- Genin Exam:
- Mission Name: Genin Exam
Rank: D
Mission Location: Any Village
Challenges: --
Task: It's that time of year! After studying, you feel prepared to join your village's ranks as a genin, but first, you must pass an exam. Make sure you put your best foot forward- and remember to polish up those Transformations and Clones!
Optionally, this exam may be proctored by another village member with the IC rank of chunin equivalent or higher. In that case, they may adjust the exam as necessary, strictly for CD purposes. A proctor is any rank higher than genin. Usually done by village shinobi, but if they have express permissions for the Kage, a village shinobi from another village may perform these exams.
It should be noted that this mission:
-cannot be used towards any rank-up besides the one mentioned in "Reward."
-cannot be invaded
-cannot be done in multi-mission threads
Word Count Requirement: 1,000
Reward: 1,000 Ryo / 5 AP & promotion to Genin/D Power Rank / 1x Ninja Headband of your respective village
Character Requirements: At least one character must be an E-ranked village ninja. The examinee must have 100+ stats.
Character Exclusive: --
It started like any other day. Akihito was down by the water, gaze cast out to the horizon. Tea in hand the young man was enjoying what little time alone he had. Today was a somewhat important day, so he needed to focus. It was the day of his exam to become a Genin. It felt like he had only been at the academy for a week or so, which was true. Apparently his immaculate sand sweeping ability had gotten him fast tracked. No longer would he have to actually learn useful stuff, for today he was the day he would graduate. At which point he would then be contractually obliged to take part in more manual labour for the good of the village.
It was not the first time Akihito questioned what drove people to sign up for this to begin with. Apparently the pay was good enough to warrant it, but the young man couldn't help but wonder if maybe he should have become a fisherman instead.
Alas it was too late to decide on a career change, probably; and he highly doubted he would find the answers he sought deep while fishing either. No, this was the only way forward for him. He looked to the sky. It was around mid-day, so that meant his exam would be starting soon. "Better get going." He finished his tea, stood up and dusted off the sand, and began to make his way to the academy.
Akihito had spent little time actually in the walls of the shinobi academy. They seemed to favour more practical work, meaning go out and do a bunch of fake missions to prepare yourself. The basic teachings were kept brief, and it was mostly down to your own studying in order to get by. Good thing then that to pass you only had to perform the most basic of basics. Really, the fledgling shinobi were set up to fail.
No time to lament the failings of the schooling system though. That was a job for the people in charge, if they cared at all to begin with. Akihito had one job, and that was to pass this exam. Well, it was actually two jobs. A bad sense of direction seemed to be genetic, as the boy had to try and remember where exactly this academy was to begin with.
Despite living here for most of his life, Akihito still couldn't remember many of the streets. Often times he would just wander around aimlessly, miraculously stumbling across the destination he had in mind to begin with. It was a benefit afforded to him due his complete lack of ever being in a rush. No deadlines, no stress about being late. Except for today. Today was different, and it called for his upmost effort.
So he asked for directions, and found himself in front of Kirigakure's Super Awesome Official Shinobi Academy in record time. Which was good, since his appointment was in five minutes. Which gave him plenty of time to meander to the desk, sign in, and then wait to be called into the examination hall. Said hall was one of the classrooms, which had been only slightly adjusted for today. The proctor was naturally one of the teachers, who seemed to be incredibly bored already. Akihito could understand, the idea of having to sit through this exact same exam multiple times must be very boring.
Not his problem though, he only had to sit through it the once...hopefully.
The proctor turned their attention to him when he entered. They were an older woman, stern-faced with a furrowed brow, who motioned for Akihito to come to the centre of the room.
"Akihito Tadashi, welcome to your Genin Exam." The woman spoke robotically. They likely had gone through this exact same spiel hundreds, if not thousands, of times before. "This exam will test what you have learned during your time at our illustrious academy. Should you prove to have successfully learned the Clone and Transformation Technique then you will be welcomed into our ranks as a Genin. Are there any questions?"
Well, yes, the blonde had many questions. None of them were relevant though, so probably best to just keep quiet and get on with it then. He shook his head.
"Then begin with the Clone Technique."
Simple enough, all he had to do was create an exact copy of himself. The boy nodded when given leave to begin, bringing up his hands in front of him. His hands clasped together, forming the Ram hand seal. He felt his chakra going to work, forming the apparition that matched his appearance. They stood by his side, a mirror image of his own appearance. Akihito took a moment to look it over, eyes briefly moving over to the proctor in order to try and get a handle on what they were perhaps thinking.
The proctor didn't seem to react, their expression neutral. Not impressed then, and not visibly disgusted. Akihito supposed that was a good thing.
"Next the transformation technique." The proctor continued once the clone of Akihito had dissipated.
"Okay." Akihito replied with a nod. Now, this was one that was actually somewhat difficult...well at least compared to the clone technique anyway. Picking what he wanted to transform into was difficult enough. Then he had to copy it's features as close to exact as possible, which was also a massive pain.
Akihito looked around the room briefly, then just decided to copy the proctor right in front of them. Akihito moved his hands together once more, forming the Dog hand seal. His chakra went to work once again, his appearance shifting in a puff of smoke. Smoke dispersing, his appearance had shifted into the proctor who was stood in front of him.
Naturally, it wasn't an exact replica. There was some improvement needed, but judging by the look on the proctor's face, that of complete neutrality, it wasn't horrendously bad.
"Examination over." The proctor declared, as Akihito dispelled the technique.
He stood around awkwardly for a moment or two before the proctor spoke up once more.
"Akihito Tadashi, pass. Collect your headband at the reception, and welcome to the Genin ranks."
