Working Towards Collective Survival.
Sat Jun 01, 2024 8:41 pm
After learning how to supplement his own survival, Hiroma decided to commit to learning how to help those in his immediate vicinity live through their own mistakes and shortcomings. The order in which he developed these techniques perfectly aligned with his philosophies, helping himself so others could benefit from his survival. Usually, he was an 'offense first' type of soul but he didn't want to let the high, and feeling of accomplishment from learning a new jutsu go to waste. He was going to ride this wave as far as it took him, and at this point, it was looking like he might complete all of his basic medical jutsu training and beyond.
Before all that, he needed to put something in his belly. He essentially starved himself before just to give his brain extra incentive to learn the technique quicker. For a supposed 'future medical ninja', that was unacceptably dangerous, but naturally, he did not take pride in that title. His goal was strength, healing was simply a different way of attaining that strength. People often made the assumption that when he referred to 'strength', he was talking about individual strength he could use to impose his thoughts and ideals onto people. While the latter was true, the former wasn't. In his eyes, people valued a strong leader far more than a charismatic one,
Still though, just because he didn't care about being liked, does not mean he wanted to be hated, even if respect followed after. he was just a kid, after all. It was self-imposed but he did feel a bit lonely in the last decade and a half or so. He had worked his butt off thinking eventually that people would start being impressed or at least respect his effort. All that hard work got him graduating just a bit earlier than normal and slightly above average talent in all things 'ninja'. Before he could be proud of his achievements he realized these are all things that could easily be tied to his lineage and the fact he was a Senju. The fact of the matter was, he was just an average talented kid with nothing special going on for him.
He unpacked his ramen carten as he sat down cross-legged on the bare dirt of the training grounds. He took a massive whiff, taking in the aroma before sticking his chopsticks in. As every noodle slid down his throat he kept using that self-reflection to fuel his own fire. So what if he was only slightly above average, just because it will tear him down in the eyes of people that don't matter to him, doesn't mean that he could just give up on his dreams. His lineage might affect his place in the history books, but he didn't care, he was proud to be a Senju anyway. After downing the last noodle he got up from his sitting position and started practicing his chakra. His new goal was learning healing hands, the most basic of medical jutsu that in hindsight, should've learned before body restoration.
Before eating he was confident the way he viewed others would affect how he would progress in learning this jutsu, but it seems the hunger forced his body to start eating away at his mental fat deposits. The kind that wasn't coated in layers upon layers of ego and unfaltering confidence. He would learn this jutsu even if it killed him. After performing the handseals he would produce a similar-looking chakra, this time he was aware of the fundamentals due to learning how to heal himself, but now he would have to project. Healing chakra begins from oneself and is transferred through the body, that is what he was assuming, but that is only if it is being used to heal one's self. When being projected it needs to take on a form that can be molded by the user, even if to the other person it is intangible. The user needs to be capable of imagining it wrapping around their body, almost like a half-liquid, half-solid substance.
For Hiroma himself, this was hard to imagine as his nature was fire, which was neither solid like earth nor liquid like water. He wanted to just give up and try to add his own spin to it but he was worried that it might impact the quality of his jutsu. Despite it not matter to him much in the long run, he still very much wanted to master this technique, sooner or later. And if the clone technique is anything to go off of, a bad foundation will make it very difficult to tear it all down and start all over from scratch again. he needed good technique, not just stick random elements together and get excited when he managed to heal a cut or two. It was times like this when he wished he wasn't such a prideful brat and asked his superiors for help. But stubbornness and an addiction to the feeling of achieving something through his own efforts forced him to bully himself into brute forcing it.
He tried projecting the healing chakra out as he would a fire release jutsu but he quickly realised why this innovative application was not more used. Attempting to do so will spread it all around like glue but the user will not be able to access it afterwards. Medical Jutsu are meant to be gradual and continuous so cutting it off before anything is healed isn't exactly viable. This was supposed to be obvious from just the thought but the idea of it was too interesting to not try out. His next idea was simply connecting his Bodily restoration with that of another person. He could immediately tell the problem with this as well, the 'through the body' shtick is only how his own brain visualizes the traveling of chakra through his wounds. There is no actual practical proof that this is the same method that works universally among all medical ninjas.
A bit more training and he managed to figure out a way to maintain a physical form for the healing chakra. Previously when he was attempting to learn Bodily restoration he kept getting to this step and he would immediately lose control and the jutsu would collapse before he could do anything. In hindsight, he could say that is because he was attempting to internalize and not project the chakra out, but it made him feel much better saying that all of his trial and error made it easier for him to produce and maintain his healing chakra. The first one would insinuate him learning from his mistakes while the second one shows how resilience can help one achieve great things. Naturally, he found both options appealing but the latter aligned more with his overall view of his growth in the ninja world. His enemies wouldn't get any weaker, so learning from his mistakes won't always be an option. Especially considering how most mistakes out there will not go unpunished, and some might even prove to be fatal.
After a few more practice rounds with some animals and injured people he could find around the village Hiroma was now confident in his healing chakra. He felt his connection to nature growing and he thought this might be a good cutting-off point for his medical ninjutsu journey, at least for now. While he could find his uses as a medical ninja, it was time for him to begin working on his offensive arsenal.
