- Senshi's Tattoo:
Senshi cracked his neck as he walked through the village, it was time. He was leaving to head to Taki soon as the Jounin commander of a war party and he needed to do something that would make him far more of a threat. He only had one S rank technique under his belt, but what a technique it was. He had finally managed to get the tattoo seals he had been meaning to create down. The seals that mimicked the Curse seals he had been reading about for so long. They were infinitely safer than the seals he had been reading about in that they would have the threat of death attached to them.
Instead, if they failed to be applied correctly then the receiver of the seal would suffer a loss in their bodies abilities. The loss, he had learned, was not a permanent side effect however. A person could turn around and train themselves back up to the place where they had been at before the seals application. He thought that this side effect was more than worth the risk in applying the seal. It seemed that a persons vitality was really what determined if a seal could be applied correctly or not. There was nothing that he could do to change the fact that someone with a low constitution was there by in capable of taking the seals with no risk.
He had spent countless hours testing the seals on animals that he had caught in the woods. Animals that had then gone on to either be enhanced or to lose the abilities that they had once had. When he had noted the potential side effect of the seals he had spent time with the animals that had become weaker. Working with them to see if they could be rehabilitated. He had been understandingly pleased when he had learned that the animal could then be brought back to where it had started from. He, originally, had been very concerned when the first few animals had lost their musculature, speed, or stamina. He had thought that all of the time he had spent studying had been for nothing.
The potential of applying one of his curse seals to someone and them living only to be less than what they had been seemed to be a much more terrible side effect than if he had applied the original made curse seals. He knew from his studies that his seals had vastly different effects than the curse seals that had been originally created. One of the major changes as that a person who received his curse seals, did not undergo any sort of transformation. Where a wielder of the original curse seals, that he had based his entire theory upon, would do so. They could even grow wings and develop the ability to fly. He had originally thought about attempting to replicate that side effect.
Sadly to say, he had learned that he could not do that. Despite every attempt he had made, there was just no way he could find a way to bring that aspect of the original seals into his own. Instead he had learned that when he applied the seals he was capable of suddenly being able to track the thing or person that he had placed the seal on everywhere. He simply intuitively knew where they were, it was some kind of odd sense that he felt in the back of his mind. Very similar to the mark seal, but then that made sense since he had used an old version of the mark seal the tied into an intricate telepathy seal in order to act as a stabilizer for the technique.
He raised a hand, running it through his hair half hazardly as he walked. He had learned a lot during his testing of the seal. He knew what each of the seals he had applied had done through rigorous testing. Though in the beginning either the animal he was tattooing had died or simply nothing had happened. There had even been several animals that had completely lost the limb that he was tattooing on to the sealing process. He had been forced to spend a lot of time around the animal he was tattooing constantly using his chakra sensory skill in order to become more accustomed to them and learn as much as he could about their chakra system.
It had led to him learning that he could not tattoo someone that he did not know. He needed to know the inner workings of their chakra system so well that they felt like an old familiar friend. It was an odd draw back, but one that he understood. He was pushing his chakra into the seals, in order to place the original amount of power into them. It only made sense that he would need to fully understand the chakra system of the person he was tattooing. As he would need to adjust the flow of his own chakra in order to sync with theirs more normally.
That was also where the danger of the procedure came from. When he tattooed someone his chakra interfered with their system. The seal in itself enhanced his chakra so much that when he placed the seal the person receiving it would experience it like a poison in their system. It was this poison that they then had to fight off, in order to be capable of nor losing their abilities to the process. It was also why, there was a distinct recovery time tied to the seals. One could not simply receive the seal and then expect that they could immediately go out and use it. They needed to first recover from it in order to be capable of utilizing the seal as effectively as possible.
Senshi saw this as not so much a draw back, so much as a good thing. It allowed a person to truly learn their new abiltiies. If, this hadn’t of been the case, Senshi could easily see someone going out and using the technique and dying because they did not understand how to fully control their body under its influences just yet. His whole goal was to enhance the shinobi of his village, not to kill them or be the cause of them receiving injuries. So, he in fact loved the fact that a person had to recover from the seals placement. It forced them to learn how to truly use it, which in the end was going to make the village stronger as a whole.
That did not even scratch the tip of the ice berg of everything that he had learned just yet. Once he had finally managed to learn to properly apply one seal to someone, he had then increased his study in learning how to combine some of the seals. He had been, briefly at least, saddened to learn that he could not apply as many seals as he wanted to someone. He was limited to only giving two seals. The ability to have enhanced someone with all five seals, would have been amazing. But even in fuuinjutsu, there was a limit to what he could be capable of. The amount of stabilizers and balancers built into a combined seal had drastically increased the risk of receiving it.
Still the risk of receiving two was well worth the reward that one could get. The abiity to enhance two attributes of a shinobi in itself was a great feat to have achieved, despite the risks being far greater. While one seal had the potential to cut someones abilities, two seals drastically reduced a persons abilities if the procedure failed. Not only that but the vitality required to take the process had doubled. He had learned that the more constitution you had really did matter, and he regretted not spending more time trying to build up his own constitution.
Still, the temporary loss in abilities was well worth the risk of the chance to boost two of your core attributes as a shinobi. Though the amount of seals he was capable of combining together was limited, they also made sense. Speed and strength went well together. Finding a way to combine the two seals had been relatively simple since they both enhanced the body’s musculature system. The same with vitality and stamina, they both dealt with the body increasing its ability to take damage and continue working for a longer period of time. However, combining Chakra and Stamina had been much harder and required him to scour the library and even create his own special seal balancers in order to stabilize the seal.
While chakra was similar to a muscle, in that when you worked it out, it grew, it was very different enhancing the spirit of a person to enhancing their body. The chakra enhancing skill, had in fact been the most difficult seal for him to create and apply to a person. Combining it with the stamina enhancing seals had only further increased the difficulty, but in the end he had finally managed to do it. He had used a lot of what he had learned from stabilizing the Chakra and Stamina seals together to apply that to speed as well. Though it had still required a large amount of work, and his creating more balancers from scratch in order to stabilize it, he had been pleased with the end result.
Nothing else had been capable of being combined unfortunately, so in the end a shinobi would be limited if they wanted to combine two of the seals together. They would be forced to accept what he had managed to discover. The impending war, had rushed his studies and he had been unable to dedicate any more time to the technique. He needed to apply as many of these as he could now. That was what brought him to the point in time that he was at. He had done as many tests as he could do on animals, to the point where he was no longer learning anything new from the process. It was time for his first live human test, something that he would never put another person at risk attempting to do on.
His first live human test, would be on himself. He would not be able to do a combined seal just yet on himself, but he would start with the application of one seal to himself. He had spent hours debating on which would be the best to try out first, and had finally decided it down to two of the seals. Speed and Strength. They were the two seals that would most benefit him in the long run. He had desperately wanted the health and stamina seals, but had come to the conclusion that with the necklace the flamingo’s had gifted him, his fuinjutus skill to create barriers, and if he forked over some decent cash armor that he would not need it.
His stamina was already quite high, and while the ability to fight longer would always be a benefit if he was too slow or too weak to truly complete his attacks then it made no sense to try and spam out a bunch of them. That had left him with the final two seals he had considered, since chakra had never been a huge thing for him to want to use. This would actually be the only technique in his arsenal that used chakra, that was above C rank. Now he simply had to decide which was going to be the seal he tried first. There were countless benefits to placing the speed or strength seal first, but which would ultimately benefit him and the village the most.
Strength would allow him to his much harder, dealing an insane amount of damage. But speed would allow him to take an enemy out before they even knew what happened. It would allow him to come to an allies aid much faster, as he had already failed to do in his short career. It would also allow him more time to react to anything an enemy used on him. He had failed Max once, by not being fast enough to help him. He would not make the same mistake twice, thus he had come to the conclusion that boosting his speed was the best idea. If he could come to his allies aid and save their lives with his medical abilities then in the end, Kumo would prosper much better since it would lose less shinobi.
He would be able to kill an enemy like Maku, that could move so fast he barely had time to conceive that he had moved. He would be able to react and not just stand there while his comrades were mutilated or killed. This. This was his purpose in life, to serve his village as best as he could. And So he would do it. Finally he arrived at a small shop, pulling the key from his pocket he unlocked the door and opened it. No sign was out side of the shop but it was in the better part of the village. As he unlocked the door he was greeted with plain room, thirty meters by thirty meters. In the center of the room was comfortable looking table that had a plush top in order for someone to lay on it.
On the left side of the room were tables with hundred of ink bottles, and his trusty Irezumi Ju, tattoo gun. He had learned basic art and drawing skills in order to be able to hide the tattoos on his patients skins. But he also knew that once activated the seals glowed, so the users would need to find a way to hide their skin from their opponent or accept that they were going to be easily spotted using the technique. Next to the table was an extremely comfortable looking rolly chair so that Senshi could sit and work on his patients, rather than being forced to stand. Taking a deep breath the Jounin looked down at himself.
He had forgone his usual red wraps, since he knew what he was intending to do today. Instead he was wearing a comfortable pair of black slacks, a teal button up shirt, and his jounin vest over it. He didn’t have his sword, Guerto, on him, but he did have both of his daggers and the Heavens Sorrow Ninjato that he had received from completing his first A rank mission. Unclipping the sword from its place on the small of his back he leaned it against the table and then placed both of his daggers next to it. He then removed his Jounin vest laying it on the table as well, the final article to follow was his button up shirt which he folded neatly before placing it down.
He sat down in the wheely chair, ignoring the massive amount of burns on his skin and push himself over to the tables on the side of the room. Grabbing the tattoo gun, he then grabbed several bottles of black ink and several paper towels. Placing them on another table that had wheels on it, he then wheeled himself back to the comfortable looking table. In his ear the piercing of swiftness gleamed slightly, and around his neck the bright pink flamingo necklace rested against his breast bone, enhancing his natural vitality through seals and the sacrifice of a fellow flamingo. Something that was going to ensure that Senshi would be able to easily place a single Speed enhancing seal on himself.
With a deep breath he drew forth his lightning chakra the loud buzzing sound of the tattoo gun echoed throughout the small room. Senshi then pulled one of the black bottles of ink forwards and poured a small amount into one of the small cups he had. Pulling off several paper towles, he checked to make sure that he had the soothing antiseptic water ready in order to wipe away excess ink. It was time to get started, he already knew what image he was going to hide his own seals in. Dipping the needle tip of the tattoo gun into the ink he used his lightning chakra to turn it on, cycling the ink into the needles. He then laid his right arm out on the table and leaning over he applied a slight pressure and began to move the gun over his skin.
It didn’t really hurt, but it was slightly distracting to feel his chakra pushing into his skin and the seals beginning to form. His goal was to apply the seals first and then hide them within the images. He spent several minutes forming the seals on his skin before he paused, grabbing the antiseptic water and paper towel he quickly wet it and then wiped away the excess ink, before placing them down and beginning to tattoo again. The process was going relatively fast, since he was capable of ignoring the pain easily and soon he was twisting his arm awkwardly to apply seals to the under arm portion.
The seals snaked around his skin, from his wrist bone all the way up to encase his shoulder. He had been surprised by the lack of pain he felt in most areas, but quickly discovered that the wrist, elbow, and near his arm pit hurt the worse. Not enough to distract him, but enough to find displeasing. Once he had completed the seals he began to go back over it drawing the images he wanted in order to hide them. He didn’t want another village to kill a kumo nin and then be capable of deciphering his seals and then using them against the village. This was a lethal technique in the wrong hands, and he knew most villages would love to have an ability to enhance their shinobi easily. Finally Senshi smiled as he sat back looking at the seals on his arm. It was time to rest a bit, before he tested it out.
