Kankuro’s eyes looked from side to side as he walked through the darkened streets of the village. Tonight he’d been put on guard duty to make sure the village was safe from harm. It may not have been the most adventurous missions, but Kankuro knew that he needed a few more D-Ranks to proceed to the next level. His grip on the sheath of his katana grew tighter as he let out a soft sigh to himself. Letting his head sink down a bit, strands of his hair coming down over his face as boredom over took him. He knew that no one would dare attack the Mist, but in secret he wished someone actually did. He was far from a traitor or anything like that; Kankuro just loved a good fight. Never truly knowing the reason why he desired one so badly, all the young ninja could think the reason was, was simply because it was in his blood.
Continuing along his chosen route, the boy made his way to the store he’d visited often for certain supplies. He watched over the small building for a moment and soon returned to his mission. The only sounds he could hear from around him were small insects crawling through the small patches of grass around the village. Hours began to pass as if they were like minutes wasting away. Soon the temperature began to warm, signaling soon dawn would arrive and Kankuro would be relieved of his duties for the evening. Making his way back towards the village gates, knowing that was where the rest of the night’s guards would meet as well, the boy let out a soft yawn. Suddenly feeling tired, the thought of his warm bed seemed to be the best thing in the world. Within moments he was at the meeting point and relieved of his mission. All that remained now was some rest and relaxation until his next mission comes up.

Mission Name: Thief in the village.
Rank: D
Type: Capture
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 300 words
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 400 ryo.
Task: Multiple villagers have reported their
belongings stolen. Multiple villagers had reported being a target of a thief,
mostly at the same time. Your job is to find the thief, or thieves and capture
them.
A few days had passed since Kankuro had last done his guard duties and multiple villagers had been victim of a theft. Making sure to take as much information from the villagers as possible, Kankuro was able to find a pattern in the way this mystery thief was making his robberies. He had been following a trail that seemed to strike a different house in each part of the town in the same pattern. Studying this pattern, Kankuro was able to figure out which home the thief was to strike next. All the young ninja had to do next was simply lay in wait for the burglar. The trap was set and now all that remain was its prey.
The waiting part was what Kankuro hated the most of his missions. He’d been ready for an attack for over an hour and a half now, since about the time the sun went down, and no one had entered the house. He began to wonder if perhaps he was in the wrong house. The thought of failure near snuck up upon Kankuro when the sound of a battling window caught his attention. Turning his gaze towards the window, he watched as a man dressed in all black and carrying a large brown woven sack over his right shoulder and a mask covering half his face enter through the window. It seemed Kankuro had chosen the right house to set his trap after all.
Leaping from his hiding space in the shadows of the rafters, the young ninja landed a few feet from the thief as he began his plunder. “Who are you?!” the robber cried out.
Without a single word, Kankuro leapt from his spot and swung at the masked man. Dropping the sack he carried, the man ducked backwards, avoiding Kankuro’s right jab, and swings his left leg towards the boy’s ribs. Taking the kick, Kankuro slams his right arm down, clamping the man’s leg against his body, and slammed his left fist into the thief’s chest. The man’s body crashed hard against the ground after feeling the young ninja’s punch. Letting the man’s leg go, the boy kneeled over the fallen burglar. He pulled down the man’s mask, but didn’t recognize the face behind it. Forming a grin, the man let out a faint laugh and spoke. “You may have gotten me, but there are still more of us out there,” he said softly before finally passing out. With the thief’s words a mystery, Kankuro brought the man back for interigation, as instructed to. Another mission was in the bag.
