Water Element Training (Closed)
Wed Aug 29, 2012 11:07 am
Thin, chilling winds passed over the beach from the south, and the moon above hung low as it rose, the last shining signs of sunlight disappearing behind Mizuni as he stood upon the beach outside the village walls of Kirigakure. The sand beneath his bare feet was black as was the mood of the setting that had now been lain out for the night, the night sky above a deep, dark blue and the moon ahead that slowly rose over the horizon formed by the water a gleaming white. Mizuni, on this occasion, had left his bow locked safely in his home within the village walls. A repetitive beat was made through sound before Mizuni, the beat created by the consistent noise of short waves of water crashing onto the sand, pushing life from the ocean onto the beach and pulling sand back in. The ocean's force was quite strong, its gentle yet steady waves having a great yet hidden amount of strength. Mizuni's mask gleamed and basked in the moonlight cast down on its dark and dull shades, a small shine reflecting off the metal framing on the sides. He focused chakra into his hands, using all of his knowledge of Ninjutsu he had gained from his time learning in the academy to do so, and began stepping towards the ocean's edge. He then raised his hands and stepped into the water, the cold embrace of the liquid sending slight shivers throughout his body. Mizuni allowed chakra to escape from his hands, though the first attempt caused a spontaneous rate of chakra leakage to occur. The chakra drifted down to the water and swirled it, causing ripples and larger waves around Mizuni's body as it stood there in the water. Soon, Mizuni adapted to the concept and learned slightly how to better flow his chakra. He cleared his mind of all thoughts but his immediate surroundings. He pictured just very few things, his own body, and the water around him. In his mind he imagined the chakra he flowed out of his hands, and with that image, manipulated it with his mind. And surely enough, the water began to be pushed more steadily and more precisely. It started when Mizuni payed attention as a simple, constant ripple effect that went flat across the surface of the water, as if there was one constant stream of water poured into the place Mizuni occupied. But over time as the chakra adapted steadily into a larger flow, the water affected began to become a whirlpool around Mizuni, a low roar from the consistent moving of the water. And then Mizuni abruptly stopped, the water coming to a literally crashing halt with force up against the sands of the beach.
Mizuni slowly backed up and out of the water, turning around towards the village. He then picked up into a run and headed around the village walls to the gates of the Hidden Mist Village, formerly known as the Bloody Mist. He entered the village and ran back home, ready to sleep after a short yet tiresome night. The benefits of the work however was that he now had a better understanding of the ability to expel chakra and control the water by flowing chakra into it. It was simple really, and just required the chakra to not resist the water, but simply guide it lightly and overall eventually control the flow. At least that was what Mizuni had learned. He passed the two guards at the gate, who spoke to him in a quiet voice but the words were unheard as Mizuni felt no need to pay attention to what the words were. He just continued in the direction of his home. He soon arrived and opened the door, running up the single staircase and into his room, where he then jumped onto the bed in the room and quickly fell asleep, never removing his mask.
The next day
Mizuni was awakened by the sound of tapping on the glass of his window. He rose from his bed and stepped shortly to the window, squinting at the cold sunlight of the early morning the flowed in through the glass. He opened the window and quickly grabbed the bird that had been making the noise on the glass by the torso, seeing the message attached to its chest. He removed the small scroll from the holder on the bird's chest and let go of the bird, the bird flying back out through the window and disappearing in the distance shortly. Mizuni glanced down and went over the scroll, reading the small, fancy writing embedded on the paper.
Dear Mizuni Kutsuru,
You have been invited to come to the Ninja Academy of the Village Hidden in the Mist once more for another bonus lesson that will help you learn more about how to control your chakra and to control elements in elemental jutsu! This is a good opportunity to prepare you for the world ahead, the life of the ninja, and to better your skills in case you face any dangers along the tough road ahead. The class, of course, is completely optional, but is highly recommended, so come down back to the Academy, meet old faces, possibly new ones, and pick up some valuable knowledge along the way! After all Mizuni, knowledge is power and a great weapon against your opponents.
Sincerely,
Your Sensei
Mizuni raced his eye across the paper, reading it and taking in the information quickly. He didn't really like the idea of going back to the Ninja Academy and facing the children, and also mainly his teacher. He remembered distantly the instant in which he had dealt a quite dangerous blow to one of his classmates in a duel, having shot the child Jiku in the chest with an arrow. He didn't think that was something that was looked kindly upon in a simple, fair fighting duel. Though, then again, the letter was right. Knowledge was power. It was decided, Mizuni would go to the bonus lesson tonight to learn about chakra control and elemental jutsu. It would help him more in learning how to control the water that was oh-so abundant around his village. It was settled, Mizuni headed out of the house and into the village, heading to a clothing store to see if he couldn't get a nice outfit for tonight. Even though it wasn't really necessary, as he dressed well enough and was recognized clearly by the strange mask the child wore.
Later that night, Mizuni arrived at the entrance to the Ninja Academy, seeming to be fashionably late as he heard an introduction to the lesson through the doors being given in the main lobby of the academy. In his regular clothing, Mizuni stepped forward and pushed the door open, instantly his eye being overwhelmed with the light of lanterns around the walls and candles on the floor. The man at the back of the room instantly looked up at Mizuni and gave a neutral look, showing no particular emotions towards his appearance. Mizuni stepped into the room and sat down cross-legged, scanning over the group of children who now sat and taking note of their chakra signatures. There were only very few new signatures, those that seemed to mostly be of eager, newer students who had, Mizuni assumed, only been enrolled in the Ninja Academy quite recently. The man who stood now continued his lecture, telling about how to train the ability to control one's chakra and flow it to different parts of the body. He then went on to describe the basic abilities most all Genin and above knew how to use. Those described were the ability to walk on water and to walk on solid surfaces, both of which utilized chakra control to attach themselves and walk on surfaces with chakra in their feet. The teacher went on, continuing to give information about how to control chakra and the such, Mizuni taking mental notes down for his memory on these basic abilities and principles. Mizuni went on to come up with his own principles, metaphors, and similes to take note of for when attempting chakra control, those that would aid in the thinking and such behind the ability of chakra control. And after a few minutes of talking about the ability to manipulate flow of chakra, the teacher finally went on to the introduction about elemental jutsu.
He explained that there were a few different ways that ninja utilized elemental jutsu and how they did so that were found commonly in use of jutsu. The first he explained was creating a certain element from converting chakra within the body to that targeted element. He talked about examples like things like Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu, or those water style jutsu that allowed the user to create water from within with chakra and expel it usually out of the mouth. He then went on to explain the use of already existing elements like water in jutsu, and how a ninja could simply use his chakra to manipulate the movements and state and power of the element along with shaping it to use it in a jutsu. Mizuni thought back to last night and how he had created a small whirlpool by flowing his chakra. The teacher then explained that he would give a demonstration of these two methods, and brought out three things from a closet nearby. There was a rock, a candle, already lit with a small flame, and a bowl of water. Somewhere in Mizuni's head he wondered how the candle hadn't burned down the building. The man then lay them out on the table in front of him and concentrated deeply. After a few seconds he gave a relaxed look and moved his right hand over the rock, which was on the left most side of the table. He then raised his hand and slammed it down onto the rock, the rock instantly breaking with dust. When it was seen again the rock was the symbol for the village of the Hidden Mist. The students clapped. Mizuni, watching the demonstration, decided he had all he needed to know for now and that the petty demonstration currently was just a show. He got up and walked towards the door, but was stopped by an assistant to the man teaching the students now. The assistant explained to Mizuni that the stack of small papers he held was chakra paper, and allowed one to learn their chakra nature by focusing their chakra into it and watching the results. The boy forced one of the papers into Mizuni's hand and smiled. Mizuni simply continued on his way out the door, heading back home to sleep for the night and rest on what he now knew.
The next day
Mizuni woke up early in the morning the day after the elemental jutsu and chakra manipulation lesson. He rubbed his eyes and got up, already dressed and left the house, heading for the village gates. He felt the paper that he held in his hand, having fallen asleep last night with it still in his hand. Chakra paper, huh? Maybe I'll test it out.... The child continued out the village gates and turned right, heading around the walls and to his normal training spot, the beach of the village. Once there, he simply sat down with a thump on the sands of the beach, holding the chakra paper and gazing at it through mask. He held it there, and decided to try it, and remembered the code of results from the assistant that determined which chakra nature you had. Mizuni closed his eyes and focused chakra into the hand that held the paper, then flowing it into the paper. But the events that next occurred were quite strange. At first it burned and singed, but then reverted back to paper. It then began to turn hard and crumble slightly like rock, but then reverted back. A cut then appeared in the paper, but only very small. But then it began to turn wet and soggy, and there were no more changes. It was quite strange indeed, but Mizuni came to the conclusion of his chakra nature being water. He balled the small note of paper up and threw it into the ocean, then standing and walking into the water. He flowed chakra to his feet and expelled a small amount, that would then mix with the water and push it away from Mizuni, the tides carrying the piece of chakra paper away. Mizuni headed back home with his new knowledge.
