Training invisible chakra threads Empty Training invisible chakra threads

Thu Mar 13, 2014 10:55 am
Chiba focused harder. he knew his goal was attainable, as he’d heard of puppetry masters being able to condense their chakra threads to the point of invisibility. He had never thought he’d need to train for that ability so soon, however. regardless of expectations, though, he was in need of the discretion that those threads allow for. He could hardly believe that he’d let this happen. getting himself in this situation was only embarrassing in so far as somebody found out about it. if he mastered the invisible thread technique, though, he knew that nobody needed to find out.
Chiba could feel the threads condensing as he concentrated, but there was a point at which they would compress no further. He knew that, were he to figure out how to pass that point, the threads would disappear. Experimenting, he tried using less chakra. Upon doing so, the threads unraveled and broke apart not having enough chakra to hold them together.
Scowling, Chiba recalled how he'd gotten so desperate as to attempt this complicated technique so quickly. He'd been walking through the dessert, making notes in his journal, when he'd heard a cry for help. Rushing to assist, he'd found the man panicking in quicksand. Tucking his book back up his sleeve, Chiba hastened to the edge of the natural trap the man had fallen into.
A sudden noise brought Chiba out of his reverie, putting him on guard. He couldn't afford to be caught. Not if he had any hope of getting himself out of this.
The tense moment passed, and Chiba was left undiscovered. Returning to his desperate training, Chiba recast a couple meters of thread, condensing them and reducing chakra until they unraveled themselves again to his displeasure.
The man had seen Chiba as he arrived, and had immediately started struggling to make his way towards the young shinobi. Crying for help as he did so, only to sink deeper into the mess. "Do not struggle. You're making it worse" Chiba warned him, but to no avail. The man thrashed about like a newborn and was sucked even further, well past his torso at this point.
Chiba shook free the memory. It annoyed him how often they sprang to mind now that he had some. How did others, who could recall their entire lives, even function without being flooded by them? Chiba redirected his focus to his seemingly impossible task. An idea struck him. Perhaps he could cast the threads thin and condensed instead of manipulating the chakra once it was out of his body. He was pretty sure that was how ninjutsu were shaped, so why would the same not prove true for his threads.
China had watched as the man sank up to his neck, frantically looking for a branch with which to reach the man, but there was no such detritus in the desert, and Chiba had to resort to his last option. Unspooling his chakra threads, he directed them to each of the man's limbs, his head, and his chest. Chiba locked eyes with the man and said "relax, and let me control your body for a moment, or you'll surely die."
Another noise, and Chiba ducked behind the safety of the dune for a few moments before sneaking a peek. His prey lay there, seemingly relaxed, but Chiba knew better. His previous failed attempts on rectifying the situation had proved as much. That's how he knew that the invisable thread technique was the only way.
The man had, surprisingly, relented control readily. Using the control granted to him, Chiba was able to puppet the man onto his back to pull him out of the depth of the quicksand, then slowly pull him over to the side. The man had been so grateful, even going so far as to give Chiba an unexpected hug before hurrying off in a different direction.
Chiba concentrated hard as he attempted to shape his chakra even smaller and tighter before releasing it as threads. Finally, he felt ready, and released a meter of thread from each finger. The threads burst forth almost shockingly fast, dissolving as the chakra interrupted itself. Chiba quickly stopped releasing the chakra, shocked at the results. Needing to rethink his aproach, Chiba let his mind wander for inspiration.
As soon as the man had run off, Chiba had reached for his journal in irder to chronicle the events that had just transpired. Reaching in its pocket, his hand came out holding nothing. Checking his other pockets, he found that they, too, had been emptied. All his shīruken and kunai had been pickpocketed by the man during that hug, Chiba deduced, and had quickly chased after the thief.
Upon finding the thief's camp, Chiba had scouted it from a distance, noticing a few explosive tag traps was more than enough for Chiba to want to keep his distance. He'd tried using his strings to grab his items once he'd spotted them in a small pile, but the thief had used chakra infused blades to slice through the threads calmly before returning to preparing his supper.
Having replayed what had gotten him to this point had gotten Chiba nothing in terms of inspiration on how to retrieve his things. If he could make his threads invisible, there would be no chance of the thief cutting them before Chiba had retrieved his belongings. And, without his shīruken and kunai, initiating a fight was useless.
As his mind had wandered, Chiba had found himself staring at a spider digging in the sand. As it dug, it applied its web to the outer walls if it's cave, ensuring it wouldn't collapse. As it progressed, the thin outer coating of web was nearly undetectable.
Struck with inspiration, Chiba prepared his chakra again, shaping it within himself carefully before releasing it. Although he could feel the outpouring of chakra, Chiba couldn't quite see it. For a moment, he feared that they were dissolving faster than he could see, but he then noticed that he could still feel them as a part if a vestigial sense.
Moving the new threads experimentally, Chiba was understandably still unused to not being able to see where they were. He used them to grasp and tease parts if his clothing in order to acclimate to the newness before undergoing his impromptu mission.
Launching his crystalline, hollow, invisible threads straight at his belongings, Chiba watched with pride as they were ignored by the thief this time. Carefully, Chiba attached one thread to each item, before realizing that there should have been a total of eleven items. Examining closely, Chiba noticed that his journal was missing from the pile of his belongings.
Knowing that he, at the very least, had his weapons back, Chiba felt confident that he could initiate a fight between the two of them over the journal.
Racing to the top of the dune, Chiba launched himself off its peak, recalling his weapons to their respective pockets while surveying the campsite from his brief aerial position, and noting the traps that the thief had set to ward against intruders.
From that perspective, he could see that the journal was in the thief's hands, newly opened to the first page. Eager to stop the secrets held therein from being read, Chiba launched a kunai at the book.
He could see as he landed that the first kunai caught the thief off guard, and had struck the books front cover, pinning it loosely to the sand. Launching a shīruken, Chiba hoped to catch the thief off guard a second time, but he was faster than anticipated, and dodged the shīruken.
"I thought I had seen the last of you when you gave up" he said, drawing a kunai and infusing chakra into it.
Chiba scowled at the thief, "I never gave up, I just had to teach myself something new." As he spoke, he pulled his shīruken into a u-turn with the invisible thread he'd attached to it. Throwing a second shīruken, he hoped to catch the thief between the two.
"When did you get more weapons!? I thought I'd stripped you bare!" The thief asked with surprise, dodging the second shīruken.
"These aren't new weapons, I simply retrieved those you'd taken from me"
As realization struck the thief, so did the first shīruken. "But... How!?" He cried.
Chiba grinned as he loosed his last three shīruken. "Invisible chakra threads, dancing shīruken" he called out, using his strings to strike at the thief with his shīruken.
Unable to see the threads, the thief struck blindly with his blade, missing time after time. "I give up! You can have the book back!"
Chiba smiled grimly as he recalled the shīruken and the kunai imbedded in his journal. "It's too late for that, I'm afraid."
Carefully Grabbing the several kunai that made up the camps' perimiter with his chakra threads, Chiba wrapped the thief up in his own exploding tags before forming the required handseal and detonating the tags.
