Just another boring school day [open, nk]

Itami hopped out of bed and headed downstairs to the kitchen, still in his pijamas. Walking down the stairs, he tried combing his hair with his fingers but gave up upon entering the kitchen. His hair was untameable especially in the mornings. He grabbed a lemon, cut it in half and squeezed both halves into a glass. Adding water and honey, he mixed it all with a spoon and went back up to his room. He put the glass on his desk, stripped off his pijamas and went to brush his teeth and take a shower.
When he was fully cleaned up, he returned to his room and pulled a white shirt out of the closet. He drank half of his lemonade and then fished two kunais out of the drawer. He grabbed his pants from the floor and put them on, adding the weapon holder. He finished his lemonade and went downstairs to retrieve his jacket and the shuriken he left on the kitchen table. The house was silent. His father has already left for work.
Itami locked the door and put the keys in his jacket pocket. He slowly headed down the street, softly humming to himself. The sky was a bit cloudy and he could see a storm heading this way. It was still pretty far away though. Everything seemed still, awaiting the storm to come. Not a single leaf was ruffled for there was no wind. Itami felt anxious and he sped up a little, slowly nearing the Hokage mountain. When he arrived at the academy, he felt better. Although he usually hated crowds, he embraced the distraction from his thoughts. He entered the building and headed for his first class.
He was right on time. Looking around, he noticed most of his fellow classmates have already arrived. Itami sat down on his usual spot, next to a boy of brown hair and an empty chair. He didn’t bring a notebook because he preferred memorizing the lectures, training his memory as well as adding to his knowledge. If he ever needed notes, he borrowed them as his classmates were usually nice enough to help him out.
The sensei arrived and took attendance. A few latecomers hurried to their seats and class began. The sensei began to speak of what it ment to be a true shinobi. Itami listened intently and ignored the students who didn’t care about the lesson and rather gossiped quietly in the back.
“Can anyone tell me a few shinobi rules?' the sensei asked and waited for students to raise their arms. »Itami, go ahead« he nodded towards him.
Itami cleared his throat and recited: »A shinobi must always put the mission first, A shinobi must never show emotion, A shinobi must see the hidden meanings within the hidden meanings, A shinobi must never question their commander, A shinobi must prepare before it is too late to, A ninja must never show any weakness. Those are just a few among many of the shinobi rules.”
The sensei smiled and said: “Correct. Can anyone tell me five more?«
A girl two rows before him was chosen to speak and she correctly recited another five of the rules.
The sensei nooded approvingly and dove into another half hour of lessons on shinobi rules and what they meant.

When class was over Itami headed outside to get some fresh air. His next lesson was to begin in fifteen minutes and he didn't want to spend his break time waiting in the lone quiet classroom. He headed toward the swing outside the school but found it occupied.

When the break was finished Itami went back inside the academy building and found his next classroom. The sensei was already there, standing infront of the blackboard, drawing something on it. Itami went to his seat and waited for the sensei to start talking.
"Alright students, today we will continue with our lessons on chakra." the sensei said loudly. The kid sitting in front of Itami jerked up, waking up from his break nap. Everybody laughed.
The sensei continued: "Most ninja have a natural affinity to one type of chakra, but they have the capacity to create elemental chakra apart from their own affinity. There are five basic types, each stronger and weaker to another, but their relations, weaknesses, and strengths to each other are all explored." He pointed to the blackboard which was showing a diagram on how certain affinities affect the others. Itami stared at it for a while, trying to remember and grasp what the sensei was saying. He knew his affinity was wind, his father told him so. He wondered what the percentage for which affinity was, in Konoha. He considered asking the sensei but then decided against it. He wasn't in the mood to talk. He rested his head on his arms and listened till the lesson was over. He was getting sleepy and bored ...

Mezurashii rushed to class, throwing open the door and bowed quickly to the teacher.

"Sorry I'm late sensei!" she said, the class snickered but she kept her eyes on her teacher, he didn't seem happy but he never was.

"That's fine I suppose, I was just explaining chakra and affinities, do you know your affinity?" he asked and Mezurashii nodded slightly. She already knew where this was going.

"Wind, sir" she said calmly, he nodded and he presented her with a leaf. Briefly she wondered where he got it but just passed it off as a ninja thing.

"Please use your wind chakra to cut this leaf, if you can" he asked and Mezurashii could practically see the arrogance rolling off him, he was a teacher and he thought he could practically insult her. Nodding she took the leaf and faced the class, a few seconds later the leaf split, causing almost everyone to gasp and murmur.

"H-how?" sensei sputtered and I smiled at him in a way that wasn't impolite... it just wasn't kind either.

"Papa made me do these exercises as soon as he discovered my element was wind" she explained, putting the leaf in the teachers hand and moved to take my seat near the back.

Itami barely noticed the commotion going on, when a late student arrived. The only thing he noticed was that the girl entering, was the one he met in taijutsu class. The sensei seemed mad but the whole thing didn't amuse Itami enough to listen to what was going on. He put his head back on his arms and closed his eyes for a tiny bit.
Gasps and murmurs startled him though so he lifted his head again to look at what was happening. He saw the split leaf in the girl's hand and raised his eyebrows. Impressive, for an academy student. Though he knew the girl was one of the oldest among the students so it was natural she was a bit better at things. He himself hadn't yet mastered this but he was way younger than the red head. He reckoned she was about 15 or 16 ... Way older than him. he had time to learn how to control his element better.
He was planning on becoming a genin at the next graduation. He was sure he was going to pass. And then he could learn more about the wind affinity.
After the girl sat down, somewhere behind him, in the rows in the back, Itami put his head back on his arms and waited for the lesson to be finished.
When the time was up, everyone started moving towards the door to head to the next lesson. Itami got up and walked down. He picked up one of the leaves that were on the sensei's desk and closed his fist around it. Maybe he could practice what the girl did in the next lesson, if it was boring enough for him not to listen. Maybe he'll even ask the girl for some advice ...For now, he simply put it in his pocket and headed out the door.

Mezurashii didn't really know what to think about that white haired boy, he seemed to bored with almost everything but... perhaps he had a wind affinity like her, that would explain why he took the leaf.

Maybe he would let her show him, he seemed bright and hopefully was patient enough to learn it. After all, it took her months to get it right to the point that she didn't even need to focus.

"Still, he seems nice enough. That white haired boy will make a strong ninja if he passes the exam" she smiled to herself before shrugging and running home, she wondered if papa knew if there were any clans that had white hair.

As Itami was waiting for his next lesson, he noticed the red haired girl left. She was probably done with school for the day. He himself only had one lesson left and then he was free to leave. He contemplated going to eat at the Ichiraku's but changed his mind. He decided to eat at home and maybe have one of those lazy days after, when he only trained a little bit on his rooftop or in his room. He didn't feel like going to the training grounds or the forest. Today was just one of those days.
When the lesson started, he barely listened and even fell asleep for a couple of minutes. The teacher was repeating himself again and Itami didn't mind if he missed what he was saying. He knew all that already.
When the lesson was done, he sighed happily and headed home. A warm lunch was waiting for him and then maybe he could organize his notes and train the basic academy jutsus.
