Kozai would note the dodge, which was performed at a truly pitiful speed compared to what he was used to. At that point, he stepped forward with his right foot and stopped. The mist dispelled, and the air became clear again. The boy... hadn't attacked. In that case, it was likely that he was able to determine that the attack was no longer meant to kill. Kozai smiled at the boy, putting away his kunai. Had the boy really matriculated to that point already? It seemed unlikely for one such as him, but one never knew with the newer ninja.
With that, he would speak.
"Indeed, I was actually not trying to kill you this whole time." He gazed at the boy, gauging his chakra levels.... not bad, honestly. Better than he had had himself as an early chunin. He, perhaps, when he started gaining an interest in the ninja life, had had perhaps only eighty percent of what this child now had. Yes, this meant that this boy was capable of learning stronger techniques, such as rasengan. He had witnessed the rasengan at the hands of that boy named Makussu, who was most likely now dead due to... an unfortunate explosion that Kozai had totally not intended.
"In fact, you've grown much since we've last me. Go home, boy. Shimagakure... or Kirigakure no Sato, as the case may be, is that way." He pointed off in the direction of the island village. He knew his geography pretty well, as it was one of the easier subjects to master during his academy years. He realized that the boy must not have much a chakra sensory, so he resumed suppressing his chakra once again. Well, it was good for something, at least. If none of the konoha ninja had noticed him, then he would be allowed to continue in safety. He didn't want to have to deal with any other boys today.... this dark power the boy had emitted was interesting enough.
"Good luck, boy. I wish you the best on your journeys for whatever you seek. I hope that we may meet again under better circumstances... we might just only chat next time." With that, he would gaze keenly at the boy, looking for emotional signs. Was this boy the kind of idealist he hated? Or was he one of those with a dark secret, like he once had been?

Well... it looked like the mansion had been right the whole time. Kozata noted that he should trust the ambitious and cynical mansion more. Well, it looked like he was free to do as he pleased. With that, he began to refill his yuumei using his chakra, to make sure that the maximum capacity of the dark pulse was ready in case the man in front of him was deceiving him or some such thing. He was a little surprised to hear that the man was just letting him go like that... and even more surprised to learn that the man was just letting him go home. Not only that, the man wished him well.
What a day it had been.
"Well, in that case.... uh... I guess I wish you the same too, Kozai." Emboldened by the yuumei within him, he addressed the man by name. This was probably not a good idea, but the dark power made him think a little differently than he normally did. "If we do meet again... maybe we could talk about something different than combat? I'd want to know more about you... especially that lab coat!" Well, that sounded a little awkward now.

Kozai turned.
"Sure." With that, he would be off. The boy didn't remind him of himself at all... but it did spark in image in his mind of the boy he could have been had he chosen a different path after losing his memory. He had chosen the path of learning, but also cold hard fact. That in and of itself had made him somewhat of a classicist, even among the more stoic ninja of Iwa. He was the embodiment of glacial ice, so it seemed, hard, enduring, and cold, only changed by long years of grinding, stress and causation of succession (the primary type, in fact.)
With that, he would put his hands together in a ram handseal. This would not be visible to the boy, but would be performed at 110 speed, so it would be beyond the boy's reaction time anyway, being too fast for him to even have his brain recognize what was going on. This would be the handseal for body flicker, which would boost Kozai's speed to 220, far beyond the boy's comprehension of what speed was. With that, he left he boy behind, as he flickered into the forest and set off back toward Konoha. The forest would obscure him as he re-suppressed his chakra, making sure that he was not followed by any means. The boy had passed his evaluation.
Now, it was time to attend to other matters. Kozai filed away what he had just seen and put it in his long term memory. He would retrieve it from there later... but for now, he had to focus on what lay ahead. There were things there that he knew that he wanted to do. One of these concerned that boy suboordinate of his, Mitsui. He needed to issue that one orders....

Kozata gaped as the man.... vanished. Wow, that was amazing! Was that him just going really, really fast, or was that teleportation? At any rate, it was not for him to know. With that, he turned and headed northwest. The sun had reached a rather high position now, and Kozata sought the shade of a grove of trees. Ah, nice and cool. He would stand and sit around here for a while, then leave. In that case, he would head in the approximate direction of Shima. His thoughts, unlike Kozai's, were on kittens. Cute, little fluffy kittens. So damn cute!
