Training in the Guardia Dojo[p.nk]
Mon Mar 18, 2013 6:22 am
Stepping out of his house, Crono smiled. His hand resting on his Katana it just felt right. The previous night's celebratory festivities had given him quite a release of the pressure he had been feeling over the last few weeks. Later he would meet his team and his new sensei for some team training, but he still had his own preporations that he needed to complete. The district was all cleaned up, different clansmen were going about their buisness walking to and fro around the square. Leading with his left foot he began to walk across the square to the Dojo, and the training grounds behind it. Crono passed by Onimaru's shop and could bearly make out the bulk elderly man already hard at work on another blade.
As he stepped up the steps of the Dojo, he bowed respectivly to one of the clanman at the entrance. He could see his former teacher meditating on the far side of the room. respecting his training, crono quietly passed across the room and walked around to the back of the school. The training grounds were quite extensive, along the 4 walls were multiple automated training dummies, wooden bokens leaning against the wall near each one. in the center of the grounds were a large marble arena that was raised up the ground by 4 feet. It was fifty feet wide and long, and the surface while smooth, was not slick nor sticky, but provided a nice even surface on which to fight. behind a gate on the north side of the grounds was a small archery range, with house arrows and a worn bow to help teach apprentices timing and patience.
Crono smiled as he walked up the beveled steps leading upto the central arena before heading to the center of the platform. It was a nice morning, the dew was just starting to dry up and gave the wind a small bite when it brushed against the skin. Crono's head bowed down as he let his muscles relax. In an instant his eyes opened, his musccles tensed up. his right foot fell back while his left bent at the knee. His right hand griped the top of the saya and his left gripped the hilt. In a swift flash the blade was drawn from its sheeth, Crono's left arm held out at an angle almost completly inverse of its sheethe, his hand quickly drew the hilt of the blade back near his right ear, his right hand coming up and grabing the end of the hilt for support. the blade was at a flat angle across his eyes. its mirrored edge giving him a view of objects behind him. while above the blade, he could see objects ahead of him. raising his arms above his head he drew the sword downward initiating a hard slice before flipping the blade into a reverse grip and slashing back upwards. His hand releacing the blade into the air causing it to spin above him. his left hand resting behind his back as the blade fell behind him, caught the hilt as he swung the blade in front of him delivering a heavy horizontal slash across him. Crono began to lose himself as he continued the kata, his body went through the motions even though he himself didnt need to think about them. His muscles reacting on instinct and reflex flowing from one motion into the other. To Crono this was less of a fight and more of a dance with his sword being his partner. Turning around he delivered one final slash across the X-axis slicing a coconut that was tossed at him and splitting it in half, causing the two halfs to echo hollowly as they hit the marble.
"Sensei" Crono exclamed as he realized what had happened and dropped down to his knees, his head touching the marble in respect. The Elder Samurai walked to the edge of the arena and smiled. "You've gotten pretty good." his master's words calm and approving. Crono raised his head but continued to kneel, he drew his blade across its saya and returned it to rest. "Thanks to you Sensei". "And so humble... Crono I did naught but give you the tools to build a house, you are the one who made it a mansion" he paused a moment. "And I can forsee you're only beginning to tap your potential. But, I am keeping you from your training to I shall take my leave.". Crono bowed once again, "Thank you Sensei" he said as his former teacher returned inside the Dojo. he felt a brillent sense of pride from all the support he had been given over the last few days. I would need to make sure to honor that responcibility and not let his clan down.
Arising back up, Crono fell forward, his hands catching him in his fall, his elbows bending to absorb the shock before springing up and down as he began to do pushups. he could feel the ache as he neared 50. His battojutsu training had made him fast, but his muscles could use some building up. The wind whistled across some windchimes hung on the patio, their hollow echo reverberating in the air in a soothing baratone. A messenger hawk made a cry through the air. Crono's breathing became slightly labored as he pushed his knees below him and sat down for a minute before jumping to his feet and leaping down off the arena. A dirt trail ran around the edges of the arena and crono began to start running laps around the arena. small patches of dust kicking up with every step. Crono focused on his breathing. his left hand held out ahead of him, his right securing the top of his hilt. his body leaning forward as he ran. Slowing down Crono slowed to a walk and placed his hands above his head, allowing the blood to flow downwards to his heart. After a few minutes Crono walked back up the platform and sat down in the center of the arena, his headband now moist from absorbing the sweat from his brow.
Crono brought his hands to his knees, palm up. index and pinky finger extended out. ring and middle finger bent inwards touching the knuckle of the thumb. Crono began to focus inward. he had already worked his body, now it was time to stretch his mind and focus his chakra. Taking long and deep breaths he closed his eyes and began to clear his mind. listening to the sounds he blocked from his hearing while working out. the small churping of the crickets on the other side of the fence, the sound of a shopkeeper's broom as it pushes the grains of dust from his porch. The wind chimes blowing in the wind. the soft smell of freshness in the air. The movement of each hair on his arm as the wind blew them apart and dried them from sweat. the gentle pulsing of his own heart. And then, it was all quiet. no more thoughts entered his mind, it was at peace. He was not awake, yet he was not asleep. nothingness expanded everywhere while nothing filled it. Crono's breathing was slow and quiet, his heart followed suit. His musccles relaxed and his body suddenly became enguifed in a light blue aura of chakra. Both of his mental and physical energy had reached their opus and blended into a perfect mix.
After about 45 minutes the blue aura covering Crono began to disapate slowly until it was gone. slowly but smoothly crono opened his eyes. He smiled softly as he always did after meditating. His body and mind both felt refreshed and rejuvinated. For these brief moments, he no longer had any troubles, worries, or pressure all of them were lifted off of his shoulders. he felt clear, consice and focused. With a deep breath his hands relaxed, pressing up on them he arose from the ground and began resecuring himself. making sure anything that was shaken loose from the training was reattached properly. Looking up Crono could see the sun high in the sky making a vain attempt to hide behind a cloud. It was almost noon, his team would be meeting soon, and this time he would be ready for them. Leading with his left foot Crono walked down off of the platform and back through the dojo, paying respects to his master as he departed heading toward the meeting spot, to meet with the rest of his team.
