Appearance: Hiruma walks with a noticeable limp, and is aided by a cane everywhere he goes. He appears much older than his age, rounded shoulders, stunted gait, as well, once black hair has faded to light brown due to torture and stress. His left leg is lame, and in constant pain due to injuries received in the Hoshimura rebellion. He can often be seen clutching his knee or rubbing his calf. He stands at an average height, but because of his injuries he slumps forward appearing smaller than he actually is. He needs constant medical treatment and rarely eats; he is missing half his teeth, which are always hidden behind his half mask. He has a surprisingly attractive face despite his grotesque injuries, as well gray eyes that appear white in the sun. Hiruma's most notable piece of clothing is his high collared robe.

Personality: Hiruma is hateful, rude, bitter, and above all cynical. He views the Shinobi world as a farce, and treats it as a target for his mockery. Rueful of his current physical condition and constantly rearward looking: he laments the boy he once was and the man he could have became. Hiruma is deeply insecure of his appearance and avoids polite society; will simultaneously use his appearance to gross out people he dislikes. His biggest regrets are the Hoshimura rebellion, and the role he played in it. He received his greatest defeat there, and the injuries that crippled him at the hands of Hoshi ninja. He finds it ironic that he is now among their ranks. Regretful of his past, he holds a grudge against Ootsu Yamaguchi for forcing his house to fight on the wrong side, as well, Hiruma is jealous of Ashborn for being her natural heir. Despite this, he is fiercly loyal to his clan, and wont hesitate to defend the clan's reputation and honor. Regarded as a once reputable swordsman, his injuries now prevent him from crossing blades, and now resorts to clan techniques to defend himself. He enjoys gambling and drinking wine in his free time.

History:

Born to the second son of Ootsu Yamaguchi, Hiruma was raised in Tsukiakari with all the opulence of nobility. His youth was spent studying the sword, and practicing swordplay with his peers out in the courtyard of the Yamaguchi manor. In his youth, Hiruma was bright and bold, regarded by the House of Yamaguchi as promising, and openly acknowledged as Ootsu' heir until the time of Ashborn's birth. He was never resentful of this fact until much later in life. His childhood went along, growing into a man admist the shadows of their family's crypt. His mind and body fully devoted to his clan, until the Hoshimura rebellion.

Hiruma fought with the Hoshimura clan at the time of their rebellion, leading a legion of men into battle against Hoshi. While attempting to take a lesser city in the south, him and his men were ambushed, Hiruma's soldiers were slaughtered at the hands of Hoshi. He was captured and tortured for information, eventually being escorted to the capital to be held prisoner until the rebellion was put down. He lived this way for a time--in captivity, and after the rebellion he was pardoned and inducted into the Shinobi ranks of Hoshigakure.
