Chuunin to Genin: Air Jutsu!

As Jack walked to his training ground, he was much more eager to begin training. He had convinced a chuunin to teach him some C Rank jutsu.  First up on the list was air bullets, fairly simple. When Jack arrived at the training spot, he realized he was early, and decided to do a bit of training on his own while he waited for his teacher to arrive.  He started by doing some laps around the training area to warm himself up.  After a couple of those, he started doing jumping jacks to get his blood flowing through the rest of his body.  After all of those were done, he sat down for a few minutes, and repeated the exercise.  He would do this for ten minutes, which was when training was supposed to start, and however much longer it took for the Chuunin to arrive.

Have you ever woke up only to stare at the ceiling for an hour? You don't quite know what time it is, but you know it's kinda early in the day but kinda late to just be waking up, and you know that you kinda sorta told someone that you'd teach then something but you kinda don't wanna get up out of bed just yet, so you lay there and kinda stay half awake. That was Risako at the moment.

After that long, half asleep hour, Risako rolled over and tossed her blanket off of her. Knowing today wouldn't be too rough, she disn't bother to get into uniform. Instead, she left her house in her sleeping clothes, a loose black shirt, and long baggy shorts. Her bare feet slapped against the ground as she sprinted off towards the training ground.

Fortunately, this wasn't one of the academy training sessions where Risako was partnered with a random genin or student that she had to pick out from the crowd. Nah, this time, she had already been somewhat acquainted with her student, enough to recognize him at least. For now though, she stopped on the edge of the ground and waited for him to come to her.

Jack stopped in the middle of one of his laps as he saw the Chuunin who had agreed to train him at the edge of the training grounds.  Risako Akara, he believed her name was. They had spoken shortly in the village before setting up this training session.  She seemed nice enough, and could definitely beat him in a fight.   This kind of reminded him of his first training session, with Ita.  " A little late, but that did give me time to get warmed up and awake. What do you think we should start with? I was thinking Air Bullets, since they're basic and useful." He was still fairly excited to start today, since he was going to start learning more powerful jutsu along with his first elemental jutsu.  Maybe I could even learn two today, he thought to himself as he awaited the Chuunin reply.  Today would be his most challenging training day so far, and he was certain it would be harder than his other training sessions.

"Okay." She cocked an eyebrow, as that greeting was rather straight forward. Down to business then, "You start with the bird hand seal, and from there you concentrate your chakra until the wind is compressed into a ball sized sphere." Her hands slowly came together, before snapping into the bird hand sign, then, as she said, she focused her chakra until the wind around her transformed into four separate little spheres, each was incredibly difficult to see, since they were composed of wind. "Wind techniques are mostly difficult to see, so you have to focus more on the image rather than the actual object itself." She then dispelled the technique.

"Start with one, and then go build your way up to making multiple simultaneously." With that, she'd plop down, and wait for her student to either complete the task, or ask questions.

As Jack made the bird hand seal, he focused his chakra into the air directly, forming it into a ball and launching it forward.  While it only traveled about three feet, it was a good first attempt.  As he began focusing another ball, he spoke to his teacher.  "How long did it take for you to become Chuunin?  I've been thinking about joining a team and going for a rank-up, since we haven't had a Chuunin exam in quite awhile." As he finished the sentence, he launched his second wind bullet, which only went five feet.  He thought about how he could use this in a combat situation, after he improved it a little bit.  It would work at a range, but it would be easier to dodge.  If he used it at close range, it would be nearly impossible to dodge, and much easier to aim.  All that didn't matter until he could do the technique properly, since it would be useless until then. As he performed the technique for the fifth time, he made it reach a full 12 feet, and continued his training till it could reach thirty feet, as quickly as he could.

Her eye lids fell shut, as Risako waited for the genin to complete his training. Which wasn't too difficult, nor was it too easy. Wind Bullets were manageable. Any shinobi with a modicum of chakra control could easily begin popping them out. Unfortunately, that also left them a tad bit unpowerful. Sure, they might kill regular civilians, and even injure most genin. But for most chuunin, they only left bruises or missed their mark. They neither hit hard enough or went fas enough.

For a few seconds after she closed her eyes, and her pupil began his practice, there was silence. Within those few seconds, Risako tuned out, trying to pay more attention to her surroundings using her other senses. At first, her ears picked up on the birds chirping, and the leaves rustling in distance, before being drowned out by the sound of compressed air weakly being propelled by the one in front of her.

Then she heard words, and her little attempt at using training her other senses was put on hold. An audible chuckle esaped from her throat. "Don't worry about becoming chuunin just yet. Worry about practicing until you've surpassed chuunin, then worry about becoming a chuunin. Makes it a little easier." as Risako attempted to remember the short period of time that she was a genin. "I suppose I was a genin for about two months, at the most. I was a part of a team that was sent to clear a bandit camp, and fortunately my teammates were more than sufficient."

As she finished up her statement, another small chuckle came forth, "Actually. I was the one that was lagging behind, they just made me look good enough to rank up. Normally it takes more than two months to escape the clutches of being a genin."

With one eye now open she watched her pupil attempt the jutsu again. After deeming the attempt a failure, as it didn't make it far, Risako decided to throw a few pointer to her the bright young man. "Imagine you're trying to blow spit wads at people. But with your chakra and the air around you rather than a spit wad and a straw."

As he listened to his teacher speak, Jack realized he had been doing it backwards, using the air as a spitwad and his chakra as the straw. When he switched to Risa's way, his bullet went thirty feet easy,with a good amount of force. " Thanks for the advice.".  She seemed to have ready went through everything he planned to, and knew how to do it right.  She would be a fairly useful ally, if he could stay in contact.  Which he of course planned to.

If that was all, then Risako would nod. As she started walking off, she'd say something along the lines of "Keep practicing at it, you'll nail it eventually."

Jack headed home soon after Risa left, satisfied with the days progress.
