Yurei meets Damon
Sun May 21, 2017 12:39 am
Yurei pushed open the academy doors and took a deep breath. The sun had risen passed the tall trees on the horizon and given birth to a warm glow that touched the land. Its warm rays kissed the albino’s face. His hair and skin shined like diamonds under the light of the sun. It was a beautiful day, and there was not a cloud in the sky. The beautiful blue of the sky reflected off of Yurei’s kimono. It matched the embroidery depicting waves running down to his feet. The young genin’s eye tracked a flock of geese flying off in the distance. “I’m free,” he whispered, closing his eyes and feeling the wind on his face.
The pale boy leveled his head and exhaled hot hair through his nose. The peace had subsided. There was no liberty here. No freedom. Not with these villagers. Not with his parents. Yurei rotated his broad shoulders, popping them with a sound reminiscent of aged wood. He brought his long hands to the tie behind his head, removing the silver headband from his forehead. He rotated the clothing to face him; its metal reflected the sun back into the sky. It was bright, but it meant more to Yurei than anything else he possessed. “I’m a Shinobi. I don’t need to play pretend anymore. It’s the real deal.” Yurei looked out to the village and people began to exit their homes. “And now everyone will hate me.”
The headband was more than some trinket signifying status within the community. No, it represented duty to Hoshigakure and to being a protector; that’s what it felt like, even if most of the population did not share that sentiment. What triggered that was beyond Yurei’s years, and he hadn’t mustered the courage to ask anyone, not even his parents. Especially his parents.
Yurei gazed out to the horizon in dee thought. If you won’t accept us, then I’ll just have to make you like us! The pale boy smiled and chuckled to himself, tucking away the headband. Just not yet.
As Yurei exited the area, he began he daily stroll, observing the many sights the village had to offer. A decade of this and the beauty and interest had never wavered. Yurei walked along the side walk, sniffling from the pollen in the air. Hmm, I’ve got a lot of daylight left. Maybe I ought to learn a cool, new jutsu before I break the good news to mom and dad. I bet they’ll be even more proud of me, then!
Yurei couldn’t contain his excitement. Instead, he bolted forward down the sidewalk, eager to find a spot to test out some new jutsu!

Only homosexual vampires glittered like diamonds in the sun. Damon’s own headband glittered in the sunlight, although it was strapped to his right bicep instead of his head. It just was not his style to broadcast his status to the world in a tacky manner, rather, he wanted to be known as a shinobi to those that cared enough to truly look as opposed to a passing glance. At least some people would not simply dismiss him for being one of their protectors. It struck the boy as odd seeing as that shinobi were the ones who defended these people. Who carried out missions for their benefit. And all they received in return was hate. Some hate a bit too much. Damon froze in his tracks as he recalled the events of his own father’s death. Shrugging it off, he continued, hoping that nobody noticed. He needed a way to clear his system of this sudden feeling. And what better way than to practice new jutsu? And so, Damon headed towards the training grounds, eager to get a start on the day.
Fire. Fire was his second element. It represented passion. Desire even. But also hate. And to Damon, it represented death. Although it was not the very thing that killed his father, it flooded the background and filled all of his senses. He saw the orange flames, heard the cackling, felt the heat emanating from the surge, smoke had filled his nose and mouth. His eyes stung as he walked. His first tomoe sharingan activated on its own, responding to his emotions. A reminder of what he had lost. He blinked again as it deactivated. A solitary tear rolled down his cheek. Wiping it away, he decided that it would be a day to face his own… misfortunes. A way to expel this negative experience. Basing his own studies off of what he had previously read in the jutsu encyclopedia, Damon brought his hands up to his chest. Horse → Tiger. The handseals came naturally to the boy, as his practice with chidori had rather refined the speed of which he was able to sign handseals. Get out. Damon blew a massive fireball, two meters in diameter, out of his mouth and towards the sky. The Uchiha then watched it fly into the air for a solid twenty meters before dispersing. This was coming rather easily to him. The fire had been inside of him all along, begging to be released. Damon will have been practicing the Horse → Tiger handsigns as he was walking, continually spitting out a plethora of great fireballs into the sky. He was walking on the sidewalk next to the training grounds, so it would not be too out of place to be seen. If any other citizens were around, they may hate him for demonstrating jutsu. For showing off his chakra. He did not care. If they hated him now, they would be forced to feel guilty about it later instead, after what the truth of what shinobi did finally managed to hit them. The reality of the situation is that there will always be someone who hates you. No matter what. Damon would be waiting in the training grounds as he took a breather from spitting fire. If life as a shinobi did not work out, maybe he could become a rapper.

As Yurei strolled down the sidewalk, the morning dew began to evaporate, leaving a somewhat try environment behind. The light breeze kept him cool despite the growing heat of the sun, and excitement ravaged his brain. The selection process for learned jutsu was a bit tricky, but the pale Uchiha boy ultimately settled with Genjutsu. Illusions, deceptions, avoiding discovery at all costs. It wasn’t flashy like ninjutsu, at least to anyone not trapped within genjutsu. Yurei couldn’t handle a sword any better than he could handle an ink pen, even if he did practice with his makeshift, bamboo construction. Puppets did not interest him, and medical ninjutsu carried too much pressure with it. I’d be liable to attach someone’s leg backwards. Fuinjutsu simply didn’t interest him, and Yurei didn’t fully grasp what space and time jutsu even was. No, his true goal could be achieved through genjutsu. Its effect on the mind could drastically change the tide of battle and alter one’s heart. That was the true power of genjutsu. Not putting someone to sleep or paralyzing them, but shaping one’s thoughts and turning them to your cause. It was the ultimate tool of persuasion. If I develop my genjutsu far enough, I can change everyone in this village and unify us all. I just need to train really hard for a long time.
The pale genin smiled as he pondered the idea. He had the potential to achieve true peace. Only problem was he had no idea if he was good with genjutsu.
Yurei came to a stop as he reached the training grounds. Only one other person seemed to be here, though he did not recognize the boy. From what he could see, the boy had dark hair, much like his parents’. In fact, no one else in the village that Yurei had seen had that hair color. It was jet black, like staring into a dark cavern. Almost intimidating, and it certainly aided his father during his lectures. Perhaps he had seen him before, just never caught his name. The little genin spent most of his time socializing with the people of the village, forming small, ultimately thin bonds with no real depth. His parents disliked the attention it brought.
“Hey you!” Yurei called out, running toward the boy. His pencil thin body charged forward as he rushed to greet the dark-haired shinobi.

Re: Yurei meets Damon

This was a rather odd turn of events, was it not? Here were two boys meeting each other. However, this was not the interesting part. The pair might as well have been family. They were both descended from the mighty Uchiha clan, and yet neither truly knew it. Damon had been given slight hints, what with his own sharingan being awakened. He still did not truly grasp how awesome his power was that he simply had because of the blood flowing to his veins. They seemed to be polar opposites, however. Yurei aspired to bring peace to the world whereas Damon thrived on conflict, as he wanted to become a legend. After all, legends are formed in times of strife. They were like night and day if you looked at their hair.
“Hey you.” Well that was a rather abrupt way to introduce oneself. Not to mention generic and overall uncreative. Damon picked his head up at the sudden noise that disrupted his plans for the day… despite him not really having much of a plan, but instead just going with the flow. Looks like it will be another day for training. Brushing his pants off, Damon pushed himself off of the ground, where he had been sitting against a tree, and stood up. Putting on a smile, he would walk over to meet the boy with hair almost as white as his skin. Let’s see how this goes. “Hey.” Damon would extend his hand in a greeting, waiting to see if this ghost-like intruder would shake it. If he did, then the older Uchiha would simply introduce himself. “Name’s Damon.” He would wait for Yurei to introduce himself.

He seems nice enough. The dark-haired boy smiled lightly and extended his hand, introducing himself as Damon. No last name. Yurei was in a similar predicament, or perhaps he simply didn’t feel the need to share his last name. The boy’s hair was as black a midnight, and his skin fair. He looks more like my parents than I do. His shoulders weren’t as broad as Yurei’s but more developed and honed, likely due to more training. He had more meat on his bones than Yurei, but he didn’t seem as lively. The boy’s eyes were dark. He was almost the exact opposite of the lanky genin. “Name’s Yurei!” the albino shinobi said, smiling largely. “Please to meet you! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around before, but your hair and eyes are almost exactly like my parents’. Were we switched at birth?” Yurei asked, chuckling.

That was a rather odd question. Damon had no living parents. That he knew of. In fact, Yurei’s parents could very well be his own, however, this would be highly unlikely and seemingly something stolen from a lazily written daytime soap opera. The resemblance must be intensely striking at the very least in order to prompt the albino into mentioning that minute detail. Perhaps there was some such connection between these two.
“Yurei, huh?” This kid is very, very enthusiastic. Damon was no hardened shinobi from years of experience or anything, but he had most definitely already lost his innocence at the time when he came home to a house on fire. Fire. There was that element again. Maybe it controlled him more than he truly thought. Time for another attempt to expel it. Horse → Tiger. His hands shot up to his chest and signed the two handseals quickly, in fact, even quicker than the other shinobi could react thanks to the helix piercing Damon was sporting on his left ear. Maybe he would trade it out later for something else, but for now, he appreciated the connection the piece of jewelry shared with his own internal chakra network. The boy opened his mouth. Fire. A large fireball two meters in diameter shot out of his mouth. Wow. It did not necessarily occur to him when he was doing this absentmindedly, but he was experimenting with some pretty powerful fire jutsu. These fireballs were two meters, that is, about six and a half feet, which was taller than the average adult male. The sphere of heat traveled in the air above the two for about twenty meters before dissipating. Damon simply looked towards the sky, observing his handiwork, before looking back down at the boy. “Sorry about that. Just a training technique I’m working on.” Shrugging it off like spitting a massive fireball was completely mundane, Damon then proceeded to talk to Yurei, “So what brings you here, today? Are you going to train?” The kid seemed to be younger than him, but not by an irrational margin. If all goes well, they may very well be able to become brothers.

Yurei gawked at the great fireball. Its heat was intense, far hotter than anything the sun had projected onto Yurei’s fair skin. It was a rather impressive display. He had never seen something so magnificent, so raw with power. So passionate.
Yurei spent most of his day trying to catch a glimpse at shinobi preforming jutsu. Shinobi would come here or to other, more private locations, and test out their new jutsu. Yurei had seen many things, mud slides, clones, altering appearances, but nothing on this scale of power. This was nothing short of a spectacle.
Yurei closed his mouth and fluttered his eyes, regaining awareness just as the dark-haired boy turned to face him once again. “Wow,” he said. It was all he could say.
Yurei shrugged at the question Damon posed. “I came here to learn a really powerful jutsu. Perhaps even more powerful than that display,” he said with a haughty, sly voice, almost intentionally trying to beckon a rivalry. He chuckled, breaking his serious tone. “I wanted to learn a genjutsu, but a need a partner to, uh, use it on. If you’re up to it. I don’t want you to feel like you have to. Because you don’t. No obligation to, no sir! You game?” Yurei asked with a warm, welcoming smile. He squinted his eyes in glee, waiting for a reply.

...Is this kid challenging me? Damon was merely here learning some basic techniques. Nothing that this albino could do could possibly best chidori. Then he chuckled. Phew. Damon thought to himself. I don’t have to cause him any harm today. Emphasis on the today. Between Akemi and now Yurei, Damon was unsure as to how many rivals he would be able to take on by himself. Then he began a barrage of words that just went to show how excited he was to try out this super awesome spectacle of a technique that he had promised. And so, Damon decided to entertain the idea. “Sure thing, Yurei.” This would also give Damon an idea of how genjutsu worked, as he had had little to no experience in the area.

Yurei let out a bellowing chuckle. “Haha!” he yelled, raising his arms into the air. “Prepare yourself, Damon! And feel my awesome power!” Yurei sent a bellowing laugh into the air, smiling twistedly.
And then he suddenly stopped, as if jarringly back to normal and whipped out a scroll from his bag. “I forgot the hand signs,” he chuckled, pulling out the scroll. “Now I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it. At least not immediately. It’s a pretty advanced jutsu, so bear with me if I mess up, thanks!”
Yurei’s pale eyes scanned the parchment scroll as he observed the jutsu and its requirements. He was right; it was advanced. Perhaps too advanced. Jumping into a jutsu such as this was probably a bad idea, especially when the only jutsu he knew were E ranks. Yurei’s eyes traveled to the top of the parchment. It was the jutsu called Ephemeral, a B rank jutsu, and its potential was amazing. I can create an illusion of rewritten reality. Everything will bend to my will. I can make Damon see anything I want. I wonder…
“Hey, Damon, just give me a minute while I look over this jutsu! I want to get it exactly right!”

Re: Yurei meets Damon

“Alright. I’ll be… right here.” Damon would simply go back to practicing his fire style. Lying down in the grass, he would rest his arms behind his head to support himself and lie down in comfort. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, Damon would knead fire based chakra within the pit of his own stomach. Moving his hands to his chest, still lying horizontally, he would sign the Horse → Tiger seal again in order to release his built up fire chakra. Fwoosh, the massive fireball exited via the mouth of the genin and soared into the skies above, causing the air to grow hotter where it traveled. He felt as though he pretty much had the jutsu in the bag, as his Uchiha nature allowed for fire style moves to come naturally to him. Not that he knew this of course. Damon would then sit up, his legs criss crossed on the ground and look up to Yurei, who was looking over something. Believing that he would be done soon, Damon pushed himself off of the ground and stood straight up. He then rolled his shoulders and popped his back in addition to his neck, preparing himself for what would come next. Leaning down and grabbing his toes, the grey eyed Uchiha would look up in time for Yurei to use the technique on him.
