Maku's final day of speed training
Thu Jan 23, 2014 5:52 pm
Before Maku had gone to the leaf village he had taken the opportunity to do some training. While he had been running there he made sure to take full advantage of the distance he had to run. He would alternate between sprinting and jogging the whole way. His speed was beginning to become remarkable at least to himself. He had not met many high level shinobi though so he still wasn’t sure how he would rank up to others. He hoped however that when the time came to fight someone for real he would be able to more than hold his own, and deal the death blow when it counted. He had already determined that Youka was slightly faster than himself, and he needed to fix that. He did not want to be a hindrance in a fight, but instead an asset. While he ran he also had to keep in mind that he could not use any chakra. He was still using the chakra suppression jutsu, so he couldn’t let that go, lest he be discovered as stronger than he really was. His first visit to the leaf had been a horrible mistake, and he paid for that mistake with embarrassment.
Running on he would leap from tree to tree. He used this opportunity to strengthen the muscles in his legs. Leaping high into the air he got a fun weightless feeling. Surely all this training was worth it just to have fun like this. Leaping tree to tree, he would see how many he could skip in between jumps. First it was 5, then 10, and even 15. It was almost like flying. Perhaps he should have chosen a different path from genjutsu, so he could fly he quietly mused to himself. Banishing that thought he knew he couldn’t doubt himself anymore, even for a musing like that. What he was about to do might shake the foundation of the ninja world, so he had to keep his thoughts clean and quick. Doubling back, he didn’t want to get there too quickly, or at least not until his training was over. He ran all the way back to where he had started as to get a better work out. Arriving back at where he had first met Youka he again took off. Sprinting through the forest always made it feel like you were running faster than you really where. The illusion was brought about with seeing the trees pass in your peripheral vision. Even though it was an illusion it was still fun to look at, and made him feel good about how things were going.
Now that he was far enough away from the leaf, he felt confident using jutsu as to not being discovered. He summoned the Bafukani, to increase his speed further to work on it. Using his own heavy illusions on himself, he ran onwards. With this increase in weight and an increase in speed he knew the combination of strain would force him work harder. Only by exhausting himself would he achieve perfect speed. He knew he was getting close to what would be the best he could do without, outside help. He had run so far he was almost back to the waterfall village. Turning once again he began sprinting back. The borders weren’t as dangerous as he had always heard, but you never knew who would show up. Hed been alone for a long time, then he had met two people in the same day. He must be careful and watch his back. You never know what could happen in the Bad Lands after all. Approaching the spot where he had met Youka for the first time, he dismissed his summon, and released his genjutsu. Now that he was back to having zero chakra emitted, he applied his chakra suppression. Once again he appeared to have the chakra of a mid level genin.
Maku had to reflect on the coming mission. His goal was to get into the leaf but then what. Even he wasn’t sure what Youka, or that other ninjas true objectives where. Sure Youka was a priest, but you never knew people, especially around here. He would follow the man though, until he had a reason not to, or was betrayed. The other man was more of an enigma. He would have to be careful; clearly he was so much faster he didn’t know if he could really fight him off. O well no use worrying about it now, That would come when there was something concrete to worry about. His true concern was the leaf shinobi. He was confident he could lure one away, and then use genjutsu to put them out until he could deal with them. Beginning to run to the leaf gates where his first failure occurred, he reflected on all his moves and combos. Surely with his abilities at the least he could escape if not fight his way out. But the only way to see would be to try, and try he would.
Taking the journey to the gates at a run he knew he would be there quickly. Perhaps if it was a long run, then Youka and him could spar again outside the gate, at least with hand to hand fighting. Neither of them would want to expel any chakra so close, it would bring about to much suspicion. His two travel companions where in view after no time. He truly was getting fast, then with his summon he was even faster. He finally felt ready for the mission. Perhaps all that time in his head had been worth it, and a long run had helped clear his mind. Though he was breathing heavily as he stood next to his partners, he felt confident. He had needed time to feel ready for this, but he was certain he could handle whatever they threw at him now. He stood and looked at the most powerful nation in the world, what grandeur awaited him inside. And what would he do when he entered, truly he only wanted to look around when he first arrived, maybe even join them. But now he didn’t know what he wanted inside those monstrous walls.
