Cat Tag

A couple of days had passed since Enyo had aided the man with his lumber gathering, he was now in the training grounds fairly motivated for some odd reason. He could not exactly tell why, but he had an itch to train some sort of taijutsu as this would be his life for quite some time he supposed he would make the best of it. Enyo wasn’t an optimistic person, but he couldn’t necessarily be considered the opposite either. All the money that Enyo had made from doing the other missions had been saved many he had 3000 Ryo, it wasn’t a lot for most people, but for Enyo it was a fair amount.

As he continued to punch the tree, left dist, right fist, they connected rustling the tree’s leaves a bit before he figured he should do a mission. He had been at the training grounds since morning which made the Hiyu’s at his current location slightly proud. When he first came here he had no clear aspiration to train for anything which slightly angered them for some odd reason. Must have been the spirit of battle or something, he had no clue. Taking a break he began to walk inside of the village known as Konoha.

It was a fairly peaceful day, that was until he seen a few cats running amok being chased by a few little children. “Haha, they look as though they are having fun.” Enyo said as he continued to walk towards the mission board being completely oblivious to the fact that they were trying to catch the cats. Finally making it to the wooden post board he could see all of the missions lay about the board, some had been taken, symbolized by the corner of the paper still being stuck to the board. It always made him wonder what those missions were, but he dismissed the thought as he looked for his own mission.

As Enyo’s eyes scanned the board he found a mission titled “Cat Lady”, it seems that she was missing her cats, they had a description of each. One was an all black cat that had green eyes and a white tipped tail, there was another that was orange and white with blue eyes, the third had all grey fur with blue eyes as well. Those three matched the description of the ones he seen the kids chasing, but there were two more as well. The last two seemed to be twins, they were white with black spots and the other one was black with white spots. “Interesting, well, I should go get the first three since I know their general location.” Enyo said ripping the paper off of the mission board.

From above the two cats he was supposed to catch were watching him, they were keeping watch of which person tried to take up the mission and now there game had begun. Enyo continued to retrace his steps until he saw the kids that were chasing the cats when he passed by the first time. “Hey kiddos, I was wondering what happened to the cats you guys were chasing?” Enyo would ask in a sincere manner. “Well, they are way too fast for us, they kept straight and entered that ally. They have a bad habit of stopping until you catch back up as if this were some game or something.” The kid said as he wiped some sweat from his forehead.

“Ah, I appreciate it guys. You did good.” Enyo would say walking towards where the kids had directed him. Just like they said the three cats were sitting there waiting for someone to come, at the sight of Enyo they vaulted over the fence that had to be at least 3 meters high. Enyo, one he seen this would take off after this clearing the fence with just one bound. With them at least 6 meters ahead of him he was able to see that they were quite agile, they would occasionally look back to see if he was still after them or not. Enyo figured he would use this against them. Once the cats turned their heads back around Enyo would use the surface climbing technique to jump on the side of the walls in the ally way. As he did this he would begin to pick up his speed before they turned around again, they hadn’t for quite some time so he took this chance to at least catch one of them. He decided to go for the grey one which was closest to him, all of the sudden he would hear a sharp meow causing all three of them to dodge out of the way. Enyo missing slid across the concrete with his arms ahead of him grabbing nothing but air.

“How? It sounded like it came from above me.” Enyo would say to himself looking up at the roof, he would see the two speckled cats peering down at them. “Hmph, I won’t be outsmarted!” Enyo said to the cats as if they could respond. To his surprise it seems that they would as they stuck their noses in the air and trotted off as if they were challenging him back. “Heh, this oughta be fun.” Enyo said as he continued to track down the cats that were waiting for him to catch back up. They would begin to run again once he got within 5 meters of them.

After a while Enyo would begin to see that this was getting nowhere, he knew he wouldn’t give up anytime and the same for them.He needed an edge against the cats, something they could do nothing about. This is when he remembered seeing one of his Hiyu clan members using a technique during sparring. All he did was breathe and his eyes turned white and he became a lot faster than he previously was. It always intrigued him on how he did it, but Enyo never asked. Figuring he would try this jutsu on his own and the cats wouldn’t leave just yet he knew he had time to complete this jutsu. As Enyo sat down and closed his eyes the cats would look at him as if questioning whether he gave up or not, Enyo would open his eyes fiercely to show them he wasn’t giving up. The cats above began to lay down on the edge of the rooftop looking intently to see what he would do.

As they waited Enyo would begin to breathe repeatedly, he knew it wasn’t just normal breathing, but it had to be some sort of chakra enhanced breathing. “It isn’t just the breathe either, what could it possibly be…” Enyo racked his mind trying to figure out what it was. He then jumped up causing all the cats to become startled. “I got it, it increased the lung capacity, there is no way it has to deal with chakra because taijutsu doesn’t really base itself off of that.” Enyo closed his eyes once more, but standing this time, he then thought of a fire inside of his body. As he took each breathe the flame grew and grew until it felt uncontrollable. When Enyo opened his eyes once more he couldn’t tell, but his eyes were completely white.

Now that he had the speed to catch the cats he would whistle to gain their attention, and as soon as they turned their heads Enyo would charge at them, immediately catching the grey furred cat. “Gotcha.” He would say letting the cat go, he knew this was basically a game of tag because of the rules they seemed to have set on themselves. As he looked back at the grey furred cat he could see that it was walking back as if it were going to it’s house defeated. “Seems I was right, 4 more to go.” Enyo said catching up on the other two cats on the ground. As he did so the cats could tell that the ally technique wasn’t going to work so they took to the streets and dispersed, Enyo went after the orange and white furred one first. They were weaving in and out of the crowd, Enyo had to be careful not to bump into anyone, as for the cat he didn’t care.

This gave him a bit of an advantage, but Enyo was still able to keep up. As Enyo could see the crowd was letting up at the end he jumped into the air crossing the rest of the crowd effortlessly, as he did so the cat would run right into his arms. “Two down, three to go.” Enyo would say letting the cat go. Out of the corner of his eye he could see the black cat with the white tail traversing the rooftops right passed him, Enyo would turn around and use the surface climbing technique to get up there and chase after the cat. The cat used juke-like moves around the top of the building until it slipped on a pebble that would cause it’s descent to the pavement.

Enyo could not allow this to happen so he jumped down with the cat grabbing him and using his breathing method to transfer speed into strength. Also utilizing his toy soldier transformation he used his fingers as a trampoline to pounce back on his hand once he hit the pavement. “Whew, I know cats always land on their feet but you gotta be more careful than that.” Enyo would say letting the cat down as he trotted off after nodding at him. “Last two, the most mischievous ones.” Enyo said as he hopped back on the rooftop. He knew they would be up here because that is where they had been this whole time. Around 15 meters from where he was he could see them staring at him. “There they go.” He said to himself as he began to close the distance.

Following them on the rooftops he could see that they had no intention of splitting up. This benefitted Enyo for the most part as he used the edge of the rooftop to propel himself grabbing both of the cat’s tails as he flipped onto the pavement with both of them in hand. “Gotcha little trouble makers. Fun’s over so go back home, actually, I’ll follow you there.” Enyo said as he let the cats go. Again the cats took off running to what seemed to be their house, once there Enyo could see all of the cats lined up on the doorstep. This is when Enyo would knock on the door awaiting the lady to come out.

Opening the door almost immediately he could see the woman looked distraught at first, but her facial expression changed as she looked down and looked at her cats all lined up one by one. “Mrs. Sunshine, Mr. Whitetip, Mr.Cloud.” She paused to look at the other two kittens before scooping them up as well. “The Dynamic Duo, Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” At this point Enyo could do nothing but laugh, not at the lady, but all of the other cats had special names and they were just “Smith”. Enyo found it pretty funny. “Well, there you are miss. I’m glad you were able to get your cats back. I’ll be on my way.” Enyo said, but as he was about to walk down the steps she would stop him by the shoulder.

“Oh, you can’t go just yet. Come inside so I can repay you.” She said turning him around. En you could not turn her down and he went inside. He sat at this table and awaited for the woman to return, she came back with some tea and crackers. “So how hard was it to catch them?” She asked. “Fairly, I had to use a jutsu I’ve never used before and that was what allowed me to catch them. I could tell that they were playing a game because they always stopped so they didn’t get too far off.” Enyo said. “Keen eyes, well here is your reward for winning the game.” She said giving him 1000 Ryo.

‘The game? You do this?” Enyo asked the lady. “Indeed, me and my cats need a little excitement y’know.” The lady laughed. “Well, the last time someone won was about 2 years ago, you are truly remarkable.” She said. “Thank you, I have to go now. It’s almost my bedtime back at home.” Enyo said getting up and bowing before leaving the house. He made it home and his body was tired once more, this was becoming a routine for him now as he drifted into sleep.
