When the doppelgängers had been defeated, Asami hadn't known what to expect. But the avatar of nightmares had quickly made itself known. It tried to taunt them, largely unsuccessfully, she noticed. For it seemed they were. group with a particularly strong will. This was made even more evident when, in the midst of cold and sinister darkness, Asami felt the presence of a beacon of hope. It was Kurai, her chakra (or was it her soul?) expanding in a tangible force from her body, reaching out toward the other comrades. Ryou took notice of it as well, and soon, the Shinkou's spirit had joined with Kurai's, the force becoming brighter and warmer. Then Yukio did the same, and witnessing this connection between shinobi, Asami's own spirit was stirred. Yes, this was what they were fighting for. And together, their spirits would be stronger than anything that dared to threaten them. Asami's own spirit began to take shape around her as a whitish-blue aura, which spread out quickly to join with the others, a pact of unity against this beast.

Then the battle began. Yukio was the first to act, and Asami stared for a moment as she witnessed the boy's jutsu, slightly awestruck at its magnitude and execution. Was this really the boy she'd met recently who had just graduated from the academy? When the wood dragons appeared and Yukio jumped onto it, Asami followed suit, drawing her blade. She would take this fight directly to the monster, alongside Yukio. Kurai meanwhile did a great job of covering them from a distance, her arrows striking powerful blows. Asami's sword was swift, slicing fluidly at any point she could reach, chakra flowing through the blade like a million razors. It didn't take long for the foe to be vanquished.

And then it was over. The group found themselves back at the start, the atmosphere no longer dark and turbulent, as though nothing had ever happened. They had done it. As she became nearer to waking, Asami noticed her dreamlike appearance slowly fade, until she was back in her usual attire, looking perhaps a bit like she needed a nap. Ironic, considering that this whole thing had happened while her body was asleep. At the very least, resting would no longer be a danger to any of them, or their waking world. And that was the best result Asami could have hoped for. "Thank you all, for your bravery and skill... Not one of us could have achieved this alone. It is nice to know that there are people I can rely on... if I see any of you in the waking world, I will look on you as a friend and comrade. For that you have my word." The Hyuuga bowed gently to her peers, before slowly fading from the land of dreams. She had a feeling that nothing in the waking world would seem quite so scary, anymore.
