Flash got out of bed in the same lazy and sluggish manner that was his habit. He had set his alarm for 7:00 this morning, as he had a very important objective that he was planning to accomplish today. However, in his ambition, Flash had gotten up even before the alarm sounded, it was only 6:30, not even his parents would be awake yet. Flash got up and walked over to his alarm clock, which was on the other side of the room just in case he ever got tempted to hit snooze and go back to sleep. Flash performed his usual morning ritual of throwing on his tracksuit and shoes, putting Pain on his back and his Heaven’s Sorrow Ninjato on his right hip. He then strapped his weapons pouch to his left hip and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Flash was so eager to leave, that he neglected to even eat breakfast. Flash wrote his parents a brief note, letting him know that he had left early to accomplish something important. Right as Flash opened his front door and was about to step out into the gloomy morning, he remembered that he had forgotten something in his room. He quickly sprinted back to his room and grabbed the large scroll that was laying on his bureau. He examined it for a second, still wondering what it did, it had looked interesting and Flash had heard that it had something to do with toads, so he had bought it. Flash liked toads, so he thought that would be a plus. Maybe today he would learn how to properly use it. Flash strapped the scroll to his back and left the house. Flash had a very specific course of action today, which involved leaving the village, so he made his way out of the village gates and into the borders between all of the countries. This walk took about an hour and a half in total. Flash took in his surroundings with awe, this was a vast place, a massive expanse of dense terrain of all sorts of different types, Flash knew not where to go. His intention today was to find the legendary Valley of the End, where many of the greatest shinobi in history had fought epic battles. There were statues dedicated to two of his personal favorites at this place, Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha. These great Konoha shinobi had fought an epic battle at the Valley of the End, he hoped to come here and train under their powerful watch. Flash set out in the direction where he hoped the Valley of the End would be, he had not a map nor the slightest clue where this legendary spot was located, so he was just winging it and hoping he found it eventually. Flash did not care if he had to walk for days, he was going to find the Valley of the End, he knew that there were secrets in this place that he did not yet know of, he wanted to discover them. As Flash walked farther and farther, the more things became unfamiliar and the more he was filled with a feeling that he was not coming anywhere close to his destination. Flash passed through a small expanse of jungle, a forest with gigantic mushrooms and grass up to his torso, a small desert, and now he was descending into the depths of a much larger jungle. Flash looked up at the sky and noticed that it was starting to darken, bringing the ominous nighttime hours along with it. Time had flown by and Flash had not realized how long he had been trekking for. He took a break, and it is then that this time started to hit him. He had left his house at 7:00 and now it was getting dark! It was June and only started to get dark at 9:00, he must have been gone for at least 14 hours by now, his parents must be sick with worry. All of these thoughts passed through Flash’s head, and while they hit him, so did the impending doom of his hunger and thirst. He knew that a person could only go so long without food and water before perishing, and he himself was starting to feel a bit sluggish, as he had not eaten all day. Despite this, Flash got up and kept on moving, as he knew it would still be awhile before his hunger, thirst, and exhaustion really started to hit him. The farther that Flash ventured into the jungle, the more doubtful he became that he was heading for his destination. While he had no clue where the Valley of the End was located, he had heard from friends that had been there before that it was only a 5 hour walk from Tengakure. The sky was pitch black by now and Flash figured that he must have been gone for about 18 hours now, he figured that they would begin to form a search party for him back at the village very soon now. He hoped that the people of his village and the Tenkage didn’t think that he was running away and becoming a missing-nin, as this could have dire consequences for Flash.
Flash continued to trek on for 2 more days and nights, only stopping for brief 4 hour naps a few times. Flash found it odd that he did not encounter any other people on his journey. He had barely seen any animals even and did not know enough about nature to find edible plants or fresh water, so he was at the point where he would soon began to die from his hunger and thirst. Flash’s usually energetic steps had begun to turn slow and sluggish from his lack of fuel and energy, Flash knew he had to find something to eat and drink soon. Flash saw no point in making his way back to Tengakure at this point, as he figured he was completely lost. He would wait until he came across somebody that could feed him and show him his way back to his village. Flash continued his sluggish journey for about another mile before spotting a clearing in the jungle. Flash made his way another 350 meters and found himself free of the treacherous jungle. He even saw what appeared to be a well ahead of him. There was a vast expanse of flat, green grass, after about a mile of this sprawling grassy terrain, what appeared to be a large mountain towered high into the sky. At this point, Flash collapsed with hunger, thirst, exposure, and lack of energy, and he began to crawl like a worm towards the well, the last chance he had at living. It took him 25 minutes to make his way the 100 meters to the well, and it turned out to be all for nothing. When he made it to the well, he glanced down to see that the only water in it was a good 300 meters down, there was no way for him to get to it. With despair, Flash laid his head down on the cool stone of the well and waited for death to stumble upon his despairing soul.
Flash slowly opened his eyes and in a few seconds, his vision came into focus, what he saw was beautiful. There were gigantic trees, flowers and mushrooms covering the landscape in front of him. There was a beautiful spring filled with majestic stone statues of toads all over the place. There were also real toads, both large and small covering the entire landscape. There were many toads that were even bigger than himself. Flash looked up to see the face of an old lady toad peering into his eyes, curious. He flinched back, startled. The old toad began to cackle uncontrollably while holding her stomach and pointing at Flash. She was seemingly amused at scaring the boy out of his wits. Flash looked at his body to see himself covered in a stark white robe, there was a hot, neatly folded handkerchief on his head. He felt much more energetic and alive than when he was in the jungle what seemed like just a few seconds earlier. Flash wondered if he had died and gone to heaven, but if this was the case, why were there so many toads everywhere?
“Where...am I?” Flash asked the old toad, who was still laughing as he spoke. When he spoke, she stopped laughing and a serious expression returned to her face.
“We found you...” she said gravely “You were on the verge of death, dying of hunger and thirst at the base of our mountain. You were unconscious. We knew not what to do, as not many humans unknowingly stumble upon this sacred place. Me and some other toads who had gone to get water figured that you must be either very special, or very stupid. It was then that we saw the symbol on the back of your jacket, the symbol of the Uzumaki clan. You see, we have a very good relationship with the Uzumaki people, Uzumaki Naruto spent much time with us up here.” Flash knew she was speaking of the legendary sage and Kyuubi jinchuriki, Naruto Uzumaki, his ancient relative “We decided to take you back to this place, Mount Myoboku, to see if you were filled with the same talent and spirit as your clansmen. We did not want to see a young life go to waste. You’ve been out three days, we’ve been having to feed you and make you drink water while you were asleep. You’ve made a miraculous recovery.”
After listening to this, Flash sat up slowly. He noticed all of his weapons, equipment, and clothing lying on top of a rock near the springs. “So...I feel better...am I free to leave? Or is there some way that I may repay you for your generosity and hospitality?” Flash inquired, wanting to show his gratitude towards the toads for saving his life.
“Well,” the old lady toad replied “You may leave if you want, but we were hoping to give you something, a sort of gift. We noticed that you had a toad summoning scroll on your person, yet you do not appear to have a contract signed on it.” Flash did not know what this meant, but he was willing to listen to this strange toad’s psychobabble, perhaps he was going to get some sort of new ability out of this. It certainly sounded this way from the way the old lady toad was talking. “Why don’t you follow me,” she said. She started walking and Flash followed. She explained to Flash all about contracts, and summonings, and summoning jutsu and toads. All of that good stuff. She told Flash that the toad race was going to gift him with a summon, as they valued their relationship with the Uzumaki people. The old lady toad brought Flash to a place where there were many young toads relaxing in the hot spring. “These are our newest battle-ready toads. The best of their generation. You may take your pick of which toad you would like as your companion through thick and thin. These toads will progress and grow stronger as you grow and progress, you may also sign multiple contracts as you move on, but for now, you are only able to sign one.” Flash surveyed at the beautiful array of toads in front of him. There was a fluorescent pink toad with blue markings, a yellow toad with black markings, a brilliant red toad with black and yellow markings. They were all quite a site to see. However, Flash’s eyes fell upon a single toad, a particularly majestic and beautiful creature. This toad was a brilliant, glowing, silver color, He had two black lines running down the skin that was above, and below his eyes. His skin was perfectly smooth and glossy, he seemed to glow and radiate with health and majesty. He had two small horns on his forehead. Yet, the most striking feature of this young toad, was his piercing blue eyes. These eyes, they seemed to see right into Flash’s soul, and an immediate bond formed between him and this toad.
“I want...him...” Flash said, pointing to the silver toad.
“Ah,” the old lady toad said with a chuckle “It looks like you have chosen Gamasenkou, my grandson. He’s a good boy, but look out, he can be quite mischievous.”
Gamasenkou grinned as Flash approached him with the scroll. Flash bit his thumb to draw enough blood to write his name, he wrote his name with the essence of his life on the scroll as he had been instructed, forming a bond and contract that he would never break. Next, Gamasenkou came up and signed the scroll saying “I look forward to being your friend,” in the voice of a little boy, he must have been around Flash’s age.
When Flash was done signing the contract, he was given his clothes, weapons, and equipment back, as well as given directions back to his village of Tengakure. He made his way back to his village. A two day journey, but the toads had given him plenty of dried food and water to last him on this journey. He somewhat dreaded returning to his home, he knew his parents would be extremely mad at him. When he arrived, his parents were sitting at the kitchen table, already mourning the disappearance of their son. The search party had been called off, as it had been a whole week and not a trace of Flash had been found. When Flash’s parents saw their son, they burst out in tears of joy, coming up to hug and kiss their boy. Next, when they had significantly calmed down, they motioned for Flash to sit at the table, they sat too. While flash felt much more powerful and invigorated having met his new friends, he knew that his parents would not feel the same way after all the grief that their sun had forced them to endure. Flash braced himself for their wrath, he knew that he had a lot of explaining to do...
