A Bit Nostalgic [P]
Mon Aug 07, 2017 9:25 pm
Her shadow flickered against the stone wall, occasionally catching that fickle attention. Reading wasn't Risako's favorite activity, but the document sprawled out in front of her had purpose. Scrawled onto the parchment of the scroll were instructions on how to transport one's being from one spot to another, a technique similar to Jason's, similar to Samuru's... The thought crossed her mind as to why it had been kept a secret from her for so long. Another attempt at the council to wrest control over the Hokage?
But then why would they give her the document now, was it meant to mock her? Her fist pounded into the stone surface of the table with a thud. Tears welled up, but they did not fall. Through watery eyes she scanned the document from beginning to end. The instructions weren't entirely specific, very vague in fact.
In an attempt to follow the instructions, Risako produced a kunai from her pocket. Stretching her index finger onto the flat of the blade, it emitted a bluish glow as a black mark was drawn onto the blade. Rather simple for now, a straight line with two lines crossing above it's halfway point. Continuing to engrave various seals for chakra storage, chakra consumption, and chakra creation, as well as various other seals, the blade began to look more like a canvas and less like a tool.
With the finished product complete the Fox Sage stood from the table rather abruptly and gave the weapon a toss. Before she could hear the thud of the weapon, her glass shattered behind her, leaving a hazard and a puddle in its wake. Triggering the seals with a half tiger handseal, the woman doubled over, as if her soul was being ripped in two. In very rapid, quick movements, her chest was trying to suck in air, almost to no avail. Beads of sweat began to collect on her brow, the seconds that had passed were agonizing hours for Risako, with every second that passed the pain was akin to every atom in her body being ripped out of her, placed in scalding hot water, and then inserted back into its place.
Her being felt one final tug as her eyelids finally snapped shut, only to reveal that she was outside. Facedown in the grass, kunai in hand, the pain but a lingering ghost. Gone, but seared into her mind.
For a moment, the thought of trying again lingered in her mind. Having finally mustered up the strength to push herself off the ground, no sooner had her vomit hit the ground. Until her body was adapted, this technique would have drawbacks.

Somewhere around midnight, Risako was busy tinkering with the seals in an attempt to cause less pain to the user's body. With her attention being poured solely into this project, she failed to consciously notice the pitter patter of Akami's pads against the stone floor. It wasn't until he was immediately to her left that her ear perked up, and she acknowledged him. Permitted to speak, the animal urged her to go to sleep, "It's getting late boss. Why don't you cut it off for the night, and pick it back up in the morning?"
Silently, she continued working on the technique. Her brow furrowed at his suggestion, and if she had no self control she probably would have scoffed in disgust at the creatures worry of her own health. However, that same self control told her that Akami was right. It was unlikely any more progress would be made tonight, with her mind unclear and clouded with frustration. Jerking herself out of her seat, she silently stormed off to the sleeping quarters and cashed in for the night.
Sometime before noon, the Fox Sage rose from her bed and made her way back to her table. In place of a kunai, she found nothing but a muddy paw print. Intent on finding the culprit of this thievery, it took Risako but a second to focus her chakra into the seals inscribed onto the kunai's surface. The dimly lit room was brightened by a sudden flash of yellow, then she was gone from the main room of the temple, and she found herself in the woods.
Writhing in pain atop the roots of a tree, she found herself once again clutching the kunai in her right hand. Unable to tell whether she was expecting it or if her tinkering with the seal resulted in less pain, although great, this was more manageable than the first time she attempted the techique. Something akin to being lit on fire rather than torn apart at the molecular level.

Grasping her fingers around the tool, her knuckles began to turn white. Each breath was basically a gasp for air, but they were breaths none the less. Last time, she almost drowned like a fish out of water. With a tug, Risako plucked the kunai from the flesh of the tree. This sent a fiery pain resounding through her arm, causing her to grasp the arm with her free hand. Clambering to her feet, she tried to focus on her surroundings to determine her location. It couldn't have been far from her original position, she found it a bit nostalgic really. The last time she was lost in the woods she met Jason Senju, this time she was sure she wouldn't meet anyone else, but you never know.
Once the pain stopped pulsing through her body, Risako began to survey her surroundings. Scampering off from the tree that was flashed to, was a trail of little fox paw shaped prints. Following them back to the temple, she wasted the rest of the day attempting to get back. Had she any common sense or practice with the technique the female would have laid one of the seals down in the temple for an instaneous retreat.
Upon arrival, she was too tired to storm into the temple. Her feet dragged along the ground behind her as she made her way through the doorway. Not a soul in sight, and another day wasted. Before heading to bed, the girl shuffled over to the door way, inscribing a one of the Flying Thunder God marks onto the wall. This would make for quicker access to her summon's domain, as well as help to stop any hijinks that the foxes would pull with her work for tomorrow.
Crawling into her bed, Risako pulled the covers up over her head and lulled herself into an easy nights sleep.
The tick of nails against the stone floor jolted her from her rest. With one foot already against the smooth stone surface she launched herself from bed and burst forth from her room and into the main room of the temple. A brilliant white fox waltzed into the temple door, his presence calling forth to the others with a demanding air of respect.
Dropping to one knee, Risako bowed her head to the fox. The last time she disrespected the creature the two nearly brought about the destruction of the valley. Not an event that she wanted tied to her name, lest she lose her personal allies and home away from home. Akami joined her side with the fox equivalent of a kneel, by bowing his head and sitting up straight.
Kisohi gave no attention to the girl, for she was to be viewed as unworthy of it. Unable to wrap his mind around Akami's choice in company and Yu's scheming, he instead waited for her to become worthy of recognition. He made his way through the temple and up to the second floor where he would begin his meditation.
Lifting her head once he left the room, Risako would speak to Akami. "Back to it. I've gotta get this technique down." Rushing back to her room, she retrieved her shirt from her bed and slipped it on. Her feet slapped against the stone as she ran back to her table in the main hall.
Forgiving yesterday's events with the kunai, Risako decided it best to let it slide. The exact reason escaped her at this moment, but she found her self oddly relaxed for the first time in the short while that she existed as Konoha's Deputy Hokage. Placing a new kunai on the table, she grasped it in her left hand and focused her chakra into the handle. With this new tool now holding the same seal as the other, she wanted to try something. Clutching the original kunai with her right hand, she tossed the other down the corridor of the main hall and into the great outdoors.
Focusing her chakra on the seal of the kunai, Risako would disappear in a golden flash of light. At this point she was beginning to grow numb to the pain, and as of yet she had not tried triggering the technique in rapid succesion.
As she reappeared, her left hand snatched the kunai out of the air while her right hand tossed its weapon up and over the temple. Once again . she focused her chakra on the seal and teleported to the other kunai above the temple. Once she reappeared, her hand was already clutching the tool, and while still in the air she lobbed the one in her left hand even higher.
The second she touched the temple's roof, Risako chucked the kunai in her right hand back behind her so that it arched in such a way that it would land in the dirt. In another flash of brilliant light she would appear even higher above the temple for all of two seconds, before she disappeared and then reappeared at her other kunai that had just landed into the dirt.
When she teleported, she noted that gravity still took effect on her due to the impact she had with the ground. It wasn't anything she couldn't handle, but irresponsible use of the technique could prove dangerous.
Risako recalled grabbing the kunai and plucking it from the dirt before a searing pain overcame her senses, and then nothing.

About two weeks later, after some more training with the technique which involved using it in spars and the like, Risako was totally numb to the pain it caused. As far as mastering the Flying Thunder God went, the woman still had some way to go, but her new ability was at the very least combat ready, no longer a hindrance to her capability.
Thinking back on it, she now knew what Ayumi meant when she was told this would be a test. The brief thought of Jason using the technique raced across her mind, did he have to go through the same hurdles or did he learn it faster? Dunno.
1778 WC, claiming AP and Flying Thunder God.
