Sanji perused the file that contained the mission information after accepting it, taking under advisement any helpful info that will expedite this process and see to it that this mission is done promptly, because important tools were stolen during a raid on a cargo convoy on its way to Konoha. He read that a merchant convoy had been ambushed as they were delivering newly made ninja tools to Konoha that the village had ordered. This was unsettling because there could be so many reasons behind such a theft, not only money but preparation for an invasion too, as lacking such tools meant that the village's shinobis wouldn't be as well armed as they might need to be. Techniques only take one so far, sometimes it's just down to grit and determination, fighting like a crazed animal with a single kunai to vanquish your foe. Or to set up traps to ensnare them without risking combat at all. The utility was vast, and the implications were serious. Certainly Konoha wasn't completely disarmed because of this, but a blade can only be sharpened so many times before one needs a new one. Likewise sometimes things are broken - weapons don't last forever. Sanji let out a light sigh and said," I'll be back soon, though I may need to acquire help to haul the items to the village, I don't exactly own a wagon." he quipped.
Setting the file back down on the desk as all mission files were top secret, he formed the seal of the ram and molded his chakra to speed his body away from the office with the body flicker technique. Once at the merchant's gate of the village, he traversed the threshold and walked along the path, looking for any indication on the way to the site where the convoy was attacked as to whether it was people from within Konoha who had done the thievery. He came up short on evidence for a good ways, leading him to believe that without a doubt this was a threat from without, not within. It was understandable that some would seek Konoha's downfall, historically it had always been among the most powerful villages, if not the most powerful one of them all. That wasn't by luck or chance, though, as this village expects excellence from all of their personnel.
At last when Sanji came upon the scene of the crime, broken wagon parts and other debris laying around, he carefully stepped around things so as not to disturb them while he investigated the scene. The ground was fairly hard so footprints were not really an option here. When he came upon a single kunai stuck into the hardened path, he pulled it up and looked at it. No doubt it had fallen from the cargo that was stolen, this indicated haste, undoubtedly from bandits who know the implications of stealing from a ninja village. So Sanji carefully began working his way outward concentrically from the scene of the crime, looking for other fallen tools or something else to indicate a clear path leading to where the bandits were hiding out, as he believed this to be where they would find their missing ninja tools shipment. Sanji made a point of being extra wary of who and what might be around him at all times, as sometimes it wasn't bandits out for a buck looking to steal such things, but ninjas from rival villages or criminal organizations looking to weaken the village and soften it up for an attack. One careless moment and someone could launch an attack with a jutsu before he ever had a chance to defend himself. Another kunai was found northeast of the scene of the crime, so he measured his direction and then walked northeast, finding a moist bit of trail that was hidden by artificially manipulated brush. Here he found definitive footprints, and they looked fresh.
Sanji went into stealth mode, his movement was silent, wary of even the smallest twig under his boot as he carefully moved amongst the brush, still looking for clues. It was then that he came upon 5 bandits talking things over with what appears to be a shinobi, but he couldn't make out what sort of forehead protector he had, if any. Sanji barely even breathed as he listened to the two parties talking, trying to minimize his signature so he wouldn't be spotted and attacked. He was prepared to defend himself but 6 on 1 were odds he'd rather not deal with, even if only 1 of those 6 was a shinobi." I'm going to need you to take the tools to the desert, west of Sunagakure, there will be a cave there. Leave them inside and you'll receive the second half of your payment upon delivery." The bandits chuckled amongst one another and agreed. Hearing the river flowing from nearby gave him an idea, as he didn't want to let the rogue ninja responsible for making such deals with bandits get away and potentially lose a lead on a threat to Konoha. Historically such failures in acquiring intel were deadly, though Konoha's ninjas were ready for battle at the drop of a hat, response time is what matters in the instance of an invasion. Lives will be lost and forces depleted to a greater degree of detriment to the defense of the village if the forces aren't consolidated right away. Many thoughts ran through Sanji's mind, either way it was up to him to curtail any schemes that would endanger his home, and see to it that the ones responsible were brought to justice, whether the village's justice or his own, and he would have no problem sleeping tonight if for some reason he had to kill them all.
The fast-moving river wouldn't be easily escaped by anyone. Sanji began forming hand seals while he kneaded chakra within - dragon, tiger, hare - then with two fingers held up next to his mouth, He thought," Water release: Wild Water Wave" And from his mouth he blew a powerful torrent of water. The shinobi nor the bandits couldn't react in time as Sanji washed them all into the river. He quickly ran to the riverside and threw both kunai at the shinobi, expertly hitting both arms to literally cut his hand tendons so he could no longer form seals. He grabbed the shinobi and a single bandit out of the water by their throats, slamming them brutally to the ground with his incredible strength. With 2 knocked out, he went and dealt with the other 4 in the same manner, making incredible haste to get them all out of the water. He dragged the other 4 back upriver with little regard to their personal injury. He laid all 6 men out and looked down at them - soaking wet and unconscious, the shinobi's arms still bled a little from the two kunais that he severed his tendons with. That was indeed a cruel way to deal with someone, making their hands useless and then tossing them into a fast-moving river, rendering them incapable of grabbing on to save their life. Nevertheless, Sanji felt it was justified. Though in times as troubling as these it was important for one not to lose their soul among the many demons that walk this earth.
Luckily for the bandits as well as Sanji, the shinobi had a measure of rope large enough for him to string the 6 of them together. With a hard smack to each of their cheeks, he woke them from their forced slumber." Get up, you're coming with me." Said the large genin, towering over even the adult shinobi despite still being very young himself. Slowly but surely they all got up, and Sanji helped the shinobi with the injured arms up as well seeing as he didn't have a whole lot of limbs to work with now." So do you want to open up to me now? Or should I leave you to spill your guts, maybe figuratively, maybe literally, to our resident tokubetsu jounin of interrogation and torture? Either suits me just fine." He said to them all. They all exchanged worried glances before the shinobi with the bandits sealed their fate." I've probably been interrogated by worse, bring it on!" he says." Okay." Says Sanji, certainly not inclined to argue the point, he would be just as happy to dump them off on someone else and collect his reward, plus it was probably for their own good. Sanji could have quite a temper in the right, or wrong situations. And he probably hits harder than the torture expert. It wasn't a terribly long walk back, and he could feel the 6 men dragging their feet a bit as they approached Konoha. He walked them like cattle through the village and came to the interrogation center, where he was greeted outside by the tokubetsu jounin who specializes in this very field." Ah, thank you, Sanji. Are these the bandits that stole the tools?" asked the jounin. " Them, and this fellow with the kunai in his arms is the ninja that was buying them, or the one sent to buy them. I figured you might be interested in having a chat with him to find out who he's working for." The tokubetsu jounin looked a bit wide-eyed at Sanji before smiling at the shinobi." Oh I'm going to have fun with you." Said the jounin, before having them all taken into the building.
A short time later, he reconvened with the interrogator and got a piece of paper showing where the tools were stashed." Here's where they hid the stolen shipment, I'd feel better if you went with the team to retrieve them in case there's trouble." Sanji simply nodded and rushed away to meet with those meant to accompany him to get the tools. He wondered just how big the operation was, and if there were anymore. It seemed rather small time in a way, but even the smallest inconveniences can make or break the future of a village. When they arrived at the spot where the tools were reported to be, crossbows were fired in their direction. With quick thinking Sanji placed his hands out in front of himself and formed the seals - dragon, tiger, hare - as he kneaded his chakra into water element chakra and held two fingers in front of his mouth. " Water Release: Wild Water Wave" He thought, blowing out a large torrent of water that quickly stopped the crossbow bolts in mid-flight. The bandits quickly lost heart after seeing that and raised their hands in the air. Sanji's companions corraled them and he went down into the cave, no one else remained, just 4 large crates. Sanji carefully cracked into the crates, as he didn't know which one might contain the explosive tags shipment, and it wouldn't exactly be mission accomplished if he blew himself and the rest of the ninja tools sky high because of carelessness. He only opened each crate to verify the contents and make sure everything was accounted for. When he was satisfied he lofted a crate in his burly arms and hoisted it out of the cave. Quite impressive, considering it contained 400 pounds of shurikens. He went in to grab another, this one was comparably as heavy, containing kunai. The next two weren't so heavy, given that one contained explosive tags and the other contained ninja wire. Either way, the shortage of both would be mildly curtailed by these recovered items.
With everything loaded onto the wagon they went back to Konoha, 4 more bandits captured and on their way to the den of pain, aka the interrogation center. Sanji certainly didn't envy them. He'd even been close enough to the walls during an interrogation to hear screams of absolute agony resounding from within. It wasn't the most humane treatment, but in troubled times what is a village just trying to survive to do? Sanji put it all out of his mind for now. When they arrived back at the interrogation center, the prisoners were handed off, and then he hopped off the wagon, waving to the chuunin and genin that accompanied him and offered to take the recovered cargo off to the armory. All that was left for Sanji was to go to the mission office and collect his reward.
