The Final Chapter
Sun Mar 18, 2018 11:15 am
The man fell back into the broken remains of the chair that was once his. His eyes drifted left to right, his vision unfocused. How had he gotten here? Takeo didn't remember. There were many gaps in his memory these days. The man had left Haven, he remembered that. The voice of the beast in his mind had plagued him throughout the journey. Now the man found himself sat in the twisted and broken remains of what was once the skyscraper that housed the Tenkage's office. The large chair in the office had survived the fall. Though now nature had begun to take hold of it along with the rest of the city.
He rested his head against the back of the chair. The silence that this desolate environment provided allowed Takeo to clear his mind. The man had lost track of how long he had been here. Hours had blended seamlessly into days, which in turn blended into weeks. All Takeo knew was now it was a struggle to move. His mind kept telling him to just close his eyes and remain where he was. The heavy book resting on his lap was the only thing that offered up any form of resistance for him. The ink had long since dried, his legacy forever etched onto the pages. All of his memories, his experiences, all of them had been put into the book. It wasn't yet finished however.
There was but one final chapter that he needed to add.
The man's form shifted for the first time in weeks. The sound of his bones clicking into position was the man's body was forced to stand would echo around the dead city.
Then silence followed, and the man was gone.
