A Visit and News
Mon Dec 18, 2017 12:21 am
The sun’s light kissed Yurei’s face as he stepped forth, gazing at the packed dirt now sprinkled with thin grass of brown. The young Uchiha’s eyes shifted to his father’s gravestone. It had been months since the incident, well over a year, and, the boy was still haunted. The albino shinobi’s hands clenched in tension as he bit his lip, indenting it with his teeth.
“Hello, Father,” he said solemnly. “It’s been a long time since I’ve visited you.” Yurei’s eyes shifted from the gravestone, staring out at the sand nearby. “I’m sorry, I’ve just been really busy. And, I know you’re still mad at me. How could I ever be forgiven for what I did? But I wanted to tell you something. I want you to know that what I did wasn’t in vain. I became a Chuunin, Father. I know you wouldn’t approve but…”
Yurei’s eyes began to swell with tears, his lips compressing into a tight frown. “I’m gonna do it, Dad. I’m gonna stop all this hate! You’ll see! And maybe then you can be proud of me.” The Uchiha’s tears ran down his cheeks, dripping onto his father’s grave.
“M-Mom misses you,” Yurei said, struggling to get the words out of his mouth. “I don’t know how, but I think she’s forgiven me.” His legs shook with grief as he forced the words from his throat. “I thought I could forgive myself, but I don’t think I ever can. I don’t think I should…” The Uchiha looked at his hands, eyelids lowering on his expression. He gazed at every crevice, every scar. “But because of what happened that night, I haven’t given up.” Yurei clenched his teeth, grinding them like salt in a shaker. “And I won’t give up. I won’t ever give up, Father.”
Yurei’s breath shook with anger, sorrow, and determination. He tilted his head, and turned away from the grave, tears falling onto his silk kimono.
