Tanran's Genin Exam
Tue May 21, 2013 3:20 pm
Today was like any other day. Tanran woke up early, did a quick regiment of physical exercise which was followed by meditation. After this he headed to the kitchen for breakfast where he met his father. While eating he was told that he had finally been signed up for the Genin exam. This overjoyed Tanran as he had wished for this moment for quite some time now and had been training hard for it. After finishing breakfast, he made his way down to the Ninja Academy to take his exam. Upon arrival he waited at the front desk for further instruction.

The proctor enters the room, looking around at the students who would be taking the exam. There were quite a few, he wondered how many of them would pass the test and become official Genin of the village. The young man held a clipboard in his hand as he walked towards the front of the room. He glanced down at it, looking over the names of all of the students taking the test and wondering who he should pick first.
"Tanran, you shall be first. Come over here and perform the Henge No Jutsu and the Bunshin No Jutsu. If you succeed you pass and become a Genin of the Village, good luck!"

Through further instruction, Tanran was directed to a room full of other Academy Students, wishing to become Genin like himself. There were many who varied in appearance. Young, old, skinny, fat, short, tall and more. He knew that would not all make it, but he would not fall to that majority. Maybe they needed more training, maybe they did not possess basic skill or maybe they did not come from a family of skilled shinobi, Tanran was unsure of this. As the test proctor entered the room, a Kumogakure Chuunin, Tanran stood at attention. He was easily spotted as he carried a clipboard and was heading for the front of the classroom. When he came to a stop at the front of the classroom facing all of the Academy Students, he glanced down at his clipboard, most likely to choose the first student to take the exam. To his surprise, the proctor said "Tanran, you shall be first. Come over here and perform the Henge No Jutsu and the Bunshin No Jutsu. If you succeed you pass and become a Genin of the Village, good luck!" As soon as he heard this, Tanran glanced up at the proctor. He then proceeded to fix his coat and push his sunglasses up, from his nose to eyes. When arriving at the front of the class room next to the proctor, he took another look at all the other Academy Students, noticing the anxiety in their faces. This gave him an even greater will to succeed, as he was as calm before the storm.
Which jutsu to perform first was the first question in Tanran's head. The next was how he would perform, but that was not a major issue due to his recent chakra control training with his very skilled father. They had not worked on these skills directly, but he had doubled his amount of chakra control since when he had began training. Tanran decided to perform Henge no Jutsu, or the Transformation Technique first. This jutsu is usually used to change into someone or something other than oneself. It requires a constant emission of chakra while mentally maintaining the form, so it is one of the more difficult techniques for the inexperienced shinobi. The person to change into today was the exam proctor, so this is the form he was to keep in his head. After creating a mental picture of the Kumogakure Chuunin that was proctoring, Tanran formed the ram hand seal and proclaimed "Henge no Jutsu". With a large puff of smoke, the other students stared in awe. When the smoke cleared, a perfect copy of the proctor was left, with Tanran no where to be found. That means that the technique was a success, and that he had passed the first part of the exam, which was followed by an eruption of clapping from the other students. Before releasing his chakra from this form, he peered out the window of the class room only to notice the usual weather of Kumogakure, cloudy, who would have figured?
After releasing his chakra and returning to his own form, Tanran was to perform Bunshin no Jutsu, or the Clone Technique. This is a ninjutsu that creates a copy of one's own body, without substance, unlike his father's earth, lightning and carbon clone techniques. The clone created does not have the ability to attack and is destroyed upon impact with any substance, so it may only be used as a decoy. Doujutsu that can see chakra can tell these clones apart easily. His father's elemental clones have equal chakra and can attack and disperse after some contact with objects. Clear minded, Tanran prepared to perform this jutsu. He then performed the tiger, boar, ox and dog hand seals all in a row, all those required for the Clone Technique. As soon as he finished these he exclaimed "Bunshin no Jutsu". Slowly, but surely, a light figure appeared. In another second, a complete clone of Tanran stood next to him. The perfection of physical attributes was a masterpiece. His hair, clothing, teeth, glasses and muscles were exact down to the last seam. Like his performance with the Transformation Technique, he had been spot on, which could have only meant he passed. Yet again he took a look out the class room window, maybe for good luck? Who knows. One thing he knew for sure was that the weather was unchanging as he had foreseen, cloudy, like every other day.
After quickly speaking with the proctor, Tanran exited the Ninja Academy and began his walk home. On the way he thought of how he must have passed the exam and became an official Genin of Kumogakure, something his father would be very proud of. A celebration would definitely be held if positive news was related, including a large feast with the rest of the Keitoku clan, something Tanran was very much looking forward to.
