Wanderlust for Rice Empty Wanderlust for Rice

Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:18 pm
“You’re more lost than you realize~”

Those words faintly breathed from her rose - tinted lips. Her lashes fluttered for a moment from the brightness of the sun. Kana Mi had just spent most of the night traveling from the borders of fire. Her eyes were still adjusting from the change of lighting.

Despite the sun casting a golden glow upon her garnet hair, the young woman could still feel a slight shiver working through her petite form. The weather looked beautiful, but the cold was not absent. It was a blessing that she managed to have a shawl of tattered jackrabbit fur to help shelter herself from some of the bitten cold air. The shawl was something she made from the rabbits she hunted for food. It was nothing out of the ordinary for a huntress to wear. It wasn’t any special armor, just something to keep her warm.

Sometimes when she ever found a secluded place to settle for a nap within the wilderness, Kana found the shawl to be a wonderful blanket.

It was fortunate she had found that nest of jackrabbits so easily that night. Kana had traveled somewhat of a distance from the road. She knew that other bandits and some vagabond preferred to have a lookout along it. Along the way through some brush, the redheaded woman encountered a melody of rapid beating hearts. The musk scent of rabbits tickled her nose.

From there Kana had found the nest. She took it as an opportunity to quince her thirst with their warm, crimson life - essence. The blood she drank from them warmed her being and helped her get through that cold night. Even after washing herself off in a stream, the blood still had her stirring. The only thing left behind was a faint tint upon her soft lips. Almost as if her lips had been kissed by a rose or some sort of beauty was applied to them.

But now back to where she currently was. Back to where she mentioned being lost.

Kana Mi wasn’t actually lost in a sense of direction. No, she was actually now coming up to the fields of Tanbogakure. She had found her way just fine. What she meant when she muttered those words, was that her thoughts were lost.

It never took long for the young woman to feel that she no longer belonged in a place. The land of Fire wasn’t the first place she inhabited after being cast out from Mist. She’s stayed at quite a few places. Jumping to somewhere new before her reputation really grew.

But here she was now. . in the land of Rice. She had no way of knowing what this visit would bring her. Maybe some splendid sake would do. Kana knew she had no intentions of causing any trouble here. For now, she felt that being a good huntress would be best in her interest. Just a stray ninja disguised to be a simple game huntsman with skill. Nothing about her appearance should stir any suspension. No fangs were visible, and no weapon at her side. Just a small woman dressed in garbs with a fur shawl, and fiery red hair ornamented with raven feathers.   - Waited the 12 hours for travel -

Hanzo was once again doing favors for the village, as was the way of a true Tanbogakure shinobi. Today he was told to watch the gate, so that if any visitors came through they would bear witness to a model Tanbogakure citizen. It helped that he was a rather huge man himself, with his muscles defined in such a way that it could be a big indicator that those within Tanbogakure definitely loved to eat their rice. And so the mountain of muscle gazed up from the little booth that the guards were stationed in. He had his first warhammer resting in the corner of the booth itself, with the other draped across his back, held there by a sash and completely wrapped up like a gift.

Having been stationed here all night wasn't exactly what Hanzo considered to be a good use of his talents nor time, but he did like seeing all of the comings and goings of foreigners from the quaint little settlement that was Tanbogakure. Since he knew deep down in his soul that eventually word of their high quality Sake would spill out to the other nations, he didn't mind volunteering his services to aid the village in any way. More tourists, more problems, after-all. Still, he had enjoyed reading his book thus far, though a rather attractive individual was approaching now. Which he noticed as he looked up from his book, that being the third volume of Icha Icha. He'd gaze out towards her with a blank stare, observing.

"Yo!~" The signature greeting of the Kurokawa giant, he took a moment to watch this mysterious female closely before he shuffled out of the booth with a gourd in his hand. Making his way over towards her while he whistled to himself softly. His eyes took a moment to look her up and down and he was surprised that she didn't dress heavily given the winter weather that permeated Tanbogakure at this time. He didn't think too much about it, however, as his gaze settled upon her face. Not quite making eye contact but definitely focusing on her. He knew better than to watch people's eyes due to his Uchiha friend. No, he focused on her lips and spoke to her in a cheerful tone.

"You certainly seem ta be well dressed. Is there anything I can help ya with?" Despite the calmness of his words, the man looked to be nothing more than a thug in fine clothing, his stance and posture suggested as much as well. He was dressed in a velventeen Yukata and he seemed to like the shinobi protector that would have signified that he was a ninja, so to the outside world he likely just looked like a citizen. He wore his cherry-wood sandals and he seemed to have bright yellow eyes that peered at her as though he was a cat. For seem reason, he seemed to be... covered in an oily substance. He waited for her reply, of course, seeing nothing worth being afraid of thus far. But he was alert, which was why he stood five meters away from her.

Wanderlust for Rice Empty Re: Wanderlust for Rice

Fri Jan 21, 2022 2:43 am
The rumors from the tavern back in the land of Fire really were true. Her eyes gazed upon the thriving crop fields as she walked along. The young woman’s eyes were like dark rubies as they marveled at the crops. Even in this cold weather, they seemed to be as healthy as possible.

The air did not seem much different from the land of Fire. Winter was obvious as the air bit with fangs of cold. But where she just came from had nothing on these golden rice fields. What really shocked Kana Mi was discovering the fact that Tanbogakure didn’t hold gates at the front of its village. Instead, it looked as if its civilization spread along the front and further back inside where there were different layers for different uses.

That was when a voice called out to greet her.

Kana Mi was not foolish enough to assume that, despite the lack of gates, Tanbokagure was absent of some sort of patrol within its front. She turned her attention towards the direction of the man who spoke, seeing as he made his way over to where she was.

The first thing that the redhead woman would have used as a way to describe the man. . was that he was massive, and that wasn’t even an exaggeration. The man easily towered over her form by what seemed like a whole foot!

Kana allowed her curious eyes to explore the man’s aspect. Despite the brute outlook he possessed from the neck down, his face held flawless qualities and his attire was simple yet praiseworthy. “Your attention is much appreciated, sir. I’ll be honest with my interest in what I’ve been hearing from many others, that this place has fabulous sake and rice meals.” Kana Mi caught her eyes daringly glazing upon his golden ones, but only for a brief moment, as he gazed upon her moving lips. She found the golden hues to be very unique. “I hope I’m not being much of a bother coming around. I’m a huntsman that also fancies traveling in search of tracking many different game."

The woman spoke of her love for hunting. She didn't do it in terms of a sport, but more as an appreciation for the animals. The act of hunting proved to be rewarded with knowledge of the animals and the environment around them. Their meat staved off her hunger, and their furs kept her warm. Kana also believed that Lord Jashin appreciated the bones and blood that she buried for him as if she was providing some sort of offering.

Even from the calmness of his voice, Kana made sure to be well aware of her surroundings even while displaying herself as harmless. Kana wondered whether the man had any information about what animals thrived within the land of Rice, and about the best place to grab a drink.  {WC: 480 | TWC: 1,016}

Hanzo listened to the woman's story tentatively, though he did steal a few more glances of her figure because... well this was Hanzo. He appreciated beauty in all forms, women just sat at the top of that totem pole. He'd reach up with his left hand and grasp his own chin, gazing back at her lips before he flashed her a perfect smile. "Sounds good! For a hunter you certainly don't seem to have super rough looking hands, but here in Tanbo your life outside of the village hardly matters so long as you behave yourself."  He made that clear quickly and concisely. "I'm sure you'll fit right in gorgeous!"  He started to laugh rather loudly as he motioned with his hand towards her. "Come!"

He'd walk away from her, making his way back over towards the booth before entering it and then looking over towards the feminine figure. He didn't exactly trust in her story, not because she didn't look like a hunter. But because he didn't trust anyone that was even remotely attractive. That was how you ended up with your liver carved out of you in your sleep. "A few things. You need to fill out a registration form, take a picture for your personal identification card, keep that card on you at all times! Very important. I will now tell you the benefits of the pass."  He reached his hands underneath the desk and the window that separated himself from the woman was clean enough so that he could see her clear as day.

He never looked away from her as he shuffled around the papers that were underneath the desk situated at this window, until he pulled one up and slid it underneath the slit at the bottom of the glass alongside a writing apparatus. He'd take a swig of his mysterious gourd before he'd set it down and cross his arms over each other. Keeping his eyes on her lips just like he had done before. "Now, this visa will get you access to the residential district and all of the areas within, its very clear how all the districts are divided. There are signs all over the place. You may NOT enter the military district under any circumstance."  He thought about mentioning to her that there would be a routine cavity search, but he didn't wanna be that guy today.

"Now, I am going to need to see a copy of your travel documents, so go ahead and slide that under the glass alongside the filled form."  He could be professional when needed. "Now, if you have any comments, questions or concerns you can always ask me now or later if you see me in the village. My name is Hanzo."  He never gave out his last name to strangers since he knew that the transformation technique was a thing and he wanted there to be easy ways for people to tell when he was around or not. He didn't bother to ask her name since it was going to be on the documents regardless. He simply waited for her to finish up whatever it was she was trying to do and then he could send her on her way. Harassing a girl at the gates wasn't exactly his style. Especially when he could just do it in a bar.

Like a normal person.

Wanderlust for Rice Empty Re: Wanderlust for Rice

Fri Jan 21, 2022 5:47 am
So far everything seemed to be going without a hitch. The man graced her with a handsome smile as he reassured her. Letting her know that whatever her backstory was, wouldn’t be a problem as long as she behaved herself. Which Kana Mi had all intentions of doing. The comments he made about her hands were taken more as a compliment than an insult, as her lips returned his smile. It just meant that she took good care of them.

“Maybe I’ll honor you with a souvenir from one of my hunts.” Kana playfully voiced her statement as he motioned the woman to follow him. There was no way of knowing if Kana meant her words, or if she was just being playful.

Now standing by the booth that he entered. Kana waited patiently as he explained some important information, and what was required for her visit. His attention never seemed to shift from her position. Kana did the same. She entertained her focus on his form and the masculine particularities that sometimes defined beneath his Yakuta. It was a little unusual that he was covered in some sort of oily residue. Wondering if it was something that occurred during some line of work he did.

He slid some papers beneath the glass window in her direction. Her eyes lingered on him a little longer, before they shifted to the writing provided on the paper. Kana continued to read through it, as she withdrew some of her travel documents from beneath the shawl that rested upon her small shoulders. “I’ll do my best to not get into too much trouble.” Kana teased lightly. It didn’t really concern her whether or not he believed her, just as long as there was no trouble between them.

Her documents were slid beneath the window as she followed through the protocols. After everything was taken care of, Kana took hold of the writing instrument to fill out the paper accordingly. “What a handsome name~ You’re more than welcome to call me Kana Mi” Her hand hovered gracefully over the paper as she filled it out. “There are a few things I would like to ask actually. I was interested in some fine brewery, and perhaps a market to obtain a bow. Would you help me?” As if on queue to her plea, the woman batted her long eyelashes.

Hanzo smiled at her kind offer, "It would be a pleasure." He wasn't often given as gifts in any way, so that was something that he felt was rather interesting to say the least. He wondered what kind of things she hunted, hopefully she wasn't going to like give him some village protector from someone that was obliterated for looking at her sideways. Kunika made him paranoid of a lot of smaller women, he had never seen such aggression in such a small package. This woman comparably to his own size fit that description rather perfectly. Though he wasn't going to treat her like she was some wild animal just because she made him nervous. No, he would keep up the welcoming environment of Tanbogakure.

He'd raise up the camera and aim it at her once she slide him the papers, he'd wait for a moment for her to smile or give him any indication she was ready and then he'd snap the photo, moving the camera aside.

Looking over her credentials he didn't see any red flags. He wasn't trained enough in documentation to notice if her travel documents were forgeries or the real deal. Quite frankly he didn't care either. They had tons of missing nin roaming about the village. He noticed that she was born in the hidden mist, which made his suspicions of her being potentially violent confirmed right down to the letter. For some reason she ended up in Konoha and now she was here for a vacation. Opposed to the Land of the Hot Springs. Might have been strange to him if he wasn't a heavy drinker. Her desire to drink the best stuff around certainly intrigued him enough to dismiss that line of thinking almost entirely.

He'd start to reach under the desk, pulling out a pass that had the picture he took earlier and all of her credentials on it. He'd slide it underneath the glass as well as her documents, winking at her in a friendly manner.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful woman." He complimented her before continuing to answer her questions in a friendly yet serious tone. "Ya can't miss the market, it is the area with the highest density." He still had to be on shift for a little while longer, so he couldn't go out of his way to escort her. He wasn't the best at speaking directions either, so he came up with a different solution. "You're gonna want ta go ta Mai Gato's shop, ya literally cannot miss it on account of the fact that its underbuilt and there are ads placed up all over town with her face smack onto them." He had taken out a blank parcel and began to scrawl some directions onto the paper that directed her towards both Gato's shop and the second location that he was bringing up conjunctively.

"The second place ya wanna go, especially if you're trying ta drink the best sake in the most comfortable environment is Taika's Tea and Bathhouse. Its a small shop, but ya will notice it by the amount of traffic it has. Just look for Kaien and Nazumi Takai. They will set ya up right." He was bias as hell, "Though we have a bunch of different sake peddlers running around and such. Given the festival. But if ya want the best, Taikas. If that is all, you're free ta head on inside. Enjoy yer stay here in Tanbogakure." He began to usher her off before mentioning one last thing to her. "Might do ya some good ta speak ta the local butchers if yer want ta learn about the local fauna for ya hunting. No one in particular comes ta mind, but we have a few veterans of the trade ya can find. Now go enjoy yourself, gorgeous.~"

Wanderlust for Rice Empty Re: Wanderlust for Rice

Kana's rose-tinted lips flashed the camera a gentle grin for the picture. She didn't know how well it would go after filling out the form. Keeping everything mostly honest as to where she was from and her reasons for visiting Tanbogakure. Her last name was of course a written fraud, but not knowing that she was part of a blood-thirsty Kyuketsuki couldn't be that big of a deal.

The kind Hanzo reasured her that everything was still going accordingly, as he passed her the documents and pass from the glass window. Kana collected the papers and sheltered them within her fur shawl.

Nothing could describe how thankful the woman was as the man took the time to give her some directions to what she had asked for. She watched patiently as he wrote down on the paper as a way to help her some more. "I'll definitely be sure to ask about the wildlife around here. Once again, I really do appreciate you're time in assisting me."

She gathered the paper with the scripted directions. The Taika's Tea and Bathhouse indeed captured her attention. Perhaps she would stop there first before attempting anywhere else. Flashing him one more playful grin as she attempted to amuse him with a graceful curtsey. "I do hope to have the pleasure of meeting you again, Hanzo~"

Hanzo waved the woman off with a large grin on his face. "Likewise!" He was glad that someone other than a merchant was finally coming through the gates. He wasn't a fan of this particular task, but he liked to do his community service none the less. Tanbogakure wasn't some military powerhouse filled to the brim with people that would rather keep their citizens and visitors as prisoners. It was a place to relax, unwind and come together with a common goal. There were plenty other villages in the world to visit and join up with if your goal was to thrust your dominance over the rest of the world. He didn't get that kind of vibe living here. Did it make it the best village? Not really, Hanzo was a monster bred for battle after-all.

But he couldn't deny the fact that he was vastly intrigued by the types of people that gathered here. The fact that the Komekage was so willing to allow for a wide variety of people to come to the village in the first place was exciting. Especially in the case of Hanzo, who himself was your run of the mill muscle for hire, bandit goon type. Always the bride's maid and never the bride as they say. He didn't mind putting his talents to work if it meant that the village would prosper as a result of his actions. There was a level of excitement to this whole affair that he was excited about to say the least. As the woman walked off, he'd stay in the booth for at least thirty minutes more. Greeting more people until his shift ended.

"Ah... I forgot to check her out from the back... mission failed." Hanzo stood there in the booth staring out of the glass pane window, contemplating how rusty he was getting. There was a overwhelming sense of failure in him that made him come to a conclusion that he should have came too long ago. He needed to go beat up Kato to feel better. Yes, his kohai, the legendary Uchiha of Tanbogakure. The Sage of Rice Paddies himself. Veins grew all over Hanzo's face as he figured that this man had to be the one to blame for his rustiness. He took out a piece of paper and began to write down one simple note: 'Falcon Punch Kato'. With a smile being restored to his face, he took out his oil gourd, pouring it over his face with a smile. Exiting the booth, he went to find one of his blood brothers.
