Komon's Bedrock Coffin
Wed Jan 11, 2017 1:35 am
Komon awoke to another monotonous day in the hidden cloud village, it had been some time since he had completed the fourth exam and he was still waiting on his results, However he knew that the fifth exam was the one that he had to worry about. Rumors constantly surrounded the village of its difficulty, and he knew that rumors in Kumo often had a bit of truth to them. If even a fraction of the rumors he had heard were true it would be awful for him. Komon never wanted to kill anyone, and every single iteration of the rumor had described the test as a kill or be killed mission. The mere thought of it sent shivers down his spine.
But as the shiver went down his spine Komon’s instinct for survival went through his mind, If it came to a kill or be killed situation he would justify it, he had to if he wanted to be there to protect the rest of his remaining family, it's what his father would have done, and it's what he would do in his place. Finishing his train of thought he walked over to his window already dressed, he had had a long day with training his brother Komori just the day before and it had left him exhausted. So exhausted that he had forgotten to change before falling into his bed and embracing the sleep that lay before him.
The view from his mirror however showed that it was time for him to forget about his sleep and get moving, his clothes had a certain stench to them that he wished to rid himself of so he started the day by taking a quick shower to rid himself of his odor he had gained through hard work yesterday. Then he went to his closet to pick up his mother's old suit of armor he had found in the chest with the rest of the hyuuga items. The suit was called invictus and on it it had three orbs, with Komons byakugan he could tell that the orbs were filled with chakra and wires that seemed to tap into the user's chakra system. He had worn it once and discovered that it seemed to amplify his chakra, a change he more than welcomed.
He slid the suit on with a bit of surprise when it seemed to fit perfectly, before looking over to see the helmet he had found with it, the helmet was modeled after a panthers face and it was crafted out of a seemingly lightweight metal, slipping it on over his head he peered through the eye slots, these slots gave the world a tinted blue look to it, but when Komon activated his byakugan everything looked exactly how it was supposed too. He had his full range of vision because he could see straight through his helmet thanks to the byakugan's abilities. Komon was completely dressed now and new he needed to head to the training grounds. He had arranged another training session with his former sensei Gorami, and he hated being late to anything.
Again Komon walked to his window to look out at the streets of the hidden cloud, this time however he opened his window pain, and jumped out onto the streets, a little while back he would have rolled with the fall to prevent injuring himself, but he had grown quite a bit and gained more than a little strength since then. The ground no longer presented a threat to him and he landed effortlessly on his feet, bending his knees as he did so. Now level with the rest of the village he began to walk down the clay streets to Goramis house, the indoor training room was going to be more than helpful for teaching Komon to master the technique his sensei had shown him earlier.
After a bit of walking he eventually made it to Gorami’s house, the house was much larger than Komons apartment and made him relatively jealous, he couldn’t wait to become a jounin the pay must be much greater than that of a gennins. After knocking on the door he had to wait what seemed like less than five seconds before his sensei answered. “What’s up Komon” He said as if he hadn’t been aware they were supposed to train before palming his own forehead. “Oh yeah, Come on in I completely forgot.” Komon laughed at his sensei's forgetfulness, it seemed to be a recurring trait of his, and it was one Komon was fond of, brought a bit of comic relief to his day.
As he made his way into Gorami’s house Komon couldn’t help but scan his surroundings, the interior of the house seemed just as expensive as the rest of the house and Komon couldn’t help but wonder what the Jounins pay was exactly. He seemed to be very wealthy to say the least. Once he was done being mesmerized by the man's house Komon turned to Gorami and asked him a relatively simple question. “So when do you want to get started” He would ask his former sensei only to be interrupted by the rather loud growling of his own stomach. The Jounin standing across from him had obviously heard it as his facial expression showed.
“In all your haste for this training you obviously forgot to eat” The jounin teased as he walked around a corner signaling Komon to follow him. When Komon turned the corner he was surprised to see a rather large Kitchen that only added to Komon’s envy. The sensei opened one of the white wooden cabinets to reveal a variety of food before pulling out what looked like two to three protein bars, “Here eat these then make your way to the dojo I assume you know your way from last time. Feel free to grab a drink as well” Gorami said before turning towards a door and disappearing behind it, leaving Komon alone in the kitchen.
Komon quickly chowed down on the protein bars to put his appetite into check. Once the growling subsided he decided the drink his sensei had offered was a bit unnecessary and turned back down the hallway taking the directions he had taken last time to find his way to the dojo. As he walked down the long hallway he saw the door that he had entered through in his last encounter with his sensei, reaching out with his hand he turned the knob and pushed the door forward revealing the magnificent Dojo he had learned mud spore in not long ago. As he walked to the center of the dojo he sat down and waited for his master to make his way to the room as well.
About thirty seconds passed before Komon was met with a surprise he had not expected, the earth around him had begun to rise at a speed he could not comprehend. Another one of sensei's training methods.. Komon thought to himself, and by the time he had finished it he had been completely enveloped in rock, outside of the rock Gorami’s muffled voice could hardly be heard. “This is a jutsu called Earth Release: Bedrock Coffin… It’s an air tight prison designed to trap your foes, I intend to teach it to you but first you’ll need to learn its power. It’s time for you to figure out the full extent of this jutsu.” Gorami said. “And you better hurry” He added in an ominous tone.
Komon didn’t like the sound of that last part, it sounded almost like a threat, the jutsu however didn’t seem threatening, unless of course the prisoner happened to be claustrophobic. But Komon wasn’t gonna leave that to chance. Quickly he activated his lightning javelin to increase his both his strength and speed, he figured he may be able to punch his way out of this problem and let loose a series of blows at the interior of the bedrock prison in front of him, the result however was less promising than he had hoped and left him with nothing but an unbruised rock and bloody knuckles. Damn that’s a powerful jutsu Komon thought to himself as he walked back to the center of the sphere, he was running out of breath, and noted that he was getting exhausted a lot easier than he would have in the past.
Putting together the exhaustion and the difficulty he was finding in simply breathing Komon began to realize what his Sensei's earlier warning had been. “And you better hurry” He recalled realizing that he had been hinting that the jutsu was an air tight prison and Komon would eventually run out of air. Komon hadn’t been counting on the small amount of air and had been breathing frantically from the start, Now aware of the danger was in he would take as small breaths as possible. In his head he began to formulate a plan. He couldn’t break through the jutsu as his most powerful attack just failed, but maybe there was another way. As the idea popped into his head Komon knew he needed to put the plan into action fast.
His eyes pulsated as he called upon his byakugan that now let him see where his sensei was stationed. The Bedrock that surrounded him was less than two meters thick which meant Komon could create a shadow clone outside of it. “Shadow Clone Jutsu!” He shouted as he pressed his body against the edge of the rock allowing his clone to appear just outside of it. The clone now outside of the earth sphere would weave the handsigns for Komon’s electromagnetic murder jutsu, sending a wave of electricity flying towards his master. Gorami saw this and promptly responded by using the body flicker technique to evade it. Komon smiled at the result of his attack, when Gorami activated the body flicker technique he had been forced to let go of his hand sign that left the real Komon trapped in the earth prison he had created.
The real Komon now watched as the rocks around him dissipated and the room began to come into view again deactivated his byakugan and taking a deep breath of fresh air. Now realizing that air was a luxury he often took for granted he began to rise to his feet before facing his sensei. “What kind of jutsu was that” He asked amazed by its power, Komon knew if he had not had his shadow clones he may never have gotten out of that ninjutsu. Gorami smiled at the boys curiosity and told him It was an A rank earth ninjutsu, called bedrock coffin that his father taught him at a young age. “It’s the first A rank I ever learned and I think it would fit your arsenal well, you lack defense after all, and while the instance I used against you was an example of the jutsu’s ability to restrain, it can also be used as a shield, a rather powerful one at that.” Gorami said while gesturing to Komon’s bleeding knuckles, before walking over to a cabinet in the corner of the dojo and pulling out gauze wrapping Komons hand to stop the bleeding, before saying “It’s just training you should be more careful of your health”
Komon didn’t take the words to heart, to him these sessions were never just training they were opportunities to advance his strength, and if he were to hold back he wouldn’t grow at the rate he wished to, but he nodded regardless and told his master “Yes Gorami Sensei, I’ll be more careful in the future” As he did so his sensei began to walk, and Komon followed him before he stopped on the other side of the dojo. As the technique had left quite a bit of destruction on the other half. “Here’s as good a spot as any” Gorami said to aloud to no one in particular. “Alright Komon, Let's get started” The jounin would say before inhaling as if he was about to start a long monologue.
“Like I said the jutsu is an A rank earth technique that can be used both to restrain or to defend, the jutsu sign is actually extremely simple, all you have to do is simply form the rat seal and then slam your palm to the ground. Practice this a couple times to get the hang of it, I’m sure you know by now that you want your handsigns to be an almost reflexive instinct when in battle, as even a second thought could cost you a fight, or worse your life” Gorami lectured the Gennin some more before allowing him to start practicing the hand sign he had described to him. When Komon received permission to begin practicing from his sensei he instinctively made the rat seal, these symbols had been driven into his brain since the academy and presented little challenge to him, as he formed the rat seal he then slammed his palm into the stone floor of the dojo. “Again!” Gorami exclaimed almost like a drill sergeant. Komon didn’t feel it was his place to refuse and continued to form the seal and slam his palm to the ground for what felt like at least half an hour. While this may seem monotonous and pointless Komon knew it was an essential part of his training, it would eliminate the need for him to think of what the symbol was in combat and instead his body could just do it, without a thought needed to slow his movements.
At the end of the half hour Gorami gave his student permission to stop, confident that he had drilled the handsign into his head. “Time for the next step, pulling rock out of the ground, insert chakra into the floor and force that rock upwards it may prove difficult but with practice I have the utmost confidence you can complete it.” He assured his student Komon. Komon however had no problem learning difficult techniques as he had shown in the past with both the eye mind reading jutsu, and the difficult chidori technique. Both were listed as A ranks the same as this Bedrock Coffin Jutsu he was now attempting to learn and he had no doubt he’d get the hang of it eventually.
Now actually attempting to manipulate the earth with the new ninjutsu for the first time he rose his hands in the air and formed the rat seal before separating his palms and slamming his right hand into the ground palm flat on the floor. Now he would gather his chakra and sent it gushing out of that very palm and into the surface of the ground. Komon smiled as he felt his chakra network do just that, through the ground his chakra would travel before setting itself into the position Komon had desired. “Bedrock Coffin!” He would shout as he forced the chakra upward while latching it onto the rock below him, the rock in turn came bursting forward but not in the way Komon had expected, instead of getting a curved sphere like his sensei he had instead gotten a much less graceful cluster of rock, where his jutsu had activated stood 3 rock walls with no roof, he was going to have to work on his control if he wanted to fix this technique.
Frustrated he released the jutsu letting the slabs of earth slide back into the floor of the dojo leaving no trace of their previous existence. As this happened his mind began to drift back to the drawing board on how he could better control the technique and bend it. In his last attempt he had only attempted to raise the earth from the ground and failed to bend it, which left the sky open on the jutsu and would give his opponents a relatively easy escape, Komon didn’t like the sound of this and such needed a solution. After a bit of thought he came to the conclusion that he would compress his chakra causing the earth to bend into a spherical form. I hope this works He thought to himself as he got ready to give it another go.
Komon stood up as he prefered the dramatic effect of crouching to the ground as he slammed his palm to the floor and could not do so if he was already crouched. It would feel wrong to already be crouched while doing this movement, so he decided it was best to stand back up. Now ready to give it one more shot Komon lifted his arms to about chest height mashing them together to perform the rat seal before he again to his right arm and slammed his palm flat to the stone floor of the dojo beneath him. In response the sound of a loud slap carried throughout the small training room, before his chakra poured into the ground beneath him beginning to pull at rocks, all the while compressing and bending the plates into a 4 spherical parts that when combined would form a complete sphere. Komon aimed these plates at his sensei and watched as they came out of the ground and began to envelop him perfectly. The plates smashed together and created the airtight prison Komon had previously been trapped in and a thud could be heard from inside it.
Gorami apparently wasn’t to pleased at being trapped in his own jutsu, “Komon I’m gald you mastered the jutsu and all but I’d prefer you not use it against me the first opportunity you get.” He jested before a rock spear smashed through komons jutsu easily creating a hole for gorami to escape through, Gorami smiled at Komon as he did so as if he had meant to taunt him. This caused Komon to realize he still had a lot to learn from his sensei. But it would have to wait for another day as Komon’s stomach once more began to rumble signaling it was about time he went and got something to eat, the dojo had no windows and it was hard to tell time in it but Komon guessed he had spent at least two hours studying this technique.
“Thank you Gorami sensei but I really must be going” He said as he excused himself from the training room.
