Once per thread if affected by a genjutsu or another mind-alternating effect via inhalation, or some other sense, if the power of the technique is less than the mask, the user, if physically able to, can take it off to remove the effect on them. When removed this way the mask cannot be reequipped that thread as it leaves it's choker on the user and deflates where it will have to be reattached at a later time.
