Her cold mug slammed against the surface of the tavern’s bar as she finished her drink. Ever since she got here, the place had been buzzing with rumors and conversations. So Kana Mi took the time to indulge herself in some fine brewery. She didn’t mind eavesdropping a little during her stay.
“I’m growing bored of this place~” The red haired lass muttered to herself under her fallen breath. It wasn’t easy finding work within the borders, and as of lately, Kana had been working alone. She didn’t mind working in solitary, but on her off days, this place was starting to get boring. The only place she knew to go during her downtime was to this tavern. Even that was growing old.
The bartender behind the counter gave the woman a worrisome look as she let her head fall onto the bar counter. A groan hovered from her lips as Kana’s forehead banged against the wood. With a light shrug, the bartender continued to polish his glasses.
Kana continued resting her head full of red locks against the counter. She was in no hurry to get up. One of the feathery ornaments braided within her hair tickled against the tip of her nose. She sneezed from it.
Kana listened to the voices around her. The tavern had always been a good place to collect information and rumors from the gossiping drunkards. It was funny how much someone would like to hear themself talk after drowning themselves in liquor, and Kana Mi was the one that liked to listen from a distance.
Today’s gossip didn’t seem very useful. All she seem to hear about is a village that had been growing in popularity. Some of the drunkards spewed about their visit there and the vast scenery of crop fields. Apparently, the place was well-known for its splendid sake and rice.
Not really something that Kana was worried about at the moment. But the name of the place wouldn’t leave her thoughts alone.
Kana finally raised her head up, ordering herself one last drink for the night. “Tanbogakure. . I keep hearing its name. Do you happen to know anything about the place?” She questioned the bartender about her curiosity about the rumors.
With that, the bartender was able to entertain her question with a little information about the place. There wasn’t much to know. But the population seemed high for such a small place.
When Kana left the tavern that night, she made the decision to travel there. Right now. . this place just wasn’t calling to her. Kana always had a habit of jumping from one place to another, and that was one of those times, she assumed. She prepared herself for the cold journey. Not much was within her possession, but enough to survive the harsh weather.
It turns out that Tanbogakure wasn’t far from where she already was. Just next to the fire countries borders to be precise.
