Drink….drank……drunk

Mission Details :

Origami had not been the competitive catalyst that Asahi Yagami would have preferred.  Which was fortunate, as he’d had no chance of wining anything, through pity he had gained his admittance.  Now however, he found a setting to put his skills to the test.  Not with blade nor wit, but with grit of gut.  Within the fair grounds, among the Sakura blossoms blowing an area had been dedicated to a drinking contest.  Massive casks held up on wooden stages, with mugs aplenty beneath.  Tables and benches spread out, as each person registered and found their assigned places.  Scrawling out his signature, he quickly sat and found his place.  

Still wrapped in his pale pink Sakura kimono, Asahi fiddled with his hair.  The teal of his nail polish clashing brilliantly with the pink, and yet somehow it worked.  The head judge was spouting on and on about the festival, the drinks that were available and how this was one of many such contests of drink that would occur.  Supposedly this drinking contest in particular was centered around a variety of ciders.  He listed the fruits and different orchards that had provided them…..in truth Asahi only half paid attention.  Instead he focused on looking around the table at his fellow nearby competitions.  He’d wink and wave, his smile always evident.  

It wasn’t long until the first round of mugs were delivered.  An apple cider of an unusually high alcohol content to start the contest right.  The deep brown and wafting smell of apples rose up from the mug, as Asahi brought it to his lips, and proceeded to down the contents in a single spectacular gulp.  Slamming it down, he’d shout for another with a tinkling laugh.  That was how to start a contest.

The days was going on as a blur. Like some fast picture image that was in motion, but hardly recognized. When things was like this Kana found it easier to distract herself from that feeling by having a drink or two. . or maybe three.

There were fliers everywhere that advertised many different competitions, and fun events that was in motion for the celebration of Spring. It made sense, Spring was the rebirth of the flowers, and the Sakura trees. It was a beautiful occurence.

It was no surprise that the redhead woman found herself more interested in the drinking competition over the rest that was presented amongst the fliers.

Dressed in a more formal attire that what she usually wore, Kana clothed herself in a seasonal gown that looked lovely with the spring colors. The cloth was soft like velvet and orange to imitate the golden rays of the sun. There was yellow tiger lilies embroidered within the beautiful gown. It was a very lovely gown, and matched with her fiery hair flawlessly.

A ruby red kanzashi pinned Kana's hair up from her face, a few strands of beads dangled freely from the ruby orchid that decorated the hair pin. It wasn't common for Kana to pin her hair in such manner, she still even had a colorful bird feather that rested right beside the decorated kanzashi
Bird feathers was one of her usual ornaments that the lass used within her hair.

Kana realized that she must have arrived a little late to the competition. When she found the area that it was taking place, the instructor was no longer going over the ciders that would be provided as the drinks. It didn't matter much though. The lass wasn't very picky with what she drank.

She obtained a mug like everyone else, and quickly found herself a spot amongst the already crowded tables. Sitting herself across someone who seemed a little too familiar.

"A very flirtatious noble you seem to be." She teased as she took her seat, noting to the winks and charming smiles that the man flashed with ease. A playful grin tickled the corner of her lips as she drained the cider within the mug. The crisp flavor of apple aroused her tastebuds.

“Oooo I’m not sure about nobility, but if a little distraction can give me a leg up.”  He’d give a little shrug, “then what can one do, except play to win.”  His smile remained highly evident as his blue eyes focused in on the newcomer.  What had been merely a grin stretched however into a genuine smile of recognition as the girl came into focus.  “My my, the drinks aren’t the only sweetness presented to my life, Kana Mi in the flesh as I live and breathe.”  He’d laugh a little, his breath dress with the scent of apples.  He reached a hand out to shake hers, the teal of his polish catching the sun.  If she extended her hand, he’d lean forward brushing his lips across the back of her hand in a greeting more than an attempt at flirtation, that would likely come as more mugs went.  “Enjoying yourself?”  He would ask just as the next mug was laid down.

Aroma of pears filled the air now, as the next cider was presented.  He’d release her hand quickly and resume his courtship with the cup.  Downing it’s contents in a quick fashion.  Letting the flavors of pear and cinnamon cleanse his pallet.  The mugs would begin to come faster now.  Score keepers scrutinizing each individual to keep a Talley of how much they had drank.  “At least I have a fitting opponent.  I seem to remember you are well conditioned for such competitions.”  He’d say with a tinkling grin.

"A little distraction never hurts." Kana replied, her words formed from the smile upon her lips. The apple cider taste still seemed to cling to her tongue.

She accepted his gesture, extending her hand freely for his taking. No doubt her skin would be unusually cold to his touch. "You may think me sweet for now, but I tend to have a kick." Her lips smirked. Asahi was still flirtatious and smooth with his words, just like the last time she had company with him. Just a talent could prove to be quite deadly. Such a man could probably get away with just about anything if he so desired.

"It would be impossible for me to not enjoy myself, dear Asahi~ Such an event like this, free booze, and possibly a reward at the end." Kana's eyes brightened at the sigh for more mugs being handed to the tables. This time the smell of cinnamon wavered from the contents within. Kana's hand hugged the mug as she brought the rim to her lips. Just briefly hesitating to drink the pear cider as she spoke excitedly, "What could be more enjoyable than this?"

Of course that question wasn't the type that intented for an answer, but if the man had an interesting way to entertain her question Kana would be delighted to hear the other opportunities to spark her interest. She was a lass that looked forward to the fun in things. Sometimes that could lead her into careless situations that got the woman into trouble.

Asahi couldn’t help but smile at the flirtatious banter he was greeted with.  Kana Mi had made him smile more than once on their first meeting, and now it would seem the streak would continue.  “Well…..a taste of sweetness with a strong aftertaste is not something I could ever turn down.”  His lips moved into a smile just before he took another drink.

His drink would soon be finished, and the next several rounds would proceed through the tables.  Slowly folks would start to drop off, though for Asahi and Kana, it merely was a part of the conversation.  Before they knew it they were the final two.  “More fun than free drink, and a festival…..that is a tough thing to beat I’ll freely admit.  Though…..”. His face was full of mischief as he spoke, his eyes twinkling.  Maybe it was all the drink, but they were full of a thirst that a mere drink would not satiate.  “I can think of fun things to do.  A more intimate festival, and maybe an interesting way to enjoy a drink.”  He’d give a shrug, with accompanying wink.  

Another drink was laid in front of both of them.  Asahi could feel the heat in his cheeks, some from the alcohol but other reasons as well.  He’d hold his mug up as to cheers his only remaining opponent.  Should she reach forward and do the same he’d withdraw the cup, watching her.  Once she began to drink he’d pour the contents of his mug onto the green grass behind him.  That same wicked grin still spread.  “The lady win!”  He’d shout standing open, a loud roar at the woman’s victory would erupt, nearly defining the two of them.  Just beneath the crowd he’d lean over across the table, snatching her hand.  If allowed he’d brush his lips across the back of her hand, eyes peering into hers.  “Guess you’ll just owe me, I’m sure you’ll think of something.”

Once again the two was being playful with one another. Taking the drinking competition as if it was a mere game to them, an opportunity to reconnect with one another. With the two of them being the only ones remaining, Asahi allowed Kana to win by surrendering himself to defeat. She knew he did it intentionally. With a soft grin on her face and a twinkle in her eye, Kana finished the last mug.

For her reward, Asahi gifted her a kiss upon the back of her hand. The festival wasn't too bad. -Exits-
