Blood-lust [Obtaining Aufero]
Wed Mar 05, 2014 7:39 pm
Yuriko was still hidden within the many caves of the mountains that surrounded her home, Kumogakure No Sato, within the land of Lightning. The caves were utterly dark as it was near the middle of the night during this time, the moon was high outside, hanging in the middle of the sky like an omen for things to come. Yuriko was breathing heavily, her hands shaking as she shivered from the fear and anxiety that came with both being in these caves, as well as awaiting news of the invasion that had been taking place at her home. Concentrating as much as she could manage, Yuriko created a small sphere in the palm of her hand, holding it close to her body as it emitted its soft glow that was just strong enough to light the way in-front of her as she walked tentatively and cautiously, further into the caves.
Yuriko was not sure why she was drawn to this place, it was hauntingly dark and every so often a stray sound would cause her to flinch and let out an involuntary gasp. This place made her believe to be trapped, imprisoned by the stone and dirt surrounding her, with the eerie sound of wind being her only company. Holding the Orb closer to her body, Yuriko entered into an area of the cave which seemed to have a faint, red glow to it, as if someone had left a red light of sorts on within its walls. Of course, this was not likely as she was too far into the caves for anyone to have bothered previously, yet still she was drawn to this new light, to finding the source. Traveling forward, Yuriko approached the source of the warm glow, brighter than her Orb but softer than the moonlight in its strength, there seemed to be a handle of some type wedged within the stone wall, from the hole which the attached item remained was a trail of blood that lead down to the cold cave floor, making a pool of blood that was merely a stain due to its age, a scabbard also lay in the stain of blood, along with a length of rope that looped through so that it may be tied to the body.
Slowly, Yuriko wrenched the item attached to the handle from the cave wall, revealing a both elegant and terrifying looking blade before her: The blade itself was a deep, crimson red that seemed to slowly change to a black color over the course of a few moments, and then back again. The handle was ordinary in color, but seemed to be made of some type of bone, though it was not clear if the bone was animal or human in nature. From the sword there was also a powerful aura that formed a deep red cloud around both the blade and her arm. As soon as she made contact with the sword’s hilt, Yuriko felt an incredible pain that forced her to drop onto her knees and let out a scream of both terror and the pain that she was now enduring. The pain itself was excruciating, but strange as well, it felt as if something from her chest that was not quite her heart, but every as bit important, was being wrenched out inch-by-inch. Yuriko begged whatever it was that was causing this to stop, between sobbing and screaming, now falling to the ground completely as she thrashed around desperately, the sword now bound to her hand by a sort of compelling yet repulsive energy. Eventually the pain began to fade, but only after leaving Yuriko in a sobbing, whimpering lump on the ground, the sword held close to her body as she repeated: “Make it stop . . . “ --- “I don’t want to die . . . “ --- “Please . . . “ over and over until eventually falling into unconsciousness, with her tears still warm on her cheeks, the pain still fresh in her chest and the taste of blood in her mouth.
Yuriko dreamt of a large open field of grass that appeared equal parts barren and luscious, it also seemed to be home to a sort of battle, with swords and armor displaced left and right, blood painted the ground like a sort of grotesque painting. It was there that she saw a stranger she had never seen before, a tall armored woman with piercing amber eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair. She held in her hand the very sword that caused Yuriko to fall unconscious just moments before, but judging by her expression, she felt no pain.
“It will be your doom.” the woman spoke clearly, staring into Yuriko’s eyes sternly.
“What can I do? . . . It hurts so much . . . “ Yuriko replied honestly, frowning as she did so, it was impossible to not do anything it took to end this pain that was coursing through her body, she would gladly give anything to make it stop.
“Do not listen to it, Yuriko. It will only lead to death.” As the armored woman spoke, another voice called to her, mysterious and alluring.
“Pay no heed to her, Yuriko. She merely wishes to lead you astray.” The new voice called, beckoning her toward it with powerful energy and warmth.
She was now between the two beings, one was a strange mass of dark energy, yet called to her deeply, and the other was a woman that seemed to speak reason, yet seemed too far down whatever path she had chosen to be seen as good, or to be trusted. Yuriko placed a hand on her forehead as another surge of pain wracked her body, causing her to tremble and let out a small gasp.
“Endure the pain. It is nothing compared to what will befall you if you trust it!” The armored woman yelled, her eyes glaring into Yuriko’s sternly, coldly.
“Yuriko . . . Come to me, allow me to end the pain for you, all you have to do is give me one thing . . . “ The other voice called softly, gently cooing her name as it spoke, its tone kind and reassuring.
Eventually, Yuriko, In no condition to resist the mysterious voice, turned from the woman and walked forward into the mass of dark mist that was once where the voice had been.
When she awoke, Yuriko’s eyes fluttered open to reveal that the sword was still in her hands, but now a dark black cloud surrounded both her and the strange blade. She was scared, but still so weakened from the ordeal that she had fallen unconscious from that she could not even attempt to fight anything at this point, much less question it. With that in mind, Yuriko stood slowly only to find herself face-to-face with a woman that appeared twice her own age. The woman that now stood before Yuriko had bright red eyes that shone like rubies even in the faint light of the cave caused only by her Orb - which she had dropped earlier and now remained on the floor of the cave. She had olive-toned skin and long midnight-black hair, to complete the image she even had black wings that were much like an angels. The strange woman smiled disarmingly down at Yuriko and reached a hand out to her, signalling for her to take it as her eyes met Yuriko’s.
Yuriko felt strangely at ease near this woman, she reminded her of a mother-figure or somone that she could trust, someone that she could cry to, talk to, trust completely. She reached out with her own hand and gently took the woman’s, who smiled slyly as if sharing a secret, or knowing one and not telling Yuriko. “I am yours now, Yuriko.” The woman said, pausing before finishing her thought. “And you are mine.” While her tone was much like her appearance, kind and gentle, there was a sinister backing to it that made Yuriko think that there was something more to her words than what they were purely on the outside. Nonetheless, she smiled at this woman, in a trance of sorts as she did so, her eyes half-closed and her body seeming completely at ease from the woman’s touch. “Who are you? . . . “ Yuriko asked, cautiously yet genuinely curious as well. Quite clearly, they had never met before, and since the last thing she remembered before falling unconscious was the immense pain, she could only assume that she was dead and this was truly an angel before her.
“I am Solis-Aufero, but you may call me Aufero simply. I am the spirit within the blade that you have now acquired, and I can help you gain anything that you desire, be it power or freedom.” When the woman - now known as Aufero - spoke, Yuriko’s expression became awe-struck. This woman before her was not a woman at all, nor an angel, but a living blade that she had happened to wander upon in these caves, that offered her power and freedom. While it was great in thought, slowly she remembered the pain that had occurred as well as the strange emptiness that followed, as if she were missing a part of herself that she never knew she had.
Aufero, as if reading Yuriko’s mind, smiled gently and produced a small sphere - much like her Orbs - that was a white color, appearing as if it were a crystal ball with smoke inside of it. She was not sure what she was gazing upon for a long time, until Aufero spoke in her same soft, gentle tone that also reeked of menace beneath. “This, Yuriko, is your Soul.” She said, quite simply, a frightening hunger appearing in that once-gentle gaze of hers. “Of course, you most likely want to have it back, do you not, Yuriko?” Aufero then asked, letting out a soft giggle before leaning down and placing a hand below Yuriko’s cheek and lifting it up, tracing along the jaw with her finger slowly, almost predatorily. Yuriko could only stammer and whimper as Aufero taunted her with strange gentleness and revealed her own soul to her. It was all so very surreal, and frightening, but somehow giving her a sense of determination.
“If you wish to regain your soul . . . You will wield me, and you will grant me more souls of my own, or your own blood. Whichever you can manage, and in time . . . I will grant you both your most deep desires that are unknown to even you, as well as return your soul to you. Of course, the choice is purely yours . . . You may stay like this forever and leave me here, but what good could come of that?” Aufero’s words were piercing, and all rang true to Yuriko as she simply nodded, her entire body shaking with fear and a mixture of other emotions.
Aufero smiled a sharks smile as she watched Yuriko, eventually leaning down and planting a soft kiss upon her forehead that caused Yuriko to fall limp into Aufero’s arms, dropping into the veil of unconsciousness once more as Aufero returned to her blade slowly in a cloud of black shadows and red energy. The moon eventually fell over the horizon and was replaced by the sun the next morning, where Yuriko then began to awaken, eyes fluttering open to reveal the cave once more, no longer shrouded by darkness and shadows, or obscured by the vision of Aufero in her human form that haunted Yuriko’s mind even now, sending a shiver down her spine.
Now, however, Yuriko was determined and willing to do as the sword had asked. She would not simply allow herself to become soul-less for the rest of her life, nor would she allow the blade to think of her as weak. She would grant it the blood and souls that it desired, and in return she would get what she desired most . . . which even now, was unsure to her, the only thing that remained clear was the faint taste of blood in her mouth from the previous night, causing her to lick her lips involuntarily and utter a soft giggle before picking up the sword as well as it’s scabbard and tying that around her waist so that she may wear the sword there. Yuriko left the cave then, Aufero haunting her every thought.
