Last training days before the genin exam Empty Last training days before the genin exam

Thu Dec 19, 2013 7:52 pm

Maku was wondering the village when a messenger told him that he was needed at his father’s shop.  Arriving shortly after he began working.  Not wasting time his mother had given him several heavy chores to perform.  Lifting and moving boxes where just the beginning, the only way he was able to not sneak off was looking at it as this was his only way to become a genin.  Throbbing hem moved the boxes full of supplies around to his mother’s specifications.  Though it all seemed kinda pointless to him.  After doing this he set up on the roof to reshingle the building as it had been leaking of late.  Carrying the boxes up and down the ladder, and then the precision of placing each link seemed very similar to ninja training in a strange way.  This continued for a couple hours, and the heat was exhausting him.  Walking back into the shop he took a short break.  He had a few drinks of water and set out onto the next task.  His mother had left instructions and a large box of fliers for the family business.  Apparently they had a relative coming in who could perform the family jutsu.  So the shop would be up and running again soon and needed to have some information spread.
Taking a large bag of fliers he began by sprinting around town.  By running with the heavy bag he knew he could get in a few more hours of training.  Passing out fliers wasn’t glamorous but he could already feel the burn in his legs from the heavy bag and the pace at which he ran.  Looking back however he realized that perhaps this hadn’t been the best idea from a business standpoint.  The fliers where kind of everywhere.  This caused him to have to repeat the entire route to ensure they made it into mailboxes and not on the ground.  Sneaking away after he was done he took a quick nap.  When he awoke he knew that he was in trouble, dusk had already begun.  Running back to the shop with his head down he was ready for the berating that his mother gave him.  Because of his lapse in judgment he was given more work to do before bed.  Sweeping and scrubbing the ground was slow and meticulous work.  His fingers felt like they were breaking as he reached into every crevasse.  He could only assume that maybe it would help his manual dexterity for holding weapons and throwing shurikens.  Maybe this was a stretch, but it did make him feel a bit better.
Finally finishing his work he was allowed to rest.  Going through a night of dreamless sleep left him refreshed.  And after breakfast he once again returned to the shop for more work.  He looked forward to his relative getting here, because he knew that they’d be able to teach him the family genjutsu.  He arrived shortly after noon.  Like most men in Maku’s family he was slightly shorter, and true to living as more of a shop owner than a ninja these past few years his belly had grown more than his pocket book.  His uncle was a jovial and good hearted man however, and after he rested and put his things away he agreed to train Maku in the family jutsu.
The training seemed pretty easy at first.  He had Maku study many different books with pictures of faraway places.  He told him that it didn’t matter if they were all ingrained in the front of his mind.  As long as he had a base for many different places, the clients mind could fill in some of the details.  After this he had Maku focus his chakra into his finger tips.  His uncle explained that the most powerful genjutsu always used sound, so Maku must pick an instrument he is comfortable with and infuse his chakra with it.  Taking out his lucky harmonica, he began playing.  Though he didn’t have the skills to infuse it with chakra, just the fact of getting the chakra to his hands and playing the instrument at the same time was enough for now.
His uncle left him with that to eat dinner and sleep after his long journey.  Maku knew that he had the basics.  The rest would come in time as he developed more jutsu abilities.  For now he had to refocus to become a genin to gain his head band and be taught more powerful jutsu.  He continued to practice the techniques that his uncle had taught him every chance he got.  One might think he was a different person.  Lazy disposition damned in the event of the upcoming genin exam, and the deteriorating health of his father.  He felt his chakra network becoming stronger all the time.  Though after doing this, he decided to go for a jog.  He realized that all this chakra control training had eaten through the majority of his time.  Leaving his physical training to the wayside.  It was time to change that he knew.
To compensate for this he left physical training for the morning and chakra training to the evening, and working at his father’s shop under the tutelage of his uncle for the middle.  It was in the coming days that his father passed away.  His uncle agreed to stay until Maku passed the genin exams, and was able to at least assist his mother take over the shop.  Besides the funeral not much changed for Make.  His father had been sick for so long, in a way it was a relief that his father could finally rest with his ancestors.  He delved into his training with further ferocity.  Knowing that his uncle could not stay forever.  His work became better and better as time went on.  Though he still preferred chakra training over any other.  Practicing all the jutsu that would be required for the exam such as water/tree walking and substitution jutsu took up all his time.  Besides that he was studying his text books nearly daily to ensure he would pass the written with ease.
