A Day of New!

Love was up early running around the perimeter of the the village. The cool, spring like breeze felt good running through her long red hair and across her sweat misted face. Love lifted her arms, letting the air pass around them and past her sides, cooling her whole body. She then looked out at the incredible view provided by her location on top of Hokage Rock. Being so far from the ground gave Love an exhilarating rush, sort of like the feeling of electricity running through your entire body. While basking in this bliss Love suddenly felt nostalgic. As if she'd felt this rush before.

Thinking more on it made her remember her not too long ago mission where she used her lightning chakra for the first time since discovering it. As Love spent more time combing through her thoughts she realized she hadn't learned any of the really cool ninjutsu. This upset her, along with the memories of Oro. That guy really rubbed her the wrong way but Love was determined to get back at him, but to do that she would have to get faster. The only problem with that is that she didn't have anyone to train her...

The young kunoichi quickly ran home so she could think of away to gain speed without much training. "Jutsu? No it would take too long to do the hand seals." She thought as she showered and redressed. Love walked barefoot around her house until she decided to check out the books in her father's office. As she sat flipping through book after book, page after page, she found herself wandering away from things about speed and into sealing jutsu. The first one to catch her eye was a basic locking jutsu that could be used for doors or chests. This would've been helpful when I used to try finding my Christmas presents. Love thought to herself. 

She then looked around the room for something that she could practice this jutsu on. On her father's desk was a small box, it didn't have a lock but that's where this jutsu would come in handy. Love walked over to the desk and retrieved the item, then sat back down on the floor in her mess of books. She reread the page that described how it works. No hand seals? Love made an approving face, "Seems easy enough." The young Hyuga then sent chakra to her left index finger, not waiting to see if it would turn blue, and touched it to the closed box. Love waited a few seconds before removing her finger and trying to open the box.

"Darn." She exclaimed when the box opened. She looked from it to the book, "Makes an array..." She mumbled to herself as she tried again to perform the jutsu. Using the same finger Love sent her chakra through the whole thing instead of just the tip. She would continue to do this until it turned blue. "This would be so much easier if there was a hand seal." She complained and sighed to herself. This might just be the most boring training she'd ever experienced. "My fingers glowed instantly when I learned chakra anesthetic, of course that jutsu requires head seals." Another sigh escaped the girl's lips. She would sit trying to get her finger to turn blue for two more minuets before going to get a snack. "One hundred and eighteen Sakumos. One hundred and nineteen Sakumos. One hundred and twenty."

Once the last number came out of her mouth Love stopped the flow of chakra and stood up to walk to the kitchen. As she walked through the halls she noticed that it was unusually quiet in the house. Love shrugged it off, if there was anything important going on that she forgot about someone would've been sent to track her down. Having arrived in the kitchen the red haired girl opened one of the many cabinets. Rice, crackers, pasta, cereal, cookies, and other items that could be put together to make a meal lined the shelves. "Ooo cookies, but what kind..." Suddenly Love shut the cabinet doors and walked over to the refrigerator; Opening the freezer part Love pulled out a box of thin mint cookies, her favorite. The girl smiled to herself, popping one of the treats in her mouth. "Oh!" Love placed the box on the counter beside her and then pulled out two kinds of lunch meat, cheese, and mustard. She figured she'd have more reading to do once she got this jutsu down and would need something to snack on while she did so. Pulling the bread out of the bread box she began to make her sandwich; When done she put everything back, grabbed the box of cookies and went back to her father's office.

Again in the office she took to the floor. After popping another cookie into her mouth Love gave the jutsu another try. This time it worked, her finger turned blue and she touched it to the box she got off the desk. Dusting off her hands Love attempted to open it with no luck. "Perfect." She then turned the page to learn how to undo the lock. Love changed snacks while reading, taking a huge bit of her sandwich. It was practically dripping mustard, just the way she liked it, though she would have to be careful and not mess up any of the books. Love nodded after reading the description of what the jutsu does and it's side effects. A small, "Hmm.." Came from her when reading the requirements to break a seal.

Love took another bite of her sandwich and read the page once more before trying to break the lock. She dusted her hands off for another time and then placed her right index finger on the box as she used her other hand to eat another cookie. The taste delighted Love and made her smile. Staring at the box she wondered how long it would take this time, especially because the breaking jutsu didn't require the finger to turn blue. So trial and error would be the only way to know if she had mastered it or not. Love would have sighed but this time it was just a normal exhale; because she had food she wouldn't mind the wait, unless of course she ran out before completing the jutsu. The thought of that reminded Love that she hadn't gotten anything to drink.

If she had this wait would be nothing no matter how much longer than the first it took. As much as she might have wanted something to help wash down the sandwich Love was committed to be successful on her first try. So she would wait it out. The young kunoichi hummed as she ate, she also filled through the pages of the book she'd been reading. All while maintaining a steady flow of chakra to the box. It's a good thing she's a Hyuga, otherwise she would have to the jutsu her full attention and that would be a drag. Although it's only an E rank jutsu, fuinjutsu is not for the fainthearted.

After Love finished her sandwich she removed her finger from the box and tried to open it, no dice. "Hmm..." She thought to herself and then flipped back to the page detailing her current jutsu. "Oh." Love sat the box back on the floor and this time used both her index finger and middle finger on her dominant hand to cast the jutsu. Upon touch both fingers turned blue and she could see the array being disrupted and breaking. Once she was certain that it was completely broken she attempted to open the box. "On to the next one!" Love prompted herself when the box opened.

Flipping back to the page of a jutsu that caught her eye, Love read the page adjacent to it. There was a bunch more of interesting fuinjutsu that Love thought she might like to learn but right now wasn't the time. She decided to learn one more and then get back on track. Today's objective was to learn how to get faster in a short period of time and she couldn't afford to take any more detours. Love flipped a few more pages and found the seemingly most easy to learn tech. Now all she needed as a scroll... "There." Love spotted one on the shelf just in front of her. "How convenient." Love said cheerfully to herself with no inquisition about why it just happened to be right there when she needed it. She then pulled it off the shelf and unrolled it.

Next she placed the box on top of it and put her hand on top of the box. Letting her chakra flow Love waited for the box to disappear but it didn't. She scratched her head and ate another cookie. This time she did everything right so there's no reason for it not to have worked. "Maybe it's full?" She asked herself. Convinced that that was the reason Love rolled the scroll back up and put it back where she got it from. She would then run down the hall into the living room to see if there were any scrolls on the book shelf in there. "Nothing, damn it." She then ran to her parent's room, she was sure she saw her mother putting some in there a few days ago. "But where did she put them..." Love looked from one side of the room to the other. Walking over to the closet she slid the door open and then knelt down to open the built in drawers.

She rummaged through the first drawer but didn't find anything. In the second drawer she found a scroll but it appeared to be a journal. Love sighed, though luckily she found the new scrolls in the third drawer under a pair of paints. "I wonder if I'll need to write the sealing formula?" Love shrugged. It didn't matter her father had ink in his office, which she would happily speed back to. Once again on the office floor Love opened the new scroll and place the box on top of it. "I hope this works." Love said halfheartedly, she wasn't very confident that it would work since fuinjutsu wasn't really her thing. Not to mention she'd rather laze around while eating her cookies, one of which she would pop into her mouth as she refocused. Hopefully she'd learn this jutsu before she ate all of them, she'd hate to come home and not have any snacks.

Love sighed as she placed her hand on top of the box and let the chakra flow. She would wait for the array to show up and make the box disappear, before grabbing another cookie. "Sweet." Love said as she chomped down on the chocolate treat. She would then close and put the books back on the shelf and then re-roll the scroll and place it on the desk where the box should be. After putting what was left of her cookies back in the freezer and placing her plate in the sink, Love rushed out of the house to the training grounds. Surely someone there would be willing to train her.
