Off to the Promised Land

Kira awoke dazed and confused to the sound of night. The distant cricket chirping, the trees dancing to the silent breeze, and the occasional how of a wolf leading it’s pack. Her body felt sore, and her eyes a little red for the crying. It took her a moment to realize where she was before the pain struck her once more. Sal was gone. She quickly grabbed at her chest, wanting to rip out her very own heart to stop the immense pain. Tears began to run its course down her cheeks before leaping off her chin and onto the dirt below. She tried to stop, but then she realized she had to do all her mourning now, away from those who may use this weakness against her. She had to do it here where her only witnesses was the forest around her. It was about ten minutes before it would seem like she ran out of tears, and all she could do was sob silently.

An hour may have passed before she gathered enough strength to finally stand. She didn’t know what to do now. Part of her wanted to head off to Konoha, find her lover and recover his body, find away to bring him back. There had to be a way… But she knew that was a pipe dream, and it could only put her in harm’s way. She had to be smart. She had to think her her brain and not with her heart. She couldn’t make the stupid decisions that people make when they get too emotional. That wasn’t who she was and why she refused to get too close to people.

Taking a deep breath, she figured her best course of action was to head to Kumo. She was affiliated with them now after all and everyone was heading back there after the ceremony. Before she could think too much into everything, she let her body lead her, heading off to the very place she thought she would never go
