Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK] - Page 2 Empty Re: Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK]

As Etch jumped towards Kariya with his foot out, Etch saw how the man's back was turned agaisnt him. Was he in a Genjutsu or something? What the hell....Okay quick review. This guy obviously is a swordsman of high caliber, and he used no elements that Etch could think of or percieve. What jutsu would allow Kariya to have his back facing the opponent and do damage? Could it be....The Reverse Beheading? Etch wasn't too sure, but from his learnings of the Jutsu Enclycopedia, it could of been that. No other jutsu used such a unorthodox way of fighting which he could think of. Like seriously, facing your opponent in the opposite direction? It's either genjutsu or reverse beheading, and no one is around to use Genjutsu. However, either way Etch's plan was going well, now even better then before. The stage was set. He got so close and packed himself to the toes with dangerous weapons because he was preparing a substitution jutsu with the rocks around the field. He was already prepared to use dynamic entry, and both his hands were packed with weapons to assault Kariya. Everything actually went as he hoped for. As the predicted Reverse Beheading came, Etch already was in the process of substituting with the rocks around Kariya, giving off the illusion that Etch was hit. This choice of jutsu for Kariya was also bad, seeing as he was now facing the opposite direction, Etch reappeared in front of Kariya in the air, with his momentum still going. Etch was at point blank range now, after substituting behind him, and was aiming for Kariya's face just like how Kariya aimed for his. Etch's Dynamic Entry went at a whopping 20 speed and 39 strength, making it quite the difficult task for Kariya to deflect facing literally a boot in the face. Etch had his right hand to cover his face, and his left to cover his stomach, just for protection. The Kunai served no other purpose since this attack most likely caught Kariya by suprise, and he was already in checkmate to Etch's eyes. When the attack would connect, Etch could expect himself to soar with Kariya through the sky, before stopping his own resistance and standing straight up, in a combat stance. However, if Kariya somehow managed to dodge this attack, Etch would land on the ground, and stand in a countering stance with his two kunai as defense. To Etch however, this seemed like a direct hit no one could potentially counter or dodge.

Oh the substitution jutsu, what a horribly annoying thing, something that low level shinobi use more than their toilet. It is a technique that can catch many well trained individuals off guard under the proper circumstances. Sadly however, these were not the proper circumstances. Having been focused on Etch's chakra signature this entire time, monitoring the ups and downs of his stamina, as well as keeping track of his location easier. This of course instantly alerted Kariya to the seemingly instant appearance of Etch directly in front of him, leaving him just a fraction of time to react, something he would not waste. Seeing as how Etch was aiming his kick for Kariya's face he would simply lower himself under the foot, waiting for him to pass over before quickly spinning around to face his back. Surely Etch had noticed the weakness of this technique the last time. It kept him moving in one direction and suspended in the air, an easy target for an attack to the back.

Swinging his stick horizontally towards the back of Etch's head with amazing speed he intended to harm him just enough for him to get the message that he would have lost by now if this were a real fight. Hopefully however that would not discourage the boy from continuing.

Waiting for him to land Kariya would release his left hands grip on the stick, only holding it with his right as he pointed it at Etch. "You have promise, but you don't have the experience to know when a technique has weaknesses"His words were simple but his tone was similar to that of a teacher, as if he was giving him a lesson. "I know there must be more to that odd ability where you regenerate your chakra. I want you to show me that power, give it every last thing you have". Smiling slightly it was obvious that he was getting excited. After all, if he had not learned how to sense chakra and been focusing on the boys, then it would be likely that he would be badly injured right now. It had been a while since he had fought somebody clever enough to almost slip past his defenses. And knowing that the tournament for genin was coming soon, Kariya was thinking maybe he could teach Etch a thing or two to help him win. Out of all the genin he had met, it sure seemed like this one deserved a promotion more than the rest.

Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK] - Page 2 Empty Re: Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK]

Sun Oct 18, 2015 3:35 pm
Dammit, this guy just wouldn't give up. Etch was trying to gain the upper hand against him, but Etch just couldn't do so. Kariya always had something up his sleeve to stop that from happening, being quicker, stronger or whatever. And what is this talk of him being able to sense Etch's stamina. He can see that?! Etch has been keeping it quiet for so long, waiting for the tournament, and now he knew about it somehow? This whole time, Etch has been thinking he was battling another Genin....Maybe he was something more. And on top of that, he was probably a sensory type if he was able to sense Etch's stamina replenishing itself. Good thing though he didn't know how he was doing it, but Etch felt calling it a jutsu wasn't gonna work out.

Along with this man knowing of his stamina recovering somehow, Etch also was in a bad situation once again. Kariya was right, Etch didn't know much about weaknesses or knew how to notice them, but still he was in a tight situation and had to get himself out. Luckily, Etch had a rough image of who he was fighting before him. Etch could tell the man would most likely be able to counter most of his attacks, and was a powerful force. Though Etch was already prepared to counter back, sensing the counter from Kariya. He just knew something like this was going to happen. Etch had to admit, his opponent was superior. And it also made it seem like he was of a higher rank then Etch, but still he wasn't prepared to give up. He was never going to give up! Etch was fully prepared and ready himself to fight Kariya and prove a opponent that can defeat him. Now, along the sides of Kariya wanting him to release his powers, well that would be unfair now would it not? First and foremost, Etch wanted to surprise all of the Genin in the tournament and the Kazekage with his bloodline ability, and use it as a surprise attack so the people would have little time to counter against it. Etch also didn't know if this man was a Genin either, but one way or another Etch was saving it all for the tournament. Finally, if Kariya was going to hold back on Etch, then Etch wanted to do the same. He wished to see how far he can go against this Kariya without his powers, in order to just see how well he can do without it. Etch didn't want to depend on it at all, but it would be a good thing to have just in case. However, Etch was prepared to give everything he had against Kariya, aside for the Sage Transformation. He was glad to find a man like this though, he was a formidable and respectable opponent, who Etch was beginning to like. Hell, if the guy taught him some stuff, Etch was sure he could win the tournament!

As Etch turned his head to witness Kariya's next attack, he knew there was no way to avoid it. His back was against him, and Kariya was coming in too fast. It wasn't like Etch was quick either or anything, so Etch was gonna have to take another hit. Already in a counter like pose, Etch turned his body to the left to try to counter the stick with his left handed kunai. Etch knew it wouldn't be able to completely be countered, but Etch could at least stop the momentum at least and direct it to another direction. As Etch raised his kunai to direct it towards Kariya's right, Etch was going in for a sweeping kick with his right leg. The sweeping with his right leg allowed him to have enough momentum from the twisting of his body to barely evade Kariya's attack. Though it still hit him a little, the fact that he was shifting his body lower to the ground and using his kunai to stop the momentum allowed Etch to gain a injury not very noticeable to his left shoulder. Etch was going in for the right leg sweep for the reason that he needed to adapt to the situation at hand. He knew now some of the drawbacks of having Jutsus, being weaknesses. Well, this sweep was towards Kariya's own legs, the support which kept him up. Etch knew the man most likely would jump from the sweep, and Etch quickly thought to throw a kunai in his left hand towards the man if he was in the air, but stopped the thought. Etch wasn't intending to hurt Kariya, his new friend. That would just be going too far, besides the man had a stick! Instead, Etch decided to once the sweep was in motion, Etch would then use his right hand as a support while close to the ground, in order to spin his body and land a spinning kick towards Kariya's chest with his left foot. Acting more as a feint now, the right sweep allowed Etch to preform a leaf whirlwind. While his right hand was being used as a support, his left hand came back up thanks to the shift of his whole body. He decided to use the left hand as a defense against Kariya's free left hand. At this point Etch was being held up from the ground with his right hand, back to the stick, and right foot going for a sweep as his body twisted for a left kick to the gut, becoming a Leaf Whirlwind. Etch wasn't too worried about the stick being a threat, seeing as he would most likely have to lift it and bring it down again since it was traveling down to the sand, but Kariya's left hand required Etch to use his left as a defense for any taijutsu he may commence. Also, he had to plant his kunai in his right hand sideways, in order to be retrievable once Etch got up, having to also get a grip of sand alongside his kunai due to the fist he would make acquiring it.

Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK] - Page 2 Empty Re: Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK]

Able to twirl himself around in the middle of the air and still have time to partially defend himself. This was impressive, most genin on his level would have simply been struck and tumbled to the ground. Not Etch however, he seemed above such weakness for now. However, regardless of his defense, Kariya was not stupid, he knew a counter attack would come quickly. Propeling himself backwards he narrowly avoided the first sweeping kick, ending whatever combo Etch was attempting. If he could remain out of range with his superior speed and only moved in to attack then Kariya would surely have the upper hand. Not giving his opponent time to counter to keep him safe to continue attacking without restraint. The idea of using ninjutsu rolled around in his head for an instant even, but it was quickly decided that this wouldn't do, as using a shinobi technique was not something Kariya liked very much.

Holding the stick only in his right hand he seemed to relax, his tense muslces softening greatly. His expression changed as well, giving Etch a friendly smile. Kariya had decided to stop at this point, as he had learned the general skill of this shinobi and he was impressed enough to respect him for what he was, a genin. "You fight with much intensity, more than I can say for even some of the more senior shinobi. I like that about you, you seem to have a fire in your eyes that I haven't seen in a younger person in quite some time". His words were honest and straight forward, no deception hidden within them, he honestly enjoyed the short spar. It had been some time since somebody had given him excitement, and he thanked Etch greatly for that. "Perhaps, before this tournament for genin starts we could do this again, and maybe I'll teach you something. However, for now I only wish to ask if you'll join me for a meal". Bowing to Etch in respect he would slowly begin walking towards the exit of the training grounds. He had already thought of many places to have a meal by the time he exited the grounds. But only one seemed appropriate for this time, and that was his favorite sushi stand in the village. It was an expensive place for sure, as fish was obviously rare in these desert lands. But the preparation and taste put into each bite was well worth the cost. It was here of course that Kariya could also have a cup of sake to relax.

Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK] - Page 2 Empty Re: Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK]

(Sorry for the long wait I'm actually sick right now and been in little mood to RP as much XD)

As Kariya jumped back to evade his kick, Etch knew that was the last strand. He was still on the ground and not as fast as this superior Shinobi, and if Kariya wanted to he could of ended this battle. Instead, Etch was surprised at him ended the fight. He wasn't sure why, it felt like the fight only lasted a moment. Then again, it's probably been hours. Experienced ones can sense these things, Etch was unable to. As Etch began to stand at the signaling end of the battle, he was surprised to here the words out of Kariya's mouth. He only ever saw himself as a regular Genin and nothing more, it was quite odd to see praise from just being creative. Then again, probably most people lacked that on the battle field. Etch was happy that he was respected for his battling skills.

Thank you Kariya. I just uh,fight the way that feels most natural to me is all."

Etch was very excited and happy to just be praised at all. It's not everyday a skilled Shinobi would do such a thing. And now, he was inviting him to some food! That would be great, his stomach was feeling a bit low on juice after the whole spar. He also was excited to be able to be taught a few things for the tournament. Though the way he said it, it was quite obvious Kariya wasn't a Genin at this point. Through his skill, Etch would of easily guessed Jounin, not knowing how powerful they were. But also, the whole time Kariya was holding back, so he had but no clue what to guess. Either way, he was just invited to a meal and Etch wasn't planning to pass it up. "Sure I'll eat with you. And hopefully you'll be able to train me in some jutsu before the tournament after all!" Etch accompanied Kariya after he set off towards the training ground exits. He wasn't too sure where exactly they were going, but Etch was fine with anything. He was hungry after all, and also he didn't really have a bad taste for any food. Etch was just glad he befriended a strong friend who was kind and can also help him out for the future. Hell, maybe they could go on missions together once they're the same rank! By then, Etch's kunai's were already back in his weapon pouch and everything was taken care off. His hands were in his pockets as he walked with Kariya, hair breezing through the sandy wind.

Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK] - Page 2 Empty Re: Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK]

Sitting down on one of the chairs in the sushi stand, pulling out a seat for Etch, his newest associate. Leaning his stick against the chair he was seated on he would raise his hands to rest them on his lap. Waiting for the chef to take notice of him he would bow slowly in respect before placing his order. "I would like a large bowl of rice and a dozen sushi rolls" he spoke before giving the chef a friendly smile of appreciation. Waiting for Etch to place his own order, Kariya would take in the magnificent smell of the food. The spices and smell of raw fish could be considered putrid by most, but to Kariya it smelled like a well prepared meal, something that heavily reminded him of home. After all, catching fish in the frozen lakes of his homeland was one of the easiest sources of food for himself and his family. This made sushi a very common meal in their household, and one that was appreciated, as Kariya's mother knew how to make it well. This stand on the side of the road was the only one he had visited that even came close to the taste of his mothers meals. It was incredibly odd however, considering it should likely taste horrible as fish is not a readily available resource to this village.

"So Etch, tell me a bit about yourself, I'm quite interested in what pushed you to become a shinobi. Though I don't expect you to give such information on your past without me doing the same. So, I was born in the Land of Iron, a nation ruled by samurai. I was one of them, and so was my younger brother, as for my older, he became something I can't quite describe. After years of fighting among warring clans we all left. We ended up in this vast desert and were nearly killed do to thirst. Luckily however we were saved by some of the shinobi from this village. Due to them saving our lives we decided to join Sunagakures military. After only a few months me and my brothers worked our way from the academy to our current ranks of chuunin. I assume it will not be long until we all reach the more elite ranks of this village due to our experience, but that is all in due time. And of course, I do not plan to ascend the ranks faster than necessary, as I am only here to serve those who saved me and my brothers lives."

Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK] - Page 2 Empty Re: Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK]

Etch took note in the navigating skills Kariya was making around the village. Seemed like he knew his way around quite a bit, and knew exactly where they were eating. As Etch witnessed Kariya take a seat in this stand he somehow never noticed before, Etch was hit by a wave of the smell of fish and food. There was actually such a thing in these parts? Etch never thought there to be a food stand specializing in Sushi at Suna, the land surrounded by deserts. He began to wonder if it tasty sandy, or was somehow bathed in sand on the transportation to the village. Whenever Etch thought of Suna, water was the last thing on his mind. That including fish. Still, on his travels to find this village, sushi was quite the delicious food to him, so Etch didn't mind at all. Taking a seat, Etch heard Kariya order his meal and waited for himself to order as well. Dumbfounded at being put on the spot instantly, Etch had no clue what to order. He never visited this place before, or even knew about it. Though, Etch was able to allow his stomach to speak for him. The sound of a dozen sushi rolls sounded wonderful to Etch, however he knew he could probably eat more. It wasn't a competition, but Etch personally saw food as his second favorite pastime instead of combat and training. And also, the recent workout had him feeling hungry, so as he took a seat and was being waited on to order, Etch made his decision. "Two dozen sushi rolls please. Oh and also some tea if you have any." Etch concluded his order with a relieving sigh, feeling the glaring eyes of patience from Kariya and the shopkeeper wash away with his reply. Etch wasn't expecting to find himself in such a situation that day. He was expecting a good spar session and training after, he never thought about food. However, Kariya's friendly manners seemed to be able to persuade Etch to accompany him.

After Etch managed to order his food, he was surprised by the statement given by Kariya of his past and wanting to know his. Etch knew it would be obvious that those type of questions and insights of one another's past would be something to speak of at that moment, but he just never believed it would happen. His recent encounters with people haven't been as nice and lively as such, so it was just a new breath to come to. Kariya seemed to have a interesting story behind him. As he told his story, Etch couldn't help but notice the shopkeeper disappearing into the back in order to make what Kariya and himself asked for. Etch was extremely hungry after catching a whiff of the fish, however was also intrigued with what Kariya was saying. The tea he ordered came out a while after he made his order, so Etch was able to drink that while listening to Kariya's story. The tea was pretty hot, but it's enriched honey flavor gave Etch a pleasant face and relaxing manner. After Kariya's insight on his past seemed to be ending, Etch thought about how his life was before being a Shinobi, and what made him to be one. It was surprising how it changed so easily after his Genin Exam, but still Etch decided to meet the standards Kariya made about himself. Or go above it. He set down his tea beside him, and began his tale of the past which felt like just a day ago. He also realized he had to apologize for his attitude towards there spar, him being a Chuunin and such.

" Whow Kariya. Let me first start off by saying I had no clue you were of the Chuunin rank, my apologies for attacking you so menacing." Etch held up a hand and bowed his head out of feeling embarrassed and unintentionally being that way to a superior officer. " My tale didn't start too long ago. But let me start back awhile ago. So, I'm not really sure where I was born. Or at least who to. Basically my whole life I was completely oblivious to who my parents were, or my clan all together. I was raised inside of a minor village, surrounded by a forest. They treated me like family and took care of me as long as I ran errands for them. You know, the typical errand boy. That was me. They were a nice village, all of them. It's not like I was handed off to them and given responsibility, they just found me in the middle of no where and took me in. Anyway, while living there, this old secluded area behind the village had a nice river and plain like area. I spent most of my days there, just playing around and I guess acting like a super hero. I daydreamed and fantasized for days to be one of those strong people who everyone recognized as a strong and powerful ally, who took down armies of enemies. Anyway, my village at the time had no ninja but I heard many stories about them. Intuition kicked in, and it made me want to become one badly. It also made me realize my dreams of being that strong force could be possibly, and also the village I was in was pretty boring. I loved combat and becoming strong, and that place just never allowed me to do it. I just needed a kick to go on my journey, and one day it happened. I was met by a bear in that secluded area I was talking about earlier, and thought I was done for. But then I got angry, and frustrated that my dream would be ended so soon without me ever having a chance to try it out. Then-" Etch stopped at that moment, realizing he was rambling and going on. He never knew he was the rambling type, but just his past seemed like a fairy tale. His dream has come true and he is what he wants to be and can become even more. Though that also isn't why he stopped talking. At that moment in his past his sage transformation kicked in and he killed the bear. No one in the village knew about the sage transformation inside of him, except for Kariya he supposed, being aware of its replenishing effects. Still, Etch couldn't end it there. He wouldn't tell Kariya about the powers he held, not out of fear. Etch was a trusting guy, and he for sure trusted Kariya, however this power just was a odd occurrence. He heard about how people get hunted for there special kekkai genkai, and Etch knew his was definetly not common. However, he pushed this thought in the back of his head, knowing it would be revealed at the tournament most likely. Etch took another sip of tea and continued on. " Then I managed to kill it. Sorry about rambling so much. Anyway basically, I took this feeling and sought upon the major villages to become a ninja and fulfill my dream, to be strong and fight all day long, the two things I love. Found Suna, and was happily accepted by the Kazekage. Now here I am, sworn to protect my village with my strength, and be a well known force on the battlefield for Suna!" Etch was very passionate about his past and knew found loyalty to Suna. He planned to help them out to the best of his ability. He also felt a little bad about holding out on his power, then again maybe he could trust Kariya with his info. Kariya was definetly a good and respectable man. Etch took another sip of his tea, finding it almost empty already. Etch decided to order another one, as his stomach continued to growl for food.

Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK] - Page 2 Empty Re: Training session with the Aging Samurai[Kariya,NK]

Raising a hand to Etch as he attempted to apologize for the fury he fought with against a superior. "You need not ask for forgiveness, the effort you put into our short spar was what made it interesting in the first place". Most genin were different, they would have hardly gave Kariya anything of their full potential and be swept aside. This is why the majority of this rank was uninteresting to Kariya, they had no heart for battle, they didn't feel its pounding rhythm and fight at that pace. Etch's ability to do so showed his potential, he didn't limit himself in battle to a fault, only enough to not reveal all his secrets to the enemy combatant. The skill to do so with such a small amount of experience was something this village could use more of.

As for Etch's back story, it was uneventful for the most part. Sounding as if he grew up like any normal child for the most part, other than the fact he seemed to have been abandoned by his true parents. This made Etch an orphan in Kariya's eyes, he had no father or mother figure in his life, just a village full of people that told him what to do. This was no way to be raised, and he was lucky he turned out independent and determined to live out his dreams. He could have easily ended up being some broken child on the side of the road beating villagers down for pocket change because of his upbringing and lack of a teacher in his life. Luckily though, this was not the case, instead he was respectable, easily more so than others of his rank. After all, the majority of genin in this village seemed to be power hungry shits who didn't deserve the rank they already held. If they would have been born in the Land of Iron they would be peasants, growing rice for true warriors. As Etch took a small pause in his story, Kariya would take the opportunity to gesture towards the chef as he prepared their meals, asking for a bottle of sake. Having the chef place it down on the counter in front of him he would pop the top off and take a quick swig. Pulling a pipe out from deep in his kimono he would stick it in his mouth, all before Etch could even continue. Listening as he spoke of defeating the bear and coming to Suna. Lighting his pipe he took a few puffs from it, contemplating the bear. The reason Etch had hesitated to tell the story of the bear was obvious, he had something to hide about that incident. However, Kariya had no way of figuring out exactly what information Etch was holding from him.

"It seems like you didn't have the easiest upbringing, I'm grateful you turned out to be a respectable young man instead of some vagrant with no dreams". His words were simple, but held true appreciation towards what kind of person Etch was, regardless of if he held some information on his past secret. Though that can't be a reason to judge an individual, as everybody has secrets. Hell, Kariya has so many secrets it would take him a full day or two to get them all off his chest. Looking towards the chef he would nod as he set down both of their meals, immediately pulling a few coins from his kimono, handing them to the man and bowing. Picking up his pair of chopsticks he would begin slowly eating the sushi and rice. Watching Etch from the corner of his eye as he did so, though not to keep an eye on him, just making sure he was paying attention if he started conversation again. The meal, was simply delicious, the smell, the taste, everything could only be described as perfect. How a bunch of desert dwellers were able to do such a thing with a meat that wasn't even available was beyond him. Obviously they had spent a ridiculous amount of time and money refining these skills. This of course also made them quite wealthy, as they easily had one of the largest food stands in the village, and patrons seemed to enter and exit its confines regularly. Kariya had already spotted two different groups enter after him and Etch did, and one other seemed to be approaching from the distance. "So Etch, tell me" he spoke, slowly setting down his chopsticks "What would you plan to do with the rank of chuunin, for I'm sure you intend to enter the tournament, yes?".

This man carried wisdom throughout himself. Experience and wisdom, Etch could tell the least. His actions during his story seemed to be quite normal and calming. Etch observed as it all happened. As he finished he story, Etch only hoped Kariya didn't catch onto his pauses during the story, though he felt like that was impossible. His actions during it all also made him wonder of his back story a little more detailed, Etch saw that Kariya must of been through a lot before being here. Etch began to wonder what it was like in the Land of Iron. Kariya made it seem like the place was full of war and affairs. He knew it was a samurai ruled area now, but was it one of the major villages? It seemed as if Sunagakure was more peaceful then the Land of Iron. Crazy, how this ninja world is. The world outside the gates must be a tragic one. Etch was though quite thankful for Kariya's appreciation of himself. He never thought about how he could of turned out bad giving his upbringing. He did assume however others could be different, but when Etch has a fire stored in him he can't let it go and has to aim for it. It only made but sense to follow his dream, it was the only option in Etch's eyes. Kariya seemed to respect and value Etch highly, seeming as if he was different. Etch didn't notice this unorthodox attraction about himself, but was being made apparent something may be there. He also had to give it to Kariya, Etch always assumed for some reason the higher ranks may be rude people who cared little about lower ranks. But it seemed like Kariya was significantly more different. He cared and was willing to spar with Etch. Though he did hold back, it was for good reason of course. He also seemed quite intrigued of Etch, though this also made him realize he didn't know as much about Kariya. It seemed as if he knew more of Etch. Was this a wisdom thing? Were older folk able to catch on and see glimpses of the younger ones talent, or was Etch just lacking that ability? It seemed to be quite a questionable thing to worry about.

" Well it's alright. I would assume I had one of the better upbringings. It could of been much worse. I don't mean to speak out of line, but compared to your past I'm guessing mines was a lot more laid back and care free. Along with your younger brother's. You two had to fight for your lives, while I had to just work for mines. Still, I could what you're saying. Though when it comes to me, I can't let go a dream like that. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I didn't try to do things my way and live the life I wanted. So it was like fate to be brought here, no matter what." After thinking of what he said, Etch began to chuckle a little. He was sounding as if his life was graceful. It definelty wasn't that, still wondering how it was to have a real family who took care of you out of love. " I don't wanna act like I'm all wisdom or anything, but sadly I can't change the past. It would of been nice to actually know my parents, but that's just too bad. I'll just keep moving forward, and living my life out the best I can. They had did things for a reason, wherever they may be." This made Etch wonder about Kariya's own parents. How was he feeling about his, did he even know his own parents. Etch never wanted to be rude or lack manners, it was something he valued highly. As the shopkeeper came out with his food, Etch thanked the man and payed his fair, and began to grab his plate and chopsticks. The sushi was quite delicious, a lot of different ingredients were put into this that made it good. Etch never been to a sushi shop before, or knew much about fish. Etch began to wonder what type of fish this was, and the other components inside of it. He seemed to be oblivious to the outside world, his only focus being the Sushi. It was that tasty. Before he managed to ask Kariya about it, he was brought with the tough question about being a chuunin. It seemed like a question that needed thought, but Etch already knew what to say. "Hmm... Well yes I plan to enter the tournament, and I plan to do my best to win and go as far as possible. The reason why I came to this village is because I wanted to be able to fight and live out my fantasys and what not. However when I became a Genin, my proctor showed me I should aim to protect the Village with my new strength, and get stronger for this place. So that's what I'm aiming for when I become a Chuunin. With my new title and abilities, I'll be a better asset to the Village, and be able to do more for the Kazekage and our villagers. I'll also be able to help out the new Genin coming in, and guide them to realize there true purpose as a Ninja. It isn't all about the power, but how you act as a Guardian of the village. So I suppose helping the Village in a better position, and being a role model are my two reasons.

Etch was extremely satisfied with his answer, and stayed true to it. He spoke from his heart, and how he felt. He wouldn't lie, at first he came here for power. But what else could you expect from a child who knew nothing of the Shinobi world, and only knew of the power they can obtain? Now he wanted to help protect them. Though it can be argued Etch held no allegiance to the village, they have people who can help him, and have helped him in the past. They also made Etch able to follow his dream, and now his dream is also to protect those who made him how he is today. It was a good system in his eyes, one he would try to follow, though he still did love combat. Etch had another one of the amazing sushi rolls. " By the way Kariya, what are these sushi rolls made of? They're delicious!" Etch felt right at home with Kariya. It was a nice friendship the two had together. Etch also wondered while having another sushi roll, what Kariya believed to be a Chuunin. Did he give a good explanation, or was there something more? Etch had to know. "Also, what is a Chuunin's purpose in your eyes? What do they have to do, or should do with there title." Etch began to eat a few more sushi rolls, and sipping on the tea that was beside him.

His initial response was valid, as it was truthful. Etch surely did not have the worst of upbringings, but that did not mean it was a cake walk. Growing up without a father or mother is extremely harmful to a childs development. Many orphans have feelings of abandonment. This of course leads many of them into feelings of anger and deprssion. Feelings that can easily set a child on a path of crime and hate. It was not uncommon in the Land of Iron for children to have their parents be killed by either battle or nature itself. This is caused the children to grow hateful of humanity, and eventually commit terrible crimes. Groups of children often forming bandit gangs, gangs that would eventually be wiped out by the samurai native to the land. A parent not being there for their children breeds nothing but sorrow for everybody. As for Kariya and his brothers, sure, their life was not easy by any means, except for possibly his older brother Hato's. However, they all had one advantage, they had loving parents, parents who raised them properly. Parents, who would have gladly gave their lives to protect them. This is a comforting thing for a child to know, understanding that despite what happens and what they do, somebody will always be there for them. Orphans do not know this love, this comfort, and despite the fact their lives were grueling, they still had that single, most important comfort. This is something that Etch may never experience in his life. Something that could have made him a horrible person.

As for his answer to the question of what he would do with the rank of chuunin, Kariya enjoyed his response. It was honest and he meant to help rather than hurt if he gained this new power from the higher rank. This was something Kariya had learned didn't happen too often in the shinobi world. Often those with power would rather harm those around them, rather than protect. However, for samurai power seemed to be handled more responsibly. Those who could protect others did, and did so very effectively. Etch seemed to hold that same virtue, wanting to protect rather than destroy. This of course pleased Kariya greatly, as he could relate. Growing up in the Land of Iron taught him a few things of course. Loyalty, for one, it was important andcompletely necessary if one is willing to protect. Copassion was another, as it allowed him to feel for those around him, and thus know when others were in need and do what was necessary to aid them. Kariya could see these virtues within Etch and it made him feel as though this boy was a flower that needed to be nurtured. And of course, if it was done properly, then perhaps Etch would bloom into a powerful individual, and one who was incorruptible. That was a thought that made Kariya rather happy, and one that got him thinking more. Perhaps he himself could be the one to guide Etch through that path, and perhaps doing so could bring some semblance of peace. This of course was only a thought that passed through Kariya's mind. He did not know this boy well enough to determine if this future was possible. He would need to get more involved in his daily life. Perhaps he could even take on some sort of fatherly role. However, Kariya also didn't know if it was his place to do so. Perhaps Etch would prefer to just continue on alone. Kariya would have to test the waters for a rather long time before he could finally attempt to take on a teaching role.

"The sushi rolls are made from raw salmon, along with scallops and squid with rice. They also use dried seaweed as the wrap for the sushi. Sadly however I have no clue what spices they use here. If I did know I'd spend however much money it took to get sea food here so I could make it for myself" he spoke, finishing with a smile and a chuckle. This however was when Etch decided to ask a more serious question. A question that Kariya felt was necessary to answer truthfully. "I believe that a chuunin's purpose is one of vigilance over the people of the village. Sure, that could be said about any shinobi, from genin to the kazekage himself. However, I believe it is especially important for chuunin. They are low enough on the totem pole to fight in the front lines, but high enough to make tough decisons and lead. While a kage, or anbu member, or jounin may be called away from combat due to their rank because they could be more useful outside of combat, chuunin must constantly be there, to protect those who depend on them. Chuunin, as well often get the largest chunk of a villages work load, as missions that require jounin or higher level combatants don't arrive often. In this sense a chuunin is typically the front line of any confrontation, and not only do they need to protect civilians, it is also often their job to protect genin. That is how I personally view the rank of chuunin, and how I view my own duties as a member of such a rank". Kariya spoke with what seemed like a fire in his eyes, as if he believed in what he was saying fully. A chuunin who was not vigilant was no chuunin at all, and despite not having been raised in such a military system, his years in battle gave him a greater understanding of how the ranks in villages worked, despite him only living here for a few short months. Focusing back in on his meal Kariya began to eat again, taking his time, savoring each bite. However he didn't have much left and he was shortly only left with his bottle of sake. Taking a few more drinks it seemed like he held his drink well. He didn't have any noticable dulled expression so common among the drunk, Despite having drank nearly half of a sizeable bottle of sake. However, even knowing Etch wasn't near drinking age, Kariya slowly raised the bottle towards Etch. Nodding his head he intended to give Etch a chance to take a drink. The reasoning for this was obvious, he saw Etch as responsible enough to drink more than he could handle, or even not drink any sake at all.
