly towards the Hoshigake with their trajectory taking any necessary steps to lead their target. These bullets didn’t discriminate in their blast, blowing through objects, obstacles, and jutsu in order to slam into their intended target, though Yuuma would not endanger himself with any of these shots. His right hand formed the seal of confrontation and held it, turning the dragon head as he needed to in order to follow the target and unload a total of ten bullets in rapid succession, aiming to slam directly into his opponent with each shot.

Yuuma was not idle while his jutsu worked, however. Slow as he was compared to most ninja, he had no issue keeping himself low and slow. Keeping an eye on his opponent, he would move away from his Dragon’s head, putting a distance of ten meters between him and his dragon head, moving to the east and towards the bundle of dense forest to his right while maintaining his concealment. The onslaught was fast, relying on catching the opponent unaware as his opening volley aimed to finish the fight before it had ever really started.

Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Re: Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Sun Apr 25, 2021 6:26 pm
Gonk watched, to his amusement, the young boy from the gates creep through the grass, evidently thinking he was unseen. In reality Gonk had seen him when he first arrived through the tunnel, but decided to wait and try to catch his opponent by surprise. He subtly watched Yuuma slip through the grass, although Gonk could still see him very clearly. Two meter high grass doesn’t hide much from someone 12 meters above the ground. When Gonk glanced up at the audience, he noticed out of the corner of his eye, five spears of earth shoot out of the boulder he was standing on, and realized it was time to put the plan he had been formulating into action. He quickly reached his hands into his ninja tool kit and came out with a kunai in one hand, and a blue seal in the other. In one fluid motion, he attached the seal onto the kunai, then hurled it into the air. The angle of the kunai would take it 25 meters directly above Yuuma’s head. As soon as the kunai was out of his hand Gonk formed the dog seal, and he was once again transformed into a mouse. The earthen spears had not been traveling fast enough to catch Gonk during his actions, and with his new reduced size, they couldn’t hit him anyways. Gonk immediately started running directly towards Yuuma, scampering through the gap in between two of the earth spears. Now out of the earth spears, Gonk noticed Yuuma start to move and immediately changed his course to follow him. As he noticed rocks flying at him, Gonk briefly paused, turned around and shot a ball of energy out of his small, mousey arm and directly into the head of the stone dragon. With that pest out of the way, Gonk continued to chase after Yuuma, dodging the few rocks still in the sky with ease. By the time the kunai was in position over Yuuma’s former location, Yuuma would have only moved around 3 meters, leaving him easily in range of the jutsu Gonk was about to perform. As soon as the kunai was in position, Gonk summoned the water out of the tag, then immediately formed five hand seals, causing scales to stream down from the water and form a dome, 50 meters in diameter, around the area. Normally the scales would have to rise up to the 25 meter height, but since the water source was already that high, they just needed to fall, speeding up the process tremendously. As soon as the dome was fully formed, Gonk undid the transformation, silently ran over to the edge of the boulder at the nearest possible point to Yuuma’s location, then silently jumped down, metally noting where he was last seen. Inside the dome nothing could be heard except for any sounds Yuuma made, and nothing could be seen at all. Due to his silent killing ability, Gonk made no noise whatsoever as he started running directly at Yuuma’s last known location, seeing everything due to his special eyes. If all went to plan, Yuuma would now be completely helpless, deprived of any senses that could be used to locate Gonk. But Gonk could tell Yuuma was crafty, and so was on guard as he continued to sprint towards him.

Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Re: Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Mon Apr 26, 2021 4:55 am
Thus far, everything had gone swimmingly. In fact, it was a better opening than Yuuma could have possibly asked for. The Hoshigaki might have been fast, but the spears were already moving towards him by the time he had noticed them. In a matter of moments, the spears closed the distance, three of them punching into the younger boy’s back just as he released the kunai into the air breaking through hardened scales and soft flesh but landing a decisive blow as no actual measures to dodge the attack had been made. Gonk was fast, there was no doubt about that, but that wouldn’t allow him to retrieve a pair of items, secure them, release a throw and form a hand seal before the faster spears met their mark. Nevertheless, a hand seal was made and the blue-skinned boy would shrink down into a much smaller target. Smaller target or not, he had moved precisely as Yuuma had predicted- directly towards him. In fact, it seemed once again that Gonk hadn’t bothered to move from the path of the incoming bullets. A mouse was a small target, to be certain, but bullets had been aimed and released before Gonk made the mistake of pausing, and a stationary target had little hope of dodging one-meter diameter bullets as it crashed directly into the transformed target thanks to the previous leading of the target and the pause of movement on the account of his opponent. The mouse-sized puncture flew across the landscape at a frightening speed, smashing into his dragon head and tearing it apart as it crumpled and broke down, pieces of earth falling to the ground in a heap.

Yuuma didn’t so much as see the destruction of his dragon head as much as heard it, his gaze following the kunai that was arced in order to position itself above his current position. Yuuma’s blue eyes widened slightly as he continued to move away, continuing to move to the east as he moved away from whatever would come next from the kunai-oriented attack. Which was...nothing. Nothing at all seemed to happen as the kunai plunged into the ground some eight meters to the west of his current position. Yuuma had no earthly idea that the card attached to the kunai had been one to summon a great deal of water, but would eventually come to learn that a secondary tag had been necessary for the other to activate as a first tag must be applied to a place that was abundant in water. Which, it seemed, no such tag had been previously placed. For now, however, Yuuma had no such indication of what the tag was meant to do or be and as such gave it a comfortable distance assuming it was some manner of explosive his opponent had just attempted to rain down on his head. “Not a bad idea, but I wonder why he didn’t detonate it.” Yuuma thought, looking back to where his opponent had just taken his leave of the boulder.

“Shit, lost sight of him.” Yuuma cursed, the hand holding the seal of confrontation dropping as the jutsu had been destroyed. “Guess there isn’t much point in hiding.” Just as Gonk moved from the boulder, the ground in a three-meter radius square surrounding Yuuma began to lift, bringing the ground beneath his feet to a height of fifteen meters above the ground it was once leveled with. Around the outer perimeter of this platform, the platform would raise edges at a thickness of six inches and a height of one and one-tenth (1.1) meters in height, giving Yuuma a decent bit of shielding to hide behind. Moving swiftly to the edge of his new platform, it was now plain as day to see his opponent once more, whether he had remained in mouse form on the boulder’s side of the river or had transformed and began moving towards him through the long grass. “Ah, there you are.”

Now with the height advantage, his left hand had maintained the snake symbol and he drew chakra to the symbol once more as his right hand began to weave a new set of symbols. New spears began to form, this time in front of Gonk who had landed less than only half a meter from the boulder he had just been occupying. These spears originated as close as they could though not within three meters of his opponent before jutting forward aiming to puncture a vital part of the body once more. Three spears formed the first row with enough space between them that their two-meter diameter bases would touch when fully formed. The other two spears would not be created immediately, instead forming just a moment after the first three to compensate for directional dodging but instead of aiming for a vital part of the body, these spears would rush to the immediate right and left of Gonk so as to capture any sudden movement to his sides. These two spears would form behind the row of the initial three, and likewise with a similar thickness to the base of the spears. Just as before, each of these spears angled in order to keep them from colliding with each other on the way to their intended target; Gonk.

Bird. Dragon. Monkey. Boar. His right hand swiftly weaved the symbols before placing itself on the earthen mantle in front of him. Across the area of the platform, and all within one meter of Yuuma, ten pillars of earth would form poking out of the raised platform and pointed towards his opponent; five of them were sharpened to a fine point, and five were not. Once formed, these pillars would take flight with the intention of clashing with any jutsu or projectile that had been thrown his way but ultimately the bulk of them would be aimed directly into Gonk’s center of mass. The shots of these pillars were not all at once, however. First came a volley of four, leading their target as needed before three more would be launched in order compensate for movement or incoming projectiles, and a final three likewise aimed to accommodate the motion of his target with the intent of hitting whatever part of Gonk was largest.

Sweat was beginning to form on Yuuma’s brow. So much rapid earth manipulation was going to drain him fast if he was not careful, but he didn’t want to allow his opponent the opportunity to get too close; he’d see that massive weapon and had little interest in getting caught by it and knocked out of the very first round. His left hand maintained the symbol of the snake, wanting to get every bit of use out of his spears as he could, though once the attack of the pillars had begun, his right hand would duck behind the wall and conceal itself before making a trio of symbols. Ram. Horse. Dog. At the end of his finger would appear a two-inch ball of light that hovered just over an outstretched digit. The jutsu wouldn’t deploy yet, instead holding itself at the ready to be deployed when Yuuma so decided he would need it.

Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Re: Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Mon Apr 26, 2021 8:30 pm
Heyo all, Ken here once more to do some good old fashioned Battle Moderation. Okay so, from what I can see there are a couple of issues, so allow me to cut right to the chase and just get them out of the way.

-----------------------

1. Fish on a Skewer?

This is probably the most simple of the lot. At the end of the day Gonk is just barely slower than the spears themselves, but he doesn't have the disadvantage of having to cross 4m worth of distance. Gonk most definitely had the time needed to withdraw a Kunai, attach a tag, launch it then form a handseal, as all of these actions can be performed one after the other in a very short amount of time.

2. Twinkle Toes vs The Boulder

This one is also relatively simple, and has much the same issue as the first point. Gonk is just barely slower than the projectiles, but at the end of the day those projectiles are 1m in size and have to travel 25m to actually hit him. In your post you mentioned that they hit around the same time as the spears, which was almost directly after Gonk transformed... but like... those spears only had to travel 4m... these projectiles have to travel just over 6x that distance. So, just to be clear, Gonk was def not hit by the projectiles.

3. Wotah

This one is the more tricky of the three issues solely because it just comes down to whether or not we think the action of putting a tag in a specific water source is something that needs to be done IC or not. Personally, I do not believe that it is something the user should need to actually do, and as such I think the use of the tag is perfectly valid. I will be clear here though... the fact that Gonk used his tech from above changes nothing about the speed of it. It is implied in the post itself that it forms faster than usual due to the scales having to fall, but that is blatantly false. It will form at the same speed regardless of whether the scales rise or fall.

So, as was pointed out to me shortly after I posted initially, the item has an outright clause that the tag HAS to have a set location, as noted in the app itself. Not only that though, even if the water tag went through I do not believe the use of the Grand Dome of Scales would be valid in this case, as the app itself notes that the user is the centre of the dome, meaning Gonk can't choose to simply form it from the water in the Kunai above Yuuma. So, in this case, Gonks actions with the tag and the Dome do not go through. Apologies for any confusion

-------------------------------------

And so ends another episode of Battle Moderation with Kenshin. I hope the two of you enjoy the rest of your fight, and just remember that if I am called in here again I will probably tease you both a bit. Peace out

Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Re: Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Tue Apr 27, 2021 10:33 pm
Gonk’s escape was quick and easy, pulling off his actions with plenty of time to spare before the spears hit him. He then proceeded as planned, dodging the boulders and destroying the dragon. However, when he tried to activate his water summoning paper, nothing happened.
“What?” Gonk wondered as he continued running and tried again. “Damn this thing must be defective or something. The person I bought it from said the other end was already placed. Maybe that was a lie or it got destroyed or something. But either way, it looks like that attack is a bust.” Since the area wasn’t blanketed in darkness like he had planned, Gonk decided not to risk going for a frontal attack, and instead stopped right at the edge of the boulder. While he didn’t know it, this would force Yuuma to change his plans for the earth spear attack as there was no room in front of Gonk for the spears to form.

As he saw Yuuma start to rise into the air, Gonk quickly formed 5 hand seals and out of the river five meters ahead of him arose a dragon made of water. This dragon immediately shot out of the river and started flying towards the rising earth pillar. Since it was slower than the rising block of earth, Yuuma had already performed his jutsu by the time the dragon had traveled 12 meters. Seeing the spears of wood traveling towards him, the dragon turned straight upwards and started traveling up for 17 meters, dodging any spears that came at it by bending it’s 3 meter wide body. It made sure to move as soon as it saw a spear come at it.

As for Gonk, he formed four more hand seals, causing his hands to be coated in mist. Then he once again reached into his weapon pouch and pulled out two kunai and two tags, this time red. Gonk quickly poured his chakra into the tags, then attached a tag to each kunai. Once the rising earth core reached its full height, he threw the kunai so they would be 0.1 meters above the earth protection Yuuma had fashioned for himself. The first kunai traveled on a path that would take it one meter from the left edge of Yuuma’s patch of earth. The second one would end up one meter from the right side of the earth. In other words, they were each 0.5 meters away from the center. This ensured that Gonk could hit Yuuma with the explosions no matter where on the platform he was. Any spears that tried to intercept them would be destroyed by the sheer force that was behind the kunai.

Deciding that he was done playing Yuuma’s games, Gonk spread the mist on his hands to his blade as he drew it, then leapt into the air, heading straight for the top of the chunk of earth. Since he had to gain a total of 4.1 meters in elevation in order to clear the railing created by Yuuma and travel a total of 25 meters forwards, his total jump distance was 25.33. Any spears that tried hitting him while he was in the air would be cut down by his mist infused blade Kiribachi, being splintered similarly to any ones that tried to hit the kunai.

The kunai, which were traveling at the much faster speed of 140 would reach Yuuma long before Gonk, and so, when he detonated the blasts, Gonk was outside of the zone. The paper bombs would be detonated as soon as the kunai came alongside Yuuma. Meanwhile, the dragon, once reaching the 17 meters it needed to, continued straight towards the raised piece of earth, ready to assist where needed.

This was it, the moment Gonk had been waiting for, as his feet touched down on the railing, Gonk would swing his blade in a downwards diagonal strike, aiming to cut Yuuma from his shoulder to his waist. That is of course, assuming he was still up there after the paper bomb blasts. “Let’s see what you can do up close and personal,” Gonk thought with an inwards grin.

Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Re: Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Wed Apr 28, 2021 4:52 am
Something was in the air. It was hard to determine what, but all at once, Yuuma felt a tension crash into him as sweat dot along his brow. Something was about to happen. He could feel it. His eyes watched as the dragon of water sprout forth from the river about ten meters ahead of him and began moving up to a height just above the platform, though thankfully, Yuuma didn’t miss what came next. “More Kunai?” he thought to himself, brow furrowing. These, too, were attached to tags and flung in his direction, this time much more directly towards Yuuma though not exactly. Then a sword was drawn, and a hand waved over it as though some manner of jutsu was meant to take effect though nothing seemed to happen; whatever jutsu the Hoshigaki just tried to utilize on his sword seemed to have failed to apply once more after the two kunai left his hand, leading Yuuma to believe that these kunai had been adjusted in some manner that the sword was not. It was about this time that the first set of pillars bombarded into the target that had been acquired from thirteen meters away and fired upon. Gonk, having been standing on the edge of the rock, meant that he had closed the ten-meter radius distance from the center of the bolder. This made the distance between Gonk and Yuuma fifteen meters. The pillars had formed a length of two meters pointed towards their intended target, making the closing distance for the first set perhaps much closer than the Hoshigaki had thought. Then, it happened. The moment Yuuma had been waiting for. Gonk jumped from the rock in an attempt to close the distance between them. This could decide the battle.

From the side of the Earth Core tower in Gonk’s direction, an Earth Flow spear would manifest and shoot forward once Gonk was a meter into his jump, aiming to meet him at half of the remaining distance (7m) in mid-air aimed directly at his lower torso. At the same time, the hand holding the ball of energy would lift, hovering just above the now shooting spear and unleashing a six-inch by six-inch beam of blazing energy, following a similar path of travel as the spear and aiming to slam directly into Gonk’s upper chest a split moment after the spear below it, careful not to collide his two techniques together. Before either attack reached their mark, however, Gonk would take his sword into the rest of the oncoming spears. The blade met a sharpened Rock Pillar spear mid-flight head-on, opposing sharpness to sharpness as the two attacks connected at a point on the sword that was half a meter from the hilt. The attacks hit directly, and the pillar splinters and dissipated but not before putting a significant amount of damage to the health of the blade (40 points). And in the last wave of spears, the swords would again meet a sharpened pillar blade to blade, and this time, both implements shattered (another 40 points). The sword hilt in Gonk’s hand is now attached to a broken blade roughly half a meter in length, the rest of the weapons tumbling to the ground below.

Those kunai had not been forgotten, either. Once they passed within seven point six eights of a meter (7.68m) from the platform, another duo of spears would form twelve meters up from the ground on the same side as the spear rushing towards Gonk. These, however, were angled to puncture upwards and directly into the underside of the kunai just as they reached three meters from the earth core tower. The spears would smash into the tools where the blade connected to the hilt, rending the weapon apart with ease. Sundered, the half of the kunai with the charged explosive tags on it would fall back and to the ground, failing to reach their destination and thus failing to explode but remaining active.

Yuuma had not been inactive this whole time, mind you. By the time spears to deal with the kunai had begun to form, Gonk was cutting into the first wave of pillars. Finally, job complete, Yuuma’s left hand would morph from the Snake and instead move into a series of four seals. Tiger. Horse. Ram. Clone. In a poof of smoke, a single identical twin to Yuuma was created who had a splendid understanding of what was to come next. The clone appears one meter to the right of Yuuma, stationed on the platform and just behind the standing barrier facing the same direction as the original. The clone instantly began making a set of seals on each hand. On the right hand: Tiger. Ox. Ram. On the left: Snake. Rat. Ox. From the earth tower around them, three more sections of earth formed into three separate two-meter-long poles that were sharpened on end facing their targets. Appearing horizontally from the earth tower, two-faced in Gonk’s direction, and the third turned more to the incoming water dragon. As Gonk was struck by the spear and bullet combo, these poles also fired at their respective targets, two aimed into the torso of Gonk and the third racing to meet the Water Dragon head-on. As the rods formed, so too did a splendid bow made from chakra appear in the clone’s Left hand, and with a simple draw of the clone’s right hand across the string, drawing chakra to their hand and pulling back. An earth elemental arrow strung itself across the bow and was fired—this arrow aiming for the torso of Gonk at his current position and compensating for his mid-air trajectory. Once loosed, the clone would draw their hand across the bow again, gathering chakra and knocking a second arrow that was aimed and fired into the oncoming dragon, compensating for any strange evasive maneuver the ability might have used against the flying rod.

Presuming Gonk withstood the assault of so many different attacks, Yuuma would move to avoid the jumping man with a quick duck as Gonk drastically overshot the barrier, concluding his jump some seven meters beyond the railing he may have originally been aiming for. Both Yuuma and his clone would dart to the other side of the earth tower to get a better idea of what had become of his opponent.

Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Re: Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Wed Apr 28, 2021 6:14 pm
Gonk frowned as the mist dissipated from his hands before it could spread to his blade.
“Interesting,” Gonk thought as he returned his sword to his back. “I guess I only get two charges out of this jutsu.” Gonk then jumped forwards as planned, but it would seem he miscalculated the amount of force he needed to make the jump.
“Damn, I'm not going to make it to the rail!” Gonk realized as he saw himself drawing nearer to the chunk of earth. Gonk had taken off his glasses before entering the arena, and it would seem his vision was worse because of it. Gonk had estimated that Yuuma was 25 meters away, when in actuality they were 15 meters apart. Because of this, Gonk’s jump had a less steep slope than what was necessary to clear the railing. If he continued on his current course, Gonk would end up 14.46 meters up the earth. But Gonk didn’t intend on missing the target.

When Gonk was 1 meter into his jump, Gonk noticed a spear of earth form and start growing directly in his path, and a beam of energy shoot out of Yuuma’s finger. There were also several earth spears flying through the air towards him.
“It’s time to change course,” Gonk thought. “If I’m hit by this barrage of attacks I’m a goner.”
So Gonk formed four hand seals and formed a shadow clone directly behind him. As soon as it was formed, the clone shoved Gonk upwards at full strength, putting him at a slope that would take him where intended. Since the clone didn’t have the same forward momentum as Gonk, he fell straight down to the ground below him, landing two meters away from the base of the boulder. This shove also caused Gonk to move faster, now traveling at a speed of 125 due to the strength of the push. None of Yuuma’s attacks would have reached Gonk before he was launched, so when they reached the area where Gonk would have been, Gonk and his clone were already long gone. Additionally, Gonk would no longer be on the path to hit the earth flow spear that manifested on the side of the tower as it had been created horizontally at the elevation Gonk would have been had he not been moved.

As Gonk grew closer he saw three more spears shoot into the air, only they didn’t shoot anywhere near either Gonk or his dragon. They had been created horizontally and exactly One meter away from Yuuma, so while they shot in the direction of their targets, they flew over their heads. These shots were not led, as they were shot at the same time the earlier attacks would have hit Gonk. As Gonk continued to move forwards in the air, he saw an arrow flying at him. Gonk raised his arm and when the arrow became in range of his arm, Gonk slapped the shaft at full force, knocking it to the ground. When he did this he made sure not to touch the sharp arrow head to avoid hurting himself. Meanwhile, Gonk realized that the dragon wasn’t going to be much help from there on out and dispelled the jutsu. It had served a purpose by diverting some of the attacks, so Gonk was satisfied.

But now the moment was here. Despite all that was thrown at him he was still able to reach the ledge. For some reason, when he landed Yuuma and his clone ran to the other side of the ledge.
“He’s probably scared of my incredible strength,” Gonk thought as he immediately stomped his foot down from the mantle onto the rising earth core. A shock wave would expand out from Gonk’s foot, knocking Yuuma 5 meters into the air and destroying the clone. During all of this time, the shadow clone hadn’t been just standing around, it had been closing the distance on foot, and now stood at the base of the earth, ready to intercept Yuuma if he tried to come to the ground. Yuuma’s reaction to Gonk’s attack would decide the victor of this fight, and Gonk didn’t intend for it to be Yuuma.

Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma Empty Re: Chunin Exam Round 3 Match 1: Gonk vs Yuuma

Thu Apr 29, 2021 2:56 am
“This boy has no shortage of tricks,” Yuuma thought to himself as the opposing clone appeared and reached for the original copy. Truly, had this been a real fight, Yuuma might have been quite concerned that his opponent was doing so well to dodge all of his attacks. But he was not out of moves yet. As the boy was flung upward, Yuuma’s right hand would reach over his left triceps and brushed the bandages aside, his hand summoning forth a smoke bomb from the newly uncovered seal before he smashed the ball directly onto the edge of the barrier, smoke beginning to quickly expand around them. Gonk, striking at the arrow, would find the chakra-produced projectile to perhaps be a lot more dangerous than he thought. The earth-enhanced arrow splitting his knuckle as he struck it.  The clone, meanwhile, angled its formed sectional canes upwards and let loose with the attack in a triangle formation aiming to collide directly with the torso of Gonk- two into his upper chest; one left and one right, and the third aiming for his lower abdomen creating a triangle with a downwards point. Thankfully, this only took a thought to accomplish as the clone drew its right hand over the bow and summoned chakra, forming a pair of arrows and firing them shortly after the canes had been loosed. These arrows, like the ones before, had aimed directly into Gonk’s chest though trailed just behind the rods and compensating for the new trajectory of the incoming foe. All the while, the clone backed up a meter and a half on the platform before ducking low in the cover of the smoke, the left hand that had been holding the bow already moving in a series of hand seals as it had been holding the bow to fire. Dog. Bird. Horse. Boar. Snake. Ox. Rat.

No sooner had smoke began to cover the area than Yuuma used the concealment to implement his next plan. Both hands moving to the opposing triceps and adjusting the wraps clear, an explosive tag appearing in each hand. As they were moved to be placed, Yuuma channeled chakra into the explosive tags and placed them down, each of them only half a meter to the left and right of where Gonk had been moving to land before moving back a meter and a half himself, activating his chakra suppression skill to make his presence reduce to nothing. And what Gonk would see as he landed is a completely clear platform, a disturbance in the middle of the platform suggesting that Yuuma had fled beneath the earth, the rails clear of any indication of the trap in waiting, and an absolutely massive dragon head measuring at one meter height and width appearing on the opposite end of the platform, opening its mouth and a light displaying in its mouth indicating it was prepared to fire off the same bullets he had seen before.

What Yuuma had been waiting for, however, was to see Gonk landing. Immediately upon Gonk entering Yuuma’s range of vision two meters from his current position (putting Gonk half a meter from the railing), a pair of one-meter diameter bullets would be seen launching from the opposite end of the platform and colliding with the front of Gonk as the two explosive tags on either side of the boy would detonate, exploding in a duo fireball that would consume the boy. Yuuma and the clone had both taken a low profile, stooping down to the ground. The clone continued to hold the bow. Yuuma, on the other hand, held a pair of hand seals at the ready. In his left was the Dog. His right held the symbol of the Bird. If Gonk stomped in an effort to utilize his taijutsu, he may very well be surprised when nothing seemed to happen.
