Thor was sitting under a tree traumatizing some birds when he head a feint rumble in the distance, a carriage was quickly approaching then it stopped and out came a small man in a penny coat and top hat. He started to walk towards Thor, slowly but methodically almost skipping. Then he stopped right in front of Thor, and said “Why did the referee get fired? Because he was a whistle blower”! All Thor could say was wow, this was the man he needed to guide him in the way of the pun. A mythical and all knowing power puns! Then the man pulled out a small cane and waltzed away.
Then Thor got to work he wanted a cane of his own, he had always has a way with the earth so he started to pull and stretch it until it came into a uniform cylinder, then he tried to give it a pointed end almost sharp but then the whole thing crumbled instantly into a fine powder. He tried again but this time he started at the top trying to shape the end he got it to a good shape and then started to round it dipping it into a nearby puddle and visualizing the cane he wanted never letting go of that image then he had done it a flat top in the shape of a doorknob and then he started on the bottom twisting instead of pulling into an ice cream cone shape. Then presto he had his cane.
He did this for hours upon hours repeating the same four steps tiger seal, pull a cylinder, round the head, twist the bottom. He practiced it for hours until it was almost second nature. Then he heard the mans distinctive clicking of the mans shoes as he walked and then it stopped suddenly no more clicking just silence. Then he heard a whoosh almost like an explosion then the clicking started again, Thor ran as far as possible and hid in a tree.
Then he started to work on his cane again this time trying to give it a pointed edge almost like a spear. Then he started hunting looking for some game, nothing to big as to attract attention but enough to satisfy him. Then he saw it a small doe, he lobed his spear straight at its blind side but missed and his spear crumbled. Defeated he slowly walked to the tallest tree nearby and climbed to the very top and slept careful not to fall. He woke up decided he would try again but this time he wouldn’t throw the spear but jab it. So he slowly and carefully made a new spear larger than the last but with a wider tip. Then he walked to a nearby stream and decided he would try his luck at spear fishing, he waded down until the water was waist high then started to concentrate on everything he was feeling the small extra movement of the water the extra splash. Then he saw it a medium sized fish and stabbed straight at it, he got it. He climbed out and cooked it. Then he fell asleep, he hadn’t eaten in days and hadn’t bothered to wash.
Then he got bored so he started to fool around making voices, first he mimicked the man in the penny-coat at first his pitch was way off ,to low to be his normal voice but far to high to be the mans. Then he started to change his voice into his mothers saying he would come back to the man’s. At first it was missing an accent on the end of all of the vowels, a ch sound was what he was missing then he got it and he started to talk as his mother tears ran down his face as he remembered that night his father with the bloodlust of a thousand men in his eyes his brothers looking stoic in the face of a monster and then his mother whose only thought was to protect him.
Then he passed out and awoke the chatter of his teeth he had forgotten to stoke the fire and was now nearly dead due to hypothermia. He gathered all of his strength and built a fire then went back into a deep slumber. When he awoke all he could think about was the man in the penny-coat taunting him about how he wasn’t good enough to mimic the elusive man the the penny-coat.
So the first thing he did was get to work on his pitch and tempo and everything he’d could remember about the man. He went letter by letter thinking about how it was said, did it have an accent did it has a sty did he stutter anything just to get the voice down. He finally got the alphabet down when he remembered that the man had slurred his r’s so he had to start all over. Then eureka he had done it he could speak fluently like the man. Then he worked on throwing his voice and projecting. He found that he could project and annunciate well but throwing his voice was next to impossible so he started to practice, first he did vocal exercises then he started to make his voice echo then finally once he had that down he would try to make the mans voice talk to him. After he had that down he started to clean himself and attempt to build a camp. He had a small shelter and a fire but nothing else. Then he slept in a deep slumber for almost a day and a half. Then he walked to the edge of the river and fished again, and repeated this every day for almost a week before he decided it was time to pack up camp and move on. He walked for days occasionally seeing smoke or hearing a whoosh, he just kept walking if Thor was meant to die then I would have happened then not now.
