Mission Name: Path to Chuunin pt 1
Rank:B
Type:Infiltration
Character Requirements: Genin
Mission Location: Kumogakure/Amegakure
Word Count Requirements:1500 wc
Repeatable?Yes
NPC? 3 sentries
Reward:2k ryo and the ability to move on to the next mission
Task: Inside the villages there is not a training center that allows nin to hone their skills when attempting to rank up in their respective areas. Once such room is dedicated to the arts of sneaking into a restricted area and stealing information. This area is a maze of corridors and pathways that intersect and cross. This area is monitored and guarded by three sentries that protect the scroll. Your job is to infiltrate and get the scroll without being seen, the mission ends when you touch the scroll.
No harm is to befall the sentries, if you attack them, consider that mission failure. If you are seen, mission failure.
Kozan had finally decided to not waste his time by not doing missions. Well, in essence, what that meant was that he was going to proceed to do the more important missions. He had to get more power... a higher rank... only then would the Raikage notice him and give him what he needed. He'd surpass Ashur and all the rest... even if they were his friends, he had to be the best among them. Otherwise, what really was the point? He closed his eyes and envisioned it: the memory of that black sphere in the sky, drawing all to it. Such power... such force... could he, too, not reach such heights?
They told him that he was too young, that he hadn't had enough training yet... screw what they thought. He'd waited long enough for this, and wasn't about to back down. Packing up his gear and dressing, he was startled by his mother coming in at the door. What the fuck did she think she was doing there? He stood up, and turned around, looking at her, trying to get a feel for whether or not she was angry or ditzy or whatever she was most of the time.
She was standing there, hands on hips, with a rather judgmental look on her face. Oh, was he supposed to be in some kind of trouble now? Dumb skank. She should just stay out of his way. If she had any talent in chakra, she had never developed it... unlike how it was with himself and Ashur. They were destined for greatness, while her time was already over. His eyebrows came together as a cloudy, dark look manifested on his young face. Silently, he willed her to leave. Get out of my face, before I get you out of my face for you!
"Where do you think YOU'RE going, young man? Not on a dangerous mission, I hope." Damn, she had seen right through him... not really. The mission wasn't that dangerous... just an infil mission, that was all. Easy enough for one such as him with not so high chakra and a propensity for weapons. Still, there was a chance for injury, in the case of an accident... but it was safer than a trip in the mountains. After all, it was indoors and everything. However, he was still annoyed. How dare she get in his way and ask such stupid questions?
"No, mother, I'm doing a safe mission. It's alright, it'll be easy. You know me." He gave her a cheery smile, though his soul was giving off an eerie sneer at her. Who do you think you are, to determine whether a mission is dangerous or not? You're just some whore who decided to preside over my life. She sighed, and rubbed his head. He tensed a bit, not enough for her to notice. Don't touch me, you bitch! His mind screamed. His seething hatred wouldn't be eminent, unless one could read his mind, in which case it was almost repulsive in nature.

Her eyebrows, too, narrowed. Reluctantly, Kozan admitted that he could see how someone could fall head over heels for her. Even as she approached her middle age, she aged slowly and gracefully, which he supposed was a good physical trait. However, he still disliked his mother for reasons already stated. Her face cleared, and she stepped aside. She was now wearing a happy smile, her face now breaking into cheerfulness, as if the sun had come up after a stormy night. Well... what a naive slut. Although, it was right that she back off and leave him be. He was going to surpass even his father...
"Well, that's good. I'm just worried about you, hun. You've been working so much, lately. Have a good time now, and stay safe, you hear?"
"Sure thing, mom." Stay out of my life, you pitiful woman. You have no place in it.
"I'll see ya 'round." With that, he walked down the stairs, and out of the door into the bright sunlight. It was bright, yes, but also harsh. Oddly enough, it reflected Kozan's mood pretty well, though he was too focused on his task to contemplate such silly things. Time to go succeed.

The building he now stood in front of was a rather large looking white one. The new training facility, he thought. There was so much more to it than met the eye, but he was really only here for a singular purpose today. He gritted his teeth, knowing that this was only the beginning of a long road, but he knew that he could make it with ease. He took a step toward the building, and realized that this would be much easier if he had the help of a certain black metal sword called Nightblood.... well, he'd probably summon the sword later, even if he didn't need to use it. First, he needed to see what kind of task awaited him.
He stepped in, and saw a table with several folders on it. Huh, leave it up to the village's bureaucracy to make things easy and organized for people like him who didn't oppose it. In fact, to a small extent, he supported it. It had ousted the old regime, meaning that it had been more powerful in every aspect. In that case, what choice did he have? To acquire power, he was willing to follow anyone, as long as he was able to ascend even that level in the end.
He had even been willing to cast aside what morality he had left, the unwillingness to embrace the amazing abilities that his clan had to offer him. It still didn't mean that he accepted the legacy that his Aunt Misaki had left behind, but merely that he was just now wresting her power from her. Bit by bit, he'd get all of her possessions... and then, once that was complete, he'd crush everyone who stood in his path. This, however, was a different matter. Damn missions. Sure, they were a good source of funds, but that didn't mean much when he could be spending time training himself instead.

In the end, he picked up one of the files; the one that had his name on it. Kozan Takami... the very sound of it was a sign of disappointment and despair. "Kozan", a word representing a desire to give up and lose, and the Takami surname, a burden that he would have to carry for the rest of his (probably short) life. A curse from his father, his mother's brother. At least he hadn't had to carry whatever his mother's maiden name was; her family was a powerless one with no talent for chakra as far as he knew.
Opening the file, he read over the materials within. His mother (to her credit, something he rarely allowed her in his mind) had taught him to read at a very young age, allowing him to come into the ninja academy a step ahead of many of the other ignorant brats there, whose shitty brains could barely comprehend phenomes (well, they weren't that bad, but the point is made). Regardless, he thought with contempt, she was still a shitty airheaded woman who couldn't even keep her man in the end. What a whore. He dropped the folder back onto the desk, sighing as he contemplated its contents.

Infiltrate that part of the building to the west... and take hold of some scroll? Interesting. He noted the other details that had been in the document as well. The area was like a maze (for some reason, he had a premonition of the words "spec ops" and "Beyond: Two Souls"... what the fuck?), and there were three guards within. The mission was deceptively simple... avoid the guards and don't engage them at all. Then, take hold of the scroll. Well, time to get going. He stood up when it was time for him to step forward, and walked through an open doorway. Immediately, he found himself within the maze.
It was dark, and barely illuminated, the only light coming from the actual tiny bulbs dispersed here and there throughout the area. Kozan's chakra was small enough to the point where unless someone focused really hard (which he knew was beyond the talent of these three guards), he wouldn't really be detected. He knew that the average range of chakra sensory was 50 meters, and this area was certainly that large, but again, it wasn't like any of them knew he was even there. Good, so he had an element of surprise.

He knew that it wouldn't last long, though, so he used the surface climbing technique to ascend a nearby wall to an overhang.... this particular area was one that had few lights, so lying on his ventral side, he was able to keep himself concealed pretty well. Crawling forward, he managed to get a good look at the maze ahead. Hmm... if he were to go the direct route and just sprint for it, then it'd be the end for him for sure. No, he'd have to take an indirect route. Kozan waited there for a few more seconds a he waited for the guards to get into just the right positions, while calculating a good path to take. Then, smirking to himself, he moved, silently sliding off the place he had been laying and back onto the floor of the maze from here, he'd take a quick right turn, and climb up again to reassess. That was strange... one of the guards wasn't moving in a way that he had been expecting. Or, rather, his lack of movement... He was leaning against a wall, his arm moving up and down stiffly and rapidly... he was performing handseals? No... no, he was just playing with himself. If this hadn't been a steal mission, Kozan would have groaned in disgust. What kind of guards were these?

It was too bad that he couldn't attack them. He supposed that it would have been an option in any realistic setting, given the fact that "removing the guard" would be a most efficient way of getting to his target, in this case, some random scroll. However, this mission had rules, and he intended to play by them. Gritting his teeth quietly, he shifted off of his position again, and with his back to the wall, slowly began to make his way down a straight path toward the scroll, which sat on a rather small podium type thing under a spotlight. How convenient, he had first thought that this was going to be a hide and seek of sorts.
Whenever a guard passed too close to the path that he was taking, he would duck into a side path or quietly scramble up a wall until the guard passed by. Some distance away, he could still hear the sound of heavy breathing and a "plup-plup" noise as the guard began to approach climax. If he finished and started patrolling again, it could very well cause problems for Kozan. He decided to pick up the pace a little, maneuvering through a new shortcut to attempt to get to that scroll.

He was now only a couple of maze blocks away from the scroll. Yes, almost there!
It was then that he heard a loud groan, and the "plup" sound stopped. Shoot, the guard was done!
Through the darkness, he heard a chastisement.
"Yuriy, you're disgusting! How could you get off like that while we're on the watch for this Kozan fellow? For all we know, he could be close to the scroll already and we don't even know it!"
"Yeah, Yuriy, you idiot!"
No... you two are the idiots. The fact that they were all over there meant that there were no more guards between Kozan and the scroll. He rushed forward, summoning Nightblood to enhance his speed. He had a small window of time...
He placed his hands on the scroll, and the room lit up. Mission complete.
