Task: You have been wrongly accused of stealing a valuable item from a village nearby and are now being chased by a small shinobi force tasked with bringing you in for further questioning. It is your job to shake off your pursuers and avoid getting caught. How you escape doesn't matter as long as you showcase your skill with the Transformation and Clone techniques.

It should be noted that this mission cannot be used towards any rank-up besides the one mentioned in "Reward."

You know how you wake up someday and just feel like you should have went back to bed and skipped it? That was the feeling that Merlin had this morning and now that things had transpired as they did he was more sure he should have simply enjoyed the sunrise as he did everyday and taken the day off and left things he wanted to do till the following one, but ever the optimist he had gone out to one of the nearby villages and was keen to help out with some volunteer work that people needed help with. Usually this was a span of things like helping farmer’s with work with the animals, maybe helping clean up a place for some elderly people that couldn’t move about their homes anymore and didn’t have anyone to help them, sometimes it was to help the local children find a lost item or pet like a cat stuck in a tree or a dog that ran off a bit far and had gotten lost in the woods. Simple basic things that shouldn’t have been any issue to deal with but here he was on the run from some villagers that weren’t to happy with him and were beyond listening to reason.
 
Lets take it back to the beginning to get an idea of what happened.
 
Merlin had done his normal routine and had left the settlement to help out those who needed it in nearby settlements and towns, entering the settlement wasn’t a problem and he had was a known individual by most guards in this area. It started off as normal as possible as he did odd jobs around the area, he helped an old woman get across town to some family members for their family outing. Then he helped a little girl retrieve her teddy bear that had fallen into a deep hole that he didn’t ask to many questions about. The incident that brought him to the current point was an elderly man who needed help getting rid of some items he no longer wished to own and didn’t have the strength to move everything he had to the dumping grounds, So Merlin offered his youth and help and was just about done with his task when the old man thanked him for his help and gave him a basic wooden idol that was suppose to be some carving of some deity. Merling while not very religious saw the item as a gift of good fortune and took it with him.
 
It wasn’t till later when the guards were running by in a panic that he started to wonder what the issue was and upon stopping one of the many citizens it was explained to him that someone had stolen a very old and very important idol of the villages and they were looking for the culprit. Merlin took the idol out of his pack and upon seeing it the villager started screaming for the guards before he could explain himself, no matter how much he tried to explain himself no one seemed to listen to him so Merlin decided maybe it was best to go ahead and take off till things calmed down and he could actually explain what happened or at least that was what he hoped, and this is how he was on the run through the woods trying to throw off the scent of the tracking party, he had an idea to use the clone technique to make a fake that looked to be off in the distant and the transformation technique to turn himself into some object that they wouldn’t pay much attention too.
 
His chance to enact his plan came in the form of a clearing within the woods nothing massive but big enough that there was multiple ways he could have ran off too, making sure to quickly leave traces of him going in different directions he made sure to do the needed handsigns for the Clone technique making it seem like he was fleeing off into the distance and then just as quickly did the needed handsigns for the Clone Technique transforming himself into what looked like a rotting log laying on the ground among the other ones in the area. The tracking party showed up shortly later and upon seeing his “fleeing self” they quickly took off after him once they were far enough away he undid his transformation and circled back to the village waiting for things to have calmed down.
 
It took a few hours but it seemed that the search had been given up, Merlin snuck his way back to the old mans home and knocked on the door, when it was opened he produced the idol and handed it back to him. The old man was thankful and explained that he had tried to tell the people that it had been an honest mistake brought on to his own forgetfulness but they had been on edge of outsiders lately due to some past thefts and let their emotions run wild instead of taking a second to really think things through. Merlin was thankful that the issue had been resolved as the two of them went to the town hall and further explained what had happened. There were plenty of cries of apologies and asking for forgiveness as some of the villagers recognized who Merlin was and knew he was always there helping them with their daily odd jobs. Now that things had been resolved he was just glad he was able to use his training and techniques to get him out of some hot water and that this whole thing had been smoothed over. Now that he had had his fun for the day it was time to head back to Sakuragakure and destress himself. He was thinking he would enjoy some hot tea and honey, so that was what he planned to make on his return to his home.
 
Now it was time to enjoy the travel back though he hoped there wouldn’t be anymore issues.
