Contemplating the future, birth of Seikaiju!

Birth of Seikaiju 世界樹 - The World Tree
Yukio walked into the Advanced Training Facility, deep in thought. It might sound ridiculous, to ask a sixteen year old to plan out the rest of his life, but this is what the young man found himself doing. Who was Yukio? What did he want to do with his life? What kind of shinobi did he aspire to be. He looked toward the Hokage Monument, resplendent in the evening son. There stood the face of Aokidanza-sama, struck in fierce relief, as if to defy any and all who would dare to harm the Village Hidden in the Leaves. For a moment, Yukio felt utter despair as he gazed upon the face of a man who, at least in his impressionable mind, was the definition of strength and power. He would never climb the heights of that mountain or accomplish the feats the Hokage and Deputy Kage had managed.
Shaking his head to free himself from these melancholy thoughts, Yukio moved deeper into the training facility towards a training area designated for all to use. It appeared to be empty at the moment, which made sense; few would come in the evening like this to accomplish any training. Once within the training yard proper, which was really little more than a large circular patch of dirt clear of debris or major obstacles with a few sparse trees and bushes on the outer edge, Yukio made to sit beneath the shade of a taller oak tree near the edge of the yard. Underneath the shade of this tree, Yukio sat and began to meditate. Or as much of an approximation of meditating as a confused and hormonal teenage boy could manage without dedicated guidance. Which is to say, he sat and fidgeted and tried to think clearly about at least one thing.
’The gulf of power between us is just too great and I, as much as I love our Hokage, I want to be my own ninja. How can I do that if I am constantly scrabbling after the coattails of Aokidanza-sama? Would he even want me to do that? Or would he take pride in my ability to get strong in my own way, forging my own path up the mountain top?’ Yukio sighed as he opened his eyes again. He pulled out a small manuscript scroll from his pocket that his father had given him. He came to his dad with his troubles early today in one of the rare moments his father was free. After hearing what he had to say, his father took him into his study and then activated a hidden Fuinjutsu seal, much to Yukio’s surprise. This seal revealed a section of wall that had been cut away to make room for a safe, which then took a second Fuinjutsu seal to unlock. He pulled a small scroll from within the safe and, after resealing both the safe and the wall, turned to Yukio.
”I once asked myself these same questions, my beloved son. Just as my father asked them before and his father before him. We are Senju! A proud and mighty clan that existed before the Calamity, before even the shinobi villages themselves were formed! And within us lay a power that is as vast as it is formidable. You are not ready to begin the journey towards this power, but this scroll will give you some small taste of what it is your clan is truly known for.”
Yukio sighed once more as he hefted the scroll in his hands. Finally, he opened it and began to read. Within told the story of two brothers Hashirama and Tobirama. Together they were formidable shinobi, Tobirama mastering Earth and Water affinities to such degrees that he could control the water in the very air around him and even began experimenting with techniques that could manipulate space and time! The young man scoffed aloud at this. It was one thing to be an unparalleled master of the basic elements, but manipulating space and time? Sometimes you had to take these pre-Calamity accounts with a grain of salt. As Yukio read on about the other brother, Hashirama, his eyes began to widen. Hashirama, as many know, was a user of the advanced element Mokuton, the Wood Release. By combining his clan’s natural affinity for Earth and Water, Hashirama was able to create and utilize the Wood Release and was perhaps the greatest Mokuton user the world had ever seen. It was even said that Hashirama could use his Wood Release jutsu to sedate and capture the Bijuu, legendary monsters of immense power and destructive might! And here again was the grain of salt needed for this story. Yukio looked around his surroundings. He certainly hadn’t seen any legendary monsters of immense power and destructive might, and if they were out there, he was certain Aokidanza-sama would have one on a leash as a cute pet to entertain the village. Yukio continued to read, learning how the two brothers, together with the leader of the Uchiha clan (here the boy sneered, Uchiha always thought they were so great, although some in the academy weren’t that bad) they formed the Village Hidden in the Leaves and brought the elemental nations out of the warring state’s era and into the era of the Shinobi. And how the vast majority of Hashirama and Tobirama’s techniques have been lost to the ages, never to be recovered, unless there might again be a great Mokuton user in the Senju clan.
The teenager rolled the scroll back up, sealed it again, and placed it back into the pouch that was carrying it. ’Wood release, huh? Is this what I should do? Explore the depths of my clan and its elusive Kekkai Genkai?’ Yukio lifted his hand and gathered chakra, shifting it to water nature in his palm and filling his hand with a small amount of water, before letting it run through his fingers and into the soil below, becoming stained with the moisture. He did not yet have training with Dotun, the Earth Release, although he was certain he could master it as well and as easily as he had Water Release. His parents assured him that after he graduated and became a Genin they would begin his instruction into the second element immediately. Should he pursue Mokuton once he can and delve into the secrets it must contain? After all, if even half of the things that scroll claimed were true, Yukio may have a power lying dormant within him that the world hadn’t seen in hundreds of years! He felt a fire within his chest, a yearning to re-discover that which was lost to the annals of time and to reforge his clan to the heights it once stood. Yukio rose from his seated position and turned toward the Hokage Monument as the sun dipped lower and lower into the sky. ”Aokidanza-sama, I will make you proud in my own way. I will forge a new path up the mountain of power and once at the top I will stand next to you as an equal!” Yukio nodded severely as he finished his declaration and left the training ground. He would return tomorrow fresh and ready to train even harder!

Yukio returned to the training yard a few days later, the glint from his Konohagakure headband shining in the sun. He couldn’t stop himself from reaching up and touching it every so often, just to confirm it was still there. He entered the training yard, which once again held no one, but did have some signs of use, including a chipped and worn kunai, discarded. After disposing of the weapon, Yukio sat himself underneath the tree where he previously contemplated his life’s plan. After such a stirring revelation, with a few days to think about it, the young Senju has decided against dedicating himself solely to his Senju heritage. It feels like a betrayal, but he does not want to limit himself in that way. Oh, he certainly plans on utilizing his Wood Release to the fullest (as soon as he obtained it, that is), but he was worried about limiting himself in some way. In truth, there was too much he simply didn’t know. So much history was lost to the calamity, who knows what ancient and powerful techniques and bloodlines could be out there, waiting to be discovered? This was one of the reasons why he purchased a specific book after he graduated. As a Genin, he had larger access to information, tools, and weaponry now. This book, titled “A Study of Kekkai Genkai and their Connection to DNA” was written by a man named Denkiteki, and Yukio hoped it would shed some light on the mysterious world of Kekkai Genkai.
Beneath the shade of the massive Senju Oak, Yukio began reading his book. It was fairly entry level, giving a broad description of what Kekkai Genkai’s were, and a thesis as to why they were so prominently linked to DNA. It was elucidating, if not groundbreaking or revolutionary. Yukio didn’t expect for S-class secrets of clans to be revealed in a book he could buy off the bookshelf fresh out of the Academy, although one could hope. Still, it was informative and gave him a good foundation to continue his own research. It even mentioned the possibility of particular Kekkai Genkai only being formed when two different DNAs were combined, although it had no evidence of what kind of Bloodline this merging would produce, only that any such bloodline would be extremely powerful. Yukio finished reading the title and stowed the book away, ruminating on all that he had learned. A small part of him wondered if any other DNA might combine with the Senju bloodline? He shook his head, clearing it. That was ridiculous. The Senju were a prominent clan even still today in Konoha. If a new bloodline existed by combining another bloodline with the Senju, surely he would have heard about it by now?
All this thinking of bloodlines made Yukio focus back on his own – particularly training it. He had begun lessons with his parents on his Earth Release and felt that he was close to getting it down. Stepping out into the center of the training yard on the compacted dirt, he took a kneeling position and paused. He slowed his breathing and felt his chakra system circulating through him. His thoughts almost immediately fell to water, thinking of his chakra system as a series of pipes with water flowing through them. Inhaling and exhaling, Yukio closed his eyes and reached out with a hand, grasping some of the loose dirt that was near him. He held it in his hands with them rested on his lap and contemplated the substance. Earth was not the opposite of Water. It was complimentary to it. Water was the everflowing, adaptable and changeable. It moved as it needed to, filling space and containers as it wanted. Earth was surety – it was dependable and strong, slow to move, providing a firm foundation for all who needed it. As Yukio contemplated the nature of these two elements, he pictured them within himself, moving together, different, yet in harmony with one another. The Earth chakra was a strong core, with the Water flowing and moving through it as necessary.
Yukio felt as his chakra stretched and then snapped back, and he knew immediately that he could handle Earth Release well enough to attempt some simple techniques. He stood and formed a few hand seals, grinning with pride as a stone pillar rose out of the dirt in front of him. He began to manipulate the earth around him, forming walls, creating rocks to shoot at an enemy, or spears to pierce from underneath the ground they stood on. He practiced this way for two hours, just learning how it felt to move the earth, to feel it respond to his will and chakra The Earth certainly felt different from his water natured chakra, but it felt almost like an extension of himself just as much as water did. Satisfied, he took a brief break to eat some lunch and re-hydrate before returning to his seated, meditative position.
Now came the part Yukio was unsure of. How did you take both of these elements and combine them into the Wood Release? It seemed simple enough. If you took a seed and planted it in soil, after watering it, it would germinate and then grow. But how did you make a chakra system do this? The young Senju reached within himself, attempting to grasp both Water natured chakra and Earth natured chakra and simply smash them together. After a few brief minutes struggling with this, it was obvious this was not the correct way to go about things. Then, Yukio attempted to bring both Earth and Water natured chakra together in his hand, in a similar attempt to what he had been doing earlier. This too, was met with failure.
Seeing that the sun was beginning to dip low towards the horizon now, Yukio stood and stretched, earning several satisfying pops from his joints and spine. Truthfully, he hadn’t expected mastery to come immediately. Dusting himself off, he set down the road toward home, content with his progress and eager to return tomorrow for more practice.

Re: Contemplating the future, birth of Seikaiju!

Yukio once more returned to what he was fast considering “his” training ground. It was early enough in the morning there was still dew on the grass surrounding the training area. The morning was relatively quiet, only a few birds moving throughout the area. All in all, it was a great day to attempt to learn a new chakra nature. Yukio drew close to a sakura tree on the edge of the yard and sat facing it. He was unsuccessful in his previous attempts of utilizing Wood release, so today he was going to attempt to understand what wood actually was, specifically a tree. At home, Yukio had read several books on horticulture and arboriculture – the art of gardening and the study of trees and other woody perennial plants, specifically. Now, armed with new knowledge, he was prepared to try again.
Yukio sat beneath the ancient sakura tree, its gnarled branches reaching for the heavens. He had always been drawn to this spot in the training ground, a place where he could escape the hustle and bustle of the shinobi world and immerse himself in the wonders of nature. The sakura tree was like an old friend, its presence a constant in his life. As he gazed up at the tree's delicate pink blossoms, he couldn't help but contemplate the tree's life cycle and his own. The trunk of the sakura tree stood strong and proud, its bark weathered by countless seasons. Yukio traced the rough texture of the bark with his fingers, feeling the wisdom of the tree beneath his touch. He marveled at the strength it must have taken for this tree to withstand the winds and storms that had raged through the centuries. As he looked higher, he noticed the delicate branches that reached out in every direction, like arms embracing the sky. Each branch was covered in a profusion of leaves, providing shade and shelter for the creatures of the area. Yukio couldn't help but think of the way these branches mirrored the connections in his own life, the people he had known and loved, and the experiences that had shaped him. But it was the blossoms that truly captured his attention. They adorned the tree like delicate jewels, their pale pink petals a stark contrast to the rough bark and green leaves. Yukio thought of the transient beauty of the sakura blossoms, how they would bloom for only a short time each year before falling to the ground, a reminder of the fleeting nature of life itself.
Yukio closed his eyes and imagined the sakura tree in all its stages. He saw the tree as a seed, planted in the ground by some long-forgotten hand. He saw it as a sapling, reaching for the sun with all the determination of youth. He saw it as the mature tree it was now, providing shade and beauty to all who visited the forest. As he opened his eyes, Yukio felt a profound sense of connection with the sakura tree. He realized that, like the tree, he too was a part of the cycle of life. He had been a child, full of promise and potential. He had grown into an adult, facing the challenges and joys that life had to offer. And one day, he would also be like the sakura blossoms, returning to the earth and becoming a part of something greater. With a smile on his face, Yukio stood up and bowed to the sakura tree, a gesture of respect for the wisdom and beauty it had shared with him. He felt a deep sense of peace and gratitude, knowing that he was not separate from the natural world, but an integral part of it. As he walked away from the tree, he carried with him a renewed appreciation for the beauty and impermanence of life, and a sense of oneness with the world around him.
As Yukio continued his contemplative walk through the forest, he couldn't help but feel a deep connection to the sakura tree and the natural world. He had been studying the ancient art of chakra control and meditation for years, and today, he decided to put his newfound knowledge to a profound test. Yukio found a secluded spot, away from the prying eyes of others, and sat down, crossing his legs and closing his eyes. With a deep breath, he focused his thoughts and channeled his chakra, the inner energy that flowed within him. He could feel it, a warm, pulsating energy centered around his solar plexus. With immense concentration, Yukio directed this chakra down into the earth beneath him. He imagined the sakura tree in all its intricate detail – the sturdy trunk, the branching limbs, and the delicate blossoms. As he breathed deeply and released his chakra, he visualized this energy transforming into a force of nature, a manifestation of his deepest connection to the sakura tree he loved so much. The energy extended into the soil, its roots taking shape, intertwining with the roots of the ancient sakura tree that stood nearby. Yukio envisioned his chakra energy growing upward, forming a slender, strong trunk, mirroring the tree he admired. The branches sprouted outwards, guided by the energy of his chakra, just as if they were responding to the same natural forces that shaped the original tree. Slowly but surely, leaves began to emerge, reflecting the lush green foliage that adorned the sakura tree. And as he continued to focus, the blossoms, pale and delicate, appeared on his newly created tree. They were a mirror image of the ones above, and they swayed gently in an imagined breeze.
For hours, Yukio remained in deep meditation, channeling his chakra into his creation, pouring his love and respect for the sakura tree into it. When he finally opened his eyes, he saw before him a tree, vibrant and beautiful, nearly identical to the ancient sakura tree that had inspired him.
With a sense of profound satisfaction, Yukio stood up and marveled at what he had accomplished. He had used his inner energy, his chakra, to create a living work of art that mirrored the beauty and vitality of the natural world. It was as if he had forged a connection, not just with the sakura tree but with the very essence of life itself.
Yukio realized that the boundary between the natural world and his inner self was not as solid as he once believed. He had harnessed the power of his own chakra to create something magnificent, and in doing so, he had strengthened his bond with the world around him. He knew that he would continue to nurture his connection to nature, and the sakura tree he had created would stand as a symbol of that connection, a living testament to the beauty and wonder of the world. Today, he had finally unlocked his Mokuton heritage.
Over the following weeks, Yukio's connection to nature and his mastery of his chakra deepened. He spent hours in meditation and training, honing his control over the inner energy that flowed within him. The sakura tree he had created was thriving, a testament to the strength of his connection to the natural world. But Yukio had an even grander vision in mind. He had always been fascinated by the legends of ancient wood constructs, creatures of myth and legend brought to life through the power of chakra. Now, he felt ready to attempt something truly remarkable - the creation of a Wood Dragon, a majestic creature capable of soaring through the skies. Yukio began his ambitious project on a clear and starry night. He found a secluded meadow in the forest, away from the prying eyes of the world. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and focused his chakra like never before. He extended his inner energy deep into the earth, feeling the pulse of the natural world around him. With a great burst of concentration, Yukio willed the earth to yield its resources. Giant tree roots, solid and ancient, emerged from the ground. These roots formed the dragon's massive body, a sturdy and flexible frame that was both strong and light. It was 20 meters long, with a width of 5 meters. Yukio's chakra flowed through these roots, animating them, bringing them to life.
The dragon's body was covered in dense layers of bark, forming a formidable armor. It was a living wood construct, the very essence of the forest given form. Yukio marveled at the texture of the bark, the way it was both solid and supple, able to withstand the rigors of flight and yet move with a fluid grace.
As the dragon's body took shape, Yukio focused on its head, willing it to form from the very heart of the tree. The dragon's eyes, made from gleaming pieces of amber, glowed with an inner light, and its mouth opened with a powerful presence. He could feel the dragon's consciousness, an extension of his own, a guardian of the natural world. With a final burst of energy, Yukio breathed life into his creation. The Wood Dragon stretched and flexed, and it rose from the ground, hovering above him. It was a living, breathing testament to his connection with nature, a guardian of the forest, and a symbol of the power of chakra.
As the Wood Dragon soared through the night sky, Yukio felt a profound sense of fulfillment. He had not only connected with the natural world but had harnessed the very essence of life itself to create something truly fantastic. With the Wood Dragon by his side, he knew that he would continue to protect and nurture the world that had given him so much.

Zainketsu entered the training field right as the sun was creeping up over the horizon. Its golden beams cut through the branches of the surrounding forest and illuminated the field. His undersized body was still sore from the previous days work. His hands were wrapped in white bandages that hid the rough calluses he had gained in his previous training. The black hair boy was on a mision to get some work in today. Soon he would be competing in the upcoming exams and to be honest he felt totally unprepared. The young ten year old had always been ahead of the other kids his age but this was not the academy anymore. He would be competing against much more experienced and senior shinobi. He would be lying to himself if he said he was not worried about the whole ordeal. There was no point in stressing about it though. What would be would be, the only thing for him to do was to train and to prepare himself the best that he could.
Alright where should i start? I should have invited Tatsuo to help me out, Its hard to practice genjutsu without a live body to test things out on. Guess it cant be helped now. I guess i could practice some more of my ninjutsu. I still haven't mastered THAT jutsu yet. Its harder then i thought it would be. I guess that's why its an A rank technique
The small statured Uchiha spoke casually to himself as he brushed his long flowing black hair out of his face. His eyes were a beautiful brilliant crimson that held three tomoe that orbited his pupil. It was his clans infamous doujutsu, the sharingan. The young lad had been practicing trying to keep it active at all times for a while now. With each passing day he felt the strain and energy consumption lessen to the point that the burden was almost non existent. It was getting to the point that it almost felt natural to maintain his sharingan for such long period of times. When he deactivated it he felt like he was vision impaired and someone took his glasses away from him. Going back to such cruddy normal vision now gave him an instant headache. He was hoping to get to the point that he could even sleep with it active though he was not sure how to go bout training such a feat.
Nothing to it but to do it i guess. Lets get this show on the road!
The young Uchiha began warming up with a simple set of stretches. He began alternating between touching his toes and loosening up his shoulders. He was very flexible despite not being very strong or fast. He whistled to himself slightly as he loosened up. He noticed and heard footsteps appear out of nowhere and it was clear that somebody else had arrived at the training grounds to get some work in. He wasn't surprised in the least. This was one of the most popular places in all the village to train. He tried to pay it no mind and continue exercising though his brain could not totally disregard the arrival. Curiously he found himself glancing over to see who it was that was joining him on the glorious day. Maybe they would be willing to help him get some practice in. Lord knows he needed all the help that he could get.

Yukio returned to the training ground, focusing Earth natured chakra through his body. That was his goal today, now that he had finally unlocked his Mokuton and was able to use the Wood Release. Earth techniques were powerful tools, able to reshape the battlefield and control where and how your opponents were able to traverse it. As a ninjutsu specialist, being able to stop your opponents from reaching you was very important. He began running through the list of earth jutsu he wanted to learn, starting with the well-known Swamp of the Underworld technique. This jutsu turned the earth around you into a swampy bog, making traversing the terrain a nightmare. Or the Underground Fish Projection technique, which allowed the user to submerge themselves into the earth and move about freely, potentially ambushing their enemy or escaping a particularly nasty attack. Oh, that reminded him of a wood technique he wanted to learn, Wood Locking Wall, a defensive technique that...
The young Senju was lost in thought, thinking about his clan and the unique Kekkai Genkai he possessed and all the jutsu he wanted to learn that he almost didn't see the other person on the training ground. As Yukio approached, he saw the younger boy, who was probably around 10 or so, standing within the yard. It looked as though they were here to train as well. 'Oh, I was beginning to think that no one ever comes here!' Yukio thought as he walked nearer the other person. Yukio drew closer and observed the other shinobi. The pale skin and spiky black hair immediately gave an impression of a young Uchiha clan member, but the red eyes with three tomoe within guaranteed it. Yukio gave a small wave in greeting.
"Hello! I'm Senju Yukio. You must be an Uchiha, given your striking eyes there. The Sharingan is truly something to behold in person." Yukio was, if he was being honest, somewhat jealous. Yes, he had been blessed with strong vigor and unique and powerful jutsu by his clan, but the Sharingan always struck him as the ultimate Dojutsu, although he really only knew of the two, Sharingan and Byakugan. Now that he was thinking about it, why did they both end in -gan? That's kind of strange, isn't it? Regardless, Yukio waited for the response of the young Uchiha boy. Perhaps they would like to do some training together?
