A Night Out IO [Yurei/Damon]
Tue Jun 06, 2017 1:24 am
Laying in his bed akio could be described as pretty much anything but tired. Frustrated, Energetic, Restless, Irritated. Any of the above would work, Clutching his pillow over his head he’d try to drown out the sound of his yelling parents. The two had been fighting ever since Akio had made gennin and it bothered the hell out of him. His parents had never fought like this.
Obviously his mother approved of his decision to become a shinobi, In her past she had been one herself before retiring and moving to hoshi. But his father seemed adamantly against it, the man had grown up in hoshigakure, and shared the hatred of the shinobi life that most in the city did despite his mother's past. He had married her because she had thought that life was behind her and that their kids wouldn’t follow that path.
His parents had never argued like this… And he knew it was his fault. The pillow over his head did little to muffle the sound and he couldn’t sleep. Luckily Esu was their to break the tension as always, It was as if the shepherd could tell when Akio was in distress and would always arrive with a solution nudging on Akios legs that were beneath the blanket as if to say they should leave.
Tossing his pillow to the other side of the room and causing a soft thud as the feather filled sack hit the drywall of his bedroom he’d spring out of bed and open the window. “Yah let’s get the hell out of here” Before hopping out. His room was on the first floor of the building so there wasn’t much of a leap as much of stepping out and he’d find himself standing in his front yard alone until Esu would make an elegant leap out of the window.
Akio would close the window almost entirely leaving a slight crack so that he could let himself back in afterwards, before turning and following Esu’s trot towards the nearest training ground, it was about time the two got some practice in. They hadn’t done much since graduating the academy.
Together Esu and Akio would walk down a dirt path illuminated solely by the dim yellow lights of street lamps every couple of dozen yards.

Re: A Night Out IO [Yurei/Damon]

Yurei moved his legs as fast as he could, only to find them sluggish. Shadow crept up behind up along the walls, ceiling, and floor, and he could not escape it. He drove his body forward, with all of his will. He sweated profusely, pushing his body to its limits. Closer and closer the shadows crept. It was like drink to run underwater. He was slow, and he couldn’t breathe. There was a tightness in his chest, as a constrictor were collapsing his rib cage in on itself. His sweat was cold, like ice.
Yurei reached forward, now seeing a light at the end of the dark hallway. Two silhouettes stood at the end of the hall, and, though he could not recognize them, he knew he had to join them. It was safe there, he could feel their comforting embrace just out of reach.
But it was not to be. The shadows that chased the boy crept to him, latching onto Yurei and pulling him back. The bright white light began to shrink with distance. The Uchiha struggled, trying to break free, but the shadows wrapped around him, trapping his body until it was enveloped in shadow.
Yurei’s legs and arms grew exponentially. He stood tall and slouched, reaching the ceiling. His footsteps cracked the wood floor beneath them, and only two white eyes remained. Darkness conquered the hallway, save for the light at the end of it. The monster Yurei became stepped forward and charged. The genin struggled against it, but it was as if he was a passenger in his own body, and something else was the pilot. He charged, reaching to the light. The two silhouettes came into color now, and he could see. It was his mother and father. The black monster stopped, staring at the pair.
“Why?” his father murmured.
Yurei elongated hand stretched forward, impaling Roshi. Blood splattered on the boy and his mother, appearing almost vibrant read against the void Yurei’s skin had become.
“ROSHI!” Takia yelled, screaming.
Yurei turned to her. Shadow stretched forward, diming the light ahead and taking Yurei’s father into it. Yurei raised his bloodied hand at his mother. Her eyes pleased with his blank, pale, ones, and he swung his arm down in a slashing motion.
“No! NO! NOO!” Yurei yelled, coming to. He panted, in hyper-alertness. He reached under his pillow withdrawing a kunai, and slashed forward. Nothing was there. There was only the quiet of the night and the crickets that lay beyond, singing their song. Yurei felt his forehead. It was rife with icy sweat. His breathing slowly normalized from a vigorous panting. “It was just a dream….”
Yurei closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He stepped out of his bed and looked under his bed, finding two scrolls. The Blody Flicker Technique and the Genjutsu release. Both were incredibly useful, but now their use was getting Yurei to think of something else.
Yurei slipped on his silvery kimono and walked past his mother’s room, finding her asleep. Or perhaps it simply appeared she was. The Uchiha didn’t ask, and he didn’t feel the need to ask. Not now. She needed to mourn. His father’s corpse wasn’t even cold yet.
Yurei took a deep breath, sliding on his bamboo shoes and stepping outside. Street lamps illuminated the Hoshigakure sidewalks as Yurei pressed on, trying with all of his power to not think. Thinking about it made it worse, and, though Yurei pledged to prove his father wrong, the burden of losing him… no… killing him… but did he?
Yurei balled his hand into a fist and hit his forehead. “Don’t think about it,” he said to himself, walking onward.
That night walk was lonely and cold. Yurei grasped his biceps with his arms folded. He could not tell if it was the air or the icy sweat still lingering, but he pressed onward to the training grounds, finally reaching them. He had no idea if he had the mental capacity for jutsu right now, but laying in silence made him think about Roshi, and sleeping made him have nightmares of Roshi, of what he did.
Yurei took a deep breath, finally sitting down in the center of the training grounds, and unravelling his scrolls.

Damon was never one to rest well. He had not even bothered going to the cathedral after the events of the day, instead opting to get in some more training. He felt overwhelmed lately, whether that be due to the amount of missions he had been taking on or something else entirely, he just felt an immense pressure. Something that a good bout of training could help get out of his system. There had been a technique that he had meant to learn for a while. Monkey → Bird → Dog → Ram. He went over the handseals in his head as he practiced them without channeling the required chakra. He was still new to this whole shinobi thing and wanted to make sure that he could finally get a grasp on how to form the handseals. He continued walking down the long abandoned roads of the City Blessed by the Stars, heading towards a training ground. To anyone still up, he would probably just seem to be performing some off routine involving sign language, unless they had learnt how to recognize the various handseals. Damon subconsciously began kneading fire natured chakra within the pit of his stomach, preparing himself for this jutsu. He blew a small stream out of his mouth, testing the fire built up inside of him. It was a rather cold night, so this also helped him stay warm. He dropped his formerly crossed arms and activated the inner flame technique in order to warm his own body temperature and stave off the chilly weather. It truly was a silent night, as the only sound that could be heard was the howling of the wind. He needed to hurry.
Finally entering the training grounds, Damon would stop mere meters from the entrance and use the handseals once more. Monkey → Bird → Dog → Ram. Suddenly the fire that had spread within him seemed to want to explode out of his system. And that they did. His body was then surrounded by flames in a radius of five meters, which surprisingly did not manage to burn his clothes off, as that would just be embarrassing. The flames licked the cold hair as the wind only fueled the fire. If Damon were closer to the tree line, he would run the risk of burning down the entire training grounds. As if Hoshi needed another reason to hate shinobi. People seemed to fuel that flame enough. Get it. The flames would then die out around him, fizzling away into nothingness. He was starting to get over his fear of fire, finally. And for good reason. Fire was actually beautiful to watch.

As Esu and Akio strolled through the night the dim yellow light would illuminate their faces before disappearing into darkness and this pattern would play on repeat until the pair found themselves standing at their destination. As their feet and paws came to a stop in unison a familiar smell would find its way into Akio’s nostrils. He couldn’t quite place it but he knew he had smelled it before, an inuzuka rarely forgot a scent.
Turning towards a tree located in the center of the training grounds he’d see the silhouette of a boy. Probably a couple years younger than him, he couldn’t really tell much in the lighting other than that the figure was sitting and young. It was odd for someone to be out at the training grounds at this time of night, and even odder for two.
“Hey you! Have we met?” He’d say walking towards the familiar scent, with esu following closely behind. Who could this be? He’d think to himself as he did so.

Yurei read over his scrolls, peering through the dim moonlight. As his struggled to read, his vision impaired further, now blurry. Yurei found himself to be crying. Yurei sniffed, wiping his eyes as a single tear streamed down his face.
Suddenly, the night air lit up brightly, then diminished. Yurei turned to his side, looking on the fire. This would no doubt be Damon. No other shinobi had suck an annoying obsession with it. Before Yurei could get up to investigate, he found someone to be calling him. The voice was familiar. Yurei turned to face the noise, finding a silhouette of a shinobi boy and a dog.
That was it, Akio and Esu. How could he forget? Yurei faked a smile and waved. His demeanor was happy, thrilled even, but this was fake. In truth, Yurei could not be more upset to see the two of them. Not right now. He needed to be alone.
Or perhaps it was for the best. He didn’t know. Every stance on the debate had a counter-argument, and each was rife with emotion. Don’t think about it.
Yurei rose, put on a smile and went about greeting the boy. “Hey, Akio! It’s Yurei! Your pale friend from the markets. Esu bit Damon’s butt!”
Despite his anger and sadness, Akio and Esu’s name rolled off of the tongue with finesse and ease. He remembered the both of them without even having to think.
Unbeknownst to Yurei, Uchiha formed bonds quite easily. They had a greater capacity for love and unions. They derived their power from bonds, losing them, that is. That is how Yurei received his first tomoe. All of Yurei’s life was spent limiting connections by order of his parents for this reason. Unlocking the sharingan by accident would have been an awkward situation, not that it mattered now.
Yurei bent down, allowing Esu to smell his hand before reaching to pet the dog.

When everyone pretty much ignored the massive whirlwind of fire that encompassed a person, who would have been illuminated by the dim orange street lamps above his head beforehand, Damon would continue uninterrupted. Even though the fire made his presence even MORE blatantly obvious. But of course this was all for naught as the fire then faded from his person, his chakra too unstable to control the burning flames. Sighing, Damon placed his hands in his pockets as though this was completely normal. He was getting more used to the idea of ninjutsu and its applications that he did not find himself shocked in the slightest, unlike some people that for some odd reason were surprised by what their own bodies were capable of. Sighing, the Uchiha continued deeper into the training grounds, continuing to practice the technique. As he was walking, he had withdrawn his hands from his pockets, and began signing the handseals again. Monkey → Bird → Dog → Ram. His fire natured chakra was brought to the surface once more as the wind around him twisted into a swirl as his body lit up. His flaming chakra spiraled out of his chakra network and surrounded his body, but it felt too wild, like it longed to be set free. Damon then channeled the majority of the chakra towards his hands, he directed the blast outwards, but away from the two that were also residing within the range. The fireball would be similar to his great fireball technique, however, this one offered a quick defensive measure as well as being able to be converted into an offensive attack. Smart.
After he had done his technique, and probably drawn the attention of the other two in the training grounds (maybe), Damon would take in his surroundings. Hearing the faint noise of conversation, he would cock his head and adjust his eyes. Straining to see who it was, he subconsciously flooded chakra to his eyes in order to activate his two tomoe sharingan. He would then be able to read their chakra signatures. One mildly adequate signature that he had recognized as Yurei, as well as a very dim chakra signature that he had only gotten a feel for a moment… since the guy’s dog had bitten him in the ass. Although he was not completely sure and instead began to walk over. Blinking, his eyes would deactivate as he heard mention of his own keister. Shrugging off the feeling, Damon continued walking. “Hey, guys!” he would say as he projected his voice so that the other two would be able to tell that he was there. He used the ram seal toshow off body flicker up to a low hanging branch, stemming from the tree that Yurei was leaning against. He would then sit down and place his hands on the wood, swinging his legs with a light grin on his face. “Did I miss the memo? What are you guys doing here this late?” he would inquire.

As he called out to the silhouette he’d see a flash of light coming from the tree line and he would be momentarily caught off guard, the smell of smoke quickly reaching him. Shaking his head he’d turn back towards the silhoutte who seemed generally unphased by it. This meant there were three people in the training ground in the middle of the night. This was getting rather unusual relatively fast, luckily some answers would begin to fall into place as he closed the distance between himself and the stranger.
The inuzuka's eyes were already adjusting to the night, and with mere feet between them he began to recognize the face in front of him, and the scent became clear to him. “Yurei” He thought to himself. The pale kid he had met a couple days ago in the center of the markets, with Esu’s…. Mishap. This knowledge would bring a small amount of relief to him as he allowed the dog to walk up and get a good whiff of yurei.
The dog and the pale kid seemed to get along, which was strange due to the fact that Esu was usually very territorial and aggressive. Akio usually based his judgement of a man's character on how Esu felt about them, when it came to that kind of thing Esu just seemed to have a talent for it that Akio did not. So he trusted Yurei at the moment.
“Sorry” He’d say letting a slight pause hang in the air as he did so before resuming. “I couldn’t tell who you were in the middle of the night, I hadn’t learned your scent yet” As he said this he’d realize that it would sound odd and out of place as the kid didn’t even know he was a ninja much less a member of the inuzuka clan. Trying to cover up the awkward moment he’d try to change the subject. “Esu seems to be taking a liking to you” As he finished this however he’d be quickly interrupted by a shout from the direction of the fire. He recognized the voice almost immediately.
“Damon” he’d think to himself again, making a mental note to remember their scents before he left the training grounds tonight.
“I was just getting some air, couldn’t sleep with my parents yelling at eachother… Nice to see you both again”

Yurei rubbed his hands through Esu’s short, slick fur, scratching behind his ears and patting his side. The pale Uchiha boy had an affinity with most animals and with people as well. Some of it was his personality, the other part was his Uchiha bloodline. The Uchiha formed bonds easily, it’s what gave them their power. Not solely through bonds, but through the advancement of their Sharingan. It was loss, among other things, but the heart of the Sharingan was friendship.
Yurei looked up at Akio.
“Hadn’t learned your sent yet.”
Yurei raised an eyebrow at that statement. “My smel-?” he said softly, but Akio quickly changed the subject.
“Esu seems to be taking a liking to you,” Akio had said.
Yurei moved his fingers through the large canine’s fur, scratching his chin. “You think so? He hasn’t bitten my butt, yet, so..” Yurei smiled faintly, focusing more on Esu. He forced himself to sound as normal as possible, but he wasn’t really certain as to why he would hide his feelings. This was only the second time they had met, and crying in front of both Akio and Damon would be a tad awkward, but on the other hand his father had just passed. But how sad about that was he? His father made no effort to accept him. In fact, the anger in his eyes burned so…
No. He wasn’t sad. He was devastated. His Sharingan was evidence of that. Roshi was still his father, and he still loved him, no matter what his views on shinobi were. But he should let Akio and Damon know how he was feeling. Or maybe he should leave. Or perhaps just learning a jutsu would help him to forget for now. Yes, that was it. He didn’t want to confess feelings right now. He wanted to ignore it. Forget them. Just for tonight. Thinking about it brought too much pain that he didn’t want to feel now. Not in front of them.
Yurei looked up at the direction of Damon as he neared. “Hello, Damon!” Yurei yelled, sniffing in one last move to hide his melancholy attitude, but how well he hid this was open to interpretation.

Well it seemed like everyone had ignored the impressive 141 speed body flicker. It may have been out of their reaction times, granted, but they should have noticed the boy seemingly teleporting. Oh well, nothing major, just maybe if one of them wanted to learn it at a discount or something. It was then revealed that Akio’s parents were arguing… strange. Foreign in fact. Damon had never had a pair of parents to argue, just the lone father figure, that may or may not be his actual father. He should probably read about his own life in that book he managed to keep from the fire. It was just in his pocket dimension… But now was not the time. This was about his two fellow shinobi in front of them. Yurei seemed… off. But he seemed to be eager to learn, at least. There was a certain sadness in his usually bright eyes, however. Something familiar even. Maybe he should not dwell on such things. “How about we do some training you two,” the dog might growl slightly, “and Esu, as well,” which should hopefully make the dog happier. The last thing Damon needed was another ass cheek to go missing. The one cheek wonder then brought up what he thought had been noteworthy, “Did either of you two notice how fast I got here? I wouldn’t mind teaching you guys. It’s called the body flicker technique.” Damon held the ram seal up to his chest. “You just use the ram seal and channel chakra to your legs to reinforce them. After all, we don’t want anyone to break any legs here. Then you use your chakra to push yourself forward, beyond human levels of speed. It’s actually a lot of fun, but just be careful in combat.” He had a flashback to his impromptu spar with Akemi, that he had actually lost, based on sheer numbers. Maybe he was stronger now, but he still did not want to test that theory. Just yet. But one day he would kick the Hiyu’s booty from here to Kumogakure. “Just be careful is my point. Jumping is one of the worst things you can do in combat. But I’m rambling. Why don’t either of you two give it a try?”

As Akio rather expertly avoided the topic of conversation was that him memorising Yurei’s scent he’d let a small smile slip through before Yurei began to make a joke about the earlier incident at the market street. “Well as long as you don’t have dumplings stashed back there I think you should be fine” It was around this point that Damon jumped into the conversation instead of performing more pointless jutsu. Good.
“We should do some training you two” He’d say, before hearing a soft growl as Esu’s head tilted. Akio would give a slight glance to the dog in response as if to tell him oh shut up about it. Damon probably in fear of their last encounter and not wanting to experience such a traumatic event again quickly corrected himself to soothe the dog. “And Esu”.
Good. Akio and Esu would both think to themselves in unison. Hes Learning.
The Damon would proceed to explain the technique by drawing attention back to the pointless jutsu he had used earlier. “Did you guys see how fast I got here earlier” He said in an almost bragging manner. Truthfully Akio hadn’t even watched him arrive, he had just kinda found the boy’s scent out of nowhere.
But he’d nod as if he had, no point in bringing that up anyways, it looked like the dark haired boy was about to explain the technique in detail anyways. It was called body flicker and apparently was a way to use your chakra to drastically enhance your speed, for travel and escape. Akio would tilt his head in confusion as Damon explained it, he had never heard of ninjutsu enhancing physical abilities.
In the academy most of the ninjutsu he had seen was stuff like changing your shape or appearance or shooting fire out of your mouth. But to make you move faster… that sounded like a taijutsu area, something he was good at. “Ok Yeah I’ll give it a shot” He’d say as he stepped forward into the clearing, leaving the two boys behind him to his back.
About 10 paces later he’d take a stop and get into a running stance before drawing a blank on the next step. Slightly confused he’d look back to Damon and Yurei before sputtering “Uuuuuuh… Whats the Ram hand sign look like again”. Again ninjutsu was not his specialty, he had to work hard just to get the transformation and clone jutsu down and had spent most of his time in the academy practicing taijutsu, it was what he excelled at.
Assuming either of the two responded he’d get back into his running stance before tapping into his chakra network, the basics of which he had gotten down for the transformation and clone jutsu, allowing the aura like feeling to reinforce his legs as damon had stated. “Please let this work” he’d say softly as he slammed his hands together to form the ram seal.
And to his astonishment it seemed to go off without a hitch, as he felt himself propelling forward he’d be alarmed at the speed he was reaching, it was nothing superhuman but it was certainly faster than he had thought possible for himself.
Fast enough to make himself lose his footing that is. As he got into his fourth stride he’d trip over his own foot, his body not being used to the momentum he had gained, and he’d face plant into the dirt, sliding a good seven feet before he stopped.
“Son of a--” he’d say with his face still muffled in the soil.
