Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Let's Teach Some People Stuff

Tue Jan 02, 2018 9:36 am
Valen moved into the field as the sun arose for his early morning training. He came into the field wearing his normal attire, consisting of a black undershirt, black shinobi cargo pants, black combat boots and his trademark cloak. His usual summoning companion, Natsumi was already wrapped around his chest and neck. She would stay like this unless required to move, giving insight and just general conversation to the Dark Prince of Hoshigakure. Around his neck, and under Natsumi sat his silver cross, which could transform into a bow in his hands at extremely high speeds. His waist? Hung his favoured blade, Twilight, won in a spiritual battle against the blades dark half. The sun would be peaking over the horizon as he moved into the field. The chill of the night air would cling helplessly to the world as it fought against the inevitable victory of the heat of the sun.

Valen was here today to work on more of his light release chakra. But he certainly didn’t mind teaching anyone anything that happened to show up to his little field for some training. After all, why would he be against helping other gain more strength? He himself sought any route he could take, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t help other along the same path. Besides, working on light release chakra could be done while helping others if anyone did arrive. He would arrive in the middle of the field before he unsheathed his blade to begin working through a few katas. A bit of physical exercise and muscle memory training to make sure his instincts with a blade were still sharp. He would get through this before any other presence made itself known within the field. Working his way through the katas at a measured, experienced pace. Meanwhile, Natsumi lay content in her little safe haven, using the body heat Valen generated to stave off the remaining chill of the night air.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

Wed Jan 03, 2018 5:57 pm
Miyamoto was incredibly pleased with how the day had begun.  A hot meal, a quick warm up outside his home, and then now he was off to the training area to see if he could perhaps pick up a few tricks for the upcoming tournament.  His attire was the usual black pants with combat boots, weapons, and miscellaneous pouches.  His upper body was dressed in the normal training Gi he wore that bore his family crest and the crest of Hoshi.  His Kanabo, Titan's Wrath across his back as it usually sat unless he needed to use it.  He bolted towards the field in an attempt to score a spot where he could practice in peace only to find out that once he actually got to the spot, it was empty from what he could see, then again he did not really give a good look. He sighed not knowing he was actually being watched.

"Guess some people need rest.  Let me see what I can do by myself at least."  He said as he found some stationary dummies to where he could begin practicing his martial arts skills.  If someone were to come up he would quickly turn to meet them.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

“Someone approaches Valen-Sama” His scaly companion would say from her save spot under his attire. The snakes eyes were keenly acute at the moment while the last dregs of moonlight began to fade away. Soon her vision would get much more poor and she would use her tongue to taste the air around her to note of any changes to the environment. Valen would be in the middle of his katas at this point further down the field from the new arrival but the crimson clad jonin had perfect vision even in the early morning light where it tended to get muggy and hard to see at a distance. He would finish the rest of the his katas before sheathing his sword slowly, drawing the blade across the edge of the sheath as he took a deep breath to steady himself from his practice. He would proceed to look closely at the new arrival. He would take note the person was a fair bit shorter than his own 5’9 and he definitely didn’t weigh anywhere near the same weight. That granted such things don’t matter so much in the world of shinobi as a child could have the power to kill people twice their age if the did their job correctly. It only took one good throw after all.

Valen would move toward the boy now, absently saying thank you to Natsumi as he paid attention to what the new arrival was doing. ‘He seems to be getting ready to train.’ He thought to himself as he closed the distance, now getting within twenty meters of the boy. Deciding that was a good point to call out a greeting the teenager would raise his voice just a bit to make sure he was heard by the only other person on the field. “Good morning, my name is Valen Akari, Jonin, interested in a training partner?” He would ask in curiosity, he was looking for someone to train with and the boy looked as good as any other person. “I could probably teach you a useful skill or two too if you’re interested.” He would follow up with a shrug. At this point Natsumi would peak her head out of Valen’s high collar to get a look at the boy to see the male wearing a training gi and black combat boots and various pouches hanging off his waist and off the pants. Likely holding shinobi tools that he used in combat. She would also note the emblems on his Gi, the Hoshigakure symbol would be well known the young snake. The second emblem however she simply would not recognize. At that point she would lower her head again, content to simply watch and observe from within his attire.

Valen himself wouldn’t recognize the second emblem either, having never really seen it before. He would however most definitely note the attire of a shinobi when he saw one. With a shock of black hair and blue eyes the boys appearance would seem rather plain to the Jonin, but then again he wasn’t exactly considered normal for his choice in appearance either. Often times the rather stoic fighter would hear people referring to him as ‘edgelord’ or something along those lines. Something which confused him but he shrugged it off to continue his work.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

He was at the dummies as he practiced arm movement and blocking in close quarters, a training knife inside the dummy would spring out like a loaded gun to surprise the Chuunin as he maneuvered it away with ease before finishing strong with a high kick to the chest of the dummy. His next movements were meant to be deliberate as he shadowboxed and began work on forms until he was ready mentally, perhaps after the forms he would meditate before going any further. Soon though after completing three forms of martial arts he would hear a rather distant voice coming from behind him. As he turned around puzzled he would see a shinobi, somewhat taller that Miyamoto wearing the colors of crimson. It was an odd choice, but the world of shinobi usually offered the odd as more of a normal stance on fashion. Though puzzled Miyamoto would happily laugh as he waved the shinobi over.

"YOU KNOW IT WILL BE KIND OF HARD TO TEACH SOMETHING FROM 20 YARDS AWAY!!!" Once finished he would wait for the shinobi to arrive over at his location, but once there Miyamoto would look a bit more serious as he was offered something new to learn.
"I am always down to learn whatever I can, however...I don't believe we have met formally before. Miyamoto Terumi, Chuunin of Hoshigakure and former team member of Team Snow. What is your name though I haven't met many of the shinobi of the village beside those that come to me to learn what I have to know." He asked as he announced who he was, which was actually very unlike him due to him wanting to make sure nobody tried to sully the name of his family.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

Valen would be rather confused by the boy before him as he turned around and screamed at him. As he had never stated he had stopped moving. Just STARTED talking, after all coming up right behind a shinobi while they were training when they had no idea who you were was a fairly suicidal idea in his mind. So he wanted to call out to him from a safe distance as he closed the distance. As he had never stopped moving he would actually get to the boy right about when he started screaming. Valen would simply maintain his usual stoic demeanor before responding with a single word “Noted”. Of course the the boy would do his own introduction ‘Miyamoto Terumi eh?’ He would think as he nodded at the boy’s introduction. “Well if you want to then today you can learn something instead of teaching. He would say as he ignored the question about his name as he would have been a fair bit closer when he had said his name than the teen before him has initially assumed. Especially since at that point he had ‘called out’ to the boy to make sure he had heard his name.

“So, would you like to spar or learn something Miyamoto? I can teach you how to move so silently that those around you can’t even hear it. Experienced shinobi or not.” He would say with a hint of curiosity in his voice. After all he had good either way, he could get some sparring in and work on new ways to mold his light release chakra while he did it. Or he could teach him something and do the same thing. Either way it was a win/win.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

Thu Jan 04, 2018 2:32 pm
Miyamoto, completely feeling like an ass as he found out he had pretty much yelled in the face of the man offering to teach him something new, sighed defeatedly when the man just noted his words.  He remembered the man had already said his name when he yelled at him earlier...he was such a dunce for thinking that he did not hear it, but still he just thought about how much of an ass he was being.  Though after a few seconds he just shrugged it off, chalking it up to just another cautious yet helpful shinobi.  When he was asked what he wanted to do though Miyamoto had to think a moment as it had been a long time since he had a spar with someone his strength or stronger, but the prospect of learning to move like the wind while being just as silent made him more than intrigued.

"Well, why not both, as it seems so far no one seems to be joining us, so how about you teach me to walk silently...then we duke it out so I can gauge my strength at my current level.  How does that sound?"  He asked as he backed up a few moments later as he tried to see if he could actively tell something about the shinobi through just the chakra he gave off.  To the man it would look like Miyamoto would just stare for a few awkward moments as if dumbfounded.

After a few seconds Miyamoto would hopefully do as he asked and they would be able to move on as teacher and student.  He would keep a distance of about two meters from the man at all times so that he could hopefully have enough time to react to whatever may happen.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

Tue Jan 09, 2018 6:26 pm
The crimson garbed swordsman of the Hoshi would nod his head in agreement with the boy. “Very well then Miyamoto, we’ll start with the technique. It was something my teacher left in the Library before his passing.” He would state as he began to consider how to explain the technique that would allow them to move silently no matter how fast they moved. As he thought he would feel a familiar slithering through his upper body before remembering that he had in fact brought Natsumi with him. He couldn’t believe he had forgotten to introduce his friend. “It seems I am remiss. I have neglected to introduce someone to you.” He would say as the snake would poke her head out of the top of Valen’s high collar. The black and rainbow coloured snake would flick her tongue out toward the boy. Getting a ‘taste’ of his scent as she did before nodding his head at him. You know, since it’s kind of the only thing she could nod at him at the moment. “This is Natsumi.” Valen would begin with a small smile on his face as she continued to study the black haired boy. “She’s one of my snake summons on a close friend.” He would state as she flicked her tongue out at the boy once more before speaking “Pleasure to meet you Miyamoto-san” she would say before sliding back into his cloak and wrapping herself around his torso and neck once more.

“Alright, now that that’s taken care of shall we begin?” He would ask and waiting a moment to hear the confirmation or see a nod of some kind. If it came he would nod his head before delving into the technique. “The technique was dubbed ‘The Lost Arts of Kiri’ as it originated from Kirigakure. My late mentor originated from there and he passed the skill down to all of Hoshigakure before his passing. What this skill allows you to do is move extremely silently, so quietly that even experienced shinobi, trained in observation, are unable to hear it. This is done by controlling your bodies motions to a highly tuned degree. Every step, every breath, every move you make has to be carefully done to ensure that you are as silent as you can possibly be. With practice moving like this, controlling your body to such a highly tuned degree without the use of chakra, will become second nature. Allowing you to do this subconsciously. Even the way you throw weapons will change with this skill, as you’ll find ways to throw them to avoid them making noise as well.” He would explain to the chunin before him. “Give it a try, attempt to control everything, even your heartbeat. Slow it down, step lightly, try stepping differently to avoid adding too much weight, watch how your clothing shifts. It’s far more difficult than most people imagine, but it’s a skill worth having.” He would finish as he backed up to five meters to allow the boy a bit more space to practice.
If the boy said he didn’t want to begin for whatever reason than Valen would blink at him a couple of times confused before nodding his head and waiting for the boy to be ready. When given a cue that the black haired chunin was prepared, he would do his speech then.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

Tue Jan 09, 2018 7:05 pm
Miyamoto would stare at the man before him as he announced that he was going to begin instruction of the technique he was about to pass down to him.  A small snake popped up out of his shirt as Valen then explained that he did not introduce his summoned companion whom he referred to as Natsumi.  Miyamoto gave a slight bow in greeting to his companion as he heard it speak in greeting to him, actually catching him off guard for a moment before Miyamoto actually remembered that in this world that was considered normal.  With a smile, Miyamoto would come up from his bow and speak to Natsumi just as she coiled back into Valen.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well Natsumi, I hope I will not take you away from your companion for long,"  Miyamoto said just as he gave Valen a nod for him to begin instruction in response to his question on whether it was time to begin or not.  as he listened to Valen speak of his old master passing from this world and leaving behind a legacy in the form of a series of techniques did Miyamoto perk up.  He did not know that such a foreign master had taught in the village at all, then again he was indeed a refugee.  Valen spoke of controlling the motions without the use of chakra, to rely on pure skill seemed daunting but intriguing as he became lost in the uses of such a technique.  When he was told to go ahead and give it a try Miyamoto blinked as if he was still lost in his thoughts before nodding and watching as Valen stepped back a bit to give him some room to work with.

Without making so much as a mention of what he was about to do Miyamoto just seemed to dive into trying, his concentration was on his own body and not on whether Valen could hear him or not.  He knew that there was a small bubble of error around the human body that gave room to move and to do incredible things, but to cause movement without making a sound seemed impossible.  He took a step as he tried to control his breathing, but as he soon found out he took a step that made the air in his lungs expel just at the same time as his boots made contact with the ground as a faint slap could be heard.
"Damn it all..."  Miyamoto said as remembered the pointers Valen had given him when he instructed him to give it a try.

He would close his eyes as he would begin by feeling his heartbeat. Ba-Dum, Ba-Dum, Ba-Dum, it was steady and a bit elevated due to the situation as Miyamoto took air in through his nose before breathing out of his mouth slowly.  Soon he would find that his heartbeat slowed, and his feet did not move for several minutes as he stood there trying to unlock the technique.  Remembering his meditation exercises he would slowly empty his mind before finally thinking of the water and how it flowed sometimes without making a sound, but always fluid.  So he stepped differently, closely he managed to step within a foot and a half of his original position while adjusting the weight of his body so that it would almost feel like he was gliding rather than moving his feet.  He noted how his clothes seemed to move in a more restricting fashion at first, but became looser as he stepped.  Deliberate, controlled moves are what he needed to win this day.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

Tue Jan 09, 2018 7:32 pm
“Good, good. Do not let the sound of my voice distract you. You’re already doing well.” The Dark Prince would say as the boy began to practice and quickly seemed to grasp the technique. Valen himself would be subconsciously using the technique as well, moving silently as he walked around the boy. He wouldn’t speak a word while he moved, trying to trip the boy up by distracting him by suddenly changing his position while the practicing teens eyes were closed. The boy was learning well, the rest would come with practice and constantly trying to use the skill. It had become a thing of subconscious thought to Valen at this point, him being able to move about his normal everyday activities with absolutely no sound whatsoever. Eventually he would decide the boy had done well enough for now. So he would speak up from about ten meters behind the boy, making sure his voice was loud enough to be heard. “Very good Miyamoto.” He would say simply, confident that so long as the boy hadn’t opened his eyes than he would have absolutely no idea where he was until he spoke. “You’ve gotten the basics of the technique down, the rest will come from you working to implement it into everyday life. Eventually you’ll get to a point where it’s entirely subconscious.” He would say as he spoke, still making sure he was loud enough to hear.
“Shall we get to the spar? You can set the specifics if you want.” He would say as he would slowly begin to pace a few feet while looking at his sparring partner. He had been waiting for a good spar, the pacing would occur at a speed of 5. He was mildly anxious to get the spar started, his blood would begin pumping for a fight. He would listen intently for the restrictions the Chunin put into place. It was only fair to let the teen choose, as Valen didn’t know what he could or could not handle. Obviously they wouldn’t be aiming to kill each other, but he didn’t want to accidentally use a technique that the boy wasn’t ready to deal with and possibly die from it.

Let's Teach Some People Stuff Empty Re: Let's Teach Some People Stuff

Tue Jan 09, 2018 7:56 pm
The sound of his voice was not what was distracting him, trying to move with grace and fluidity was what was doing him in. However, it seemed to become a little easier with each step he found out. He could not actually hear Valen the entire time he was walking around him, pacing back and forth like predator and prey. As Valen praised him for doing well Miyamoto would open his eyes to see that Valen was no longer in front of him as he followed his voice he spun quickly to turn to see Valen some feet away from him. His continued pointers were much appreciated as he bowed graciously to his teacher, the old feelings of learning entering his head as he stood there with a goofy smile on his face. That is when Valen broke some fun news to the Chuunin, the spar was up next as he said Miyamoto could set the specifics.

"I want to test myself to the extent of a real battle, but I am not ready to die yet as I still have much to do in my life," Miyamoto said as he popped his knuckles and looked at his opponent. It had been a long time since his last actual spar with someone that was stronger than him He was eager to test himself to see if he could even hold up during the tournament that was coming up soon.
