- Simple Delivery:
- “You wish for me to deliver your goods for you?” Sukiba’s jovial voice spoke out at the offer of a local merchant that she was visiting because of the job-wanted posters she had all around the small town that Sukiba was staying in. The older woman gently nodded, revealing to the red-haired woman an assortment of different herbs, spices, and even salt with a wave of her hand. They were neatly contained inside packets of different sizes and shapes. All for the expressed purpose of delivering them to a caravan that was a few towns southward. Sukiba could only marvel at how much there was, different spices from all over the world were right in front of her, yet she was simply delivering it all for one older woman who didn’t have her normal assistant to do it for her. Sukiba didn’t even know what to say, simply flabbergasted by the appearance of all of these strange new herbs and spices she was introduced to in a fraction of a second. Her brain was almost becoming fuzzy with the smell of it all mixing in an intense attack on the senses. Sukiba took a deep breath, focused now on helping the older women.
“I hope this isn’t too much for you, you don’t seem to have a big enough bag to fit all of these in. . . I can provide you with a new bag if you so wish free of charge,” The old woman's voice croaked out. Sukiba gave a small smile before nodding her head, she did notice her original satchel was becoming a bit rundown. Especially with how the strap was beginning to fall apart slowly but surely. “I accept the offer, thank you very much for your kindness in allowing me to deliver all of these for you!”
“The pleasure is all mine, thank you, deary, for volunteering when nobody else would. . . You’re a good soul child. . .” The compliment struck a cord down her chest, almost like she had been stabbed with a knife to the heart. She felt that strike of pain that hit so deeply, the thought of having her mother, or father say that to her again. It hurt her too much to even describe, but she knew that’s why she had to keep on fighting for this goal. To be able to incinerate all that followed and worshipped the very cult that took her parents away. That had been meant to sacrifice her and her friends inside of that small temple. Sukiba took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts once again before she began to get up, the old woman, with a wave of her hand, motioned one of her helpers to bring forth the carrying bag. Sukiba stood there for a few moments, curious as to how big this bag was going to be. The arrival of the bag was rather meager actually, even though the size of it was rather noticeable. It was almost twice the size of the original, the leather looked of unmatched quality, and it was perfect for her travels into the next few towns over, especially with how she needed as much as possible.
“T-thank you! Thank you so much! I can keep this?!” She shouted with wonder, almost ripping the bag out of the young helper's hands, Sukiba held the bag with a firm grip. The elder woman nodded, a small smile on her lips. Her wrinkled skin stretching out slightly gave Sukiba a warm feeling in her stomach again, it helped her forget the small stab of pain she felt earlier on. How it reminded her too much of what she wished for most of all. She wished she could see her parents again, let them enjoy her company, and see how she’s grown into a capable woman who won’t take crap from anyone. She wanted them to see how she had grown so much and was ready to listen and care for them. She’d do anything for them to see her as a strong person, as someone that they could be proud of with all of their heart and soul. Yet she knew that the idea was a fantasy not based on reality. She was cursed to forever wish and hope that she could see her family again.
“I promise I’ll get these delivered! Thank you so much!” She said, taking a small stroll out of the house with her massive bag filled to the brim with spices that she was meant to deliver. Sukiba’s red hair softly flowed in the wind while she walked around the small town square, and then eventually walked out of the town entirely and moved onto the next ones towards the south, taking the designated road this time around. She was confident enough as is, and she had her weapon on her. It wouldn’t be wise to attack someone who seemingly knows how to defend themselves. She’d continue down her path along the ever-changing and winding roads. Coming across one of the towns as they were seemingly celebrating the new year with fireworks and showcases of ninjutsu for everyone to see. She’d only walk past, the small glimmer of fire reflecting off of her face as she walked past. It breathed a small bit of life into her. She was smiling as she made her way out of the village. Holding tightly onto the bag that she had been gifted.
The small winding roads slowly seemed to merge in Sukiba’s mind while she walked along them. The sun slowly began to set and she let out a yawn. She could feel the weight of the bag begin to slowly slow her down. But she knew she was so close to the final town she needed to be at. The caravan at least would be there already and would stay for another 2 or 3 days. Sukiba just needed to focus and trot through these last few kilometers. Her body felt sore from all the work she had been doing throughout the week. She barely felt like she had gotten enough rest at all. Yet she’d continue to walk along these winding roads. Feeling the cold air against her skin, the lights of the town were slowly beginning to come into view as she walked. Her hair is now a tangled mess from all of the walking. Yet she had made it to the final town. The lights were shining brightly, and not only that, but she could tell which was the caravan that she was supposed to meet with. Their appearances were rather strange, one was a man who wore a red hat and matching jacket, a hulking blacksmith of immense size and seemingly strength as well, and a woman who wore small green robes and baggy pants. They were rather strange characters, but she felt like she almost fit in with them within the crowds. Yet she had delivered the herbs on schedule, allowing herself to finally rest, even if it meant that the caravan members had allowed her to sleep in one of their makeshift homes. . . Sukiba dreamed of a small field of flowers, with herself in the middle, lying there in awe of the world around her.

- Toll Troll:
- She knew that she shouldn’t have taken the job, being someone who takes payments from people always sounded slimy. Sukiba rolled her eyes at the man before her, he looked smug since she had met him. Greasy slicked-back hair, a plane, almost old-fashioned-looking business suit, and a small pin on his jacket that was a small shuriken. All of it screamed that he was looking for attention. Yet the worst part about it was his attitude towards her, mainly in how he spoke to her that was the issue. He thought that he could simply steamroll over her while he spoke, his eyes lingered on her for too long at times, almost as if he wasn’t focusing on who she was, but on how she simply looked. A red-haired, attractive young woman who would take money from people to cross a simple bridge? If it meant that she could at least get some information about the supposed Jashin Temple that was around here. She would have to swallow her pride as the man spoke to her, playing with his fingers as his eyes stared down at her own body. Piercing into her, almost as if his gaze would magically let him see more than what she was revealing. A sleazeball nonetheless, but someone that at least promised to pay her in full.
“You should know what to do at least Sukiba, just ask people for their money, and if they don’t, use that sword of yours. It shouldn’t be too hard, especially for someone of your skill level,” Sukiba almost wished she could conjure a fire release jutsu to make him burst into flames. But she had not yet found a way to mold her chakra to that level. She was a novice in the arts of learning and manipulating her chakra to its fullest extent. Sukiba’s gaze only lingered on him for a moment longer until she responded in kind, a small click of her tongue as she did so.
“I understand how to do my job, Saul, you don’t need to educate me on how to take money from people,” She grumbled to the Crime Boss, he only responded with a confident smirk of his own. She knew that he was in control of the situation, but being on his payroll was much better in her eyes than the ones who could benefit the most from it. Those being real murderers, those that would kill without a second thought even if it wasn’t in the mission description. She’d quickly get up from her seat, nodding her head towards the two that were inspecting the meeting that had taken place, allowing her to go on ahead out of the room and back into the freshness of the fields, the brisk warm air even in the winter surprised her. But she could not mind how well the wind felt against her skin. Even as she was informed of where she would be going, nearby the tundra where a small bit of trade had become to expand outwards. She didn’t even know why this was the case, however, it didn’t matter much to the redhead. She knew that she had a job that needed to be completed, even if she was going to have to get slightly mean at times to complete it.
Arriving at the small road, there was a booth already set up on either side of the road, She and another person would be collecting payments from those who would be walking along the road. The process was rather simple, telling them to stop and asking that they pay the fee to use the road. If they didn’t pay the fee then they would be turned back, if they did they’d be allowed through. Those that did not comply would be either sent packing or if they were to be aggressive, to be dealt with in whatever manner was necessary to complete the mission. Sukiba could only hope that everyone had enough money to pass through. But even then, she had a feeling that those who didn’t weren’t going to pick a fight with her and whoever decided to show up inside the toll boxes. She focused in the distance, trying to see if there was anyone that would be coming along the road. Yet all she could see was nothing, her head slowly beginning to be held by her hand while she looked at the small sun in the bright blue sky. It had always comforted her in moments like these. To see the sun in all of its glory in plain view, the warmth of the sun's rays pushing against her skin. It wrapped around her like a warm blanket, almost allowing her to doze off on occasion when she saw that no one was coming.
She thought that someone would have shown up by now, but to no avail, instead, all she got stuck with was someone who also did not want to talk, which left her bored out of her mind while inside the toll box. Her only thought right now was how boring it was, but then, almost as if a saving grace had begun to descend the earth, people began to show up. Mostly that of merchants, her demeanor changed drastically in an instant, now she finally had some amount of work to do. The merchants were surprised at the sight of the toll box but paid no real mind to it while they walked forward. When they reached a meter away from the box, Sukiba’s voice would loudly call out to the merchants.
“Hold on! You have to pay the toll!” She announced, which caused the merchant's eyes to widen, wondering why there had to be a toll on this specific road anyway.
“This is a trading route, you can’t play a toll here! How will we get through without forking our legs for it?!” One of the younger ones called out, his face was sharp, his jaw was strong and so was his build, yet she knew that he didn’t possess any real form of strength in this world. Only a small amount of money could get you so far in this life. Sukiba remained calm, as she explained how the toll was meant to raise funds for better projects within the small villages around here. Yet she also added that failure to comply would lead them to be kicked away, and at worst dealt with by any means necessary.
More and more people began to show up throughout the day, some of them were rather reasonable, others she had to smack with the handle of her sword to get them to quiet down. But overall, she could say that it was rather relaxing, even if she found the idea of tolls to be a bit bullshit anyways.

- Simple Smuggler:
- Saul had been rather impressed on her first mission, the toll assignment had gone on pretty well for her. But it came to something that she was not expecting. She was back inside of that room again, Saul’s eyes staring down Sukiba with a different intention this time. His black hair was still slicked back. A lit cigarette on his lips while he spoke to the red-haired missing ninja. She felt different about how he looked, now she was meeting him eye to eye. Her reddish eyes stared down at his eyes that were as green as a pine leaves. Her scorching red eyes stared back with resolve to deal with the mission he was willing to assign to her. A small puff of smoke escaped his lips before he spoke. “I need you to deliver something for me Sukiba, it’s something rather important, or rather a few things that are important to me, my wife is in a neighboring small village around the east of the plains, I need you to drop off a few supplies for her, mainly ivory tusks that I had stored in this scroll here.”
Sukiba was surprised at the wife comment but did not comment on it due to how dire this situation felt. He’d reveal the scroll with a wave of his hand, the scroll was bound by 2 dark wooden studs on either side of it. He’d continue to hold onto the scroll while continuing his explanation of what Sukiba’s assignment was to be. “You’ll need to get this scroll past the guards, someone before you had tried to smuggle in a few materials a few months ago, I heard the guards are still keeping him in jail until he confesses who sent them, you don’t want to end up like that do you?”
Sukiba gave a small nod, “Of course not, I'll be sure to deliver the scroll in your hands without getting caught.”
Saul’s face morphed into a small, twisted grin. Tossing Sukiba the scroll, she’d easily catch it with the palm of her hand. Immediately pocketed it inside of her satchel while she thought of something to either get passed the guards or to make sure that she went in without raising any suspicion of what she was bringing along. Her thoughts ran wild for a moment, thinking about how to go about this while she was walking out, yet right before she did so, she’d turn around to greet Saul while he was still sitting down on one of the chairs.
“Oi! Saul! Do you have any spare scrolls and clothes? I need them for this!” She’d call out, waving the mob boss down while he was still busy smoking his cigarette. He’d blink once, then twice, before turning his head up to greet Sukiba’s eyes. Knowing that she had a plan of some kind gave him hope that she knew what she was doing, and yet he’d motioned her to come back inside, as now she had grabbed his attention with full force.
“Alright, what’s your plan? Why would you need clothing and scrolls?” He asked, his eyebrow raised from the sheer thought of something like this, but Sukiba was not worried, not worried at all. All she had to do was to get some scrolls, about 5 or 6, and then stuff as much clothing as possible into the scrolls so that way they would not arouse suspicion. This was certainly something interesting for the crime boss to see, and for Sukiba to volunteer to come up with a plan. She’d turn towards him, red hair covering one of her eyes while she gave a confident smile.
“I’ll be able to hide the scroll in plain sight! Especially if I go in when it’s busy since they won’t focus solely on me. I’ll be able to hide it in plain sight so long as all the scrolls look identical! I should be fine!” She said with a confident smile. Saul’s smile remained hidden under his mouth before he motioned for one of his underlings to go and grab the scrolls that she would be looking for. It was enough at least to where she could practice sealing them inside of said scrolls. The scrolls would be very interesting to house, especially with how tight the security might have been if someone else had been unable to sneak past the guards to get into the village. Yet she had a feeling that this wouldn’t be a piece of cake either. She’d slowly begin the process of going about sealing clothing into scrolls and then packing them inside of her satchel for storage.
She had thought this would have been a lot harder now that she was looking at it. The small village only really had two guards there to check up on people who were coming in. Mainly doing a pat-down style of interrogation which made her annoyed. At least this gave her practice on drawing ink patterns along scrolls to begin sealing them, soon she wouldn’t even have to draw the seals and instead could create them through chakra. But for now, she’d walk towards the gates, the two guards seeing the young woman, sword on her hip and a satchel on the other raise their eyebrows before telling her to come so that they could see if she had anything bad on her or her bag that wasn’t her sword. She was also told to drop to her side as well. To which she complied. The guards would proceed to pat her down, one of them checking her bag to see seven different scrolls inside of them, each marked with a Kanji that meant clothing. However, she knew where the one that Saul wished to have been delivered was locked tight. Sukiba saw that they had picked out one of the scrolls, moving it around and wondering what was inside of it.
“Why do you have so many scrolls in here lady? You trying to make a fool outta us?!” One of them shouted towards her. Yet she remained calm, offering to open the scroll to let the two guards see what was inside. She’d slowly begin to unfurl the scroll, already knowing that it was not the one that needed to be snuck in, and with a small weave of her hands, she would release the scroll contents out onto the floor. Showing them pairs of dirty clothing that she had packed inside of the scrolls.
“See! Just dirty clothing!” She answered the two guards were baffled that sealing jutsu seemingly could help with the transportation of goods. However, it was far easier than simply holding it inside of a bag. They quickly let Sukiba go, on the deal that she leave one of the scrolls for them to study, which she did not mind giving, so long as it meant she could complete the mission. She was striding around the village, satchel in hand, looking for the address of the house she was supposed to deliver the scroll. Holding onto and keeping the scroll now in her hand, revealing that she had placed small bandages around the special scroll so it could better fit in with the rest. Sukiba only looked on before finally, she had found the address she was looking, for and who to greet her when she strolled up to the door then her benefactor in this whole endeavor. A small smile on his face as he quickly grabbed the scroll and handed her the money without issue. Sukiba quickly nodded, before being shut out of the house for the night, leaving too her to find a place to crash while inevitably waiting until the morning.
Yet she had also realized one thing right before she fell asleep, leading to her screaming into her pillow about how Saul never told her about the Jashin cult's whereabouts or hideouts anywhere. Leading her to curse out the Mob boss in her small motel room, knowing that she had been played like a fiddle once again.
