Coming Up Quick

Risako spent her morning frantically combing through her notes she took during her days at the academy. The reason for her grief being an upcoming tournament she took part in, upon reviewing some of the competition though, she realized she would be laid out flat if she didn't train. So far, she was only using fire type jutsu. Alas, she wouldn't have a chance at winning in her current state, so she was attempting to build up her arsenal so to speak. Her eyeballs scanned every hastily scribbled page with the scrutiny of an old hag during bingo. Running across the A-rank jutsu "Rasengan" she would throw her hands up in the air in an act of celebration. She had watched Jason use the rasengan during a spar with Tatsuya, kicking up a blinding cloud of dust that helped him gain an edge in battle. The rasengan was also common among leaf ninja, which pressured her to learn it.   Luckily for her, the jutsu only required time, dedication, and a few round items. Grabbing a few water balloons, a rubber ball, and an apple, she would dart out of her house toward the training ground. 

This was a high level technique, but her friend Jason learned it, and she was catching up rapidly to him, so it couldn't be too awfully difficult right? Wrong. Four thousand words later, she will be nothing but a battered sack of meat with the ability to use the rasengan. While we're on the topic of Jason, she had began looking up to him in a sort of brotherly way. Not like, full on Internet stalker brotherly, but more of a friendly brotherly way. Her thoughts wandered as she headed toward the training ground. Though, they were mostly centered around the tournament and it's contestants. A few of the contestants were unproven and unskilled genin, but a few caught her eye. Mitsui for example, he held a special place among genin as he held the skill of a jounin. Hysterio was a genjutsu user, and she knew no counter to that, meaning unless she finished him off quick, she may be out of the game in seconds. It was time to clear her head though, as she was nearing the training ground.

The day was hot and humid, the sun beating its rays down upon the forests and citizens that belonged to Konohagakure no Sato. Risako glanced at her notes, deciding it best to problem solve first. Sitting in the grass, the girl focused her whole being on the thought of manifesting and controlling her chakra. After the sun moved across the sky a good bit, she would grab a water balloon. Still sitting cross legged in the grass, she would hold the water balloon out in front of her, attempting to swirl the water inside without breaking the balloon. The water in the balloon appeared to be wobbling.... not because of her chakra though.

Risako knew had to knead chakra for fire type jutsu, but that was a far different thing than trying to manifest it at a specific point outside of the body. Wait... that specific point part. Maybe that had something to do with it. She concentrated with every fiber of her being, at a point on her palm, even going so far as to stare intensely at it. The water inside began to bubble a little, but it did not spin. A sharp pain shot through her right arm briefly, leaving a lingering numbness in her fingers. 

Grasping both the balloon and her arm she hurdles forward. Was her body ready for such a demanding feat as the rasengan? It didn't matter, she would have to endure the pain at the risk of hurting her own body. The only reason she even ran toe to toe with Jason, Kasai, and Tatsuya was because they slowed down to her pace. While she was grateful that they let her train and practice with her, she felt like she was dragging then down. A feeling the poor girl had grown weary of. After the pain mostly subsided, she stuck her arm out again and started manifesting her chakra, this time the water was whirring to life, albeit at a slow pace. This wasn't a huge breakthrough or anything, but she was at least making baby steps toward learning this high power jutsu. Trying again, she would begin manifesting the chakra in her arm, this time accompanied by a dull aching pain. Attempting to force her chakra in her hand, the balloon would compress and the water would swirl momentarily before the balloon burst open. The water whipped out in a spiral formation, spraying both her and the grass with warm water.

Wiping the sweat fron her brow she fell back in the grass, her right arm writhing with pain. A rather loud "Fuck!" escaped her lips as her left arm moved from her brow to her right shoulder in an attempt to ease the pain. Her vision began to fade as her heart beat grew irregular, and her mind slipped into unconsciousness. While she was unconcious, her brain revisited the fight between Jason and Tatsuya. Jason was flung to the ground, and on the way, he prepped the great blue destructive ball. Hitting the ground, Jason and his rasengan kicked up a cloud of dust in which an Hyuuga would have a difficult time seeing. While this wasn't necessarily essential to her training, she would realize that every jutsu she learned could be used in more than one way. The rasengan, which could blow giant holes in opponents, could also be used to blind them or cause some other obstacle. The fire jutsu she had already acquired could cause quite the damage to the environment. Why she didn't think of that before now, she didn't know. As fire was destructive, she should've been more careful. 

The sun was now hanging in the sky, leaving a slight orange tint. A small breeze graced her skin, giving her some much needed relief as she slowly came back to the world of the living. Her arm had little feeling all the way up to her shoulder, and her breathing was still unsteady. Risako wasn't ready to throw in the towel just yet though, as she still had two water balloons, the goal was to prevent them from popping, bit that seemed impossible to her. Hopefully the pain would dispell itself over time, allowing her to use the jutsu without any major problems. She picked up the next balloon, prepping herself for it for it. "All right, come on Risako you can do it." The words escaped her lips just barely over the sound of a whisper. She started focusing all of her chakra on her palm again, this time working on controlling it and manipulating it into staying within the water balloon. She pictured a spin top in her head as she added more power to the mass of chakra swirling in the balloon. The way it spins and teeters around a pivotal point, creating a momentum. Now she took that image and applied it to the water balloon of death that rested in her palm. Picturing it that way allowed her to gain a better grip on the wild chakra she was attempting to manipulate. Just as she thought she had it, her hand balled up into a fist involuntarily, her arm spasming from the amounts of chakra she was using. As the balloon popped this time, she crumpled forward clutching her arm, and a small scream of pain came forth from her mouth. She looked down at her aching arm, and noticed the veins bulging out, as if she had high blood pressure. Her head started hurting again, this time it was a throbbing pain that pulsed with the pain in her arms. She may have over done it for the day, but she still had one more thing to do: Amass a ball of chakra that she could use, no matter the size. 

This took her the better part of four hours, and the moon had worked its way into the night sky. The battered genin would reach her twitching fingers out toward the moon, envisioning, focusing, and manifesting all of her chakra into a small spinning mass in the palm of her hand. It was less of a sphere, and more of a spinning mess. IT DIDNT MATTER THOUGH! SHE GOT THE CHAKRA TO APPEAR OUT SIDE OF HER BODY! It may not have been the brightest thing to do however, as she collapsed to the ground, a battered lump of flesh, blood and bone.

Risako's eyes fluttered open at the crack of dawn, giving her just enough rest to clear her head, and somewhat refresh her body. While she was still on the ground, she grabbed her notes out from under her, rereading them just to check if her progress was going according to plan. The first step in aquiring the rasengan, is breaking a water balloon using concentrations of spiraling chakra. Her face was swept over with a sever look of dissapointment. While she had learNed the basic part of the Rasengan, she learned it wrong. She was trying to condense and control the chakra without breaking the balloon, which was probably why she kept causing pain her self some pain. Crumpling the paper as she balled up her fist, she would shout, "How could I have been so fucking stupid!" Her arm was still somewhat numb from last night, hopefully she would regain some sort of feeling. With a slight moan, she looked around for the ball she brought along with her. 

She noticed her apple was gone, an animal probably took it during her slumber, which ignited her anger even further. Grabbing the ball, she immediately tried to force so much of her chakra into it, that the ball started to condense and expand in weird contortions. Her energy ran out before it could busy though, leaving her gasping for breath with a slightly deformed rubber ball. While she had definitely been able to make a mass of chakra, she still couldn't break the rubber ball, meaning she would have to work on the power of it.

Only six hundred more words to go! Let's get it done! (It's sad that I'm talking to myself.) Risako tightened her grip on the ball. Gritting her teeth, she manifested a large amount of chakra in the middle of her palm. the rubber ball began to glow a feint blue as it expanded every which way the chakra took it. Parts of it condensed and contoured with her chakra, but she appeared unable to damage it. Gritting her teeth hard, she started doing some awkward high pitched female groaning. Her arm began to twitch with pain again as she gave it one final "push". The ball, had begun to peel away in strips, before just shredding apart completely leaving an immaculate ball of chakra in its place. She immediately threw her hand to the ground, blasting a large hole in the dirt and knocking her back in the air. As she spiraled away from the explosion, she got a good few of both the ground and sky. Gravity being the dick that it was, pulled the girl down to earth again. As she landed, the momentum sent her tumbling for a few spins. She lay on her side, eyes half closed. Her mind was blank as the fingers on her right hand twitched and pulsed uncontrollably. Her legs lay with her knees brought up to her stomach. Her breathing was labored and her stomach and chest heaved in short intervals. This ladies and gentleman, is the image of a genin that was battered and beaten. (Que sad animal music) Though it wasn't the first time, and it certainly was my the last. (Sarah mcwhats her face starts talking) 

Moving on, Risako passed out again. This time, it wasn't as deep of a sleep, as she woke up every couple of minutes. After about the fifth time, she slowly pulled herself up into a sitting position. Her right arm lay limp due to the excessive abuse. It appeared her training was done for the day. This was a technique that took a lot of time to learn, this was just the first day of many.

Returning for the forty second time, Risako had learned how to use the jutsu. Well.... mostly.... She still needed to get her aim down, and actually test the destructive power of it. To attest to her training, her hand had acquired a multitude of purple blotches, and her knuckles were red and skint up. Buuut, know one could see the the injuries, as they were wrapped up in a bandage. Over the course of the past few weeks, she managed to break a few ribs, stop a prison riot, make a metric shit load of new friends, and learn to summon. As she prepped herself for the first target on the list, a scarecrow that she was in the process of making, she thought about what the future could possibly hold. One thing was for certain, she would continue to walk down the path of the flame, like her friend Kasai. Since the Rasengan was a neutral technique, Risako wanted to find a way to integrate it with her Katon techniques. 

Looking at the scarecrow she set up, the girl charged it while manifesting her chakra. As she neared it, a wondrous little ball appeared in her hand, and she smashed that ball into the scarecrow. Her destructive powers were definitely there, as the only thing that was left standing of the scarecrow was the stump of wood. Hay and shredded cloth spiraled to the ground below her. Risako decided that she could do more than that, and looked for a bigger target. The only one around was the village wall... What harm could come about from that? Not thinking to clearly, she started manifesting her chakra again, aiming for a level she had yet to obtain. Once the rasengan grew to its max size, Risako ran at the wall slamming her rasengan into it. After a few more steps, she would be on the other side of the wall, laying among the rubble from the impact. Risako's eyes were wife open, her mouth agape. She knew the rasengan packed a punch, but... dayum. The hole in the wall was approximately two meters in diameter. Now... this hole would surely piss off whoever had to maintain the wall, so she fled the scene. While she was no stranger to trouble and punishment, this was probably the worst thing the genin had done.
