Run fast

Bored, Itami moved silently through the house, like a ghost, with nothing to do. Today was one of those days when he didn't feel like doing anything plus he had no missions or team meetings. He yawned and walked to the kitchen sullenly, opening the cupboard but finding nothing good to eat, so he closed it again and sighed. What a ridiculously boring day. The sky outside was dull and gray, the air pressure dragged down and above all, the lamp outside Itami's house was broken so the street looked dreary and dark, in the evening dusk.
Annoyed with himself, Itami dragged himself upstairs again and forced himself to change out of his comfortable home clothes to those more fit for training. He wasn't going to waste the whole day away, he decided. Making himself train when he felt the least like it, was good for his will power and he mentally congratulated himself as he slammed the front door shut.
The outside chill cut to the bone and he tugged on his jacket's sleeves to cover his hands. He literally saw his warm breath as it came out in white puffs. His cheeks turned red from the cold and he sped up a little to warm up. Passing the vegetable stand which was covered now, he fell into a light jogg, but the cold was still strong and the jogg soon turned into a run. His stiff joints ached after two days of lazing around the house, and his lungs burned but after a while, he got used to running again and his breathing got even. He felt better, less stressed and more in control of everything. Exercise really was the best medicine for depression and other dark feelings like that. He noted to always go out to train when he was feeling useless and sad.
He ran faster now, his body adjusting again to training. He skipped over a large rock and turned a corner. He was nearing the academy. The training grounds that he passed seemed deserted but for a lone figure, mercilessly training in the cold, with a dummy. Itami went by without stoppingm but turned his head to watch for a few seconds that the person was in his view. A moment later he was past and he continued down the path.
He ran fast and he ran persistantly without breaks or shortcuts. He ran so far and so fast he soon reached the outer parts of the village and turned so he was running in a curve, planning on running around the village. He didn't see many people out at this hour or weather. No familiar faces appeared, just random villagers.
He wondered what his friends and aquintances were doing. He wondered whether the Hokage was in his office, doing his own share of work to ensure the village its safety. He wondered what kind of missions the ninja of Konoha were currently on and he wondered what his current and previous sensei were bussy with at the moment. He didn't doubt most of them worked hard, just like him who went trained and ran as best he could.
Observing the surroundings that passed him by in a half blur, Itami finally reached his house again. He stopped and stretched and then jumped up on the thick fence, and then puched himself up on the roof.
His window was open and he climbed in cautiously, making sure to close it then, and lock it to make sure no one else could enter and that the cold would stay outside.
Itami closed his eyes momentarily, and only focused on is breathing. When it got slow and steady and he calmed down after his exercise, he opened his eyes again. He stripped and threw the sweaty clothes in the wash basket, and entered the bathroom to take a shower. Despite the whole day of doing nothing, he felt okay. The run really helped and he would be able to fall asleep now, pleasantly tired but nowhere near exhaustion.
