Duncan would just scratch his head and let out a hearty laugh. Missions of class E? Why would the village assign him to complete such simple tasks? With a heavy sigh, he would pocket the paperwork and make his way towards the Thunderpeak Campus, high atop a steep mountain climb. If he didn't know any better, he would have suspected the village of giving him these assignments as punishment for his wrongdoings, yet he already did his time... maybe he was just thinking too much into it. Perhaps he was one of the only shinobi available to complete these tasks.
Looking them over, the giant of a man couldn't help but just shake his head. At least he wasn't stuck doing these lowly tasks alone. It would seem as if he was assigned to these missions with another. Waiting at the base of the climb, he would look for his partner before starting the trek. He wasn't wearing anything fancy, just the heavily worn clothing that he had. He was going to have to make efforts to replace those here soon.

"Aaah! Bear!!" A loud, startled shriek would interrupt Duncan's hike. A swift young man in a cyan knit cap and long blonde hair pointed at the seven footer and ducked behind a large rock, peering over with one of his light blue eyes. It was not too long ago when this particular shinobi was met with the task of dealing with a grisly bear, and the giant man coming up the hill had triggered his PTSD. After a brief moment of analysis, the blonde haired shinobi emerged from behind the rock. "Hey, you're no bear!" His voice now deep and raspy, completely calm in contrast to his panicked cackle just moments prior. He cleared his throat, clutching his oversized backpack. He wore his usual white short sleeved hoodie with a dark full sleeved top underneath - and cyan pants adorned with a starry pattern. His strange brown leather boots had spurs protruding from the back, and most notably of all, he wore a copper horseshoe that was stitched into his knit cap. His lips were of an odd dark blue hue, and his bronzed face was clean shaven.
"Hey, you must be here for the missions." He exclaimed, his face morphing from a bland stare into a delighted grin. He held a dark brown piece of paper. "I'm Saturn, pleased to make your acquaintance." He greeted the giant, before showing the piece of paper with the mission description on it.
".......Organize...... big pile...... identify......... transcribe...... unknown.........."
"What do you think it means?"

Duncan would hear a shriek and someone call out that they had seen a bear. Immediately, he would scan the area in attempts to locate the threat... only for the person to come out and make it clear that they were talking about Duncan. His imposing size must have caught them off guard, but he merely laughed it off. "Nope, not a bear. Just a really large man." He would let out a hearty laugh, his demeanor clearly that of a friendly man. Well, at least to his allies. "Nice to meet you Saturn. I'm Duncan." The lad was clearly well prepared for the trip. Perhaps almost too prepared judging by the size of that backpack. "Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, eh?" Duncan looked up towards the peak of the mountain path. "On the plus side, even if you don't use it the weight of that bag alone means you'll get a top notch workout."
Duncan would note that they made clear mention of missions, pulling out what seemed to be a well worn piece of paper. "Ah, its our assignment. I got some paperwork, too." The giant man would fish his documents out of his pocket, unfolding it and showing the paper to Saturn. "We have to head up to the Campus and read through some reports. If we find anything of note, we have to jot it down. Simple enough."
The trek up to the peaks was an easy one, as the path had been well worn by the many travelling students of the Thunderpeak Campus. Duncan would sit down at the desk, using two chairs to ensure that they would hold him without breaking. Before the pair was a large stack of papers with various mission reports. "How do you wanna do this? Each of us takes a stack and notes stuff down?" The large man didn't really mind how they approached this.

"Anything of note...?" Saturn repeated after Duncan, letting out a sigh. That description does not seem very specific. He thought to himself, but he knew his assigned partner had no more knowledge of the instructions given with the task at hand than he did. His comment on the comically large backpack behind Saturn's back fell on deaf ears. He had been carrying that bag around for so long, he did not even feel it on his shoulders. Neither was he fully sure what exactly was inside anymore. He hiked up to the peaks beside the giant all the way to the Thunderpeak Campus. Before Saturn could sit down on one of the two chairs that Duncan pulled out, the seven footer took his seat using up both the chairs. "Oh, right. Of course. Duh." Saturn muttered, and then chuckled awkwardly before grabbing his own chair, looking at the large stack of mission reports that Duncan pulled out. "We have to go through all of that?" He groaned at first. Perhaps there could be some information of value hidden in these files... He thought to himself shortly after, but deep down he knew he was probably being too hopeful. There's no way any files containing anything particularly exciting or sinful would be passed down for two Genin to analyze.
Walking over to the table, he gauged the halfway point on the large stack of papers and divided them into two approximately equal stacks, one next to the other. "So.. What do you think we're looking for exactly?"

Saturn seemed like an interesting sort, the groan upon seeing the size of the stack of papers causing Duncan to audible chuckle. "It's not as bad as it seems. This sort of work is just to get newer shinobi more accustomed to what all will be on mission reports. They try to pretend its some sort of research assignment with the lure of finding something new and exciting, but in the end there might be maybe one or two documents in the whole stack that have anything particularly noteworthy." Before his comrade could say anything Duncan would continue, "But hey, I might be wrong. This could be the stack of files with all of the cool secret techniques of our enemies in it." He would offer a smile, hoping that his lighthearted approach would help ease them in to the daunting and boring task sitting before them.
They would split the pile, Duncan starting to quickly scan through the reports one by one. Most of them were low rank mission reports. Find this missing cat or deliver these groceries to the old lady down the mountain. These were the sorts of missions that didn't even have any conflict with enemy shinobi to analyze. Sprinkled in with the boring stuff there were a few missions that looked like they saw combat. Of course, if a report with combat was rare then a report with combat in it that ALSO had details of some sort of new and unknown technique was like finding a hiding Hozuki in the water. You might get lucky, but odds are you weren't going to succeed. About halfway through the stack Duncan would speak up, "You find anything of note? I'm getting nothing at all."
Once they finished this task, they would have to move on to the next mission. Down the mountain they would have to go, all the way back into Kumogakure proper. It would seem as if they were tasked with investigating a massage parlor that was suspected of trafficking cadavers. "Is it just me, or is this next task a bit on the strange side?"

Re: E RANK MISSIONS?!?!

Note worthy... The words rang in Saturn's ears as he began his downward descent down the deathward spiral that was his own overthinking. Still listening to his distorted perception of Duncan's voice with a decent part of his restless attentiveness, he pondered on what kind of event was truly worthy as he planted his pointer finger on his blue bottom lip and tilted his blue eyes up and to the left. The subtle shift in Duncan's tone abruptly brought Saturn back to a common wavelength with his colleague as the Yamanaka would begin to once again hear more distinctly the words being spoken to him. "Cool secret techniques, huh?" Saturn touched the pile of files that Duncan had nonchalantly pointed out with his hopeful prediction, and smiled heartily at the shinobi in front of him. With those words, Saturn chose the pile that he was touching and sat down at the desk to begin his share of the work.
Skimming through the first few sheets carefully, the Yamanaka made his best effort to quickly and meticulously examine the contents of each report, scanning for anomalies within the limited time that he committed to each case. Vulture.. Vulture.. Vulture.. Saturn scanned through the reports, spotting the frequency of purse robberies among vultures. Swiftly, he began to separate the large stack into smaller stacks, grouping together similar reports. As for the brazen vultures that lurked the skies of Kumogakure, he was much too familiar with that particular endemic. Only days prior had Saturn nearly lost his whole life to a python in his attempt to possess a vulture to retrieve a stolen purse for a civilian. Tsk. This one snapped its neck.. Saturn cast his judgment on a report detailing the method employed by one of the Genin who undertook this familiar mission, though Saturn's attempt had also resulted in the death of the vulture. This one pulled off a perfect heist.. Saturn raised his brow looking visibly impressed as he skimmed through the most recent report concerning the aviary terror burglars.
As the sharp Yamanaka sorted and resorted the stacks classing file after file into different stacks on the table in front of him trying to see the different patterns of events taking place in the village around him, he reached a point where all of the files on the table were classed into what he believed was of the same type, but there was one last report in his hands that he could not quite figure out where to place. Just as Duncan reached the halfway point in his own stack and looked at Saturn for a comment, the blonde haired shinobi quietly placed the file in his hand on the desk in front of him and slid it towards the seven footer. "This one says the Raikage got into a bar fight at the Drunken Kage with a man called Johnny Sins...." Saturn scratched the back of his head, looking baffled, "....And almost killed him. It gets more bizarre.. Johnny was an ogre and the Raikage carried him to the hospital after their brawl. I wonder what this means....."
Saturn would pause, sigh and then continue. "Oh well. Besides that, I think this one here is the most note worthy report on my stack." He slid over the most recent report detailing the perfect execution of a purse retrieval from the brazen ever present marauder dinosaur in the skies of Lightning Country. "This here is the only case -- in my stack -- where a shinobi has retrieved a purse from a vulture without that resulting in the vulture's death. Anybody could fight tooth and nail to kill a bird and take a purse. Stealing it and slipping away from that predator unscathed *and* without hurting those big ugly stinking freebooters to boot -- I think that's more impressive." Saturn leaned forward planting his elbows on the desk, his fingers interlocked. The expression on his tanned face was solemn and extremely focused yet also pleasant and friendly. The direction of his focus was a mental reenaction of approaching a vulture's nest on his tippy toes and then leaving with a purse and a clean conscience.
As Duncan spoke again, Saturn's eyes darted to the desk where he had placed the brown crumbled piece of paper detailing his missions for today. Massage parlour... Trafficking cadavers... A drop of sweat manifested on his brow as he skimmed through the description of the second task at hand for the first time since he had accepted the job. The absurdity made him crack a smile at Duncan. Half of his face appeared creeped out and the other looked intrigued and eager to unravel the truth ahead of them. "That's crazy."

Duncan would scan the second half of his documents, wondering if his prediction would hold true as he flipped through report after report with nothing noteworthy in it. Saturn would speak up, mentioning an incident involving the Raikage and another person getting into a... bar fight? A rather interesting report, no doubt. The giant wondered if such a report was misfiled, ending up in these stacks by complete accident. The report would no doubt have a great deal of information regarding not only the battle outcome but likely the various techniques used. Very interesting indeed. The second report mentioned was that of someone retrieving a stolen purse from a vulture without harming even so much as a feather on it. His companion was right, any Kumo shinobi would have little issue slaughtering the scavenging bird with practically no effort at all. Of course, getting it back with stealth and trickery was far more difficult. Duncan wondered what the reasoning for avoiding confrontation with the bird was. Perhaps they have a healthy respect for life in all of its forms... or perhaps they simply wanted to challenge themselves with added conditions to make a fairly boring and simple mission a bit more entertaining.
"Gonna say I have to agree with you." Duncan would reply, resting the final report from his stack down in the pile reserved for the uneventful. "Does it make any mention of what techniques they used? Or did they go in with nothing more than their training in the shinobi arts of stealth?" The giant couldn't help but ponder if they utilized any of the various chakra based jutsus to improve upon their stealth. Those had a tendency to be tricky, and any Kumo shinobi utilizing them well would be an incredible asset to the village.
"Tis crazy indeed." He'd reply, making his way towards where the parlor was located. It wasn't particularly busy - or at least didn't seem to be - yet it had the look of a rather nice place to unwind, relax, and remove ones burdens of stress. The large man of course stood out like a sore thumb, being far larger than practically all of his surroundings and peers. This could be to their benefit though. "I'll keep watch out front, just posting up. Most people are gonna remember the huge man standing out front more than any others." Duncan, posting out front as offered, would ask a few of the civilians passing by that seemed like they lived in the area how busy this place was. A few people offered simple answers stating that they didn't really know, a few said that it seemed to have more traffic going through the back, and one person just gave an odd look, wondering what he was getting at.
"Oh, well you see I'm kind of an unusual customer. I just want to know if the staff inside are well practiced enough to provide a massage to someone built like myself." The man would immediately change his tone and demeanor, "Ah yes. I believe so. Why don't you come inside and we will show you what we can offer?" He would then beckon for the giant to enter, the man likely an owner or such.
Hopefully this distraction would provide Saturn with what he needed to collect some intel.

Re: E RANK MISSIONS?!?!
Sun Jun 26, 2022 5:00 pm
"Heh.. It says here he used shadow clone jutsu and made a run for it.." He replied as his voice tapered off, planting his thumb and two fingers on his forehead while he relived his own attempt on taking on one of the aerial delinquents. Why didn't I think of that... Saturn quietly groaned and muttered under his breath. During his own mission, he had used the signature technique of the Yamanaka clan Mind Body Switch Technique to possess the body of the thief. Immediately after, he was face to face with a menacing python that was silently stalking the scavenger. He knocked the stolen purse over from the nest with talons and as the reptile thrusted its fangs at him, he aborted the feathery vessel in the nick of time to ensure his own survival. In the end, he was forced to make a sacrifice to the slithering serpent.
As the two Kumon shinobi made their way to the local massage parlour in question, the Sun had already set. The blonde haired shinobi scanned the crumbled piece of paper in his fist to revise the instructions provided to them for the second mission. Without tipping off the owners... He groaned at that clause, as it would make their mission more tricky than he had hoped. He was soon on another mental spiral, overthinking every possible scenario and scheming how they would pull off this heist without being found out. Saturn nodded at Duncan as he offered to post up front, and he was slick when he wandered around the back alley.
Slipping his hand into his pocket, he unsheathed a metal flask and took a swig of the cheap rum that he carried with him, before sparking a joint to compliment his drink. Crouching next to the dumpster, Saturn would embody his best impression of a homeless man to avoid looking too conspicuous. As he had suspected, the parlor housed a backdoor from the alley. It was slightly open, but for now there seemed to be no one loitering about. He sighed and took another sip and a puff, lying in wait while Duncan went about asking questions about the parlor towards the front.
A few minutes passed and Saturn had just about finished his flask. The burnt tip of the first joint rested on top of one of the black garbage bags in the dumpster. A second joint was half way smoked when Saturn stubbed it and slipped what was left into his pouch. On the ground with his legs frayed and stretched out, he looked even more convincingly homeless at this point with his dirty cyan pants. Although he was shitfaced, his focus never wavered. As he watched, a medium sized Calico cat creaked the backdoor open and slipped out from inside the parlor before leaping onto the dumpster next to the shinobi, trying to forage a treat. "Psss.. Psss.. Come here lil kitty.."
Saturn tried to lure the feline towards him, and she gave in to his charming coos, letting the shinobi pat her first. Here we go again.. I'll try not to get you killed lil buddy.. Saturn promptly formed handseals in front of the cat as its paws curiously swiped at his hands. Tiger, Snake, Horse, and then a heart shaped handseal that he intuitively learned while trying to understand his epigenetic affinity for hiden techniques of the Yamanaka clan. Immediately after, the intoxicated shinobi fell over to the front and then the side, his lifeless body leaning against the wall of the parlor. His consciousness left his body in the form of a stream of energy and entered the mind of his target. And just like that, once again, Saturn had possessed yet another animal vessel.
From the wide green eyes of the Calico cat, Saturn bore witness to his own sleeping body. Damn, he looks messed up.. He? Wait, me.. Meow. Wait, what.. Saturn inherited the memories of his new host slowly, and then all at once. This particular cat was a street cat that was taken in by one of the owners of the parlor. She spends most of her time loitering in the back alley when she's not busy getting pats from the customers in the parlor. Sometimes, while she's grabbing a midnight snack on this very alley, three of the staff members randomly drag lifeless bodies into the parlor from the backdoor. He remained in a trance as he remembered his own possession of the feline, and began to sense her fear at the foreign presence that was now sharing her body with her. Saturn raised her paw and planted it on Saturn's face. I just need to borrow these paws for a short while, I paw-mise nothing is going to happen to you.
As Saturn was reassuring the feline, adjusting to her perception of the world and processing her memories, two figures emerged from the backdoor to find them. "Good job, Lucy! You found another one!" A coarse voice reached down to pat the Calico cat. "Check his pockets!" The second specimen, a woman, reached into Saturn's pockets and took out his flask and 300 ryo. "Fuck. He's broke as hell." "Hey! I left my wallet at home." Saturn tried to voice out from the vocal chord of the cat but he was not practiced enough to form words. Instead, a loud "Meeoow!" escaped his little mouth. "You're right, I'll just slip this back in his pocket. We'll make more from his kidneys anyway." She patted Lucy and slipped the shinobi's money back into the pocket of his hoodie. Her partner in crime grabbed Saturn's legs and looked around to make sure no one was loitering around before dragging his body into the parlor.
The cat followed them into the backroom, and as he entered, they could hear Duncan conversing with the receptionist towards the front door in the room behind yet another door. The two suspicious staff members who found his body laid him out on a massage table. Wasting no time, the woman drew a scalpel from her pocket. "Wait, we got another customer. Aren't we understaffed?" The cat sighed in relief as the man stopped her from extracting his organs. They didn't even check my pulse! "You're right. We can't mess up another one. Let's wait till we close shop."
Saturn licked his paw trying not to look conspicuous while the woman glared at the cat and squinted, having thought she heard a sigh, before rubbing her eyes and sparking the second half of Saturn's joint that she had stolen. That bitch! Saturn cursed and gritted his fangs before prowling to the door that would lead into the next room, the one where he could hear Duncan. With his heightened sense of smell, he smelled a sharp foul rotting smell coming from the closet as he passed it.
"You wanna go in, Lucy? Come with me. Who's a good girl.." The man patted the cat, treating it like a dog before swinging the door open slightly, just wide enough for himself and Saturn to slip into the next room to come face to face with Duncan and the receptionist. From his new dimensions, Duncan looked even larger than before. In order to complete the mission without tipping off the owners, they would have to retrieve whatever was in that closet in the backroom without being caught. That was Saturn's plan. If only I could pawsibly find a way to tell him... He thought to himself as he walked around Duncan in circles.

Duncan would speak with the folks inside, speaking his particular needs to the masseuse. They seem to listen intently, aiming to complete this tall task as quickly as possible. They seemed almost in too much a rush to get this all over with. An odd cat would circle the giant, making its presence clearly known. Unfortunately, he had no idea what his comrade was capable of and didn't realize that this cat was in fact his teammate.
The massage specialist would walk the man into a room in the back, the clear scents of decaying flesh mixing with the fancy perfumes that they attempted to use in order to mask it. He lived in Kumogakure his whole life... the stench of death and decay was something that he was intimately familiar with. He would scrunch his brow, knowing full well that the rumors about this place had to have been true. Cadavers were here, no doubt about that. Not much in the The owner would try try and shoo the cat away, to which one of the massage specialists would give him a cold, icy glare. The owner would immediately shut up, seemingly not wanting to upset his employees. Duncan wondered if the man even knew about the cadaver trafficking going on, but he felt it hard to believe anyone could be that oblivious to the things happening in their own business.
"Oh is this the bathroom?" Duncan would ask, turning the nob and starting to open the door to where the bodies were at. Before it opened all the way they would shout no all in unison, instead directing the giant to the facilities where he could relieve himself. Luckily, the door was left open enough for Saturn to wiggle through in his cat form. Maybe he could get back to his body, and maybe he could see first hand the corpses that were being harvested for organs.

Saturn, or rather Lucy, glanced at the short statured old owner and stuck its tiny little pink tongue out when the employees hissed at his attempt to shoo him away. As Duncan approached the door of the backroom and creaked it open, the cat sprinted to the foot of the door and then jumped up two feet in the air when everyone else around them yelled in unison. Right after, he squeezed right back into the room he came out of. The masseuse who was in the room panicked at the sight of the creaking door, and rushed over to prevent Duncan from entering. Outdoing herself, she carefully stepped out in front of the giant and spoke without missing a beat.
"This is the ladies' lavatory, actually." She chuckled, looking stressed as she slipped out of the crevice into the main room and shut the door behind her, leaving Saturn's body, the feline and the cadavers to their own devices. "The men's facilities are down the hall. Come with me sir, right this way." She tried to lead Duncan down the hall towards the bathrooms, but the two rooms there would have symbols indicating that the ladies' and men's bathrooms are both there. "Yoshihiro. Go get the room ready for our client." The owner instructed the male masseur, who nodded and disappeared hurriedly into a separate room behind the receptionist's desk.
In the backroom, Saturn's eyes rolled up into his skull and he gasped as he sat up on the massage table, releasing his possession of the cat to return to his human vessel. Lucy screeched and hissed loudly, curling her spine and staring at the blonde haired shinobi, baffled by what had just happened to her. However, there was no one around to heed to her calls for help, as the two masseurses were distracted and the owner did not care much for the cat. Saturn, who had inherited all of the cat's memories stared at the feline in disbelief at the horrendous crimes that he had witnessed within Lucy's memory.
"Get out..." Lucy hissed at Saturn, sizing him up.
"It's not just the cadavers.. You were there... You were an accomplice.." Saturn mumbled, and gripped the mattress tight in his fist, gritting his teeth.
"You don't know what it's like!" Lucy advanced towards the shinobi, holding her ground, visibly prepared to throw paws.
"I know you had it rough.. I'm sorry.. but..." Saturn appeared to calm down, looking down at the floor, with his hands in the pockets of his white hoodie. Once he had smelled the rotting flesh through Lucy's nose, the stench was even more noticeable now even with his own sense of smell. "I gotta pay the rent!" Saturn was making hand seals in his pocket, and it was too late when Lucy realized. She let out a mumbling whimper before falling over to the ground, paralyzed by his used of a certain Ninjutsu technique.
Saturn exhaled sharply and stood up on his feet, quickly making his way to the closet that had caught his attention. Holding his breath, he swung open its doors a little too quickly. Immediately, two upright cadavers fell over towards him. In his attempt to catch both of them, the shinobi stumbled backwards under their weight, barely cushioning his fall when the two bodies landed on top of him, landing him on the floor with the corpses.
He shrieked quietly and pushed the bodies off of himself, pinching his nose shut right after. "Sick..." He gagged before gathering himself again, getting up on one knee. Upon observing the right hand of the first body - a middle aged man with dark hair and wrinkled skin - he noticed that there was dirt in his fingernails. From his new angle low to the ground, he peered into the closet to find a shovel. Close to the corpse's hip, the dirty robe that was wrapped around its frame had a dark patch. Wincing, Saturn took a peek to find a blade pierced into his kidney. "Amateurs.." He groaned, covering the foul smelling gaping wound with the robe - although he was no expert, the body looked like a botched surgery even to him. The lack of defensive scars further added to the growing evidence of this being a case of grave robbers instead of murderers.
The second corpse similarly had dirt in his dark hair and fingernails. A white bandage was tightly wrapped around his eyes. "I know what happened to this one.." Saturn mumbled, pinching the hem of the blindfold to lift it up a little to take a peek, to confirm his suspicion. When he was in Lucy's mind, he saw a vision of a man of an identical appearance laying on the same massage table that he himself was placed on just a while ago. Upon peeling the blindfold, he would find two empty gaping holes in his skull, where his eyes once were. Saturn put the blindfold back over the cadaver's eye sockets and got up swiftly. Turning his attention back to the closet, he slid open the drawer and just as he suspected, he found a transparent glass jar. As he picked it up to inspect it, two dark brown eyes floating in a preservative vinegar medium stared right back at him through the glass. Looking back and forth between the glass jar and the immobilized feline, Saturn scratched his short stubbled dark blonde beard, crafting his plan.
Saturn's scheme was threefold. Firstly, he looted one of the eyes from the medium to submit as evidence. Reaching into the jar, he winced as he withdrew one of the eyeballs and then slipped it into a small cloth pouch. Second, he took the shovel from inside the closet and placed it in his stead on the massage table. He formed hand seals in quick succession and cast the Substitution Technique to disguise the tool in his image. Lastly, he decided to frame the cat for the fallen corpses and the missing organ. Holding the jar and the one remaining eye, he walked towards the door to the entrance from the back alley. As he passed a small side table, he noticed what was left of his half smoked joint, leaning on the side of a square glass ashtray. Leaning over, he would spark his smoke once again and take a couple puffs before putting it back where it was to avoid suspicion. Now standing at the doorway, he would let out a burdened sigh and toss the glass jar into the middle of the room, causing it to shatter loudly and its contents to spill. The one remaining eye rolled all the way to the twitching cat's paw.
Before anyone could come in to check on the source of the sound, the real Saturn would be long gone. His synthetic body double would be laying on the massage table appearing unconscious, the backdoor would be neatly shut just as it had been, and Lucy would be twitching on her back for some time like she's sick after eating something she shouldn't have.
Upon exiting the building Saturn would use Transformation Technique to take the physical appearance of the dark haired man with no eyes so as to not be recognized by chance. He changed the physical appearance of his clothes, now donning a black top hat and a dark button up shirt, with a leather belt, formal pants, and leather loafers. This version of the man in question still had both of his eyes, albeit they were now decidedly blue. He casually made his way back to the front of the building where he would swig from his flask while he waited for Duncan. Maybe I should go in and spook them out... He thought mischievously for a moment before changing his mind and walking away while they still had the upper hand, entrusting Duncan to get out in time on his own.
