Zakary's Lock and Surface Walking Training. O, NK

Zakary was sitting at the training grounds with a small box. He had picked it up from his house, formerly being used as a jewelry box for one of his aunts little jingly jangly earrings and necklaces. They were now piled on her dresser. This locking technique would also be helpful to him, for pranks, security, and probably restraints. Zakary took a moment to wonder if such a lock could be used on a jacket. His finger glowed blue as he jabbed it at the box, where it started to spread into a seal. Before it had even become whole, just as Zakary's pride began to swell, it receded. "You- No- Cheating!" he yelled, or stuttered loudly, at the box. His seal wasn't supposed to recede, he'd started to assume that he'd learn this as quickly as he had transformation. At this failure,he started to think about the last time he got frustrated with his errors with clone jutsu. This time, he very quickly calmed down. The feeling of his chakra leaving quickly enough to physically harm him was not one he'd soon forget. Instead, he just tried again. Slower, more carefully, and with more chakra regulation this time. The seal started to grow out into a full one, but slowly receded again. Zakary didn't get even slightly frustrated this time, instead intrigued by what could be causing these failures. He went back over his chakra control in his head; there was no way he had messed that up. How much chakra was he putting in? It was the average amount for what he'd have thought. His error dawned on him. It was the potency of his chakra. Never had Zakary thought that he'd have to worry about underestimating himself or any aspect there of. Before he got cocky this time, he had to see if his judging would work. This time, he used less chakra, and the seal formed properly. Instead of celebrating his newfound success over the difficulty of the jutsu,and instead tried to open the box. There was virtually no resistance. Zakary sighed, dropped the box, and buried his hands in his palms. For what wasn't the first time in the past couple weeks, he declared that being a ninja was difficult in a loud, almost whining voice.

After his moment of general negativity, he continued his training on the Fuinjutsu Lock. Zakary picked up the box, and looked at every side of it, faintly hoping for some sign of a shortcut. Because it was just a box, he saw nothing special. Setting it down in front of him, he tried once more and found some more resistance from the box. It was an issue of balance with his chakra. Too much wouldn't work and too little wouldn't properly seal it. Zakary kept trying until his finger start to hurt and he let out a sigh as he had before. This time, though, his determination had all but disappeared. He'd have to try this until it was right and he felt it was. A realization hit him like a brick; even if he did do the seal right, he'd not be able to tell because he wouldn't be strong enough to test it out. It would be all feeling his chakra right in the seal. Zakary could control his chakra well. There shouldn't be a problem with him knowing he'd done it. This time, he focused his chakra at a steadier rate, and the seal formed. It felt right. He tried to open it again, but to no avail. He tossed the box in the air, caught it, and smiled. Not only because he couldn't open it, or that he felt he'd succeeded in the jutsu. He had, but now his aunt wouldn't be able to open the box either, and that hadn't crossed his mind yet. He walked home smiling.
