Bank Maintenance
Patrol Training
Planted firmly in the ground, his back covered in small marks from the rubble was Jiraijin, a member of the Hozuki clan. On his face dropped a drop of blood, he had been hit by one of his classmates firmly with the flat squared edge of a Tanto. Jiraijin gritted his teeth, grabbing a handful of sand and pushed himself up, snarling at the opponent he had found himself against.
”I will break you you know that, I’l find a break in that defence of yours and break your jaw!” Jiraijin spat out the blood pooling in his mouth, covering the sand with a fine mist. He pointed his hand at the combatant , who apparently had more time to train than he. and once again raised his fist, the other hand up and ready to pommel the black haired student. The two of them had come here as an orientation, to see how Jiraijin’s skills were before he started classes; he was annoyed by the apparent lack of skills he had. Though that should have been obvious the more he thought about it. His brothers vastly outskilled him, the two of them wipe sweat off their heads, their bands coated in a fine mist of water from the mist that they had used themselves.
”You can stumble around in the mist as much as you want little brother, until you can do something to move it - I’m afraid your stuck with hitting aimlessly into the void” The oldest of the two, Iwami.
They were right, before anything he would need to learn how to utilise the Hiding in the Mist Jutsu eventually, though it was vastly out of his skill set currently. For now he would need to learn the basics, get through the Academy and become something more than a fisherman’s son.
”Shut up” Jiraijin gritted his teeth, two sharp incisors drawing blood along his lip, his eye’s fixated on his siblings, his annoyance for there pettiness and showmanship of showing off he presumed, he shook his head and stood straight and gave up with the fight.”I’m due out on a mission, we’ll continue this later” He dismissed himself from the pressures of his family, picked up a collection of makeshift weapons and headed back towards Kirigakures central compounds, he was due on a Patrol mission with a squad of Genin. They were to take a boat out of the village and search for bandits on the coast. ”I’ll see you both at home later, don’t forget to check in with Dad”
”Goodluck Jiri.” the two of them waved to him, within a few moments the sound of steel on steel could be heard as the two continued to fight amongst themselves.
Jiraijin made his way to the Bank, where he was due to do a shift to assist with the security of the facility, in his back pocket was a second scroll, this one contained an assignment for him to complete which was very much in line with the objectives of this mission too. He was to learn about patrolling, learning the important skills and what to look out for when on a security detail. Twice the pay for the same work? Not a problem.
The opportunity to work at a bank came very infrequently, the entrustment of its resources was huge, so those who did this mission would have to be vetted first by there teachers he assumed, he was half right - the shift wouldn’t let him anywhere near the main vault or anything of real worth, but it was still a good opportunity and one he would take as serious as every other mission he had worked on so far.
The sun was midway through the sky, shining brightly through the village. A stark contrast to the barrier that kept the village safe. The bank he had seen before, he had come here to make deposits with his father. He entered the front entrance, marvelling at the design of the building. ”Hello?” Jiraijin waited at the front desk, the building was busy with customers back and forth but the front desk was unoccupied, save for other clients being in what appeared to be 1 to 1 meetings to discuss finances. His pocket felt extremely light compared to what he expected, the wealth being exchanged here.
Silently he was approached by another worker, who clearly wondered why he was here. ”I’m here to help with some… admin tasks” he was as vague as the initial mission dossier had been. Jiraijin was directed to the open plan desks, coated in paper. The idea was for him to wait until close and secure the building, he would then become a night patrolman and keep an eye on the building as part of a squad of other watchmen, he would be the least qualified though he figured this was because he was the cheapest and they were filling seats as opposed to his actual need, but it was a paying job and he’d take it seriously regardless.
The building was quiet now, save for the boots scraping on the ground of the other patrolmen, they echoed the hollow halls and signaled there location, they weren’t covert nor trained in the art, they were a deterrent at best. As he patrolled the building he tidied stacks of paper, took up a mop and cleaned up the halls to a shiny sheen, maintaining a clean and professional environment was crucial in a bank, clinical was the right word - he remembered it from his childhood, being able to see his reflection in the floor.
Once the tidying was complete, Jiriajin moved on to the next task ensuring everything was locked up. Checking every door became his priority, all those that were supposed to be locked at night were diligently checked three times, this included doors, windows and even safe’s - though they were all locked anyway, at each corner of the building he checked for chakra disguises, running his hand against the wall or double checking behind him. The others shook there head when they saw him, “more of a problem than an asset!” They said, though he noted they were pretty pointless anyway.
Once the inside was checked and he was able to move from his given route he came out of a service door and checked that too, the exterior of a building was usually its weakpoint and could be overlooked - he checked for gaps in the brickwork, cracks in windows, even footprints leading to the walls to see if anyone had begun to try and tunnel in. Thankfully, it was all quiet.
With the nightly maintenance work done and complete, Jiraijin took a log of his actions, checking for the times and to make sure nothing had been copied or counterfeit, he didn’t recognise the signatures of the other Patrolmen but he took a mental note of any intricacies just in case he returned to this place. Before he knew it the halls were lit up by the sunrise, signalling the end of the shift.
It was an uneventful night, but for once that was appreciated. By the time he got home and closed the door, he was already face down on the floor with a blanket wrapped around him. He made a groan before he started snorting… damn night shifts.
