Re: A Night Out IO [Yurei/Damon]

Yurei watched as Damon flickered into their vicinity, as if he were conjured out of thin air. This seemed to be the jutsu he had placed before him earlier, the Body Flicker technique. Damon’s arrogant prattle seemed to confirm this, but he fittingly offered to teach the technique to the two of them. Yurei could manage on his own, would almost prefer it, but a little kindness went a far way nowadays.
The Body Flicker was unique in that it enhanced physical abilities. Yurei needed this to combat his lacking physical abilities. Yurei wasn’t one to fight, that is why he placed so much emphasis on Genjutsu, illusions, to avoid conflict and restore peace to the world around him. But even illusions created suffering. Yurei knew that now. Sometimes they were worse than any ninjutsu could ever be. They left scars that didn’t heal and couldn’t be seen normally. They scarred his heart, and the pale Uchiha boy felt that pain now.
Yurei wanted to practice the genjutsu release, another technique used to dispel an illusion other than simply surging one’s chakra and breaking out with sheer will. Yurei hadn’t been on the receiving end of a genjutsu, not yet, and he saw what it could do. It would be best to learn how to fight against it.
The albino Uchiha watched as Akio performed the Body Flicker technique, or, rather, tried to. He didn’t even know the ram seal, asking what it was. Yurei cracked a thin smile in return. He extended his index and middle fingers on both hand, keeping his ring and pinkie fingers on his left hand collapsed, and placed his right hand over his left, pinkie and ring fingers on the right on top of the ones on the left. “It’s like this, Akio,” he answered, watching at the boy attempted the technique.
Yurei was largely a logical person, or at least he learned that way. The boy found it very easy to translate instructions on paper into action, that’s why he loved using scrolls to learn jutsu, but now he wanted to watch Akio and learn that way, combined with what he saw of Damon’s display and the explanation the Uchiha provided.
The pale Uchiha watched Akio prepare himself, but he closed his eyes. When Yurei opened them, his pale white eyes and become much brighter than they were previously. His white eyes reflected the moon, his pupil and tomoe acting as voids in the light. But even with his eyes brighter, Yurei’s eyes still glistened with solemnness. That, unlike his Sharingan, he could not deactivate.
The pale Uchiha watched carefully, Akio’s chakra now visible to Yurei, as the boy kneaded the chakra within his legs and leapt forward with the Ram handseal. It was an impressive display, well, Yurei thought it was at first.
The albino’s Sharingan deactivated as he burst into laughter, watching Akio faceplant into the sand dirt. He collapsed over onto the ground, tears streaming out of his eyes. “Ha ha ha ha ha hah!” he laughed, slowly forcing his body to stop convulsing for his rude but involuntary response.
Yurei stood, exhaling deeply. It felt good to laugh. Especially now. The Genin’s smile faded back into an indifferent, flat look. “I think I have it,” Yurei said, forming the Ram handseal. The boy sent his chakra flowing to his legs, but with less force than he had seen with Akio. He burst forward, landing upright next to the dog boy. The pale boy smiled thinly and stood, grabbing Akio, lifting him out of the dirt, and brushing him off. “A crash landing it still a landing, and any landing can stand up from is a good landing,” Yurei said, feeling very philosophical. In truth, it was something his father had said to him, but it was a phrase that had stuck with him. Maybe he needed to follow his own advice.

Just stating that for the record, Damon never used any jutsu totally pointlessly. It was primarily in order to train and/or be flashy. Because a legend begins when people acknowledge the person. And there was nothing more that the young genin wanted more than to become the greatest shinobi in the world. There would be a place in history books for him one day. But that day was not soon. Instead, the Uchiha was currently within the training grounds, teaching a rather basic but useful technique to some arguably weaker genin. He was about to respond to Akio’s dumb question but instead Yurei took the lead. Interesting. The boy once too timid to really speak his mind was now helping to provide instruction. Damon’s head just happened to be turned away from Yurei’s when the younger Uchiha activated his first tomoe. His chakra sensory however noticed the increase in chakra output. He hesitated for a moment but was then distracted by the stupidity of Akio. Damon tried his hardest to not laugh at the misfortune that had fallen onto the dog whisperer. But he really could not hold it back very well. What started as a few chuckles turned into a laughter that hurt his sides. “That was brilliant,” he said wiping away a solitary tear that had built up. Humor now, fame later. And besides, Yurei seemed to pick up on the technique fairly quickly. He could not have done it better actually. Hmm, Damon thought to himself. Maybe he should keep a sharper eye on his friend here. Damon would then hurry over himself, on foot instead of body flickering. One could only do it every so often, after all. “So,” he would say once he had reached the pair, “how’s your face.” There was nothing in his voice to signify a question of any sort, instead Damon was just being a friend. More like a best friend, who makes fun of you all the time.

Yep definitely like Yurei better.
Was what would run through akios head, currently stuck in the dirt. While Damon had burst out in laughter, the white haired boy had rushed over to help. “That was brilliant” He’d hear in the distance as he silently hoped that the boy happened to have more dumplings in his back pocket. “Yah that would teach him a lesson” He’d think to himself as he reached out to the more helpful gennins hand.
Yurei seemed to be in the middle of talking about how any landing was a good landing as Akio managed to finally get back on his feet. “Yah well I have about 5 friction burns that would disagree right now” As he finished speaking he’d spit dirt out of his mouth and onto the ground making a semi disgusted face as he did so. “Whatever I’ll get the hang of it later”
As he finished Damon would find himself walking up to the two and would ask a question that made Akios eyebrow raise. “Not great?” He’d joke, as he continued to wipe dirt off of his clothes. “I'm really better at taijutsu I swear to god guys” He felt like he had to prove that he was a capable shinobi now after that mishap.
At this moment if the world that the three had lived in was like a cartoon, the darkness would begin to disappear around the three as a giant lightbulb appeared over his head. “Watch I’ll prove it” He’d say inserting his fingers into his mouth and whistling, at this moment Esu’s ears would perk up and he’d begin to run over to Akio on command.
“Me and Esu have been working on this technique since the academy, Esu let’s show them fang over fang.” He’d say as his canine finally stopped next to his hip. “You two may wanna stand back” his hands would make a kind of shew go away motion as he did this to bring more attention to his point. The jutsu was kind of a big attack and he didn’t wanna hit either of them while attempting it.
Regardless of whether or not the two listened to his suggestion of moving back Akio would look towards his canine companion. “Ready?” he’d ask firmly to which Esu would bark loudly in response.
“Good”
At this point in time Akio would crouch into an almost canine like stance, his fang like tooth showing from his mouth, making his clan lineage more than apparent to the two bystanders. His back left leg would push off the ground causing him to do a barrel roll into the air, and condensed wind would begin to surround him.
Probably to both of the gennin in front of hims surprise esu would follow suit, and the dynamic duo would now be two giant grey windlike drills arching high into the sky, to Akio he’d really just be relying on scent to guide him clear of the two uchiha swine below him, but in attempt to show them the true power of his technique he’d continue arching forward towards the smell of an oak tree.
Close behind him he could smell his dog's fur, letting him know that his canine companion was close behind. And in a matter of seconds the pair would find themselves slamming into an oak tree, the hard wooden bark being carved away by the fang like pressurised air drilling into its surface. Splinters and shrapnel would fly as the log gave way and the tree crashed into the grass below.
And the pair of ninja who had split it would continue on hitting the dirt behind it, the sudden impact would cause the air around them to begin to fade but the two would continue gliding, Esu would land on his feet and continue running, but Akio would be half spin and landing on his back, allowing his leather jacket to tank the majority of the skidding he’d continue to glide before kicking down with his feet to boost him back into the air.
This time he’d land on his heels and dig them into the ground while leaning forward to slow his momentum until he stopped hunched over with one hand pressing against the door.
“See… Much better”
The inuzuka boy would say as he pointed towards the now heavily defeated foe that had been an oak tree. “It never stood a chance”

Re: A Night Out IO [Yurei/Damon]

Yurei briskly walked back as the pair began their jutsu. He took a deeo breath, slowly becoming frustrated with the displays of power, but part of it was uplifting. Maybe it was better than just sulking, but maybe everyone needs time to mourn. Yurei looked up at Akio and Esu as they began to perform their spectacle of a jutsu. The two spun like a small tornado rampaging in flight and cutting the very air around him. The pale boy’s hair flew in their generated wind as he watched the two of them hurtle into an oak tree, ripping it to shreds.
The Uchiha raised his arm and sleeve to cover his face as chips of freshly mauled tree hurtled at him. He had no intentions of going blind. When the jutsu was over, the two shinobi, well, as much as a shinobi as Esu could be, left a ravaged tree in their wake. It had fallen over, chipping laid out across the vast sandy grasses of the Hoshigakure training grounds.
Yurei clapped, smiling as best he could, and said, “That’s a better landing than last time. Really cool jutsu, Akio, but if you don’t mind, I’d like to try out my own, thanks. Now, it’s nothing too flashy, but I’m sure you’ll think it’s pretty cool. Or not. You may be asleep by the time you realize what’s going on,” Yurei smiled.
Yurei disliked competition. He found it senseless and nothing but ego-stroking, but this would have some use. Aki, Esu,, and perhaps Damon as well, would serve as a perfect opportunity to use the Genjutsu Release that Yurei had wanted to learn. It was always good to defend against what you knew best, and Yurei was certain, for now, that there were better genjutsu practitioners out there than he, but he wanted to change that.
Yurei placed his hands just in front of his chest and took a deep breath. He formed the handseal the sole one required, Tiger, and then released his chakra. The beautiful night sky of Hoshigakure was replaced by a flurry of feathers. The fell softly, like snow, and they filled the midnight air, as if someone had carved through thousands of pillows – The Temple of Nirvana Technique (60 Power).

Re: A Night Out IO [Yurei/Damon]

Well it seemed that Akio was either hard of hearing or just flat out deaf since he somehow did not hear the laughter that had emitted from Yurei. Then Damon was forced to stifle his own laughter so that Akio did not think that the Uchiha was THAT mean, even though this sight was enough to make even a very disciplined shinobi burst into laughter. Ah newbies, Danon thought to himself. Granted he was a genin as well, but at least he had taken measures by taking the first of the chuunin exams. He then backed up to avoid the radius of the technique, silently hoping that Yurei would not, but alas, the boy who wore SPF 50 at night had also backed up. Darn.
Akio and Esu then seemed to combine into one massive tornado, or rather two separate entangling spirals of rapidly twisting bodies, as they arced in the air towards a poor, poor tree. Trees seemed to often be the targets of shinobi practicing their own jutsu. And wow Akio sucked at landings. Esu was already much, and I mean much better. Although Akio did manage to improve with this one. Damon then responded to his last line of dialogue, “Yeah, you sure showed that inanimate object.” Before Damon really had a chance to open his mouth and try out his own technique to show off, Yurei had interjected before Damon witnessed him signing a handseal. Feathers began falling from the sky. “Is this some weird ninjutsu…” Then his voice began to slur as he was overcome with a sudden surge of drowsiness. Realization struck as Damon recalled their first encounter: a genjutsu that had caused the world to catch on fire. And right after his father had died in a fire, no less. The boy seemed to favor genjutsu and illusions, so Damon was prepared. Expelling his greater chakra, the Uchiha pulsed his chakra outwards, effectively repelling the genjutsu. If his theory waa correct, then the genjutsu should fade. The feathers should quickly disperse and he would be filled with a sense of rejuvenation as he avoided it with his mastery over genjutsu release. He would look at Akio to see how he faired. Afterwards, he would turn to Yurei. “Nice try.”

“Yah you sure showed that inanimate object”
He’d hear almost immediately after finishing his technique. “You’re hilarious damon” He’d say as he extended his middle finger into the night sky. Then Yurei would interject as if to offer up his own choice of jutsu. Not having seen the boy do much of anything other than the body flicker technique he’d raise his eyebrow in response. Allowing the boy to continue he’d cross his arms as if waiting to be impressed. “Well go on then”
He’d say, not realising that the technique had already started. He did find it strange however that hundreds of feathers had all randomly decided to fall from the sky. “What is that?” He’d ask as his gaze focused on them, and he instantly became drowsy, feeling as if he was about to faint he’d just manage to get out the words “Oh son of a-” before falling face first into the dirt for the second time in this god forsaken thread.
Esu would be momentarily confused as he watched his friend fall face first into the ground, the dog hadn’t looked up yet so it hadn’t seen the feathers that would soon fall into his eyesight. Instead his eyes would be focused on the now unconscious gennin resting in the dirt in front of him, concerned for his friend he’d let out a sad moan.
This moan would shortly die off into nothingness however as the power of the genjutsu overcame him as well. He’d sprawl out onto all fours as he fell into his deep sleep.

Yurei watched quietly as the two collapsed into the genjutsu, sleeping soundly. If only he could use it on himself. He’d give anything to be able to sleep now. Yurei turned to Damon who was gloating about his failed attempt to place him under the genjutsu. “I didn’t expect it to work on you, Damon,” Yurei said, walking over to Akio and Esu. “After what happened last time.” Yurei glanced at the Uchiha briefly before looking back at Akio and Esu. His voice was quieter than usual. The pale Uchiha poked Akio’s face, making sure he was asleep. “Hm,” he murmured, stroking his chin.
Yurei recalled the genjutsu release technique he had read about in the scroll, and gave the handsign, tiger, dispelling his own chakra from the two and allowing them to wake.
“That seems to be it,” Yurei said flatly as he stood.

Damon would simply watch the others wake up from the genjutsu, and not bother to offer a snarky remark. Yurei had brought up what had happened last time, which had really hit home with him. The fire… He needed to get this out of his system. Metaphorically and literally. “Hey, guys, I don’t think I’ve shown off anything flashy yet. So watch this.” Damon backed away from the treeline and turned around to face away from anything that could catch on fire. He tilted his head up towards the sky, just to make sure the grass would not be affected. He then proceeded to sign Monkey → Bird → Dog → Ram as his body was engulfed in a flaming tornado. The fiery spiral would then surge from his body and accumulate in his hands as he then directed it upwards into the night sky. The flaming twister would continue in the air for about 20 meters before dissipating. He would then turn around and smile. Although many accused him of being a pyromaniac, cough Yurei cough, his favored element was actually lightning. He just did not have the psychological association with the element that required him to use it as much. Besides chidori that is. He made a mental note to practice more with lightning instead of fire, to avoid further confusion. He would then see what Akio and Esu would do with their dreary selves. The moon was beginning to dip in the night sky, threateningly so towards the horizon. Their night out should be coming to an end soon.

Akio was in the middle of a delightful dream about chasing mailmen with esu when he felt foreign chakra flood him into consciousness. His eyes would slowly flutter awake as he watched yurei move onto esu. His body would still be laying on the ground now aware of how late it was thanks to his rude and uncalled for forced nap. Instead of standing up Akio would simply roll onto his back and let out a yawn as he watched some kind of fire jutsu shoot off.
“Guy’s i'm tired as hell” He’d say at about the same time esu had woken up and laid next to him.

Yurei watched Damon’s display with disinterest, despite how impressive it was. He was finished for the night, completely tired out and emotionally drained to dust. He forced a smile at the end of the boy’s justu and smiled, but put his head down and gathered his scrolls. The moon was beginning to set, leaving the other side of the black night sky growing brighter by the moment. It was almost morning. Yurei turned to the pair and took a deep breath, finally mustering the courage to tell the two. “My father passed away last night. I’ve been here since then… trying desperately not to think about it.” Yurei paused, trying to find the words. “You two are the closest things to friends I’ve ever had… so if you could attend the funeral in 2 days.. Well, I’d like that,” Yurei said with finality. He wiped his eyes to clear the streaming tears.
