Today was an ordinary day for Nano Gōka. He had gotten ready the same way as always, he had left his home the same way as always. It was a completely normal day. That is, until he heard the terrible shouts coming from the water gardens. He had never personally been there but he had seen on maps of its location and he had always wanted to check it out. Seeing the shouts as a good excuse to take a look at the place, Nano began to jog towards the gardens.
When he arrived, he found a short, tubby man with a bald scalp screaming at the top of his lungs at a group of what looked like ninja who looked just about ready to murder the man. They were all wearing dark coloured clothing and held kunai and shuriken but they were without a headband. Nano guessed that these were Academy Students which was fortunate as this meant that if need be, it wouldn't be too difficult to stop them and he could also pull rank and order them to stop. That didn't mean he wanted to do that of course, he was hoping to be able to diffuse the situation as quickly and as quietly as possible.
When approaching them, Nano made sure to walk at a regular civilian pace and he removed all of the things on his body which could symbolise that he is a ninja. Nano had guessed that the man was yelling at the group because of their shinobi-in-training status so hopefully if he didn't look like a ninja, the man would be less hostile to him. The only flaw in his plan was that if he were attacked by the group of academy students he would be forced to show his true strength which would cause the yelling man to turn on him.
Nano was tempted to stay out of the argument and sit down somewhere else in the water gardens. It was completely empty aside from the people arguing and he would have thought of the place to be the most tranquil and soothing place had there not been a loud voice cutting through his thoughts. However, Nano knew that it was his job to stop the situation from escalating any further than it had already as he was the only one capable of doing so in sight. Sighing, Nano took the last few steps towards the argumentative individuals.
When he stepped in between the two opposing sides, he could feel all eyes staring at him. Before they could ask him any questions, Nano interjected and began speaking. "Please stop. This is completely unnecessary and all of you know it." He then turned towards the bald man and said, "You need to stop stereotyping all ninja and thinking they are 'the devil'." He then turned towards the group of shinobi. "And you need to stop giving in to petty arguments like this. I understand that it is wrong for you to be yelled at but as a ninja you are trained to deal with things like this."
After he had said that there was a small moment of silence before everybody standing around him began speaking at once, giving Nano an instant headache. He really did need someone else to help him out. This wouldn't take too long but Nano knew that it wouldn't feel that way.

A day shadowing A Queensman
It was bright and early in the morning as Hikari awoke from her slumber. It had been a few days since the chaotic sparing match that she had with the evil Shiroi and the crazy after events that followed. Hikari took the following days to recuperate after the insane events that conspired. So, Namikaze slowly got out of bed, did her normal morning routine, got dressed in her favorite white sundress, and would head out of her apartment without her normal ninja supplies.
It might have been a good idea to train today, rather then just waste the day away, but Hikari still felt like she was in recuperation from the festival a few days ago. At first, the girl would start to head over to the Kozoaki Yuki National Archives, but then stopped remembering the events that had happened yesterday, a man in his mid to early 20’s approached Hikari while she was reading their the other day (Hikari had been around at the library long enough to be able to tell who was a frequent comer, and who wasn’t, and she had never seen this man before.) and, well…. Lets just say he was making Hikari regret mentioning that she often frequented the library.
So, now what? She didn’t want to be one of those weird people that spent all their free time in their state of residence, she didn’t want to be hit on at the library, she was still recovering from her match with shiroi (Physicaly, and mentaly) So she didn’t want to train, and she couldn’t just walk up to the academy like she used to. After winning the Pagent, she felt like she had become a little bit of a political hero among the common folk, (A lot of people had been keeping her eyes on her ever since she gave her little speech, and she was scared that if people found out she was a shinobi, that it would be a bit hard for her to keep that about her.) As such, she was left in a delma, what was she supposed to do now? As she was walking around, she tried to remember a map of hoshi, and think of where she hadn’t gone yet.
“Hey… did you hear about what is going down at the water gardens?”
Hikari would turn to where she heard the voice. I t wasn’t directed at her, but it sort of caught her attention. Nearby to her, there were two men who appeared to be in their late 30’s talking to each other.
“No,” He would respond, “What is going on?”
“Apparently, there is a fight going on in the water gardens.” the man would say, “This one guy is insulting a group of ninja students, they were annoying him and he just had enough of it, he’s been going off on them an hour!”
Hereing this, the chestnut haired girl would start to worry. This was a recipe for disaster. One guy against a bunch of academy students? The students might get some idea just to get rid of the annoying guy. Or worst, the man might try to claim that they did, and if that is the case, it is one adult’s word against a bunch of kid’s. This could be the start of a civil war between the two of fractions. Well, Hikari had to solve this problem before it got out of hand. She would quickly slip away and start to head towards the water garden.
Jumping.
Hikari would rush toward the situation at a speed of 8 (Hey, she was in a civilian area, she couldn’t run at a speed of 125 and let everyone know that she was able to do that!) After a few minutes or so, she would come across the sceen, a single man, short tubby, with a black scalp screaming was argueing with a group of preteen academy students. At the scene also was another ninja (Hikari could sense his chakra,) trying to calm the situation down. Just to be safe, she would surpress her own chakra and approach the scene. Looking at the situation, she saw the man yelling at the boys. She seemed to recognize him….. but she couldn’t place where she had before….. but then, she heard the young shinobi boy say,
"You need to stop stereotyping all ninja and thinking they are 'the devil'
The boy wasn’t much older than the ninja academy students were, but he still had a commanding air about him. The boy with brown hair would then talk to the students, "And you need to stop giving in to petty arguments like this. I understand that it is wrong for you to be yelled at but as a ninja you are trained to deal with things like this." There was a small moment of silence, where both sides would look at him, then, suddenly, another argument would break out. The boy did make a good argument, but apparently, it didn’t work. Maybe he wasn’t charismatic enough. Maybe, it was because the situation was already out of his control. Or, what Hikari thought, it was probably, a mixture of all those things, and the fact that the boy was also a preteen. The man probably saw the boy as another stupid kid who didn’t know anything. The kids probably saw him as one of those freaks that like to hog the spot like, while acting like a ‘goodie goodie touche.’ As such, the boy needed help, and he needed it fast. So, Hikari would come out, she had an idea, praying that her time with Shiroi made it so she could bluff better.
She would approach the boy, and look at him and start to say in a raised (not yelling) voice, and point at the man. “Excuse me! This man isn’t ‘stereotyping at all!’ All of these shinobi are demons in their own right! And if this man wants to call them as such, he has every right to call them that!”

Her smile was pleasant, but the rest of her face needed maturing. Those were the thoughts were on his mind as he listened to the girl in front of him speak in these water gardens, sitting at a respectable distance from each other. They were both wearing formal clothing in form of kimono, and Shouhei had his hair tried up while she was wearing a ton of makeup. As to why Shouhei was here with her on a bench looking so formal that was because their parents were doing business, but then the girl in front of him became bored and it became Shouhei’s job to entertain her. First they took a walk, then they ended up in the water garden. That was the story of how they got here.
As for what they were doing. Well Shouhei was trying to diversify their conversation – or rather just talk about what he was interested in let’s be frank – but she kept somehow to link it to some kind of gossip or her friends. However, at some point she looked past Shouhei and he looked with her to see what was up. That was when he saw the mess of the priests and his cohort and his argument with what appeared to be academy students. Shouhei figured that if they were missing ninjas they would not be allowed into the city as its defenses had been bolstered a lot recently.
So far they let them be, but the case kept escalating, and eventually two more individuals joined the fray. Both he recognized as Hikari and Nano. His colleagues as ninjas if you will. He wasn’t sure where they were going with this, but Nano’s naivite and Hikari’s – what he hoped was acting – made him feel concerned.
“Excuse me for a moment.” He said to his companion then in out of sight he used the transformation technique to change his visage into that of an old man. He would then walk over to the trouble group and for now keep quite. However, he was very willing to speak up if needed.

“Excuse me! This man isn’t ‘stereotyping at all!’ All of these shinobi are demons in their own right! And if this man wants to call them as such, he has every right to call them that!” When Nano heard a loud voice call this out, he quickly turned around to see a beautiful girl with long chestnut coloured hair. He wanted to yell at everybody around him but he knew that would make him no better than them. He needed to approach this calmly and carefully. One wrong move and there might be an actual fight.
Instead of getting mad, Nano decided to bluff his way out of the situation. He decided to confuse them a bit as he began speaking. "I have the authority to arrest you and I am not afraid to do so." Of course this was not true but that didn't matter at the moment. To make both sides neutral towards him, he then winked at both of the opposing people, making sure the opposite side didn't see him do it to the other. Theoretically, this would make the students believe he was on their side but it would also make the priest and his follower believe he was with them.
Hoping the plan he had made on the spot works, Nano then announced, "Now if you would kindly end this argument, that would be great. We don't want anyone to be arrested do we?" He then stepped back waited for a response. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to step in any further as he had already developed a major headache due to all of the yelling. If this situation just ended, he could go back to enjoying a day of rest.
Alas, it wasn't to be as one of the academy students decided it would be a great and funny idea to throw some sort of egg at his face. He had no idea where the egg had come from but that didn't really matter to him. After dodging the egg, Nano snatched it out of the air. Luckily, the person which had thrown it was not the strongest as the egg had been travelling slow enough for Nano to easily get out of the way and catch it.
"Come on, was that necessary? I'm just trying to help. I don't want to have to arrest you but at this rate I might have to."

Hikari would wait as for the boys response, when he suddenly threatened them, saying if they didn’t stop, then they would arrest him. Hikari had to chuckle a little bit, the young boy might have been a shinobi, but unless he was a queens guard (Which Hikari doubted, judging by his age, and while he did have a high chakra level, it wasn’t on par with that of a queen’s guard) he was granted no authority to arrest anyone, and that was sort of common fact. However, Obviously, Hikari wasn’t going to point that out in the off chance it did diffuse the situation.
The brown haired boy, would look over to her side and try to wink, making sure that they knew he was on their side. He would then look over to the other side, (Hikari figured he was trying to wink to them, making both sides think that he was on their side.) making both sides think they had the diffuser on their side. That was a good idea. As long as everyone could keep level headed, this situation should be diffused. However, the preist would instead scream out, “You? Arrest me? I am a Preist of The God of Seven! Where does a snot nosed piece of shit get off threatening me?!”
Well, that wasn’t working. If anything, that appeared to make the priest angrier, after all, priest rarely swear, but if he is right now, that isn’t a good sign. The ‘folower,’ was about to say something…. But then…
Suddenly, Hikari felt another chakra presence, she would turn to see an elder gentleman walking toward the scene. The young Namikaze was still inexperienced with her chakra sensory abilities, but she felt like the chakra network was familiar. She couldn’t tell who it was. That being said, adding another shinobi to the mix might not be a good idea unless he was super level headed. The main reason for that is right now the man would feel outnumbered and threatened. That wouldn’t be a good idea. On the other hand, if this was one of those crazy shinobi (Different crazy from what Hikari was right now) and wanted to kill the priest just to shut him up, that would be even worse.
However, while Hikari was distracted at this, the situation got worst. Hikari would look back and see one of the academy students throw an egg at the preteen. To Hikari’s surprise, rather than letting the egg hit his head, the boy caught it easily, with reflexes a normal person shouldn’t of possessed. The man would look at him schocked for a few seconds. After the brief time of before screaming, “You!!! You are one of them, Aren’t you?! One of those Damned Devil’s!”
With all honesty, while the boy’s movements were beyond that of the normal human’s level, he was still youthful and in shape, so it was possible for him to deny it, but whether or not the man believed him if he did, was another story.
The man would start to angily storm over to the pre-teen, rage filled his eyes, but Hikari would go over and grab his arm and try to hold him back, hoping to hold him back. However, Hikari wouldn’t use her unnatural strength that she possesd, but just her normal strength that she had from being a 120 pound, 5’6, 16 year old girl. She would try to hold the man back, but if he tried, he could easily brute force himself out of her grasp and do what he wanted. The man would start to scream, at the other person. “IF YOU COULD ARESET SOMEONE, AREST THOSE LITTLE DEVILS!”
“Father!” Hikari would beg, “Remember, we shouldn’t use violence!” Hikari didn’t know enough about the religion to know if that was right for sure, but the man was a religious figure, and Hikari was a teenage girl, surely there was something in the religion
If the boy could calm the guy down enough, then Hikari would be able to step in and say something to make the man leave, but right now, she couldn’t justify the academy student’s actions while appearing like she was on the priest side. That would be up to the pre-teen.

Things weren’t going as he had hoped when the two genins got involved. Nano had just tried to appeal to authority. An easy route to take, but as he would soon find out from their reactions that it did not work. Meanwhile, Hikari was doing her acting still and it would appear that her talk hadn’t calmed down the priest one bit, but neither had it aggregated him which surprised him just a bit. However, it would appear that the priest was aggregated enough to make the conclusion that Nano was a ninja from how he catched the egg. Sure it was impressive but Shouhei had seen people of the martial art persuasion do better with a few years of dedicated training.
All in all that Shouhei would say if asked about this mess – in another setting of course – was that he wasn’t annoyed nor mad, just very disappointed in the both of them and how none of them seemed to know a thing about how to resolve human conflict. For one thing, there were often no solutions to problems of inter-personal and inter-political conflicts – only tradeoffs. And secondly that most people only cared about narratives and how it served them in the here and now. Hence the noble lie was a common theme in texts about ruler ship and government.
But enough about complaining and musings. The way things were progressing didn’t amuse Shouhei, so he a saw a need to step in and help in the way he sought the most helpful. As Hikari’s focus went to the priest she had grabbed, Shouhei instead went to the academy students and he asked of them. “Tell me, you young spirited bunch. Why is it that this man sting you more than anything you have heard before that it makes you want to fight on a hill for it?”
“Do we look like devils to you?” One of them responded to the old man that was Shouhei, and well they did, but more in the sense that they were a bunch of wild ruffians.
“We became ninjas to protect people and now they hate us for it. Like this priest think we’re devils?” The young man followed up to which Shouhei nodded. While he asked this a group of monks came over as a reaction to Hikari grabbing the priest.
Then Shouhei turned towards Hikari having overheard some of what they had talked about. “I’d be careful about saying that, young lady. The seven gods doesn’t say you are not allowed to defend yourself. On the contrary, it practices those who cannot protect themselves are allowed to find a guardian or blackguard to do it on their behalf. Like how the queen and the queen’s guard decided to fight fire with fire against those ninjas who raided the lower part of the city. Do you not remember those days, father when the poor were the victim of those villains? We have not have those issues since the queen’s reforms.”

Nano sighed. He had hoped that his easier way of resolving the problem would have worked but obviously that was not the case. He would have to try something else now. When the priest started yelling at him due to his display of agility, Nano was almost tempted to lie and say that he was just an active civilian but he knew that the priest would not be willing to believe him at this point. When an old man came around and spoke to the group, Nano couldn't help but feel like he recognised the voice from somewhere. He just couldn't figure out from where. Maybe his mind was just playing tricks on him.
Seeing a group of monks heading in their direction, Nano began preparing accordingly. From what he could remember, monks where meant to be calm and collected and would hopefully attempt to calm down the argument. However, the monks would most likely side with the priest considering they were a religious group. There were many outcomes that this could cause and Nano was ready for the worst. When they finally arrived, the leader of the group of five began speaking in a slow and steady voice.
"We overheard the makings of an argument and agreed that it would be best if we were to assist in breaking it up." Nano was relieved. The monks weren't here to choose sides. Thankful that the religious monks had chosen the peaceful route, Nano replied, "I thank you for the kind gesture. These ninjas in training have somehow aggravated the priest over there and we were having a hard time ending the yelling match"
The monks slowly nodded before the leader spoke once again, this time towards the priest. "Come now, let us share our experiences together somewhere else wise one." Fortunately, the tubby man seemed to have faith in the monks and seemed to rather like the idea provided by them. Thus, he would shake his arm out of his follower's grip and give the shinobi a final withering look before following behind the group of religious men.
From what Nano could understand, the fight had been stopped and the academy students could continue training as they had been beforehand. He would then give the boy which had thrown the egg a slight glare before watching them run off to do their own thing.

As the man came over to Hikari, he would proceed to talk to the two. (Shou didn’t specify that he was changing his voice, but I am going to go ahead and presume he is because his voice doesn’t sound like it would work normally, let me know if I am wrong) He would start to say, “I’d be careful about saying that, young lady. The seven gods doesn’t say you are not allowed to defend yourself.” Hikari would want to slap the shinobi after that….. Wasn’t really helping calm the situation! However, the old man would continue, and would explain that the religion did allow for self-defense, and that shinobi was the countries version of self-defense against bandits and other ninjas. Hikari was about to make the same argument herself, but the old man beat her to it.
With that, a few monks would arrive and would finish calming down the situation. The men would as such leave. Hikari kind of wanted to stay and talk with the Shinobi, but she also felt like she needed to go with the priest, otherwise it would appear weird that a 16 year old girl would stay around with the shinobi after showing her hatred of them. Hikari would go with the monks, she would eventual brake off when she had the opportunity to. (Either when she felt it was appropriate to say goodbye, or when she felt like she could slip away)

Shouhei couldn’t help but be amused by how easy the situation resolved itself. He had completely expected for the monks and the fellow followers of the priest had come to escalate the situation, or in the least come to react to Hikari laying a hand on a holy man. However, no such thing happened and every piece seemed to fall into place and the priest left with his cohort. Now another spirit left as well, and Shouhei believed that he needed to voice his concern to that certain individual.
He didn’t grab her or in any other way stop her physically from moving, but he did talk louder if she kept walking away from him. “Miss, I appreciate what you tried there.” His voice, if not changed by the jutsu was changed through his own effort. If she didn’t recognize his voice – and mind you he did make an effort that should not be underestimated or mocked – there wouldn’t be any signs that he is a ninja. “But be more careful another time. Civilized people will only take insults for so long, especially when they are young. Life is not just some magical girl story where fighting and overcoming an opponent makes you their friend and lifelong companion.” And with that he let her move on if she chose to do so. If he talked to him he would simply ignore it. Hikari could take his words or leave them. Or well, come back to him later and ask him if his cover was blown.
Nano on the other hand got a nod and a thumbs up with a smile from Shouhei. He couldn’t really be mad at the boy, especially because of his age. His method was simple, but at worst it did not escalate the situation. “I will be seeing you.” He said in his old man voice to Nano.
However, Shouhei believed that the situation wasn’t as cooled down as it should be. Looking over his guest, he waved her to follow her which she did, and fortunately she did not say his name blowing his cover. That was really nice of her he thought, and she just smiled at him. He was surprised not to see a hint of annoyance in her eyes but he did not want to look a gift horse in the mouth as the old saying goes.
When they had caught up to the academy students away from the priest he called them out. “Hey you people,” Shouhei called them in his normal voice then let himself turn into his normal form. The students turned around showing a different range of expressions. “Gather around me and I will teach you a few things especially about your temperament.” He followed up.
“Well you’re a ninja – I think – but who are you?” Asked one of them to which he showed them his ninja id. It was up to date when it came to his mission count, but seeing as he have had a growth spurt recently, his height and weight wasn’t. It was enough to convince then however, and they all sat around some benches as they listened to Shouhei teaching them a few things about temperament and how to ignore people who hate you… or that was in the least the short version of it drawing from his own experiences but mostly from fairy tales and religious texts. Hiyako – the girl he had kept company so far – seemed to be entertained enough. That was how the next hour went until Shouhei and Hiyako left the area and went back to their parents.
