Training Wood Release
Tue Jul 02, 2013 1:01 pm
Inijo was in his home, sitting on his couch, waiting. On the coffee table in front of him there was a book-like object. It had a hard cover, and many pages. Inside held three chapters, the typical amount contained in one of these types of books. This book was known as a manga, something he had often read. He sighed. Having recently been kicked off his genin squad, he had grown lazy. Having no inspiration to train, no goals in life. He needed to think about why he was kicked off, and what to do to improve himself. He constantly figured there was something else blocking him or preventing him from training seriously, however he knew he was simply being lazy. He had blamed his unsuccessful training sessions on the fact that he lacked a goal. Which was true, in a way. It wasn't preventing him from training successfully or correctly, however he did in fact lack one. He wasn't going to go getting one just for the sake of his training, no. Goals are really something which one can pour their lives into. He didn't want to do that just for power. Of course.. it would be helpful.
He sighed, beginning to think of his past. Back when he had his father to aid him in training. His father constantly aided Inijo in learning the art of Wood release, however Inijo had failed each time. He hadn't exactly learned how to use it. His father kept saying that Inijo would need to work harder for it, before making another attempt, and saying that he didn't yet meet the requirements. He had earth release, though his father mentioned needing the nature release of water, and then merging the two for earth release. He sighed. He wanted to begin training wood release now. He had a goal. To master the art of a Senju. It wouldn't take him his whole life, only a few years, and with luck not even that long.
He sighed. Though where to begin? He wondered. He stood up and began to stretch, as he began to consider the possibilities of where to begin his Mokuton release training. He began to think.. perhaps it would be better to make some breakfast first. Most important meal of the day, after all.
He headed for his kitchen, which was right next to his living room. The only thing separating the two was the counter, even that didn't go all the way. There was a small opening between two counters, the size of another counter block. This was large enough for mainly any fairly sized human being to get in and prepare their meals. The counter-tops were tiled with small squares. The floor is quite similar, in color and patterns, however the size is quite different. The tiles on the floor were much larger than the tiled on the counter tops. The material was different as well. He was sure the tile he could step on, on the floor was made of plastic or something, while the counter top's tiles were made of much more fragile materials. On the wall away from the living room, there were cabinets which hung from the wall and the ceiling. He opened the door to them and pulled out a large flat pan. He then went to his fridge, and pulled out a pack of frozen biscuit doe. He cut up a bit of it and places it on the pan, then put it in his oven. He was letting them bake so that he could eat them. This would take a while, however, so he had time to think about how he would go about beginning his wood release training. He could always start with the basics, performing a Mokuton technique, however, he had no idea on how to do that. He began to remember the fact that his father had told him to wait a while, to learn water release before he learned to learn wood release.. He realized his training time had just increased.
He sighed. Not wanting to go through the steps to obtain the unique knowledge of his kekkei genkai. Though, unfortunately, there were no short cuts. No special path to guide him to the train to success. No, instead he had to walk the full distance. Of course it would be a tiring journey, however he couldn't afford to slack off on it should he want to reach his goal. His goal to obtain his kekkei genkai.
He sighed, as the ding of his oven rang. It was simple, lasting no more than a second. It was a single ding, signalling that his biscuits had finished baking. He stood up, as he was originally sitting on his couch to think. He normally does this, finding a nice place to sit right after putting something in his oven to bake, or cook, as he began to think on what to do after his meal. It often allowed for him to plan things before making attempts at them, and if he didn't finish he could always finish as he ate, though generally that ruined the meal, focusing on something else rather than enjoying the meal. It was his own opinion, though. Perhaps other's preferred to consider things as they ate, but when Inijo does it, he just can't taste the flavor, and can only focus on what he is thinking of. Of course, he would have to focus on his water release training before attempting his wood release training... and of course, he needed to think of how... and of course... that meant he would need to focus on something other than enjoying his nice, fresh, meal. He sighed, as he put three of five biscuits on a plate. He didn't know the material of the plate, it was hard though, and quite similar to that of his tiles on the counter-top. He walked over to the opposite side of his kitchen, leaving his plate on the counter next to the turned off oven.
He walked over to a drawer, which he pulled open by gripping onto the black handle sticking off of it. It was screwed in, and was finely designed to match all of the other drawers. On the inside there was a set of silverware, finely put into a small plastic container which separated each set. He had spoons in one area, forks in another, and finally knives. Of course he kept his butter knives and other knives separate. He pulled out a nice butter-knife, cleaned quite recently, to be exact yesterday, when he had finished putting away his dishes. He shut his drawer after he pulled out the butter knife with his other hand. He then went to his fridge, where he pulled out a completely wrapped butter stick. He had yet to actually unwrap this one, as he doesn't often use butter, unless he makes a fancy, or quick, meal such as this one today. It wasn't necessarily fancy, however it could be with a little work. Add some gravy with sausage and you got yourself biscuits and gravy. But he wanted to get a head start on his training, especially now that he had a goal. He wanted to become the perfect user of Mokuton, after all, he needed to focus for that.
He took the butter and the butter knife and placed them on the counter top, next to his plate. He then began to slowly unwrap the butter stick. He was moving slowly as to possibly avoid dropping it, he never had got the hang of unwrapping this thing, after all. After it was unwrapped it sat on the wrapper that used to contain it. He took the butter knife and began to cut downwards, from the top of the butter. It was easy, as if putting a knife in butter. In fact, it was putting a knife in butter. Which was slowly melting due to the heat of his house. He sped up. He opened up all the pieces of biscuit, splitting them in half. He should have done this at first, sadly though he hadn't thought about it in time. He then quickly moved the knife and slid it over the top piece of biscuit. He watched as it rapidly turned into liquid form, and into a light golden color. T'was amazing, the work of chemistry. He continued to repeat for the other two biscuits. He then places the top bun on top of each of the bottom parts of the biscuits. He then began to rewrap the stick of butter, and rush it over to the fridge before it would melt. He placed it in, and closed the door, allowing it to not melt. He then walked back over and picked his plate up.
Inijo began to move towards his couch, where he normally ate. He placed the plate on the coffee table next to him, and he laid down on the couch, feet placed towards his television, head resting against the arm of the couch. He reached over with his left hand, and grabbed a single biscuit. He moved it towards his mouth, where he took a bite in the nice, soft bread. Steam arose from the small area where Inijo had bit from, and rose towards the ceiling. It was small in amount, and soon stopped. He continued to feast, enjoying the first biscuit's flavor. The warm bread, and the heated butter tasted well together, which was probably why people bothered buttering bread.
He sighed when he finished it. He had enjoyed his first bit of the meal, however sadly he needed to focus on his training for the rest of his meal. He began to think as he began to eat. He was attempting to remember how he had obtained earth release.. he had remembered it was during his academy days, though he couldn't exactly remember which lesson it was when he first had obtained Earth Release.
He remembered being surrounded by friends and those he is neutral towards, despite any difference in their opinion towards him. He had few friends back then, but that wasn't necessarily the point to what he was remembering. He remembered his sensei walking in, a male, nearly in his thirties, quite the age for a shinobi. He had blonde hair, and it was folded down in his face, nearly to his eyes. "Alright, let's begin the test." Inijo remembered him saying. He began to remember that his sensei had told them the day before that they would be given a test, though strangely the sensei hadn't mentioned what over. Everyone was confused, especially Inijo, who now had to study over mostly everything he was taught to ensure that he would pass this test. Which he did, of course. He mainly thought the test was over some jutsu they were taught, such as the Bushin jutsu, an academy leveled technique which focused on primarily confusing the opponent in battle. It was low ranking due to the fact it had no use in physical combat, and could easily be detected. He had been taught that the bushin no jutsu had no ability when it came to using jutsu, they couldn't even use an E ranking technique. Not only that, but they were illusions, thus he had been told that they do not have shadows. This made it rather easy to detect them, of course, should you know where to look. Another jutsu was the replacement technique, one which replaced the user with an object of their choosing, mainly this is done with the every day log. This jutsu was also designed for confusion, however also letting in a little bit of deception. Often user's can make the target think their attack was successful, thus they would go off to whatever they think is needed, or etc. Then finally there was the transformation technique, this was mainly the most useful in the mind of Inijo, as it allowed for the user to transform into other people or objects. The one thing wrong with this technique was that it didn't hide one's chakra signature, thus this allowed for sensors to quickly note an impostor or locate someone using this technique to hide. He sighed, he had these techniques pretty much memorized so he didn't need to worry about it.
Inijo remembered watching with impatience as the sensei began to pass out a piece of paper to every student. He tried to remember everything he had studied for the test, though often it came a blank in his mind. When he had finally gotten the test, he stared at it weirdly, and looked at his sensei who had a smile on his face since he began to pass the tests out. When everyone in the class had obtained one, sensei had begun to speak. "Right, now pick up the piece of paper and hold it in your hand with two fingers." He said, and so Inijo did. "Now focus your chakra into it." Sensei continued. So Inijo did. It was strange, the way the paper reacted. He simply dropped it as mud had seemingly grown on it. He checked his friends, whose was burning. He remembered watching his friend attempt to put out the piece of paper. "Now, to explain the test. This test was made for you all to learn something called a nature release." Sensei said. Inijo was somewhat bored with this already, though interest had just begun to show. "How the paper reacted depends on your nature release. If your paper burnt, then you possess the nature release of Fire. Fire release. If it began to crumble, you have the nature release of Lightning. Lightning release. If it's soaked, then you have the nature release of water. Water release. If it's cut, then you have the nature release of Wind. Wind release. And if it fell apart, you have the nature release of earth. Earth release. These elements can help you and aid you strategically in battle, by using elemental jutsu." The sensei said, and began to demonstrate by blowing a C ranking fire ball out. Most were amazed, Inijo wasn't. Sure he hadn't known about all the techncial bit about elements, but he knew that elemental jutsu could be used.
Inijo he just finished his biscuits, when he had remembered how to train for nature releases. All he had to do was make paper wet through the user of chakra.. sounds easier than it actually is, typically, everything does. He sighed, and decided to get up and go get some of that special chakra paper which is used for the training.. or perhaps he could use normal paper. Least he had a bit of the normal paper, anyways. He went to his room, where he had some paper at.
Inijo opened a drawer to his nightstand which rested next to his bed. On top of the nightstand there was a small lamp, which could be turned on by a small string like chain which can be pulled to turn on the light bulb. He pulled three sheets of paper from the drawer. He figured this would be all he needed. He also figured this would be slightly easier for him than most due to the fact that he was born with the capabilities of wood release, so he naturally would obtain water release by making his own attempts. He sighed, knowing he was only hoping.
He went back to his living room, where he placed the three pieces of paper on the coffee stand next to him. He sighed, and picked up a single piece of paper. He placed it between two fingers, and began to focus his chakra in it. He was concentrating, due to this paper not being the one he originally used to check for his nature release, it would be a bit longer. He continued to concentrate, soon enough, it began to crumble up, signalling to the user that he had earth release. Not what Inijo wanted, so he made a second attempt. He placed another sheet of paper in between his fingers and began to concentrate his chakra. He focused, as once again it took a few seconds due to not being the right type of paper. He continued to focus, when it finished it was wet. Perfect. This took less time than he had figured.. He took the third sheet of paper, wondering..
He wanted to be sure that he had obtained water release and that the last attempt wasn't a simple fluke. He began to focus his chakra into the paper. He was considering all the things he could do with water release. There were many opportunities indeed. Earth release.. it is capable of killing through crushing it's targets and allies alike, water release is capable of drowning them.. What was Wood Release able to do? Was a mystery he had yet to learn. According to what Inijo had learned from his father, wood release creates life. He wasn't exactly sure how it caused death, how it killed opponents. But the fun part was learning how. Inijo knew elements had more capabilities than just killing people, but he mainly focused on that, as there was no need for other things in combat unless for tactical warfare, which Inijo didn't do commonly. Then again he doesn't get into much fights, so he doesn't have to kill or use tactical warfare.
He sighed, beginning to remember a time when he did once use earth release tactically. It was when he was still on his old genin squad, against an opponent he often referred to as Arashi. He used the Hiding Like a Mole technique and went below the surface of the earth, and then, while underneath Arashi, he had performed hand seals and used his Head Hunting technique. Both were used for tactics, but he only used them due to his lacking in more combative jutsu. His head hunting jutsu went by a few different names, however he had preferred to call it his head hunting jutsu. With it, the user can conceal themselves within the surface below, and when the opponent is near enough, grab their ankles. The user would then successfully pull them underneath the ground, leaving only their head above the ground. Due to this, the target requires extreme strength and stamina to escape from the ground, but all is in vein due to the fact that the user is right next to him, ready to either execute or extract any necessary information. This technique is mainly used for the extraction of information, anyways, and not mainly for combat, however this often can be used to trap an opponent one does not wish to kill, allowing the user to leave them trapped until someone comes for them and aids them in escaping, usually the allies of the user's capture group, or until an ally of theirs comes and aids them out, or until the targets die without enough strength to escape. This is why Inijo had trained for this technique rather than anything. As well as the Hidden Mole technique. The two together can be a dangerous combination against a single opponent who's not smart enough to know what's going on. He began to continue thinking, and with a smile, he realized the epic combination he had before him. Water release, earth release, and wood release. All three could be used tactically.
He continued grinning, and soon took notice of the paper. It had told Inijo that he had water release again. It is official now, he had obtained water release. He grinned, and decided to head out. What with his success in training for water release. Now all that remained was wood release... and it was nearly noon. He began to wonder... what would he do now? What with it being noon, he certainly had some time to at least begin his training for wood release. He began to think.. maybe it would be better to do it elsewhere, he had heard wood release can cause trees to grow.. Didn't want none of that in his home.. But where too Inijo though... perhaps some random cliff? That would do that would do. Or maybe simply go to the training area... would present a challenge for other's due to new terrain should Wood Release actually go out of control. He doubted it would, however. What with having little control over it as is, he can barely summon any wood for combat.
He sighed, simply agreeing to go to some random cliff should any accidents happen. But first, to get dressed. He stood up, having been sitting with one leg folded over another on the floor, one of his legs were asleep. This presented trouble for Inijo when he walked. He was limping as he walked, leaning over to one side whenever he stepped down on his left foot, nearly falling over if it weren't for his right. However his troubles quickly resolved, and he managed to move on normally. He walked down his short hallway towards his bedroom, which was to the right upon entering. On the other side there was a small bathroom, and a small closet right outside of it. There could be put towels, shampoo, and other bathing material. Of course he had a closet in his room for other things, such as clothing. He was heading to his bedroom's closet.
He was going to get dressed due to him wearing his pajamas, or what he refers to as sleeping clothing. He was wearing a white T-shirt, and black sweat pants. He was also missing his head band, which told people he was a shinobi of Kumogakure. He had earned that a long time ago, though he couldn't really remember how long ago. He always figured somewhere in the range of three years, but meh. He had been happy as a shinobi ever since.
He opened the sliding door to his closet. In side there was a variety of clothing, from various colors to styles. He pulled out a black T-shirt, and black pants which closely resembled jeans. He then pulled out a small pouch which held two chop sticks. These were quite special chop sticks, capable of piercing through most things. This made them quite dangerous, and could be used as weapons as well as silverware. Often they may be underestimated due to the fact that they are chop sticks.. this makes them all the more deadly..
He put his pants and shirt, as well as the pouch on his bed. He then beginning to undress, stripping off his current clothing all but his underwear, then he picked up his black jean-like pants and put them on. They could have a belt, however he had no need for it. He then grabbed his shirt, and began to slide into it. He stuck his arm through one of the sleeves, and his head through the neck hole thing, and then followed by putting his other arm in his other sleeve. He then grabbed his shoes from inside his closet. They were open toed, something he saw common among most shinobi. At least, it was what he had seen them wearing.. He wrapped the pouch around his leg, tightening it to where it wouldn't fall off or slip down. The pouch had protected his leg from being cut or pierced by his own special chop sticks. He closed his sliding door to his closet, and began to walk over to his nightstand. On top of it, right underneath the shade of his lamp, was his head band. The color of the cloth was dark blue, and there was a small silver plate in the center of the hand band, which was made to cover over the user's forehead. On the silver plating, there was a symbol. A very important symbol, actually. This was the symbol of Kumogakure. Kumogakure's village symbol, which told other shinobi and citizens alike that Inijo was a shinobi of Kumogakure. He put it on. The forehead being covered up by the metal plating, there was cloth in between his forehead and the plating, however. He then tied the two ends together, making it into a knot. With a grin, he noticed that he was ready to head out.
He began to walk to his front door, wondering where was a nice place to train.. There were a lot of possibilities on where to train... He had already decided on a cliff, but the decision itself was vague.. which cliff would he be training on? How close to the village will he be? Questions which needed to be answered... If he was injured, he didn't want to make a trip back for medical attention, so he should probably stay close to Kumogakure.. then again.. no, close to Kumogakure. Now, he could find a cliff outside of the village easily.
Inijo walked along a platform, as he felt a cool breeze. The wind was moving calmly, despite Kumogakure being so high up in the air. He had always figured the wind should rage more up here, however it;s just as calm as it would be down on the ground. The sun was shining bright in the sky, too, which warmed Inijo off from the slightly cool winds. When he looked up he took note of the few clouds in the air. One just began to block out the sun. The wind had blown the cloud into blocking it. The cloud was rather large, capable of blocking out the sun and then some.
He continued to walk against the breeze, figuring it would be wise to train towards the opposite direction the wind was blowing. This being so that he doesn't fall off the cliff he would train on. After all, he was aiming to improve on his elements, not nearly try and kill himself despite the already made dangers..
Inijo soon climbed down to a cliff, and slowly began to think on how he would begin his training. There were many possible ways to begin his training. His father had mentioned that Wood release, despite it's name, can create life... such as grass where one walks, and can even make a flower grow in one's palm. Perhaps he could begin there, just to get started on training.
He sat down, leg folded over one another. He then stuck his hand out, palm aimed towards the sky. He placed his other hand on his arm. His right hand was facing towards the sky, with his left hand on his right arm. He began to focus chakra in the palm of his hand. Nothing had happened, though. Impatience taking over Inijo, he began to think with his arms crossed. He wanted to hurry up and get his training over with, despite knowing this would take a while.
He began to wonder how water release was required for wood release.. Perhaps the two merged? With all the possibilities, that one popped up into his head first. Made sense too, or at least he assumed so, what with having no idea on elements other than what they do..
He began to focus earth and water chakra into one point, the palm of his right hand. As he began to concentrate, he took notice of a stem growing from his hand. He had done it. His eyes were opened wide, and he was beaming with joy. A large smile on his face had grown, he was almost ready to shout for joy, but his training still wasn't done. He still needed to complete the flower. He began to re-focus his chakra. He focused it back into his palm, both earth and water chakra.
He began to focus, despite being so excited. He focused, and the stem of the plant began to grow more. It was growing into a flower, a basic skill of wood release. Next he had decided he was going to do some chakra control training, and then work on making grass grow... or perhaps.. yes, he could probably combine the two.
The stem continued to grow until it was a full foot tall. There was a flower bud on top, too. He then picked the stem off his palm, and threw it onto the ground. Sure he was proud of himself, and probably wanted to keep it for proof of this day, however he wasn't going to keep a flower with him. He then stepped upon it to finish it off. Next, he walked over to the edge of the cliff, and placed a foot on it. He stored chakra into his foot, allowing him to walk on the wall. He did the same with his other feet, and then he faced the ground. He then stuck out his hand, and began to store chakra in it too. Focusing his chakra on three different points was quite complicated, however his determination allowed for him to continue on. Blades of grass began to appear around Inijo, this only proving his wood release skills was improving, however there were't too many blades of grass. A stem also began to appear in his palm. Things were going good so far. He continued to focus, however soon fell. Thankfully the cliff had caught him. With a sigh, he resumed. He attached himself to the wall once more and began to focus earth and water chakra in both his feet and his right hand's palm. It was indeed complicated, and Inijo was lucky enough to have done this over a cliff, allowing him to fall a few feet rather than a hundred meters or so...
the stem continued to grow, and grass began to form all around him. His training was successful, he had learned wood release. With a grin on his face, he wondered what he would do next. Perhaps use a wood release technique?... Yes, that would do. But not here, at home instead. He began to wonder why he came here.. it seemed easy enough to perform wood release, why did he fear it would go out of control? Meh. Simple fears.
He climbed back up to a platform in the village, and headed home. He was moving with the calm moving wind now, rather than against. He was walking slowly, as he was tired. He heard a noise, a soft, rumbling noise. It sounded quite like an animals growl.. and then he realized it was past noon.. and lunch time. He should have packed a lunch... But with luck, there were many places to eat in the village.
Inijo made a turn, onto a different platform, where he knew there was a ramen shop. He walked in, and placed an order for the usual. He normally just got ramen with some form of meat in it, usually pork or beef, he began to wonder which they would put in there this time. He began to wait, and watch. He watched as steam began to rise from the pot his ramen was cooking in. He saw them adding flavoring, after they had put the ramen in a bowl. The bowl was white, and large. He saw that it was beef flavoring, not bad. He was in the mood for that style of ramen. He then saw them adding a piece of beef, rather large too, into the bowl. They gave him his own chop stick, placed on a napkin, right next to his bowl of ramen. The napkin was a light brownish color, and it seem suited for the style it was placed in. With a grin on his face, he thanked his waiter and chef and began to feast. He took note of two children next to him taking an order, they took out their bag of ryo. They were loaded, the amount of ryo they had was just... incredible. He stopped paying attention to them and began to feast once more. He picked up a group of noodles in between his two normal chop sticks, the ones which didn't cut, and held them up to his mouth. He began to blow on them, underneath where he was holding them. Steam came out the other side, which meant they were or had been hot. He stuck the noodles in his mouth, and began to suck up the rest of the group. He began to chew once the noodles was in his mouth, looking down, thankfully, there was a lot more ramen to go around with.
He then picked up a piece of meat, the beef inside his bowl to be exact. He held it up to his mouth and began to take a bite. It was chewy, though good. He took a single bite and dropped the rest back into his bowl. He had finished off the ramen noodles.
As he finished off the remainder of his ramen, he grew tired. Perhaps it was by eating a nice warm, late lunch, or perhaps it was pysically exhausting himself for the past few hours. Either way.. he decided not to go go practice techniques at home, and to rather head off to bed when he arrived home. He paid for his ramen and headed off.
He walked along with the wind once more, and headed off. He was heading home, with not really anything else to do but get in bed and sleep the rest of this day off, he sighed. Having taken the first steps of his journey, he had been proud of himself. What with no one else to be proud of him, he had to create self given pride.
Soon enough he got to his home, many platforms later. He opened his door, right after unlocking three locks. He had so many due to fear of thieves and burglars. He walked through the door way and shut his door, re-locking it. He began to stretch, and then uttered a yawn. He was quite tired. What with having exhausted himself today. He had began on the path of mastering both water and wood release, not only is he walking the mile, he's putting in double the effort and going twice the distance.
He began to walk through his living room, tiredly. Leaving the plate on the coffee table, and the remainder of the biscuits out. He took a quick note and made sure everything was off, which it was. All the lamps, his television, and his oven. He then began to walk through the hallway. He then opened the door to his bedroom, where he saw his pajamas on the floor. He decided not to change, and he simply slipped off his shoes and kicked them against the wall. He then walked towards his bed slowly, collapsing upon it. He slowly crawled up on his blanket up to his pillow, where he rested his head. With a yawn, he began to enter his slumber state.
His excitement had prevented him from going to sleep right away, having successfully trained for his kekkei genkai, as well as a new basic element. This had certainly left a mark, having used up a majority of his stamina, he didn't feel like continuing in the training. He still had years to go, having not yet mastered either element, he needed to further make use of these elements to master them. But now, there was a seemingly unless amount of combinations he could use for both tactic warfare and simple combat alone. He could use all three together to come up with rather dangerous combinations, however right now he had no clue on either water or wood release, hence why he still had years to go. To master something, one must first know everything about it. At least, that was Inijo's opinion. Another yawn had escaped, the excitement wouldn't keep him awake for much longer. Inijo would close his eyes, growing too tired. Another yawn had escaped, strangely. And with that, he began to sleep. He wouldn't wake up until the next morning, and even then, he may not begin training again. Not right away, anyways.
{6010 words. 30 stats, 60 JP, Wood Release and Water release learned.}
