Father Son Training
Tue Mar 31, 2015 7:20 pm
Salzem approached the Training area with his father close behind him. His father came with him to help him become faster, to make him a better ninja. Salzem was preparing to drop all his access gear to make himself lighter but his father raised a hand to stop him.
"No. Keep it on." He said his his deep voice. Salzem turned to look at his father in surprise. Salzem's father was tall. Almost six feet. He looked a lot like Salzem but had longer hair and had a goatee. His eyes were also not quite as red.
"But father," Salzem began but his father held up his hand again.
"A ninja must be used to the things he carries." Salzem's father walks past Salzem, pulling out a kunai from his waist bag. Salzem turns and sees his father carving an "x" in the middle of one of the logs he then walked back over to Salzem wordlessly and carved a line in front of his feet. Salzem's dad then walked over to a tree and leaned up against it.
"Son," Salzem's dad said. "From that spot, dash as fast as you can and strike that 'x' I made with all your strength." Salzem looked from his dad to the log to the line in front of his feet. He was uncertain that this exercise would do more than break his fist but his father had never steered him wrong before. He judged the distance from the log to himself. It was short, forcing Salzem to reach top speed in a ridiculously short amount of time. Salzem cracked his gloved fists and lowered himself into a sprinting position. Salzem glanced up to see his father twirling the kunai in between his fingers before catching it in his palm and raising it above his head. He slashed it down quickly, signaling for Salzem to start. Salzem did so, pushing off the ground with all of his might to give him a bigger boost of speed. He quickly crossed the middle ground between him and the log, bringing up a closed fist and he did so. He gritted his teeth and let it fly with all of his might as the log flew within range. Salzem's fist smacked into the 'x', expecting it to fly into the trees, but did little more than tilt the log ever so slightly back in the dirt. Pain did not come at first, but a second later, he threw his arm back in agony. He did not scream, he would not scream but he did growl as he looked down at his wounds. His gloves were torn at the knuckles and the skin was raw and bleeding. He tried moving his fingers and they responded. Nothing broken at least. Salzem's father clapped his hands together in seals and his hands began to glow light blue. He came over to Salzem and placed his hands on Salzem's damaged one. Salzem watched in amazement as his damaged flesh repaired itself and the pain dissipate as his father's medical ninjutsu did it's work. When the healing was complete, Salzem moved his fingers again. They were good as new! He looked up at his father in gratitude.
"Thanks father." Salzem said, smiling at him from behind his mask. To his credit, Salzem's father grinned a little himself. He then looked at 'x' that he had cut into the wood. It was still there with four bloody prints around it. Salzem looked down sadly but his Father clapped him on the back.
"Well done, Salzem!" he said, looking at the log. Salzem looked up at his father quickly, surprised. His father looked at him with a little excited twinkle in his eye. One he hasn't seen in him for a long time.
"Lets do that again, huh?" Salzem's father said. Salzem nodded in agreement, placing himself back at the line his father had drawn. They repeated the exercise throughout the next couple of hours, Salzem smashing into the log, his father healing any long-term wounds. Finally, Salzem collapsed while making his way to the line for the umpteenth time that day. He was breathing hard, his eyes squeezed shut in the effort of enduring the pure agony that was his exhausted body. His father, noticing Salzem lacked the strength to do the exersize anymore, picked him up and carried him home. He glanced over his shoulder only once, marveling at the bashed in part of the log that once was the 'x'.
