James yawns, getting out of his bed. Well, more as rolling off his makeshift bed, onto the ground about five meters below. He does a advance transform quickly, hardening his body as to keep it from hurting too badly. He crashes into the ground, and he lies there for a few minutes, moaning and groaning. He picks himself up, and groans, stretching out his arms and legs, twisting his body to pop his back. He looks up at the tree he was sitting in last night, watching the moon rise. He remembers that he was to excited to go to sleep because the next day was suppose to be when he took on his first mission.
"My first.... oh crap, I'm late." James says, slowly, before quickly running off to the area where the mission board group gave out missions. He arrives about fifteen minutes later, having gotten lost for some reason, he stops, quickly breathing in and out, having lost his breathe along the way. He enters into the building, and waits in the short line. Nobody shows up behind me, and James realizes why.
"Sorry, ninja, but we currently don't have any missions left." one of the mission board ninjas tells him. She glares at him, and with a wave of her hand, seems to dismiss James. She begins browsing through the paperwork in front of her. James notices two others of the group start talking back and forth in hush whispers.
"Wait, what do you mean no missions? I thought there were always missions?" James asks, staying in place.
The same ninja looks up from her paperwork, then back down, saying, "Yes, for those who are on time. Those who can't bother to show punctuality, also show that they can handle the missions that we put before them."
James looks at her, then says, "I'll do any mission, no matter how menial or non mission like it seems, please, I just need to do something for this village."
One of the other ninjas, one that had been whispering back and forth to another ninja, speaks up, and says, "Well, we do have a mission, one that is used for late arrivals to show that they can handle the responsibility of being a shinobi of Konoha. But, it's very basic, as about basic as missions get."
James brightens up, and the first ninja glares at the second. She "hmphs," at the second, before turning back to James and says, "Yes, as my colleague so helpfully stated, there is another, lesser mission you can complete for us, to prove that you can handle the whole mission thing. As such you must do this task with everything you have."
She begins ruffling through her pages, before she drags out the correct page. She holds it out, not bothering to look up, and James steps forward, looking at the page, and starts reading it out loud, "Mission: Lumber, Rank: E rank, Task: The village needs you to go out into the forest and collect some lumber for the village, get a decent amount but do not destroy the villages surroundings! Note: Again, do not destroy the villages surroundings."
James looks up, then asks, "Why is the note in there twice?"
The first ninja says, "For the very reason you asked. Young ninjas such as yourself, don't see the value of the ninja surroundings so we have to warn you a couple of times before it gets in your thick heads. Now, go, I'm done with you."
James grins, stuffing the mission letter into his pouch, running out of the building, racing to the gate, then out the gate and running into the forest. He stops a few meters in, looking around, taking it in.
"Hey, I know, I can work on that one jutsu that I used against Kuro, the mass pull, maybe I can start getting that jutsu down. He wanders over to a very large tree, stopping in front of it, looking back towards the gates. He scampers around the tree, facing towards the village gates. He grins, and says, "Okay, ready to go. Almost could of pulled the tree, up and down on top of the gate. Good thing i noticed that before I made that mistake."
He jumps back a few meters, doing the handsigns, and sending out a blue frisbee of energy towards the tree. it hits the tree, and James swears he can hear the tree groan as the jutsu hits it and starts pulling it towards James. The tree starts to drag across the grounds, before it's roots stop it, and it starts tipping.
"TIMBER," James shouts as loud as he could, jumping back, as the tree crashes into the ground. He then thinks, "Hmm, I don't know how much lumber is needed, but I suppose it's more than this." He dashes to another tree, standing in front of it, and does the jutsu again. He jumps out of the way as it begins to fall, and James sees his mistake. It was crashing, and it looks as if it was going to hit the wall. He quickly dashes around the tree, and does the jutsu again, stronger than before. The blue frisbee of energy hits the tree, and for a second it seems as if the tree was still going to fall down on the wall, but the second jutsu overpowers the first pulling the tree back towards James.
He laughs, jumping out of the way as it crashes to the ground. He then stops, and ponders.
"Now then, how to get it back to the village?" James thinks. Almost as if magic, but really the lumberjacks returning from their lunch break, James hears people moving through the forest, almost jolly, filled with laughter. He dashes over to them, and seeing their axes and other gear, excitedly says, "Hey, hey, I have two trees that I need help with, do you guys mind helping me?"
The lumberjacks noticing his head band of Konoha, and the way he seemed eager, nod, and follow him back to the two trees that James brought down.
He borrows an axe from one of the lumberers and with help from the other lumberjacks, he starts chopping the wood and twenty minutes later, James sweating from the nice work out, grins, as they start loading up the wood on a cart to bring back to the city. Five minutes later, James is sitting on top of the wood, looking as the mission board group review his work for this mission.
"Acceptable," the first ninja says, and hands him his reward. She graces him with a smile and says, "Return here later, next time we give out missions, and make sure to be on time this time."
[end, twc 1127, +1127 to mass pull, +500 ryo for mission reward, +1 AP from E rank mission]
