A Day at the Academy [OPEN]

A bright, early morning sun shone through the village as Tatsuo walked to the academy with his school bag slung over his shoulder. His trip to the weapons shop the day before had been insightful, and he'd spent hours that afternoon polishing his form. Now he was back for another day of lessons, and he idly wondered what they would entail. 'Ninjutsu.... chakra control.... survival exercises, physical conditioning, strategy.... maybe history?' He scratched his head a bit as he entered the building and found his classroom, taking a bench near the middle of the room and setting his bag down, pulling out his notebook and reviewing it silently while he waited for the rest of the class to arrive. Jutsu theory was the latest thing he'd written about, so he spent some time looking over the sketches and diagrams he'd penciled in, depicting a number of hand signs and the flow of chakra to various points of the body.

Theory was one thing, but Tatsuo was itching to practice. He had a basic grasp of jutsu so far - indeed his control of chakra was impressively developed for his age, but he wasn't satisfied until he achieved mastery. Putting the book down, he placed his hands together in the sign of the ram, letting the chakra surge through him until a group of identical Tatsuo clones appeared all around him, lounging lazily on the desks. "Hm," he sighed, and let the illusions disperse. He could do it, but he still felt it took him too long to build up his chakra. He'd have to practice more, later. For now, he starts drilling hand signs, switching between the twelve gestures as swiftly as he can while maintaining his focus and accuracy. If he ever hoped to master more advanced jutsu, he'd need to be able to weave signs without a second thought.

The classroom slowly started to fill up, and when most of the students had taken their seats, the instructor appeared at the podium in the front. He was a middle-aged chuunin with a weathered face, an easy smile and a bit of a limp. Tatsuo often wondered what he did before he was a teacher.

"Good morning!" he called out cheerfully to the room. "I hope each of you has had a chance to peruse the weapons shop? Well, today is practical application! First things first, while it's still bright and early, let's all assemble out in the training field for some warm up exercises. It's time to get our blood pumping and our bodies limber! Starting from the first row, go ahead and line up at the door."

Tatsuo sat up eagerly, watching the front rows begin to line up. He was happy to get some more physical training in today - it had been a little while since he'd pushed himself. Standing up when it was his turn, he joined his classmates at the door before his teacher opened it and led them all out into the yard.

"Right everyone, stretches!" he called out once they were in the open, and the class rep moved to the front of the group and started leading them in various arm and leg stretches. Tatsuo followed along, lifting his arms over his head and reaching down to touch his toes, making his muscles nice and limber. Soon enough, he heard the instructor call a halt, getting their attention once more. "Very good, now! All of you take a place on the track and start running! Focus on your breathing, and keeping a steady pace. Keep going until I tell you to stop!"

Following the other students, Tatsuo set off at a jog around the wide track, gradually increasing his pace until he was at a sustainable speed, matching his breath carefully in time with his steps. Glancing at some of the others, he subconsciously tries to move a bit faster than them. In a contest of speed, he wouldn't lose - but he had to make sure his endurance would last. He just had to push. His heart was beating faster, now. He could feel his body heating up and he pushed his speed further, taking a substantial lead of the group, his dark eyes focused straight ahead as he maintained his pace. He was eager to see how long he could keep it up. Hopefully the instructor didn't call it off too soon.

As Nokino arrived late to the school running, she saw the class was already outside training. She was supposed to help the instructor as a trainee teacher, but was slowed with a tea shop robbery on her way here. Looking a bit more rough than usually, her hair a bit ruffed from her usual well groomed and styled hairstyle, and her outfits with a bit of dust on it, a proof of the tumble she just had before. Arriving in a rush, running towards the training field, she reached the teacher who looked suprised since she was late.
"Very sorry sir! I was slowed by a robbery and couldnt pass without doing anything. I'll go and run with the kids, make 'em do pushups!" Said Nokino with her breath loudly exhaling, active by her running and previous fighting. 

As she arrived towards the young kids running, she stood in front of them, both her hands sitting on her hips with her purple stare intensely gazing at the students. Her look was so intense that all the kids stopped, waiting before her. As soon as most of them was stopping and had their attention at her, she would order them the next move of the training. 
"Alrighty you little ones! Im intern trainer Nokino, but y'all will just reffer to me as their worst nightmare, and i'll drill you into the most fit soon-to-be shinobi generation of the history of Konoha, 'aight? First, all of you do two hundreds pushups, asap! ... lets go! .... watch your form kiddo!.... keep at it...[wait for the pushups to be done]... ALRIGHT, STOP AND GET UP NOW! Now you all do as I do. The lesson here is to get trough the pain and still push, as most of the time in combat your arms will be tired and you will still need to weaves handsigns as fast as you can!" Said in militaristic and full of autority voice tone Nokino, yelling and having a serious as steel look into her face. As she gave instructions to the students to get up, she kickly weaved the sign of the Ram, creating 3 clones of herself.

Tatsuo was focused on keeping lead of the group, but his pace faltered when an older girl suddenly stepped out onto the track, blocking the path. He slowed to a stop, eyeing her inquisitively. Who was she, and why was she interrupting training? The rest of the students in class stopped too, as soon as they caught up, and it soon became apparent what she was doing there.

The girl began to speak, and Tatsuo's eyebrow raised skeptically when she referred to herself as their 'worst nightmare'. He's had nightmares, and they didn't look anything like this girl. But, from the sounds of it she was leading the next portion of their training, so when she ordered them all to drop into push-up position, Tatsuo complied obediently, laying on the ground and pushing his hands into the dirt, counting off as he pressed up with the rest of the class.

The first fifty were easy. He barely felt them at all, in fact any sweat that was on his brow got there way before this girl did. By the time the second fifty were finished, he was starting to feel the heat spreading through his shoulders, and he grit his teeth slightly, focusing on his breathing to keep up his pace. He did his best to focus on his form and not let himself get sloppy. At 150, his arms were properly aching, and he felt himself starting to slow. Sweat dripped off his brow and into the dirt, and he hissed through his teeth, pushing through the pain to pound out the last fifty.

Finally finished, Tatsuo sits up, panting softly and wiping his brow. He wouldn't get a rest though, as the girl was already getting them up and ready to cast jutsu. His arms and legs were both aching by this point from running and pushups, but he pushes himself to his feet regardless, stubbornly slamming his hands together in the sign of the ram and letting his chakra surge, three clones appearing around him, all panting similarly. It was strange - even though he could feel the fatigue in his body, his chakra had activated in no time at all. He remembered reading about how chakra was formed by a mixture of physical and spiritual energy - how difficult training could amplify your chakra levels. Now he could feel what it meant. Tatsuo's lips twitch in a small smile as he chuckles, resting his hands up behind his head and catching his breath, his clones mimicking him. "I feel good, miss!"

As the kids formed a row before her, she took particular attention of an Uchiha, who had a cute little smug face, with fair skin, and the classic edged uchiha black hair. Doing the pushups with determination, he seemed to be more strong and have more willpower than the others from the class, wich none impressed Nokino. But this kid, he had a lot inside ! As Nokino smile at his resolve and efforts, she could also see he was getting exhausted. Nonetheless, after the two hundreds pushup she asked of the students, she saw most of them exhausted, but the Uchiha was still in fighting shape and spirit.

As soon as he finished, he sat down, and Nokino looked at him with furious eyes, making him know he needed to get up as fast as possible. He then listened and proceeded to create 3 clones like Nokino did ''Impressive! Keep at it kids, lets go!'' said in a quick reply to their efforts Nokino. As the young Uchiha said he felt good, Nokino tought she didnt pushed them enough. She gestured to the group to follow her, and she ran with her arms behind her towards a large cement pillar in a wall shape, located in the middle of the field of the training grounds. ''Alright! Now its time to practice you chakra control students! You gotta focus your chakra towards your feets, and run all the way up this big thing, 'aight ? Now lets do at least 10 ups and downs, and you better run doing so!'' shouted the intern to the kids.

Little did they knew, Nokino too would run up the surface, and try to knock them down, making the challenge more difficult. After sprinting on the surface and knocking 3 of the most weak students, she aimed for the little Uchiha kid, running up the wall towards him to test his reflexes and resolve. As she caught up to him, she drove her fist toward his legs, both of her hands trying to aim for the respective ankles, in the hope he either dodge it and find his balance to land and continue climbing, or fall and master his landing to not get hurt.

Tatsuo wasn't sure how long this fast-paced training would continue, but he had to admit he was enjoying it. He could feel himself being pushed, and he knew if he kept it up, he would definitely come out stronger for it. Dispelling the clones, he runs off after his trainer, looking up at the large concrete wall. He knew there were some of his classmates who hadn't even mastered wall-walking yet - thankfully he wasn't one of them. Concentrating his chakra in his feet, the young boy takes off at a sprint and starts running right up the wall, sticking steadfast to the vertical surface.

He managed to go up and down a couple of times, when he noticed that this girl was on the warpath, knocking kids down left and right. Well, she wasn't gonna get him. As she lunged at him, he quickly launched into a backflip, trying to grab around her torso as he passed overhead and secure himself onto her back. If he was able to knock her off balance, he was confident that he could make a decent recovery. If he failed to grab on, well, he'd just have to try and stick his landing - but if he just ended up being her backpack, he might still get a free ride for a couple of laps!

As the kids made their way upwards the tower, Nokino kept making some of them fall and knocked them out into the dirt, making them learn the hard way. The Uchiha kid she spotted earlier tho, was getting quite good at running on surface and keeping his cool, also dodging the pushes of the bulky woman trainer who was teaching them in this instance. In one particular run, he came right in front of her, and as she lunged toward him with a left hook kick, he jumped backwards into a backflip. Impressive! Either he was dodging, attacking back to make her fall, or trying to actually land on her to jump higher, Nokino was impressed nonetheless. As he landed on her, she held her ground like he just landed on an iron pole rooted deep and solidly into the ground. Hanging from her flak vest like a backpack, the Uchiha kid almost made her loose balance, not by the strength and power of his move, but mainly by the absolutely suprising effect he had on the kunoichi, who really didnt expect that kind of move! Giggling a bit at the save of this young one, Nokino got her muscular arm towards her back, grabbing the small student by the edge of the collar of his Uchiha traditionnal garb, and in a swift and strong movement, while yelling ''Hayyyaa!'', she threw upwards the young kid about 5 metters in the air above her. As the kid flew, she did a reverse pinwheel while still being attached to the surface by her magnificient chakra control, placing herself in a way to still continue to test and be a challenge for the other kids, but also being out of the falling trajectory of the Uchiha kid, should he not recover from this gesture. Inside of herself, she would hope for this kid to be tallented, and to use the throw as a boost to get higher than the last time he climbed, as she had a particular interest and liking of promissing and talentfull students. 

As the students continued a few more minutes, Nokino finally droped down by doing a flip and landing in the dust of the runway, making a large puff, and said ''ALLRRRRIIGHTY KIDS! STOP ALL ACTIVITY AND FORM A LINE IN FRONT OF ME!!!''

As the students formed a tightly place line in front of her, Nokino looked at them all with her serious gaze. '' 'Aight you kiddos are doing a good job, so there will only be one exercise left! Place yourselves in teams of two. FAST! Lets go, lets go! NOW. You will all start to fight with taijutsu only, so only physical hits, and no weapons. I'll be checking your forms and way of fighting. Remember, a shinobi must not hesitate nor have pitty in combat, as every second counts and every move is either a garantee of death for your fellow ninjas, or a successfull move securing their lives and yours too, as well as the success of the mission at hand. Ready ? FIGHT!'' said Nokino with a slow voice, puting the emphasis on her words so that students learn the way of the ninja. As she walked around the fighting kids, hands in her pockets, she commented on the fights. ''Not like that!... Better. Alright, now raise your foot higher... SEE ? now you can properly kick him in the neck, hehe.... WHAT IN THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING WORM? This aint how you are supposed to fight, so GET, AT, IT!... Am I suposed to be impressed?.... Oh, nice form Tatsuo, keep it like that...'' said the trainer. After a while, most students where knocked out of their energy, bruised mentaly from the hard training putting and strand on their morale, bruised physically from the sheer efforts they did and the hits they took while sparing, but mainly bruised in their chakra reserves, feeling empty and exhausted. Most of them were clearly not ready yet to graduate, but Tatsuo was different. He was already learning techniques outside of the school mandatory and minimum jutsu required for his passing towards the rank of genin. Also, he was able to do the basics, like clones, and surface walking with such talent that Nokino asked herself what he was still doing in a class of the academy, without his hidden leaf ninja headband. As the students rested, Nokino got a bit away from the kids, and talked to the teacher of their class, the one responsible for their group at the academy. ''Hey sir. Thanks again for letting me straigthen up those kids. They need a lot of training, and a rigorous one at that. I wanted to recommend personnaly this Tatsuo Uchiha kid. You probably noticed it yourself, but he clearly is above the class in terms of jutsu progress and learning. He deserve his headband.'' Said the kunoichi clad in her professionnal garbs, and her classic red sleeves with orange flames pattern. ''I'll go back to the class, and I will give you a letter of recommend for him as well as my repport of the training session and the learning and progress of the kids, 'aight? lemme get back to them now, they worked enough for today.''

''You students did a good job! Some clearly more than others, so if you recognize yourself as the lacking one, you better start picking up the pace, as there is no place in the Konoha ninja corps for hesitation and lazyness! NOW! all of you salute and go back to your teacher for the continuation of theoric classes, 'aight? See ya kiddos.'' said in an autoritarian voice Nokino, back to her natural habitat of being a drill trainer and gym teacher like she was before enrolling officially as a ninja of the hidden leaf.

As she started to walk away from the group who was getting back inside to continue their school day, she turned around and looked at the class one last time, in case a student would want to talk to her or ask for training, giving them an opportunity to step forward and prove their resolve to become the greatest ninja and embrace their potential.

Tatsuo had succeeded in latching onto the woman's back, and he held on tightly, trying to disrupt her balance. Alas, he was but a small fry, and the adult had the advantage here. A strong hand gripped the collar of his shirt, and before he knew it he was being launched up even further into the air! The boy gasped in surprise - he knew he only had a second to make a recovery, or he'd be falling all the way down. Quickly channeling his chakra into his feet and palms, he reached out and touched the wall, slowing his descent just enough to regain his footing and continue running up the side.

It seemed at least, that the trainer had moved on to other students, so Tatsuo was able to continue his laps up and down the wall in relative peace until she called them down, and he leapt off the wall and landed down with the others, panting slightly from the effort and concentration. But the training wasn't over. Next was taijutsu practice, and when instructed, Tatsuo met the eyes of one of his classmates, a wild looking Inuzuka kid with a puppy at his feet. The kid grinned, as if he was eager to challenge to Uchiha, so Tatsuo smirked and nodded, and the two paired up in an open section of field.

The two stood about five meters apart, each holding up the seal of confrontation, as they'd been taught to do at the start of a match. At the signal, the Inuzuka launched himself at Tatsuo with surprising speed, the Uchiha having just enough time to sidestep and land a spinning back fist behind the kid's head. The Inuzuka was stunned momentarily, but just then Tatsuo felt a pain in his ankle, and looked down to see the pup gnawing on his boot. 'Tsk,' he hissed as he kicked the dog away, earning a growl of rage from his sparring partner, who swiped at him with hands that looked like claws. Tatsuo's eyes sharpened, and he swiftly took a step back, keeping the Inuzuka's movements within the range of his vision. When he saw an opening, he crouched low, kicking his leg upward sharply and slamming Inuzuka under his chin, making him stagger backwards and fall onto his backside. That was when he heard the word of praise from the female trainer, and he smiled slightly, moving toward his partner and reaching a hand down. "... Are you okay?"

The Inuzuka grumbled slightly, accepting the hand and pulling himself up. "... Yeah. Fine." He seemed disgruntled at the loss, but extended his two fingers, accepting the seal of reconciliation from Tatsuo. The trainer had returned then, and told them that physical training was finished for the day, something that Tatsuo was almost glad for. He may have been in better shape than most of his classmates, but he was still starting to get pretty tired. Still... that wasn't such a bad thing. Maybe if he trained like that more often, he would get stronger that much faster. As the students returned inside, he quickly ran over to the girl before she left, stopping by the fence and watching her curiously.

"Um... thank you for lesson," he says respectfully, bowing his head a bit. "Do you... Do you think you could help me again, sometime? The academy classes, they don't push me like that all the time... I feel like if I'm able to train harder, I'll get stronger. Anyway.. I'd appreciate it. If you're not too busy." Waving, he jogged back over to rejoin his class, going back inside for the end of his lessons, feeling overall like the day had not been a waste of time.
